    Absorption of Antidepressants?

I found my med mix in 2010. Had surgery 2012. Lowest weight was 200 lbs. Had weight gain due to loss of control over my environment. I had to move in with my mother to take care of her after an accident and she had goodies. Needless to say I gained due to being unable to ignore food that ws sitting right by my bed. I was staying in her combo livingroom, kitchen, diningroom. Moved out and the weight gain stopped. A year later I got a grip on losing at least a lb a month. Now I am considering revision. bupropion is great. I find it not only combats depression but deals with compulsive behavior I.e. compulsive overeating.

    48 hour pouch test

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am so sorry you are unhappy with your weight gain and hope you find a workable solution. Are you still tracking your food, especially your Protein? Have you talked with your NUT lately? I hope the porch test works for you (even though you have a sleeve and not a pouch) but would think that going back to basics would help. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Best of luck.

    First fill 2ccs 10/24/07

Dear Diary, It's been awhile, I haven't been on site lately. I'm trying to get back to a routine. So much has happened. I am sorry to say at my last Dr. appointment I had actually gained 8 lbs.. My Dr. was very upset with me. He said you're such a nice person don't you care about yourself? You have diabetes and you're eating sweets. You need to see the psychiatrist immediately at least 2 times. He is a bariatric specialized psychiatrist that uses a cognitive approach. I know it would be helpful but he isn't covered by my insurance and pre-op visit alone (mandatory) was 220.00 He then proceeded to give me my first fill and said no matter how many fills I get if I continue to eat sweets I won't lose weight. He had some trouble finding the right part of my port and had to keep sticking me then manuevering syringe. He finally came in at a steep angle and filled my band. He said jokingly that this was my penance for eating poorly. As soon as I left the office--without making my next appointment ( I left quickly) and cried as soon as I got into the hall. My brother who had come with me was very worried. He asked if the doctor hurt me, I said no it was my own fault then went home and cried more. Even though I knew I had lost control and was eating way too many sweets. Sweets are my weakness. I was still disappointed about my weight gain. I now know I should have called the office and insisted on getting a fill after 6 weeks post op. I was hungry and could eat whatever I wanted so I did.I felt like such a failure. Here I went through surgery and I'm sabatoging my efforts. My doctor believes you should postpone doing fills until you have lost as much as possible on your own, without restriction. I assume full responsibility for my hand to mouth disease. I felt like the poster girl for What Not To Do With Lapband. Now on the bright side-- here it is almost 4 weeks later and I have lost the 8 plus 2 more pounds. I still need to call and set up an appointment but I am not letting the doc anywhere near my port. I have enough fill for now. I'm still getting used to eating post band fill. I've even vomited a few times. Soft bread and vegatables are a problem. I really have to chew carefully and limit bite size. At home I use a crab fork and take small bites. It really helps. I also use a jam spoon and that helps as well for yogurt etc. I really have to plan ahead because I need to concentrate on getting in enough protein. Sometimes at the end of the day I will have a protein shake to up calories and protein. I am finding that after my fill that I have really cut back on portions as well as my appetite. I am finally seeing the light and starting to believe I made the right decision by having the Lapband.:whoo: Much to my relief. I was eating grapes this morning, 3 grapes to be exact and that was enough. I chuckled because the quantities I am eating are so small. Yet I am satisfied so I am happy. I find I am more cheerful and upbeat. I even have more of a lap for my nephews to sit on while I read to them. I have also had to buy new pants in a smaller size. We're going to Claim Jumper for Thanksgiving and they serve huge portions, so I am taking a small cooler to store my leftovers. Leftovers from restaraunts are another thing I'm getting used to. Before I seldom had leftovers. Well good night all. Take care and keep your chin up.

Weightloss definitely impacts your hormone levels. BCP definitely manipulate hormones. The connection between the two could be none, or could be all - only your doc can say for sure. I haven't experienced anything hormonal (that I can tell anyway) with my weightloss, but I'm not on BCP, either. However I was on BCP during my weight gain, and had to stop taking them because I starting getting completely spontaneous superficial thrombophlebitis -- in really weird places.

