  1. I would like to lose 52lbs and reach my goal weight by the end of November 2019. That gives me 7 months. Is that something that is achievable? My surgeon's office keeps telling me that my surgery is going to "stop helping me" soon and that my "honeymoon period" is over and it's really discouraging me. I am still losing weight at about 7-10lbs per month, so if I keep that rate up, I should get there. Will things slow down or is 7-10lbs in the "final 6 months" before the 12 month mark still attainable? My 6 months is May 1. What was YOUR personal experience in the 6-12 month period? I have this personal deadline because I want my brachioplasty in December to minimize my leave request and also get rid of the batwings forever.

    January 2019 sleevers

I had mine done on January 21st, 2019 so I guess we are buddies!! I am down about 57lbs since surgery.
  3. I talked to my trainer about this yesterday and he said I have an issue with undereating now and I told him that I am scared to start snacking throughout the day because it's not a good habit to pick back up. He said it'll be fine if I just eat like a few carrots in between my 5 small meals, but then I was like... but it can easily lead to me snacking on junk and then I will hate myself for doing that. It's such a slippery slope in my mind. He said my worry is good, but I took my worry up to level 10 and it's preventing me from eating things that are healthy and that I SHOULD get more calories in due to the intensity of my workouts. I just don't feel mentally comfortable doing that. I'm scared I will slip up and not be able to stop myself, or slip up and feel REALLY DAMN BAD and get really depressed. He said I am probably wanting to snack not so much because of bad habits coming back, but because I don't get enough macros in for the amount of work I am doing and my body is craving more food.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Good morning! RNY revision 4/3/19 HW 271 SW 260 CW 250 is anyone else having a hard time getting all liquids and calories in? I’ve been so tired. My surgeon told me to eat 800 calories a day and drink at least 64 oz. I’m finding it hard with 30 mins before/after eating. also. When can we have real coffee? 🤣🤣

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Froufrou. I think you’ve definitely identified a couple of trouble spots and I find that identifying the problem goes a long way toward fixing it. Lol, after the first 2 weeks, I “ only” lose 10 pounds month every month. 🤣🤣 My average has consistently been 2.5 pounds weekly and even though I’m kinda disappointed in those numbers, they are the numbers I’m getting so I’m learning to live with slow and steady. I have bouts of hunger and mostly it’s when I’m stressed out. Since about 98% of my stress is work related, I do struggle with it at work, but so far I’ve managed multiple temptations and when I get hangry at work I down some fairlife milk. I have a 4 week rotating schedule and 3 weeks ago was my late week. That means I work 1-11pm 4 days that week and getting home from work at 11:20pm after 10 hours of hell looks different for me today than it did a few months ago. Previously I would arrive home starving, eat some dinner, and have at least 1-2 glasses of wine. Every. Night. Now I still arrive home from those shifts stressed, because surgery can’t fix my work environment, but I handle it differently. If I’m super- hungry I pour the milk into my favorite coffee mug and take it upstairs with me to my bedroom where I have a aromatherapy diffuser and I can pull up a meditation video on YouTube. That’s my “me” time and my husband will even do the mediation exercises with me. Then I give myself a half hour screen time before I make myself turn in for the night. Knowing I give myself permission for that glass of milk really gets me through a rough situation where bad habits could come back to roost if I let them. I’m going to do everything in my power to kick those habits to the curb

    Emotional

Pre surgery I took cymbalta daily since 2005 and if I missed a dose the next day I would have uncontrollable crying spells, since the surgery 4/17/19, I haven’t taken it.. no emotional breakdowns I sometimes feel like I want to cry but just a thought of something else and boom it goes away, I happy about that, but are there emotions related to some parts of the stomach that is taken out with the gastric sleeve??? I kinda feel like I have no feelings and I don’t dare be a cold, uncaring emotional person.. any input???

