    2/6 Sleevers Check In

I been feeling good. Lost 19 so far including pre op 1 week liquid diet.Feels slow to me but I KNOW I couldn't do that on my own! Today is the 1st day I ever had any problems... Pretty sure I had the slimes! It was an awful feeling and I know I just ate too fast! WON'T be doing that again. I still feel kinda crappy and that was almost 5 hrs ago so I'm just gonna do liquids the rest of he nite. Other than this one incident I have not had any problems eating or drinking. Thank goodness!

    Help! Thighs are dying!

It's not impossible! I did it. Training can be whatever you you want. One does not have to be hurling heavy weights. High rep low weights would be great to maintain muscle tone. You still need a recovery time though. I would not waste the surgery's fastest period of weight loss until hunger returns... It might not return for a year or more....One can make up Protein easily by adding Protein Powder to meals. Carbs are more difficult Will need to squeeze in an extra meal. Or do a ketogenic diet. Eating lean Protein meats and cheese is generally low carb and sets one up for a ketogenic diet. I put myself on a ketogenic diet without even trying. Lean meats and cheese for Snacks. When I wanted vegetables, it was sweet peas because good Fiber, carbs and Protein. My Protein bars I would eat would have a good carb content, low sugar and low fat. Be creative. To be clear, I am saying going to the gym even every day, is ok. And by that, I mean once a day, and giving entire muscle groups enough rest days between training. If she is going 2-3 times a day, I don't know what to say, may it's cardio, maybe it's treadmilling, one can do brisk walks more than once and and everyday. She really did not elaborate. I know I can go to the gym, do my "leg day" and later on run a 5 or 10 k, because I am not running hard, just jogging along. Running is something that can be done almost everyday, if one spreads out at least one rest day in the week.Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Please someone guide me!

I would do the abdominoplasty. Bigger benefit for your buck, but depends on which bothers you more. Pain was minimal for me and VERY manageable with the pain meds. I had a TT/Panni on 10/17/2013
  5. I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet, my surgery is May 27th. I only had to do it for 10 days, so I'm feeling for you!! I actually got some cream of Chicken Soup in Hand from Campbell's which only has 150 calories. Although it only has 3g of protein, I saved some calories for my dinner so that I could do this soup last night. It really filled me up and I had one today for lunch, so I'll just do a shake tonight. Wish you lots of luck!!

    30/30 Rule

For four weeks post-op (during liquids and mushies stages), my doctor's rule was the same as Wishin4's-10/60. Now that I am on solids it is 10 before and 30 after.
  7. NO WAY, U SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT MORE THEN THAT. AT LEAST 4 OZ. IM HAVING THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM, I FEEL NO RESTRICTION WHAT SO EVER. LIKE I WASNT EVEN OPERATED ON. I HAVE LOST ONLY 4 LBS SINCE I WAS BANDED ON 11/06 AND HAVE BEEN BEYOND DEPRESSED. I THOUGHT I WOULD LOSE THE FIRST 10 LBS IN A WEEK BECUZ OF THE LIQUID DIET AND BARELY ANYYYYYYYYYY CALORIES. OH WELL:confused: BUT YES, FOR SURE U WILL BE EATING MORE AND SOON.

    banded on the 7th

i've lost 9 pounds so far, but all week it has been crazy up and down by about 10 pounds due to all the swelling, and everything else...i know it feels like without eating or drinking much you should be 20 pounds down by now, but our bodies have to adjust. hang in there...they say the first 4 weeks are about healing and the rest is about losing....so try not to worry too much for now

    Protein HELP!

My Dr preop diet is 1 day of liquids & fasting after midnight. I am planning on 3 days of semi liquids & trying to beef up my protein before Wednesday. I am trying to take it easy on holiday meals. Saturday is the last one (I hope)! So beginning Sunday I am planning on liquids for 2 meals & 1 low fat meal high protein meal. Does that sound ok?? I really haven't been given any preop diet other than the day before. I was just told I need to loose 3 pounds before the day of surgery. I think I am down 10 right now. Really unsure but thankful for the forum!

UHC Oxford 6 month waiting period

Hello, I also have UHC and they are pretty strict with the 6 month program. It seems like a long time but really the time flew by. I would suggest you make sure you are on a good 6 month plan. I know someone who did WW but didn't track all of the exercise etc and got denied. My surgeon's office has a whole team that will assist with the 6 month program and they know what it takes to get you approved through your insurance. I just got approved for my surgery, it only took them 10 days from the date the ppk was submitted. Also the plan helps you to start eating better so it is not such a drastic change. As for your job, I am not sure about that but if you lost it, it would probably still be cheaper to get the COBRA coverage than to self pay for the surgery. Best of luck.