I'm not sure why but it is in BIG BOLD LETTERS on our list, no protein that is made from soy protein Isolate. Whey Protein Isolate only. I didn't question it because there is SO MUCH to learn and do, I'm just trying to follow the plan given. However I googled it just now and there are a lot of hits about it.. including causing Weight gain... "It contains a chemical known as goitrogen, which can affect the hormones needed to boost your metabolism. This can lead to weight problems and other concerns." https://www.google.com/search?source=hp&ei=Jr_4W63RCseSjwSChJPwBA&q=why+soy+protein+isolate+is+bad+for+you&oq=why+soy+protein&gs_l=psy-ab.1.2.0l3j0i22i30l7.5749.11366..20053...1.0..0.98.1491.16......0....1..gws-wiz.....0..35i39j0i131j0i20i263.uPvjmkI9Bow
  6. I have a low BMI. I weigh 207 give or take. My doctor doesn't want me to lose too much beacuse I will go under the BMI. Like a lot of people I have lost weight before but then gained it back. Last year I lost 20lbs and was down to 186 and it felt so good. I even got to stop taking my blood pressure meds, and had energy to have fun, exercise and my self esteem was so high. I had surgery in fall 2007 and got a staph infection and had to go in for surgery again and then gained 25LBS!! This weight gain this time has taken a toll on my knees and I have little energy. I hate this 6 month diet and wish I had enough money to self-pay. When I am thinner I feel good, I exercise, get out and swim, etc. My insurance is bad too I have to pay HALF . I feel like I am doing okay at work, but I do have a hard time at home with the diet. I saw things on here about having to give up bread, what other things beside soda should I go ahead and give up and did anyone else have problems witht the diet. I am afraid of cutting everything out and exercising too much because of the low BMI. What do you all think, thanks and I have learned a lot on this.
  7. In order to gain 2 pounds of body fat you need to consume just over 7000 calories in excess of what you burn. The weight gain is likely due to glycogen stores rebuilding (what your liver stores for fuel - this can weigh up to 6 pounds) as well as the weight of the food in your body. Unless you are consuming excess calories you are not buring, I don't think you should be concerned or obsess.

One Week And Two Days Out And I've Lost....

I checked my weight and I'm at 227 - sounds awesome but have you have remember I gained 10 pounds...so in really I'm down 3 pounds... but it's okay it will start to come off!!!!

    5 years out...gaining weight

Welcome to the site. No judgment for a weight gain. Can happen to any of us. People new to surgery can learn from what your going through. I had to get my head back into the game. It takes going through some mental battles to give up the carbs, sugar and extra calories. I went to basics. Log food in an app, hydrate, follow food plan and exercise. I joined a weight loss challenge for support. here is the January weight loss challenge https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/421742-❤-january-2019-challenge-❤/

