Milky Protein NO MAS!!! I need help!

Buy unflavored protein powder and add a teaspoon to chicken broth, chicken soup, thinned out refried beans, etc. I eat Genepro and I can't taste it if I mix it really well. Each teaspoon is 10 g of protein.
  2. Hello: I just had my first visit with a nurse navigator today - considering the sleeve. I’m 38, 5’ 10”, current weight is 310 pounds, have had diabetes type II for 13 years ( current A1c is 8.9). BMI is 44. I’m going for a surgical eval 4/30, and then after than I can schedule my first nutrition class. My insurance (Aetna) requires that I don’t gain any weight from now until surgery. Given that my nutrition visit won’t be for a few weeks, does anyone have an easy sample meal plan they followed? Thank you in advance!
  3. Eight years ago today (Good Friday) I was told by my doctor that I quite likely had breast cancer and needed to have a biopsy asap. She said to get ready, cuz I needed to prepare for the hardest year of my life. She wasn't wrong... Now fast forward to 2019 Good Friday, I'm 3lbs from my 3rd Goal (133lbs) and living a miraculous life in NED. (no evidence of disease). I'm blessed to be here and so happy to walk this journey of healthy living with you all! (Pic ho coming soon--maybe this afternoon after my trip to Old Navy 50% off sale. Woot!!
  4. I'm relieved! My insurance nurse called me yesterday to say that they still hadn't received my EGD op report or my Cardiac Clearance report even though they had requested them a few times. I called the providers for both of those tests and requested to have the reports faxed directly to my insurance nurse. This all happened around 4pm yesterday, so just when everyone is fixin to close up shop and head home. Anita called me this morning to tell me that my phone calls worked because she arrived to work to both reports sitting on her desk! woohoo! There's something to be said for being an RN and knowing how to deal with doctors to get what you want from them. She said she submitted me for approval and UHC is taking an average of 10 days to respond. Super excited now, it's feeling real. I asked her specifically about falling below BMI of 35 preop and she said they have had a few patients who have walked into surgery at a BMI of 32 but had managed to stay above the 35 until they were submitted for approval. She said they do not submit any other weights after they submit for approval which was a big fear of mine. I fall in that boat. So, now I'm working to lose so I can be as healthy as possible come surgery day. The day is getting closer. I'm shooting for sometime in May. Also, I've averaged 23k steps on my Fitbit this week. I've been participating in challenges and meeting a lot of folks who are trying to get fit. There are several losers on the site (trolls who are there seeking some sort of relationship 🙄) but most of the people I've "met" have been friendly and fun. I have actually danced my way to 20k steps already today, LOL. Have to make it fun! Have a great Easter weekend, ya'll!

  7. Hi everyone! I am currently almost 10 weeks post op and have hit a stall for the last two weeks. I'm trying so hard not to get disheartened but I dont know what to do. I FINALLY feel that my stomach has healed and am really trying to get my water in and my protein as much as I can. I also work out about 4 times a week if I can. Does anyone have any advice? I've introduced carbs into my diet but never go over 25 carbs a day...and my calorie intake stays around 700 or lower normally. Any help or guidance would be great. The Gym...

Thank you so much for the response. This was very motivational. I've thought about doing jazzercise. I did it many moons ago for about a year but that was when I was much lighter than I am now. I have gone to the gym three times so far and your response really helped me go. So thank you. Im hitting a stall now at 10 weeks and trying so hard not to be disheartened. April Sleevers