Just Got Home From Hosp, have A Question

My post op diet instructions went like this first week - thin liquids second week - thick liquids third week - soft foods fourth week - regular foods advance as tolerated by days 8 - 10 I was eating soft foods. I was told absolutely no Peanut Butter. However other folks eat peanut butter just fine. I personally don't like it so I don't eat it. Didn't your surgeon give you any guidelines? My doc had a specific day by day what I could eat packet that I had to read before surgery. Matter of fact he read it to me at my preop appointment.

    Do you think it possible....

Chocolate Snaps thanks for your response... Since my 17 lbs a month doesn't sound likes gonna happen; I am going to try for at lease 10 a month and since my vacation is about 4 mos away that would put me in the 230's. The extra 7 lbs a month would out me close to 200... but o well as long as I am loosing I will be happy.

Can't get fill volume right- please help!

I can totally relate to you! I had no problems with surgery and my first few fills. I was banded in July, then in October I developed a gas bubble that totally blocked my upper stoma. They almost completely unfilled me. I have been getting very small fills and am having to take a little out. For example, I will receive a .4 fill and have to have .2 taken out about 10 days later. Right now, I am having problems with acid reflux. So..we took out .2 cc. I am still having a little problem and will need to go back if it doesn't resolve. I am on liquids for 48 hours to see if that helps. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Just Banded!

glad to hear everything went so smoothly. mine went fast and smooth too. the only pain i felt was on the left side for 10 days , felt like a badly pulled muscle. hope all goes well for you. im banded 4 months ago, best decision ever ! Good luck and let us know how you're doing. you've got lots of support here !
  16. Had my VSG revision (from LapBand) scheduled for tomorrow (8/15/17) in Mexico. Got down to do the pre-op testing. All was going well, vitals were all good, I lost the prescribed weight, but then... Apparently either I missed the question or it wasn't recorded properly in the pre-screen that I have had Hepatitis B in the past. Mind you, my HepB was 30 years ago and was acute (meaning no ongoing symptoms). Also, I had LapBand 8 years ago and there were absolutely no liver issues then and I have numerous liver panels through the years with no ongoing liver function issues. However, out of an abundance of caution - they want to run a fresh liver function blood test and the results take 10 days to process. Assuming it's good, they will reschedule. This means my surgery is postponed a minimum of two weeks and possibly longer depending on their availability. The real kick in the teeth is I have to stay on the pre-op diet the whole time.
  17. I havent had any psychological regrets as of yet and know I most likely will not. I know I will be able to eat the decent foods I loved to eat before, just not yet. The thing that held me back was not being able to over indulge like I'm used to . Once I said to myself I was being absolutely ridiculous and need way less food in my life than I was used to indulging on it was an easy decision to make. My surgeon was great the hospital was great with the exception of the messed up wheel on my IV stand that made it sound like a horror movie as I walked the halls at 3am, things went smooth. The worst point is the first 10 minutes after waking up..It does get better hour by hour literally.

    Stall Solution?

I had "pneumonia" in July and August, then alot of pain in my left shoulder and side again and it won't go away. I had severe pain previously in March whenever they found the leak originally, but it was excrutiating pain back then; now it's a slow stabbing/burning pain... oh the joy of it all lol. I've had an MRI to make sure it wasn't arthritis starting, yeah another great thing to tell me that I'm just getting old so let's do an MRI to make sure it's not that lol... then I have had chest xrays and CAT scans to make sure it was a leak... the last CAT scan was of my chest and abd region, laying down and bam, they saw it then ... it was about 10 mm in August... now it's about 8 mm which doesn't sound like much of a difference but is a huge difference in a month, thankfully. My dr's watching the diameter region (which is way too mathematical for me to explain, hello I was a liberal arts major in college/grad school due to my unfortunately weak math skills! lol). Another month of liquids and I hope the thing will plug up and be closed, then I just have to be careful on not overeating to break the plug. Bad thing is, I do still struggle with "just one more bite" unfortunately and that can do it! This journey is a never ending process isn't it? Ok back to you and the stall equation.... Do you have a NUT? I was self pay so I don't but that might help you as I've seen other readers/posters say they go to one (I see it on MFP alot too, I'm more on there than here and I use the statuses!). Does the cherry juice have a lot of sugar in it? I log my Vitamins (as they have calories) ... so I just wonder if that is adding to your intake as well. If you are that active from your work and are hungry on 700 calories a day, now I am not a NUT, but I think it's sensical to up your intake a bit. Try 900 and see if you are less hungry but still loosing for instance. It's a "tweaking" game really. You have to figure out where your body responds, but what I posted earlier in that list of suggestions, that's a good guide of what items to play with to find the magical equation for YOU. At least it has been for me, but I'm just attempting to figure this out as all of us are! The 60-90 mins of cardio is what shocked me - and what usually most of us get quiet about. Sounds like you are doing that at work and WITH the gout so kudos to you Chelle! Keep rocking it girl!