Having a weak moment or two

I TOTALLy get it!!! My second day home from the hospital, by baby sitter was downstairs making home made lasagna with my kids and I thought I was ok. I was starving and the smells were so good. Out of no where.....seriously I don't even know where it came from...I went into my bathroom and started bawling. I rarely cry like that. I had to call my mom to help get me grounded as I had to go downstairs and Celebrate my son's 5th birthday. I think I was a little overwhelmed by the whole thing. Thinking that I will never be able to eat the way I used to. Yeah...I know that's what I signed up for with the surgery. But still....I think I needed to break down and mourn the loss. I agree that I don't think it that unusual. Also, in terms of the weight gain.....be kind to yourself. I only allow myself to weigh once a week. It's too easy to get really neurotic over numbers. One thing I have learned over a million years of weight loss is that our bodies constantly fluctuate....whether it is Water weight, period weigh, the body trying to reach homeostasis etc.....it all even's out in the end. Unless we are eating candy and drinking milk shakes...I don;t see how it is possible NOT to loose weight with tiny stomachs. Just watch the sugar intake and focus on the Protein. Hugs to you!!!!
  14. Today is the first day of the rest of my life, because today is the day I decided that this weight thing is serious enough for me to start considering the other options. I'm terrified. But, I guess I should probably start out with Hello. My name is Jen, I just turned 30, and I live in sunny Florida with my husband and 4 year old. All of my life, I have been heavy. I remember weighing one sixteen in the 6th grade, which was heavy then because I was just a wisp of a girl. My heaviest was 350, during my first marriage. I dumped the ex, got divorced, and lost 60 lbs by diet and exercise. I had my time of partying, feeling good, met my current husband. That led two two pregnancies, of only one which made it, and the plateau of weight gain that followed. I'll be honest and admit that I was a freak of nature, I only gained a total of 7lbs during my full term pregnancy, it was the afterwards that it really piled on. Now, I have terrible pain in my feet if I walk around, and I know that it has to do with my weight. Currently, I know I am about 300lbs or more. I get too depressed to look at the scales, so I try to avoid them, but I know that my pant size has gone up. Also, seeing pictures of myself disgusts me so much I have asked my relatives not to take any. And if they do, they are not to post them on social networking sites. It truley is sad when you can see a picture of yourself at 260lbs, and think "I want to be -that- girl again!" Which leads me to yesterday. Yesterday, I was sitting next to my husband thinking that I do not wish to be unattractive anymore. I slept with that in the back of my head, and woke up this morning thinking "I am ready to start looking at the options." So I've been researching all morning, (With a bag of potato chips.... What cruel irony.) and I find my stomach flipping in knots. A gastric sleeve! How frightening! RNY? I can't even look at the photographs. Lap band? Seems like the least invasive. But what about band slippage, erosion, all the side affects. I am scared. But I know it is what has to be done, and I am in the process of finding out the insurance options for me. (Currently on Florida Medicaid, but I'd be happy to hear any of the options you ladies/gentlemen have, or if anyone else has Florida Medicaid.) So really, I guess I am asking.... Where do I start? What are the chances and rates of side effects, and how long have some of you had your bands?
  15. Hey! I had my surgery on 9/30/08... and am on my second week of mushies. I was losing quite a bit weekly, and my weight loss has slowed since on mushies. I think that it is only natural that the weight loss becomes slowed and/or weight gain due to the change in diet. I know that when I was on full liquids, there wasn't much that I ate that was over 100 cal, thus my weight loss was rapid. I weigh myself on Thursday, as I ONLY weigh myself once a week to avoid preoccupation and panic with the "numbers game". I am also VERY hungry, but get my first fill 11/13... hang in there.... we can do this... and in the words of my wise bariatric RN "it is not a sprint, it is a marathon"- shout out to Terry Marentette at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI!!
  16. I am a 40 year old former college athlete. Prior to 2010, I was 6ft 3 1/2 inches weighing approximately 315...which was 85lbs heavier than my college playing weigh 20 years ago. Nonetheless I was pretty active and never really had any issues maintaining or losing weight whenever necessary. In 2009, I was starting to experience problems sleeping (night sweats, light sleeping), fatigue, and weight loss. After seeing my primary care doctor, I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease which is basically an overactive thyroid. I was taking medicine for this until July of 2010 when my life would change forever. In July 2010, I had an episode called a "thyroid storm" where my thyroid went all out wack causing me to be hospitalized in the ICU for 2 weeks. This was actually a life threating dilemma as my blood pressure and heart rate shot through the roof and I was dealing with severe dehydration, diarrhea, and a few other things. Needless to say, I made it out of the woods and recovered but in October of 2010, I had a total thyroidectomy (removed my thyroid). One of the main things that your thyroid controls is your metabolism and prior to having it removed the endocrinologist told me that some patients experience weight gain but as long they get the correct dosage of thyroid replacement meds and as long as I workout regularly, I should be fine. Being that I was a former college athlete and I was still semi active, working out was not an issue for me. Little did I know what was in store for me... Shortly after recovering from my thyroidectomy, I was down to 302lbs and remembering what the doctors had told me, I began working out 4 times a week for a least an hour each time (cardio). I was also advised by my endocrinologist that I should maintain a 2500 calorie a day diet that I was pretty strict about rarely going over 2500 calories...maybe 3000 calories on a few ocassions. Despite my efforts I was noticing that I was beginning to gain weight...slowly. I would do quarterly visits with my endocrinologist and they would up my doses of levothyroxine (thyroid replacement) and she would tell me to "push away from the table more". I told her that I was following her advise to no avail. After a few more visits (6 month's time). I was still gaining weight at an alarming rate. I was starting to experience fatigue and several other issues associate with weight gain. Finally the endocrinologist upped my dosage to 200 mcg (from 100 mcg). At this point I was extremely frustrated with this endo and decided to get another doctor. The second doctor that I started seeing was no better than the first, she offered no solution to sudden weight gain despite working out and despite monitoring my diet. When I explained to her that I was considering weight loss surgery as a last resort she said well maybe you should...that was the last time that I saw her. In January of 2012, I made the decision to have weight loss surgery. At this point, I've gained 100 + pounds and it wasn't until recently that the weight gain had really stopped. I am now 425lbs...the heaviest I've ever been. I now have issues getting around without being tired or my back hurting, my desire to workout is pretty non existant, sex life is bad, sleeping is an issue, and the list goes on. I went through Dr. Fullom's 6 month program and was approved for surgery. My first surgery was scheduled for October of 2012 but was cancelled due to some blood work that came back. Since then my surgery has been cancelled 3 times for the same reason...they thought that my blood was too thin. Since then I've seen the hemotologist and I now have my clearance letter from him and I'm scheduled to have my surgery on April 11, 2013. I am extremely excited about this new chapter in my life and I'm ready to go "All In". I am somewhat nervous because of the whole thyroidectomy/slow metabolism issue.

