    My Surgery is on Thursday!

@@wannaBthinsoon ...I'm so excited for you! You are in my thoughts! ps...what does "NSV" stand for?
  2. @@CowgirlJane, Fantastic NSV! A beautiful woman inside and out.
  3. Some of you know me well as I have been around a long time... but for back story I was pretty hopeless about losing weight and especially maintaining it when I began this sleeve journey. I had "failed" with the lapband in an epic way and by the time I revised to the sleeve I was well over 300# (although down from my lifetime recorded high of 332# while banded). I was super morbidly obese and spent a lot of years there. I felt aged beyond my years and besides feeling physically miserable, I was certainly NOT an object of attention from the opposite gender. Hell, i never even had a chubby chaser interested in me. (I did have a serious relationship, I have never been a loner, but my point is I have always been one to focus on intelligence and personality, not looks or body) Because of my active lifestyle, I have mostly had slender friends even when I was obese. I never went out for girls night with them, never went dancing, I felt like I didn't belong in those settings. So, after losing a bunch of weight, I had plastics and am now maintaining. I social with lots of people now and feel like i fit in many places, but am still sometimes surprised at my own preconceived notions. Currently, I am about 5# over my goal and about 25# over my lowest weight - I am 3.5 years post sleeve so this is frankly pretty typical. It can get a little discouraging as I am having a heck of a time re-losing this weight. I am fine at my current size, but i was finer thinner haha... so it is still something I want. You know how your state of mind is when your favorite jeans are too tight.... that is where i am! Okay, now my NSV Story! I went out to the racetrack on the 3rd for a big girls day of races and fireworks. I went with 3 very attractive ladies who are all naturally very trim. They range from tiny cute as a pixie (Which also makes her look really young) to that tall blond skinny model look (two of those, one fairly boyish looking the other more curvy - both very very attractive). Anyway, all 4 of us are unloading the cooler, doing stuff getting ready to go in. I was applying sunscreen. this really really really attractive man - probably about 40 (we are all about 50) walks by and looks right at me and smiles and says "need any help with that?". All of us freeze as it processes... he is talking to ME! What? I smiled at him as he walked away (it was only later I thought I should have said "YES") and one of the ladies said "this is going to be a good day". I don't spend alot of time comparing myself to others, I really don't. But after a lifetime of obesity, super morbid obesity - you never expect to be the one in your group of attractive friends to get the notice. Looks don't actually matter that much - one of the ironies i have learned in this journey, but it still felt good and my friends were all very happy for me too... That also makes me feel good that they are so pleased with my successes.
  4. The scale vistory is that I weighed 229 this morning - which means I am now simply 'obese' - no longer morbidly obese, no longer super morbidly obese either Overweight here I come! Non scale victory - Sunday night the family was sitting on the sofa all watching Breaking Bad and I realized that my legs were crossed - I dont think I have been able to do that in at least 15 years. Slowly the big stomach is going away - when we would go to restaurants I was too big to fit in a booth, now there is plenty of room, plenty of room with the steering wheel in the car as well. The clothes are starting to get really big - so big that my husband tells me that I cant go out of the house in 80 percent of my wardrobe lol. I never thought I would be a success, I always thought that this is something I will never win, this fight for a healthy weight. Now it feels possible!

    Non Scale Victories "nsv"

I can see the link on my iPad for some reason but my favorite NSV was one say about 8 months post op I needed to adjust the seat in my car to reach the peddles. I am tall and always had to have the seat as far back as it would go to accommodate my 77" hips!!! As I lost the weight my butt shrank and I would have to adjust the seat!!

    NSV

Its amazing the little things that we can do with our kids that we might of never had the chance to do before. Congrats that is a great nsv
  8. Kathytej

    NSV

Went with my daughter to a filed trip from her school, at a mineral mine and I was able to go down the hill, do some mining and come back up like 1/2 mile in a sand and rocks path... Amazing we had so much fun!

    NSV for Toenails

Keish_ Lorrain, NSV means Non-Surgical Victory, and they are so exciting when we get them. Even your pants falling down in public because they don't fit anymore, is an NSV!
  10. Today, I was able to lean towards my feet and trim my own toenails with cutting off my circulation at my belly.
  11. Iluvharleys

    NSV Time!

