  1. 27 Months out and 13 lbs up from my lowest weight! Not a happy camper. At my last NUT appointment she said isn't it crazy that you can eat a very healthy diet, and still gain? Yep, it sure is. Over the past 27 months I have pretty much refused to track my foods. Tried it before and it made me crazy. However, weight gain makes me even more crazy, so.... going to give it another try. I think I'm going to try to log the night before and maybe even do the same menu a few days per week for simplicity. I am using the free version of My Fitness Pal at the moment. Any tips/tricks advice from the expert trackers out there. Also doing a little intermittent fasting but need to increase that I suppose. Thank you for chiming in
  2. I currently have a very eroded band (in the middle of my stomach) and am waiting on a surgery date to have it removed. I have had absolutely NO symptoms with the exception of weight gain because I have only moderate restriction provided by the obstruction in my stomach. Lately I've been feeling some twinges and odd little feelings and pains but I'm not sure if they are related to my band or just me being hyper-conscious because I know something isn't right. I have to agree with the others though, it sounds a lot like slippage to me. I would try to get in sooner if you can.

    In Need of a Fill

:help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: I met with my doctor on Thursday,to find I have gained back 2 lbs:cry he suggested I would need a fill, since I am struggling to not over eat and I don't feel any restrictions. I was informed that BC/BS covers 1st fill after 90 days:cry (I was banded 3/8/06) so should I try to tough it out until end of June(hopefully without any more weight gain)or pay for it out of pocket (lol will figure out the $$ part later this is stressful enough) I am drinking water when I feel hungry and really careful of what/how much I am eating now. I really binged on Thursday nite after finding out bc/bs won't pay and I paid dearly with the golf ball and sliming thingy.
  4. Don't worry about what you can't control. Odds are they won't deny you for weight gain due to quitting smoking. It's a side effect that's pretty much a guarantee. Cut all added sugars, cut all extra carbs (every veggie has carbs, avoid bread really) Start drinking ONLY water and get in upwards of 128oz a day. All of this will help you shed weight. But, stress makes you gain, so... stop stressing! If they deny, you can appeal. But until they do actually deny you... worrying about it is just a waste of energy.
  5. hmm that is very interesting TBM, we might have to pay the outrageous small group plans premiums that we are just to have coverage. Is there any way to find that link? a certain search word or thread name? For a group of 2 healthy people no pre-existing conditions (except weight gain and loss) we pay $700 per month. Through Humana one (individual policy) my husband was paying $98 a month with our daughter on his plan! I won't even go into what I think of the insurance industry lol they certainly aren't out for our benefit. BCBSFL had us go through tons of testing for our son, get different opinions by "the best medical teams in FL" then diagnosed him with Autism at age 2. They sent us a "dear john" letter cancelling his coverage because of the long term care and benefits. We Appealed, talked to Ins Commissioner, appealed again - bottom line: get on the state's care for him. So I can believe they would find a way to deny coverage if you have the band
  6. So I'm 11 months post op and I cheat probably 2x a week I still work out and the rest of the week I'm steady with my diet but what I have noticed is that I will literally gain weight in those 2 days like 6lbs and then for the rest of my week I'm fighting to put those back down and then I do it again.....does anyone else gain weight that fast???? I always manage to put the weight back off some times it takes me to not cheat for 2 weeks to get it all down before I'm comfortable enough to indulge in something I'm not really suppose to have.....i have met my doc goal weight and my own personal goal.....im just trying to maintain but with that said I don't want to gain and would like to enjoy certain things every now and then without worrying about putting on a bunch of pounds in such a short period...... 7. Anyone else struggle at the 2 year mark with the yoyo weight gain??
  8. For your first question, gas doesn't cause weight gain, but all the swelling and fluid retention from surgery sure does. everyone is different, but you should see some reduction as you start to heal up, usually a week or so. Surgery, caloric intake changes, stress, diet changes, medication, all can cause vision changes. With this, you are just going to have to deal with no wearing contacts until everything sorts itself out.