Gained a bunch of weight back

Firstly congratulations on your initial weight loss and for keeping up the exercise regime...it isn't easy. It's a sad fact that we bandsters do in fact have to diet to lose our weight (or as others prefer to put it "make the right food choices") and if we falter on this or our capacity increases due to an unfill then the inevitable happens. Never heard of a body bugg but sounds great advice.....I use fitday.com to monitor what I eat and what I use up and it helps keep me focused once my mind is in the right direction. I would definitely try a small fill and see how it goes, as you seem to be doing everything else right. As for your weight gain....don't worry about it, as the band is there to help you in these times......I lost 150lbs in my 1st year then regained 84 of them very quickly (chocolate has that effect) but have since lost that again and am now striving to lose the rest of what I should have lost by now. We bandsters (most of us) need to diet and exercise I'm afraid, to be a success, so you will get there (you wouldn't like to kick me up the backside to get me to workout 4-5 times a week would you please? lol) Don't be too hard on yourself.....you're doing great!!
  18. since my december 3 surgery. i was doing great. lost almost 30 lbs including the weightloss from the pre-op diet. then...the holidays hit. i was finally able to eat normal food but it had to be on the softer side. anyways, i have gained almost 6 lbs. i don't feel the full feeling like i did a few weeks ago after surgery. i know its because my stomach isn't swollen from surgery anymore and that i transitioned out of a liquid diet but i just need assurance that it will not be like this after i get my fills. it scares me that i can eat so much without feeling "like i just ate a thanksgiving dinner"..as my clinic told me how i would feel after eating. anyways, this small weight gain has really put a damper on my journey and i feel completely guilty for it. any input helps. thanks!

    Artificial Sweetners!