Great NSV! Don't you just love those kind?:biggrin1:
  12. kll724

    skirt silly

time to go shopping! You are going to loose your skirts, silly girl! As short as you are, you would look much more attractive in a skirt about to your knee! Great NSV!!!!

    Why did I do this?

@@nervousnelly719, @@lisyl & @@laura_rose16 - I think you all are experiencing the norm for most: buyers remorse (it does get better) head hunger (craving food, when you are NOT really hunger) the realization of your new "full" (yes 1 former serving now = 3 servings!) Stay on plan provided by your medical team: hydrate, move and protein! Stay off the scale, or only weigh weekly! Measure yourself now so when the scale doesn't move you can see the NSV in the tape measurement
  14. I was on two blood pressure medications. One contained a water pill, and my PCP decided that since I'll be struggling to hydrate, I don't need to take the one with the water pill. In two days—TWO DAYS—my uncontrolled (pre-meds) blood pressure dropped from 155/95 to 134/75. I really don't understand how that would work physically, but I'm not going to argue with it!

    Love my "backyard"

Thanks guys and I try to never lose appreciation for the beauty around me. There's a plaque in my kitchen that reads "If you are lucky enough to live in the mountains then you are lucky enough". And it's right next to the plaque that reads "Thou Shall Not Whine" BTW, I'm in eastern Idaho on the "good" side of the Teton range. And by good I mean about 2 million less tourists/year than Grand Teton National Park on the other side. The trail I took the pictures on is one of the more popular ones over here, but we still only saw 7 people on the 6 hour ride. Most times we never see anyone. Cody's mom...it won't be long before you are back in the saddle and it will be fabulous! And save up for a new saddle....I actually had to get a new one with a 3" smaller seat....my most expensive NSV. As for mounting, I still look for a log or rock or stand her downhill to get on in order to minimize the pull and twist of the saddle and girth. It's better for them anyways.
  16. Down 26 lbs since surgery on 12/19. Down 37 lbs total. Great NSV - put on a pair of jeans for the first time in years!
  17. Hey y'all!! I love reading the progress from Sleevers who had VSG around the same time as me. I had VSG on 12/28. I was 255 for my preop diet. 240 the day of surgery and 225 today. One of my employees told me that I looked different. He said he couldn't put his finger on it but I looked like my twin!!! That really made my day. I'm going to try on some old 16 pants today-- hope they fit! (:
  18. I found this very touching. I hate to fly because I feel like this woman. A NSV will be flying to Alaska in September and not getting panicky about taking up too much room. What are your flying stories? https://futuretravel.today/what-it-s-like-to-be-that-fat-person-sitting-next-to-you-on-the-plane-85006e263778
  19. Weighed my self on the Wii Fit this morning. I am down 50 lbs since I first started weighing myself on the Wii scale. I started at 280 last July and I am now down to 230. Below is the plot from Wii Fit.
  20. Never in a million years did I think these pants would fit me again!!! Woohoo made it to a 12 and one of my old favorite pairs of jeans! Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I finally purchased my first pair of riding boots that aren’t wide calf! Never ever thought this would happen. And they’re such a cute color of burgundy suede. I’m in love!
  22. @@Womanvsmirror and @@cat.jackson89 I would recommend measuring yourself too. The best NSV is when I can put on smaller clothing. When I stall for a week or two the inches are usually dropping when the scale hasn't moved.
  23. I remember the stalls I had and I would totally get frustrated and depressed. I had to get away from the scale because it was driving me absolutely crazy! It was amazing to see the inches melt away when I was in a stall and I loved it, except I had to spend money for new clothes. But today, I have very few cloths and am determined to not settle for what will fit and only, I mean only, buy the clothes I absolutely fall in love with. YayyyyyyyY! You guys will have several stalls but will be losing inches. Ditch the stupid scale and live day by day enjoying every NSV that is coming your way. I love my sleeve but sometimes, on certain days, I do want to eat more. So I constantly will have to be on top of my head hunger and drink lots of water first. We can do this!
  24. That's an awesome NSV! Congratulations!
  25. [derail] Julie, you just made me realize something. I'm hoping very much to go back to working in the city soon, and though I never thought about it if I DO get it I'll be commuting and navigating the city streets as a much thinner person than I was. I foresee a whole new set of NSVs!! [/derail]