Surgery is complete! Onto road to recover

I’m feeling really good :) the gas has definitely settled down. I’m making sure to continue with my walking regimen, 3-4 miles everyday so far. I’m down to 267 as of yesterday, I lost 10 about a week before liquid preop diet, then 10 days of that dropped another 20 and 5 days after surgery weighed in another 10 pound loss. So going to keep pushing and hope I can get to 220! But all and all, strong as bull and still have no hunger which is amazing!

    Large weight gain

Hi, I'm new to this forum but wanted to post. I had the gastric bypass almost 10 years ago. Followed all the rules. Lost 130lbs and then gained 27 lbs back in the last 2 years. From what I understand it isn't the pouch that stretches, it's the hole between the pouch and the intestines that stretches allowing more food through and can actually stretch your intestines, which is can be dangerous. Some patients who have gained weight have gone back and had the hole made smaller, back to the post-surgery size. I have relost 13 lbs and have 14 to go....it's a daily lifestyle change that I have to stick to!

  17. Omg I had my procedure on 4/18. Went to ER on 4/19 for terrible dehydration. I can’t keep anything down but fluids. I’ve tried protein shakes sipping slowly only to find myself vomiting in an hr. It also sucks because I still have to be a mom and a wife. But I just feel like crap! I keep telling myself...this didn’t happen over night and you asked for it but Lord knows....I had no idea it would be this bad! I burped and flatuated last night and it felt amazing...almost like an orgasm!! TMI! That’s just how amazing it felt! I didn’t tell much people I was having the procedure...but now I’m not...I don’t want it anymore... any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
  18. Take into consideration that there are different types of AETNA insurance plans and what is required. I have Aetna and there are things listed on the above that I did not need to do or was not required to do. It all depends on the plan your company have. For example my deductible is $1000 and and I am responsible for 10% after I've reached my deductible. The surgeon had a specific list of what my plan required. One type of Aetna insurance plan do not fit all. Wishing you good luck with your surgery.
  19. I am a revision from RNY to DS. I will be self financed as my insurance turned me down for this 2 years ago. I am back going through the pre-tests, etc. They have me seeing the nutritionist for the 3 months as before. My understanding previously is that the 3 month requirement is for insurance purposes. Since I am not going through insurance I asked if this was still a requirement. I have done all the other tests and have been cleared. I was told that I had to do the 3 month nutritionist. It doesn't make much sense to me since I am a revision, understand all the dietary requirements (also since I did the 3 month nutrition 2 years ago) and the last time lost 10 lbs. Needless to say I am not getting much in the way of true responses just "this is what you have to do". So I am doing it. My question is, does anyone know if I can get "denied" if I don't lose any or enough weight? I have stayed the same weight for 2 years (even the doctor noted that I am stable). I have terrible back issues (another reason for surgery so I can exercise and avoid back surgery) so I can't really exercise. I was down at my goal weight for 9 years, totally know how I gained the weight back (tragic family situations and I stopped paying attention to my food and exercise, typical...) and am ready for the surgery. Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences where they were "turned down" due to weight loss or lack of? Given that I am getting on the scale every day, I know I am the same. Any thoughts/insight would be appreciated.

    Headaches after eating?

Over eating can cause a number of issues for people a headache is one, hiccups, burping, excessive salivating, feeling over full, chest pain, shortness of breath. Try walking for about 10 minutes or more and try to stop eating before you feel full. Over chew before you swallow. One bite can make a huge difference. Good luck.
  22. How many of you you have or did lay in supplies (nutritional items, vitamins, eat) prior to your surgery? Did you think this is a good or not so good idea? My surgery date isn't until 10/1/19, so I have plenty of time to figure this out. I just don't want to find myself purchasing unnecessary items. Any thoughts?

Did they give you a time frame to expect? My surgeons office told me it was usually 10 to 15 business days. I hope you hear quickly

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay, a bit of perspective here: "only" 10 pounds in a month would have thrilled us before surgery. 🙂 And from what I have read, there are ebbs and flows in our weight loss journey. Unless you think you have strayed off course, I would recommend that you not weigh yourself for a couple of weeks.