I found this interesting and thought I would share... Artificial Sweeteners Tied to Weight Gain AOL Posted: 2008-02-11 11:07:34 (Feb. 11) - If you're watching your weight, those no-calorie sweeteners could be doing more harm than good. A Purdue University study found that artificial sweeteners might actually foster weight gain by confusing the body in a way that makes it harder to burn calories. <!-- MOD: info_genericpromo - 312043 --> In the study, one group of rats were fed yogurt sweetened with glucose, a simple sugar with the same calories as table sugar. Another group received yogurt with saccharin. The saccharin group went on to consume more calories, gain more weight and put on more body fat. Other artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame K could have similar effects, the study said. The findings come on the heels of a separate study that linked diet soda consumption to an increased likelihood of metabolic syndrome -- a combination of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes that include abdominal obesity, high cholesterol and blood glucose levels, and high blood pressure. When humans prepare to eat, their metabolism revs up and body temperature rises. The Purdue study found that the rats used to the saccharin had a smaller rise in body temperature after eating a sweet, high-calorie meal because their bodies were expecting fewer calories. Study authors Susan Swithers and Terry Davidson said they think this response both led to overeating and made it harder to burn off sweet-tasting calories. The research might explain why other studies about the effects of artificial sweeteners on weight have largely been inconclusive, Swithers said. It might also explain in part why obesity has risen in parallel with use of such sweeteners. People can still count calories to regulate intake and body weight, Swithers said, although she acknowledged that it requires more conscious effort than consuming inherently low-calorie foods. The findings were published the February issue of Behavioral Neuroscience, which is published by the American Psychological Association.
  20. Post GS I went from 208 to 125lbs. I bounced between 125 to 128 was rarely hungry, could eat pretty much whatever I wanted. Three months ago I was diagnosed with pneumonia and prescribed prednisone and antibiotics. After 2 weeks was hospitalized for iv antibiotics and iv Solu-medrol followed by 3 more weeks of prednisone. I ballooned up to 147lbs and it’s been about 3 weeks since I stopped steroids. I am now hungry almost all of the time! I have cut down my caloric intake to a fraction of what I ate “pre-steroids.” Currently I weigh 139, it’s been a constant struggle, it’s like preGSV Did the steroids permanently screw up my system? Will I get my “system back” as it was before the steroids; if so how long will it take? Any suggestions? Or should I start saving $$$ for a revision? What scares and confuses me is I am actually eating LESS than I was before getting ill. The steroids slowed my metabolic rate.

You got to move it, move it.

I never shut up about it, it sneaks into all my posts! I am a passionate runner! During my weight loss phase, I ran a LOT - an hour six days a week, sometimes an hour and a half. All of that cardio stripped the weight off my body. Longer term, I've toned it down a bit. I love it so much, I want to be able to do it forever. I fulfilled a desire to do a half marathon, but my body is not really built for running, I'm an enthusiastic runner, not a gifted one. I stick to about 7 or 8kms maybe 4 times a week now - its just enough to keep the weight off, keep me keen, but not to get sore knees, hips and heels. Other days I do a bootcamp session, that's INTENSE! One day is cardio, the other strength training and he's just introduced a boxing session also. I'm going to drop the cardio session (I get plenty with my running) and do the boxing instead. Its a good balance for me, I manage to fit it all in around full time work. At the moment, I'm also running 3kms at lunchtime 3 days a week because I'm training the grade 3 to sixes for the upcoming cross country. Lots of cardio based stuff with bodyweight strength training works for me - I like to look long and lean, I dont have a great deal of muscle, but I like the look of the body I have and dont really want more. I can eat what I want without worrying about weight gain too.
  22. PSJ , I just recently went through a psych eval and like others stated it's to check your self esteem levels, see if you are suicidal. My test had a whole sheet on eating habits and the psych Dr. said it was to see if I had self controll and to see how I would react in diffrent environments with picinic, buffets or eating with other people who ate lots of food... Could I control myself. That part was extreamly interesting. I was really honest with my Dr. they ask us these questions for a reason and depression does result in weight gain for some people. Maybe the right combination of Medication can help my breast Friend calls it her " Happy Cocktail". I myself suffered from Pregnancy Purging. When I was pregnant with both of my children food made me ill so i ate and the purged. With the love and support from my family I no longer feel the need to do these things. So be honest and open and you may be suprised.
  23. Hi Chris! I too have Aetna (PPO) and I called them a week ago and they sent via email, a list of what will qualify in order for them to approve the surgery. Just give that number on the back of your card a call, and the rep can help you. mine was very helpfull. unfortunately, i can't relay the email to you because it's secretly coded via aetna lol. but yes, their main requirements is that 1) you have a BMI over 40 or 2) you have a BMI of at least 35 with any of the following co-morbidities: --sleep apnea --coronary heart disease --hypertension (greater than 140/90) --type II diabetes aetna also requires (under my plan anyhow) at least 2 years of documented weight gains/loss and documentation from PCP. or any of the documentation from weight loss programs (jenny craig, ww, etc). i heard from my doctor that aetna was one of the better insurances to have because generally we only have to undergo the 3 months of supervised diet/education vs. the usual 6 months others have. so call that number on the back of your card!!! good luck!