Hello. I had my surgery yesterday 4/18/19. I am not experiencing any complications. Surgery went fine. I am able to walk, take in fluids, etc. No dizziness or vomiting. I’m waiting to be discharged today. Praying things continue like this when I go home.
  10. Looking for advice. My surgery was May 10, 2018 I am down 60 lbs. goal is 100. I have not moved on the scale and I know why it’s from poor choices with food. I workout regularly so that has helped me maintain thankfully. What I am looking for is if anyone has apps they use for gastric sleeve patients that help measure food intake on the daily. I want something motivating as I am in a bit of a slump clearly. I have had two set backs one nasal surgery that had me out for any type of exercise for a month and most recently a stress fracture in my foot. Other than that it’s all food which has always been my struggle hence the surgery for the sleeve. Really just need to push myself to see some movement in the right direction. Thanks In advance for any advice. SW 275.6 GW 175 CW 219
  11. Yep. Also the 8-10 month lull is a real thing. I've seen it in myself and in so many other sophomores! Bottom line, to lose? I need to be at 600-850cals per day, <25-30g net carbs, 60-75g protein, and healthy fats to fill up the remaining cals. It's about 30-45g fat per day. Absolutely no alcohol. Very little artificial sweeteners. And I do IF. LOL. It helped me get my last 20lbs off. I started IF in my 9th month. I can easily get my protein in from food and get 100+oz water/liquid daily.
  12. I’m 5 weeks post op. 3/11 sleeve. I’ve lost maybe 14 pounds. I’ve lost 5 inches in my waist. I lost 10 the week after surgery. Gained back 5. Relost that plus a few more. I haven’t lost anything in a week. I eat about 600 calories a day. 80+ protein 10 carbs max. I don’t go to the gym but I do work two jobs. I only get about 6000 - 7000 steps a day on average. I poo MAYBE once a week. I’m not sure what to do. Do I up my calories to 800? I go to the dr on 4/24. I’ve got a lot of questions for him. I was losing more before surgery. Help!

    Diarrhea....

Hi everyone, My surgery day was 4/15/19 and everything went well. Doctor told me it lasted 45 min and it was a clean surgery. However I had a reaction to the antibiotics (4) different kinds of them so I didn’t take (or was given) any during or after the procedure. First day post of i felt this “hunger” pulling sensation coming from my stomach and I vomited old blood 3 times. I freaked out but my surgeon explained to me that was normal. Anyone else experience this? I was lucky to go to the bathroom 2 days post op with any problems but today my need to go “really bad” woke me up at 5:30am I rushed to the toilet and had diarrhea. I am worried because some articles say this can mean a complication. So far it’s only been one it’s been about 25 min. I felt so weak that I had to sit instead of going back to bed. I just had 1 oz of Gatorade and I’m praying it stays in. Please let me know if you’ve experience this. Every little thing freaks me out!

Hey feliz when you say your esophagus is stretched how is that? I had a revision on my lap band two days ago because my stomach and intestine went through the band. I’m a gastric bypass first then I started over 10 years to slowly start putting my weight back on so I looked for a dr. That would put a band over my gastric bypass.

To Frustr8: I’d love to get to know you. You’re my kinda gal! I worked for over 10 years fitting mastectomy bras. And yep... saw lots of tube sox titties! And now I get to see my own. Hahaha! I too want to see 175 or less, but I almost cannot wait to see less than 200. It’s been over 36 years! ( I had 4 over 9 lb pregnancies, and it was with the second that I went over 200. Like I said, I can hardly wait!!! Always enjoy your posts!

    Gastric Bypass - Help?!

Certainly! :) I’m right there with you about taking away my comfort food. I went on a liquid diet 10 days prior to my surgery and during the time, all I wanted was to turn to my comfort food and give up. But in the back of my head I stayed strong. It definitely takes some strong will power to stay away and the though of losing your comfort food makes it that much harder. I could literally have the worst day ever and I could go to a fast food place, sit in the parking lot and just devour food and my whole day would turn around and I’d be happy. That’s how much food change my emotions. But when I went to the doctor and he told me at the rate I was going with high BP, high cholesterol, a very unhealthy liver, I was due to have a heart attack within 10 years. He said by the time you’re 38, you’re on track to have a heart attack if not sooner. It was a complete eye opener and game changer, being I had lost my father from a heart attack just 2 years ago. So you really need to find your will power and strength. Hopefully find a new comfort to make you feel better when you have down days. The gym also helps with those days for me. You can do it! Feel free to ask me anything!

