Plastic surgery has anyone
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Milli2mini's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If you have Instagram. A bariatric person that I follow name is: Jessica_vsg44. She just had surgery is Mexico like 2 weeks ago at the Bariatric Hospital in Mexico. I am trying to stay close to where I live as not all my family can afford to come with me and they want to be there. They are also helping me pay for it. I would have cost me $11,000 (Extended tummy tuck and liposuction) but since I had my surgery with a partnered doctored, it will cost me $9,200. Inflation of the NYC expensive lifestyle. -
i like the bariatric advantage soft chews, taste like a starburst.they have all different flavors.

Do a lot of people have hiatal hernias?
Creekimp13 replied to hotmessmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They might and might not detect it on the endoscopy. Mine wasn't detected and it was huge. Probably the result of bad falls off horses..or crappy genetics...or a combination. Don't worry...it's not complicated to repair and most bariatric surgeons have a ton of experience fixing them if you do happen to have one. Piece of cake. No worries. -
NSAIDS/Steroids post Gastric Bypass
GassyGurl replied to txtchr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our practice told us very specifically that all forms of nsaids reduce the protective stomach lining which can allow ulcers to form. Injectable, topical or pills carry the same risk, or so they say. There are two bariatric Dr's in my practice. My surgeon told me I could resume nsaids without any problems (no ppi required) . The other surgeon is an advocate of never, ever, ever. The nurse and staff advocate the more strict recommendation, even saying my Dr is flat out wrong. So who do I believe? Sigh.. Then, ppi's come with their own risks (long term usage). Reading up on ulcers from nsaids, and long term effects of ppi usage will scare the crap out of you. It stinks that our choices are limited. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi I got the band in 2011 and got it completely unfilled in April 2017. I am now going for the sleeve surgery and to have the band removed completely. My surgeon said my insurance doesn’t cover any bariatric surgeries either, but they presented that the band is a health issue for me and needed it to be removed. Just heard back yesterday that my insurance will cover band removal and sleeve conversion completely. Find a good surgeon and they will fight like hell to help you out.

NSAIDS/Steroids post Gastric Bypass
TakingABreak replied to txtchr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I've had this problem now twice. I was recently in the ER twice for gallbladder attacks and they wanted to give me an NSAID for pain relief. After I had surgery I put NSAIDs on my allergy med list. Both times I was in the ER they brought the syringe full to inject me, and both times I had to ask if it was an NSAID. Both times it was. Both times the nurse left and went and got the doctor. They insisted that the "injectable" is OK after bariatric surgery. I will be talking with my surgeon in my next appointment to see if an NSAID injectable, on these rare occasions, are ok to use? -
Hi everyone! I'm one month post op and for some reason have one ankle that hurts and is swollen. I didn't injure it-started hurting when I got out of bed. Urgent care and PCP want me to take a steroid and/or NSAID to reduce inflammation but I told them that my bariatric surgeon was pretty clear that I couldn't. They said it would just be for a week and shouldn't be a problem.....anyone else have this issue??? Thanks in advance!!!

Has anyone in here used Dr. Syn at Advanced Bariatric Surgery Center? I really like him, but was just curious if anyone else has used him. I'm currently waiting on insurance approval for my DS. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Protein & Vitamin Intake
TakingABreak replied to Tooba's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stay away from gummies. Your pouch doesn't have enough stomach acid to break down the gummies. The chalky ones are the only way to go, until you can swallow pills. I recently switched to a bariatric vitamin I can swallow. -

I just spoke with my nurse who was giving me the Toradol. He came from a large Bariatric Center. He said they used it all the time. Ok asked if there were any complications from it. He said that they had to stop it on one patient who had a bump in the BUN ( kidney function) but that was it. -

Orange would be a nice option. We use Toradol in fresh out of the OR open hearts. There is a risk of bleeding so that definitely needs to be looked at. I did see on YiuTube that one of the Bariatric centers had it in their regimen. But not everyone should have it. It's worth a discussion with the Surgeon though. So, I disagree with you on this one, having used it for many years. And now from a patient perspective I am even more of an advocate IF you are a candidate. Three doses of IV Toradol will not cause the Gastric effects that Motrin / Ibuprofen cause. That is when you use it at a higher frequency. Glad your recovery went well too! I had heard so many horror stories! -
Maybe its all in my mind, maybe not

This is not easy for you, I know. Try this: every time you have a good temptation knocking at your mental door, say to yourself "Too Bad but That Food is on Vacation. Not expecting him to return soon". Then do something else, walk, turn on tv and see if you can find a low impact exercise show. I have Spectrum/Time Warner and there is a Senior Citizen one , sometimes I just March in place, go wash your hands, you might not be cleared to vacuum but how about dusting? If your house isn't dusty come to mine, I have gas heat and 2 cats, one must be shedding some winter fur. Go lurk on Bariatric Pal if all else fails, see if anyone has a problem you've already solved, if so, give them your advice. My former bariatric surgeon didn't love me like he should, didn't respect me enough to do my surgery. Guess I could have started a thread about that, but I didn't. He may think he's well rid of me, well jokes on him because I KNOW I'm well rid of him. I've lived too long to hang around a man who don't want me, be it professionally or out in the real world. I'll take,my little hand, wave my little hand and say Bye Bye Dr M, you had your chance, you blew it then I 'll give him the thought of what a door can do to him. I don't get peeved often but when I do I'm H*** on Heels. So pfft on him , and while I'm thinking of that I'm not hungry at all. Make your own kind of music today because only you, know the right song to sing. And I'll catch you on the flip side![emoji13] Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
I just joined the forum...had my surgery early on Monday the 2nd. Things seem to be going well. They had me up walking shortly after moving into my room. I did experience a bit of nausea occasionally, particularly when walking. I didn't throw up, just felt queasy. You definitely do feel bloated afterwards but now I'm 2 days post-surgery and that seems to be slowly disapating. The most difficult thing for me so far has been getting my 64 oz of water (clear liquids) down. I didn't realize sipping would be so tough. I have a small burp most each time I drink. Good news is that I haven't had to take any pain pills. I do have some pain at my incisions but as long as I'm careful getting up from a chair or blowing my nose it's bearable. Doc has me on omeprazole (prilosec) for 90 days to reduce stomach acid and I begin my vitamins next Monday. I'm using Bariatric Advantage vitamins and Bariatric advantage Calcium Citrate Chewy Bites. For my 2 week prep diet I used Nectar brand whey protien isolate in chocolate, fuzzy navel, and strawberry kiwi. For me, the chocolate is by far the best tasting of the 3. I better go so I can start sipping...good luck and God bless!