    Considering a sleeve in Tijuana.

Copied from another website in that it keeps disappearing from here. My coordinator was Shelly @ 5414502285. I've had problems for years that have caused me weight gain. Those problems are related to an overproduction of a hormone in my stomach that causes hunger. I have considered weight loss surgery in the past disregarded it after complications when my mom had weight loss surgery in 2001. She died in early 2002. She died of lung cancer that would have been present when they did her weight loss surgery but it was never caught. My weight has fluctuated a bit over the years with the highest weight that I have had of 333 pounds right around the time that my mom died to as low as 267 pounds just before my son was born in 2009. Various stresses in life have caused these fluctuations and I've never been able to truly get down to a normal weight. A few years ago I gained 30 pounds just by quitting drinking diet dr. Pepper. It turns out that I was allergic to the sweetener used in it. I was having multiple medical issues and almost all of it went away when I quit drinking diet dr. Pepper. Then due to my metabolism slowing down from the lack of caffeine my weight started to increase. In eight weeks from the time that I quit I gained those 30 pounds and I haven't been able to lose them since. I have been through all kinds of different diets throughout the years. The one that worked the best for me was the Atkins diet. Two years ago my doctor mentioned to me that I would be an excellent candidate for weight loss surgery. Through doing a bit of research we found that an ulcer caused my hormone imbalance in my stomach that we were unaware of. That hormone was 8 to 10 times higher then and somebody in my otherwise same shape. Half an hour after I would eat my levels would be 26 to 28 times higher. I spoke with my insurance company and they do not cover weight loss surgeries. I considered my options and decided to stay as a fat man for a while. My job requires that I have a commercial driver's license and I had heard rumor that the Department of Transportation was planning on changing the requirements for the medical card that if you have a BMI of 35 or higher they would require you to prove that you do not have sleep apnea. I do not have sleep apnea, it can be picked up on an overnight oximetry. I have used an oximeter many times but that is not considered proof. The combination of the Department of Transportation regulations changing and knowing that I physically had a problem with me made me decide to do weight loss surgery. Fortunately my boss, a respiratory therapist, had weight loss surgery last year in Tijuana Mexico. From talking with her I found out that two of her family members both members of the medical professions also went to the same doctor in Mexico as well as her dad and a friend of theirs. I met with all five of these people and came to the conclusion that I was extremely comfortable with the surgeon. He has an amazing track record. He has performed over 3,500 surgeries with never so much as a single infection. The three people that I know in the medical field all said that this is the cleanest facility they have ever been to period. The decision was made and I was comfortable after doing some research on my own. What I was unaware of is that part of this Medical Group also does stem cell therapy, immunotherapy ,cancer therapy, and they are also able to completely stabilize most medical issues. My wife and I were so impressed with everything that they did for us and everything that we saw. We were treated like family not like patients or a family member of a patient. They have the ability to cure, not treat, but CURE my wife's lupus. We plan to do whatever it takes to return there next year for her. Very impressed. I am also a member of a bariatric website. What I'm posting below I have posted on that website. Hopefully this will open some people's eyes to the quality of Medical Care and the possibilities that are out there. I will say though make sure you do your research! There are many bad companies down there as well. Please don't hesitate to check out somebody through the Mexico board of Medicine. So yesterday was my day to get the sleeve. I'm down here in Tijuana Mexico with doctor Mauricio gutierez at Trinity Medical. I got down here on Sunday and they treated my wife two tacos for lunch and lobster for dinner at local restaurants. They also took us sightseeing. One of the restaurants was absolutely gorgeous out on the coast. Everybody that we've met here has been beyond anything I've ever received in the states. I have to admit that shortly after the sleeve I was in quite a bit of pain but I'm over that now. Most everything is just a little discomfort. In about 10 hours I get to have