    Lap Band to Sleeve

Right with you. Had lap band 12 years ago. Dropped 100 pounds and stayed in the 220's for years. Then the trouble started. Dilated esophagus. Slip. Blah blah blah. Had the band removed a year ago - my doc does not do revisions at time of removal - I had to clear up damage first. Horrible weight gain since removal. I'm getting the sleeve next week. Can't wait.
  10. Anyone Have the sleeve due to weight gain from ssri or ssri drug? I weigh 275 pound I'm on Prozac and been on all the other in the different classes but have gained 75 pounds in the first year and that was 12 years ago.. as long as I'm on the meds the weight won't budge... Band Fills

weight gain sucks especially after u lost all of your weight. I go to Dr. Fred Maese, he does my fills (my insurance covers it) but when it didn't it was $100 he is GREAT!!!!!!!
  12. (Warning: venting/whining/complaining to follow) Uuugghhh. So even after my PCP submitted more info to overturn Cigna's denial, Cigna decided to uphold the denial. I read about the folks at ObesityLaw.com and filled out their online questionaire. They responded promptly with what I needed to pursue their services. But frankly, just the thought of trying to get the ridiculously incompetent medical staff to send me my charts/files/letters to me to pass on to the lawyers makes me want scream. I'm so mad at how little I am able to be involved. I can't even have my own medical records from Cigna. I can't get anyone to talk to me and discuss the denial. They just read me the letter they sent me, which is so incredibly vague. I'm so disgusted with the whole process. Apparently no one, not my PCP's office, the sugeon's office OR Cigna have any clue how to communicate or transmit info. Then I think, well, what if I appeal and it's 400-800$ for legal. Then let's say Cigna only covers 80% of the surgery. (Which btw, is there any way to find out a)exactly how much they cover and b)exactly what the surgeon charges? I can't get a straight answer from anyone) So I'm then up 4 or 5K$. Geez, I can just go to Mexico for 8500 and do it in the next few weeks. I'm so over it. I'm so sick of being fat. I feel like such an idiot for gaining weight so I could be in the 41 BMI. I thought surely that would get me covered. I feel like another 3 months of waiting and I'm gonna have stretch marks on hands. This quick weight gain has been horrible on me. Where do I go from here? Is he legal help worth it? What if I'm too damn healthy? (My only slight co-morbids were depression and joint pain -- not that I'm complaining) Should I just take the legal money and book a flight to Mexico? I'm fed up!:help: Advice??

    Scared mom

Britt. I am a mother of 3 and I am 32. My whole life I have never been bigger than a size 12 (typically a size 8-9) until 6-7 years ago I began to gain weight and it didn't stop until I was a size 20. I am now 12 days post op and I dont regret my decision. My husband had mixed emotions but I did what I felt was best for me. As far as you having another kid, I have a friend at work who is 1 year post op (the sleeve) and she is 5 months pregnant. She has not had any significant weight gain but it is still so soon after the surgery that she is being monitored closely. I believe that after you have done all your research try support groups to see if they can offer you any insight. I wish you nothing but the best.
  14. Hello everyone! I know I need o get on some kind of BC for after my surgery but I'm unsure on which to get. The dietitian recommended getting an IUD because sometimes after surgery your body will absorb medications differently than before. I don't know much about an IUD but my main concern is weight gain or stalling postop. Does anyone have any experience they'd be willing to share? Also, if I do get the IUD, should I get it before my surgery or shortly after?

    How I got this way!

Hi Butterflysc, I know the feeling of weight gain...I will be banded on 1/11 and I can't wait. After much deliberating I chose to go through with it. I thank the Lord for this opportunity. Be Blessed, Sheila

    Does it never end???