    Dating after surgery

So, I got on Tinder shortly after my sleeve surgery. (What was I thinking?! I hadn't dated in YEEEEEARS!) I had lost about 40 pounds and was already feeling so good - mentally and physically. The three biggest takeaways I got after using Tinder for three months: 1) Meet for coffee. Keep it casual. Going to dinner with someone you don't know can be excruciating, especially if you haven't been talking for long and you feel there's pressure for it to go well. Meeting for adult drinks is casual, but obviously it's not good for your stomach and if the date goes well, you won't be able to keep up after a drink or two. When you meet for coffee, there's no pressure to finish food or explain yourself. 2) Expect the unexpected. Guys you think that are totally into you will disappear. Guys you thought may not have the time of day for you will want to meet you out of the blue. There's hardly any courtesy on Tinder (e.g. ghosting, cancelled dates, flaking, etc.) 3) People are diverse. There are SOOOOOO many unique souls out there! Wow. Like, a lot. We just need to find ONE (I'm assuming you want to be monogamous lol). It will take time - or, at least, it usually does. I met guys that I knew almost immediately were not my type but enjoyed my time with them because I learned more about them and myself in the process. I will always be uncomfortable with my body. I know that sounds sad, but it's something I feel is true. And while I've made SOOOOOO much progress with my weight and my confidence, I know I will always feel uncomfortable being naked. So I eventually got off Tinder. Why? Because I met my boyfriend. He's silly, sweet, and supports me 100%. Once we began dating in earnest and were having meals together, he asked baldly, "Did you have weight loss surgery?" I felt my heart fall to the floor. OMG OMG OMG I didn't want him to know!!! WTF?!! And in those few seconds I realized I needed to be honest with him even though it was embarrassing and I was upset he would ask something so personal. I said, "Yeah, I did - why?" He told me he noticed I didn't eat very much and his friend had also recently done it. But he asked so casually because he said he didn't think it was a big deal. (!!!!) Fast forward 10 months later, we're still happily dating. I'm uncomfortable with my body but he's always telling me how much he loves everything about me including my body (which is SO hard to believe but I just go with it). He makes me feel comfortable in every possible way which is what I needed. Yes, I need therapy. LOL
  20. Lol, okay so @FluffyChix wisely talked me down from a true IF since I’m only 10 weeks post-sleeve, but I still follow this thread. I love Dr Fungs style and will so totally be trying some actual IF once I hit 6-8 months post. What I pretty much do every single day is a 16:8. My sleeve is soooooo tight in the morning that only water (and more recently coffee) will sit well in the morning and I usually have zero food of any kind till 11am-ish. I try to make sure I have nothing after 7pm and I take an 800mcg Chromium supplement with my evening meal. I have to admit that the only reason I start eating at 11am is that it freaks me out to not have protein coming in after 15-16 hours of fasting and I know my sleeve is only going to be able to hold so much this early so I don’t (and shouldn’t) go longer. However, have gone a couple occasions where the fast has been longer and I felt great. Can’t wait to play around with a 24 then 48 hour fast in a few months

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay. So for some reason I’m feeling adventurous and I’m gonna post some pre-surgery and 10 week photos. The first one is from Christmas Eve. My thin sister ambushed me and took the pic before could protest. The second set is a recurring monthly now: hubs takes front and profile pics so we can track how the body is changing. Lol, less than 4 months between these photos and NOBODY has said they’ve noticed a loss. In fact, I had a coworker yesterday ask me did I think I was losing any weight. I was kinda stunned and didn’t really say anything besides “ I’ve lost over 50 pounds since I started this journey”. 😝🤪 Guess maybe the next 50 pounds someone will say something. 🤣🤣
  22. HI All, Need a little assist here. Was Sleeved 2/11/19... In the morning I am normally rushed (get myself ready and kids ready and to school and then off to work all by 7:30am) and don't have time to make a meal... I was taking my vitamins and meds before I left the house in the morning (Bariatric Choice ONCE DAILY Vitamin, Ursodiol, a bp med, and pantoprazole), however afte rtaking the pills on my way to work I would gag and cough and a couple times had to pull over to vomit... So I thought I had a solution - On my way to work I drink a Premier Protein shake and then take the pills, so I have at least something in my stomach when I take the pills. It went well for a couple weeks and then today I got the same thing soon after taking the pills and had to pull over... Anyone else have this issue? and is there any good solution?

    Pounds lost

Had gastric sleeve in Sept of 2017, got a leak, multiple surgeries to fix it (which ended up stretching out my sleeve). Lost 80 lbs. Gained back about 25 lbs. Had RNY Feb 5th 2019, lost the 25 I gained plus I lost another 15. Lost a total of 95 lbs.
  24. Hello... thanks for the advice... this would have been my first missed appointment out of the entire 6 months I guess that's why I am upset because I had 6 months and now a 10 pound weight gain at the end, nonetheless I will go to my appointment.