my compression socks off anb the IV removed. Part of their follow-up care while I'm here is to take us shopping. While doing so they will have a member of the staff pounding on my back to help with releasing the gas. I couldn't have been treated better. Little bit of strangeness last night. I rolled on my left side and I felt what can only be described as a fart inside the tissue of my back. It scared the heck out of me. I immediately rolled back on my back and let out a rather large burp. I did find that rolling from one side to my back and then over to the other side and back to my back got a lot of the gas out. Kind of interesting. They are taking my sweetie for an hour of massage this afternoon. We're getting treated nicer than we've ever been. One thing that I'm quite happy about is that everything went good during my pre op so they didn't need to put in a drain. From what I've heard that is the worst part of this. They estimate that my liver shrunk 40-50% and I didn't have bleeding. Whew! Everything is going well. I'm definitely weak and tired. I slept 18 of the last 24 hours. I overdid it yesterday by trying stairs and I paid for it. We will be back home tonight around 8pm. All that is left is x-rays and a leak test in the morning and I'm good to go. This morning I got to see the flip side of things. I mentioned xrays and a leak test. We did that in a different hospital. I saw 4 other people who looked like death warmed over. They were struggling bad. We overheard that one of the girls had a leak and it will obviously have to be repaired. Scary stuff! My xrays and test were great. I'm in the San Diego airport suckling on Vitamin Water and looking forward to being home. Ahhh the joys of home! Home that place where my devoted chocolate lab (chocolate moose) was so excited that she started jumping the moment that she saw me. I just barely kept her off my chest. It is also where our neurotic, psychotic love ball of a cat launched onto me in the middle of the night. Ouch! Needless to say he got thrown out of the bedroom with the door closed behind him! He has been a purrrrrfect angel this morning because he knows that he screwed up. I started the liquid diet on 8/19/16. My surgery was 8/29/16. I have copies of all of the blood tests, the EKG, the X-rays and everything that was in their chart notes. So far I have lost 25 pounds and 10.5 inches total. I've already dropped a notch in my belt.
  25. Thank you so much!! I cant believe how much support this board is giving:) and yes I am always afraid of what am putting in my mouth as u said! and yes I am eating so little!! and finally after speaking with many and receiving ur awesome posts!! I have come to conclusion that it will be so different and so healthy with the sleeve! and that the first 2 weeks are days from hell! but they pass! and that I can get to my goal weight!! u all put so much optimism in my way:) I also had an appointment with another doctor for just a second opinion!! and he told me that I am considered a band success story!!! which really made me feel over the moon.. as my band doctor somehow considered he failed me somehow.. he is a friend to my dad and he mentioned that one day to him that he feels that he didn't do well with me! well the other doctor really said that my doctor was a great one! and he really did a great job with u! He is also convinced that I am gonna get through the sleeve as I had my band to practice some part of what I have to do with the sleeve too. He also believes that the human being should work on their band for maximum 6-8 years as it is very dangerous to keep it in for the rest of our lives.. supposedly the human being is then adapted to new life style and eating habits! My other doctor " the one who didn't perform the band but did the check ups with me and suggested the sleeve" is the one I am having the sleeve with. But my consult doctor is the one who brought up a nice point about WHY U ARE GOING TO LOSE WEIGHT ON UR SLEEVE! He told me .. as we get rid of the gherlin in ur body there is a hormonal balance that happens.. as much as the gherlin is not produced by large amounts in the stomach as before other 2 hormones starts to be produced which are the biggest help to higher ing ur metabolism rates! With the band the gherlin is there and may be always produced in highly amount as u are never ever satisfied! except for feeling restriction.. so by the time.. what ever u do !! the gherlin block the production of the other hormones with good quantity to help your metabolism and thats why some or more ppl experience weight-loss plateaus or may be weight gain! Hope I did well explaining what he said!! AND THATS WHY I AM HAVING MY SLEEVE!! and I will be hoping and praying the first 2 weeks pass so quick!! SO MUCH KISSES FOR ALL OF U HERE XOX