    Dizzy Feeling

I am almost 3 weeks post op and have the same feeling. Dizzy spells. I have not passed out. I drink 7+ glasses of fluids a day so I don't think its dehydration. My urine is not a bright yellow either. At my 1st followup appointment with my PCP 10 days post op, my blood pressure was low. At that time she asked me if i got dizzy when I stood up and I wasn't having the spells at that time. I meet with my surgeon and I will be bringing up this issue. I've noticed the more calories I get in a day, the better I feel. Its hard because my post op diet is very strict. I'm only allowed 3 meals a day. No snacking, and a Protein shake is a meal not a liquid. My shakes are only allowed of 4 ounces as well. Very strict so I have been struggling to get over 250 calories a day. Very low. I do not take any blood pressure meds, but I have a feeling that I will be prescribed some to increase my blood pressure. I also haven't started my Vitamins yet except my B12 per there guidelines. I'm sure once I start up again, I will start feeling better.

    Driving....?

I would really recommend letting your surgeon know that you need to drive home and how far away it is. I'm pre-op but I'm going to be taking a taxi to the hospital and a taxi home. It's only 10 minutes away.

    Pancreatic Disease/issues

I had Pancrititis in 97 which had nothing to do with the band or gall stones. I had a reaction to a medication that put me in the hospital with it and it got so bad that I ended up with Lactic Acidosis on top of it. My body pretty much turned itself into a acid factory, I couldn't keep anything down and my body was starting to shut itself down. Luckily one of the staff of Doctors which I had probably about 10-12 of them trying to figure out stuff, but a Nephrologist was able to figure it out working with my sister and they found a specialist that deals with it. Anyway My Mom also got Pancrititis because she had a couple of pea sized gall stones caught int he bile ducts. Which caused this issue on her, not fun at all. You do feel pain when it is coming on, this might sound horribly gross but when you vomit it is kind of unlike anything else you have seen. She had to be taken to the ER by Ambulance, and I did tell the Paramedics to check for Pancrititis first thing. They relayed the info and it was correct, that is kinda how distinct the vomit is Gross part: Vomit in cases that I have heard of or seen personally. It almost a flourescent green color, with what looks like multi colors of yellow and almost swirly.. think of the painting A starry night but in shades of green!!! Cannot keep anything down! I have not had any issues since being banded, however having gone through this before I am careful what I do eat and even if weight loss is a bit slower that is fine with me. The pain you feel with it is pretty severe, vomiting, alot of times a fever, and just plain wiped out. But you wont most likely be able to keep anything down.. Popsicle, Gatorade, Water, anything.... try not to be freaked out about it just get it checked out.

First post with a Thank You!

It's official!! I now have a surgery date (7/1/10). I will be on the losers bench before you know it. Thanks again, goes to the forum and the members for helping me make the decision. Maybe I can help other people after surgery by telling my experiences, like the members here have helped me!
  23. THANK YOU!! i swear i replied to this....but i don't see it! so here i go again! I hope Dec 18th gets here QUICK for you!i bet you are SOOOO excited!! I am now 46 pounds down!! 4 pounds to losing FIFTY POUNDS! WOW!!! 6 pounds to be in the 130's! 10 until my Labor Day challenge goal (135!) We went to New Orleans this past weekend...i LOST WEIGHT while gone! WOO HOO! I worked out while gone, ate good at most meals, but ate what i wanted when we went to a nice place (cheesecake bistro!) and i STILL LOST!! I was so worried i wouldn't be able to eat, or would get stuck, since no one knows i've had this....and it was all fine!! of course not one person said a SINGLE work about me having lost the weight.....50 pounds was not noticed? REALLY? :rolleyes2: oh well.... I haven't lost it for THEM...i did it for ME, and i feel SO MUCH BETTER about MYSELF!
  24. I'm just worried I won't get my results in time for my clearance appt September 25th and before october 6th when they send my paperwork into insurance. My sleep study is from 10pm till 6:30am sep 11th-12th. I guess I'll bring a bandana or something to wear cause I have more tests to do on another floor of the hospital at 10 am and I don't want to shower at the hospital.
  25. I've lost 10 lbs this month and 13 the month before...loss has been fairly steady save for a couple of plateaus here and there. I try to average anywhere between 1000 and 1300 calories daily, but am probably getting no more than 700. I drink at least 6 cups/water daily. I have one whey protein shake daily. I have a lot of food allergies, but based on discussions with my dietician I don't think the problem is quality. I think my body is just continuing to adjust to eating differently and less. I would just like the adjustment to be over.