Wednesday evening I wound up in the Chiro's office with a compacted C4 vertebrae and pinched nerve in my neck and have NO idea how the hell I managed all that. Guess it was the sumo wrestling and bungee jumping from the week before? :biggrin1: NOT. Anyway, fast forward to Friday, I've been through 4 Chiro visits and been flat on my back for the past day and a half... I feel better and finally returned to work this morning, but dang it's been a rough week. On top of that, yesterday I started new diabetes meds. I've been taken off Avandaryl, which apparently has contributed to some of my weight gain in the past few months. I'm now on a new medication called Byetta, which you have to inject, but the good news is there are very few lows or crashes with this medication, and in the clinical trials, most people lost weight! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: It would be nice if this were finally the answer to me losing weight and I wound up not having to have the surgery. Who knows. At least I know I still have the option.

    Final stage

I was so excited to get to the final stage but with my weight gain I wish I hadn't. How does everyone do it? I don't like water, yuk!! But I have to drink it. I need to raise my protein intake. Any suggestions? Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Wearing old clothes again?

I have lost weight, gained it back, lost it again, gained it back etc many times. WHen I was skinny I would find some of the best clothes and I always refused to throw them away. Even when I got to my low weight when I could wear those clothes and they still didn't fit I kept them. Now I am at a lower weight then when the clothes used to fit me and now they are too big. It makes me feel great to look at myself in those clothes and remember all the frustration I used to feel towards them because now I love them so much more because they are now too big. I would keep the those clothes and have them as motivation. Then when you are too small for the clothes you can have a good laugh at all the anger you had towards them

    Pcos.. Symptoms?

My main symptoms were unexplained weight gain and severe cramps. I also had hair in places they shouldn't be. Eventually to caused other problems, I have now had a complete hysterectomy. Since then my excess hair is better and I don't gain weight like I did before. The lapband is taking care of the weight from the PCOS. Some people say that PCOS is caused by weight, but that is not true, my symptoms started while I still weighed 140 pounds. If you are wondering call around to ob/gyn's and ask if they treat patients for PCOS. Tell them you want to be checked for it. This keeps you from dealing the drs. that will just tell you your crazy and that you need to eat healthier.

    Surgeon's expectations

I met with my surgeon yesterday and his expectation for me was less than I had anticipated. I am 5'4" and 239. He said 18 months out he would like to see me at 160 and that was his first goal. I guess I anticipated a short term or more attainable goal like 200 at some point, and that 18-24 months put I would be closer to goal of 140. Is this just relative based on how much effort I put in? I'm super motivated, and was very fit and athletic before weight gain from thyroid cancer/issues/thyroid removal. How did you guys formulate goals? This is so different for everyone, where do we begin? Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I finally got the nerve to take an e.p.t yesterday and was positive x 2!! I had my IUD removed Jan 24 th, my DR said "it will be 3 months or so before you get your period".....I got my period Feb 17th!!! and then nothing in March. I started having breast tenderness a couple weeks ago but didn't think much of it. I'm going this morning for testing with my Dr. As for my band, I had 1 cc removed recently due to throat burning and have managed to gain 8 lbs. I know weight gain/loss should not be a big concern right now.....however! I have been eating way to much and want at least 0.5 cc fill. I have no restriction at all.... I would like to know, how much weight have others gain thus far or throughout their pregnancy in general......

    Gained 4 pounds OVERNIGHT!

Me too ,this happens all the time for me, I am so upset when I don't loose weight , so when I see a weight gain like 3-4 pounds overnight this freaks me out, bit on the other hand it makes me be extra good that day or week...

Know what I need to do but......

Hi there. I'm new to this forum and your post was the first one I read. I'm 5 yrs post op from a lap band to sleeve revision. I was doing fine with my weight loss, but this year I've started gaining weight back rather quickly. I'm having surgery on Wednesday for an unrelated problem, but truly want to get back on track. I've lost approximately 85 pounds total, but I've gained 35 of that back this year. I know what I should be doing, but find myself grazing on unhealthy foods and not exercising. It's depressing to look at pics when I was at my lowest weight after surgery and then look at current pics where I can clearly see the weight gain. I wish you much luck in getting back on track. Maybe we can encourage each other?