Is Diarrhea something to be scared of I’m 11 days Gastric sleeve postop?
ancirasd replied to lilchristyrocks's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Keep an eye on it! Just like she said you can become very dehydrated and that happened to me two months post op of my sleeve surgery. I ended up getting the flu and I couldn’t keep anything down or in my body and I had a near death experience with dehydration. Please be careful and watch for symptoms. You can always call your surgeons office and see what they recommend before you go to the er. But if you do go to the er let them know you are a Bariatric patient and explain what’s wrong. -

Keep your job and personal life separate. You can google to see over million of bariatric patient's sharing their journey, educating people and attempting to change the stigmas about weight loss surgery. One more weight loss surgery experience shared on social media is not going to be a great inpact. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Yes guys can be D-Bags at the gym! Either they think their all big badass’s or they stand there and just stare at you like lost dogs. Every time I’m in the weight room I enjoy yelling at guys for be D-Bags! LOL! Anyway, a personal trainer can be very helpful. They will hold you accountable and help you with everything you need! Honestly to tell you the truth...I was completely against weight loss surgery for years! In my profession I always thought with hard work and dedication...you can lose weight! Well that’s BS!!! Cause I can gain all the muscle in the world but I also gain fat too. I can work hard and lose weight, but I can NEVER keep it off. I realized I have an eating problem. A problem that my knowledge and skills can’t fix. So I decided I needed help. So I looked into Bariatric surgery and decided that it’s an amazing opportunity for me to help me with my eating problem. I will be able to lose the fat Iv been packing on top of my muscles and keep it off. I can be healthier and live longer! I’m am now 100% for Bariatric Surgery! -
And everything in Flint will be fine and dandy on that day.I have ordered good weather that day from Amazon, if anyone can deliver they will. Of course nice Spring Weather may be on back-order or deleted from their distribution center. We may have to just wait and see![emoji3][emoji173][emoji3]PS Maybe I should have ordered from Alex at Bariatric Pals Store, they also have a good delivery record. I had the sleeve and a hiatal hernia repair on March 26th 2018 my starting stats were 265.5 I am now at 256. I know that a lot of this journey is mental. I just want to know if there's anyone else out there that still feels like they might be hungry because I do and it hasn't even been a full two weeks. I'm getting my fluids in, I'm doing really well with my fluid intake and I'm doing my two protein shakes a day - meeting my protein requirements but I'm still really struggling with always thinking about food and I know that I need to stay busy which I am but I'm afraid. I just want to know if this is a normal feeling that anyone else is or has gone through because I do definitely feel fuller faster which I love but I'm just scared that I'm always thinking about food and I know that it's mental but I'm like I said I'm really scared. My follow-up appointment with my surgeon is next week so I will definitely take this up with him but in the meantime I wanted to hear it from the mouths of all the babes who have been through it. I was feeling so good about losing about a pound a day since surgery, I have about a week away from my period. i retain a lot of water during this time. Today I woke up, got on the scale and I am up a pound and the fact that I'm up is really getting to me. Like I'm truly bothered. Of course it happened the day after I went to stage 2 as directed by my bariatric nurse. So now I'm afraid of almond milk, thick liquids and basically everything except chicken and beef broth. Anyone have anything they can offer to an overly worried new sleever. Sincerely, The driver of the struggle bus

How many cals/day do/did u consume during WL stage?
ElseeG replied to ElseeG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. I’m two weeks out, and protein is close to 90g each day. Carbs are around 25 and sugar is negligible. I have an appt with a bariatric nutritionist next week. -
If there was a pill don't you believe most of us would, tried it before now?. There is no free lunch in life, and certainly not in Bariatrics. We work and we work hard for every little change. We were food a holics and it is hard not regress back to junky foodland. One of the armed services has the motto,I think maybe Coast Guard, Eternal Vigilance, that should be ours also. We have a watch to do the rest of our lives against poor diet. But our health is worth it and we are too![emoji6][emoji171][emoji6][emoji170] Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

How long from initial visit til surgery
hotmessmom replied to hotmessmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you, I told them I really wanted to get the ball rolling quickly lol. I’m sure most do. I’m not sure how much insurance is going to work for this but if it doesn’t cover it I will be self pay. I was just looking at the classes it looks like I have the Bariatric seminar 2 days after my egd. The classes I guess I will see the list when I go for that. Super nervous but excited at the same time -
