Hi there!! Congrats on your amazing progress (I read your stats!!!!)....So first off, I sent you an email through this system but I guess you never got it? It was detailed as to what info I have already found in turkey and was hoping you could share your experiences with me...pretty please :-) I am THRILLED that there is someone else in Turkey that has done this :-) I am currently in Turkey and will be staying here for atleast a year....so I am seriously looking into this. So far I found (researching now) three places that do this procedure (2 in istanbul and 1 in izmir).....what was your dr.s name in istanbul? Dr. Halil something? I saw a few things about him....? Do you mind if I ask how much the WHOLE procedure cost you? I have clueless in regards to pricing here in TR. Hoping you can tell me how things are going for you and if you're feeling like a million bucks!! I'm sooo glad I found you on here!! If you have some free time Id love to hear your details....and if you recommend the procedure here in TR? Hope to speak soon :-) *I'm in the middle of turkey- konya :-) Where are you?

Add me to the November anniversaries! Three years come Nov 8. It was our dating anniversary and seemed natural to keep it. Plus it was a Wednesday and the local judge only married people on Wednesdays. Lucky for us!

Does your port still feel like a bruise?
crc38 replied to doodleallday's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine still bothers me sometimes. It'll get really tender and hurt like my scars did a couple of weeks after surgery. Usually, I can tell I've bumped it or something. But sometimes it's nothing at all. I don't think it's anything to worry about. They sew the ports into muscles and so it's a tender spot. Either way, next time you're there, I'd ask the doctor, just to be sure. -
I am yet to be banded but I have this image of my body shrinking (YES!!!)and my excess skin just hanging there(NOO!!) what happens to it does it shrink as well. Also if your able to answer that for me maybe someone can tell me if those first 2 weeks on only fluids, are you STARVING, or does the protein and the whole healing thing keep you satisfied? Thanx so much

I can't keep up this preop diet living on jello and three shakes a day. I am jittery and have horrible a headaches plus I have to work. Did anyone else have trouble? I don't feel comfortable telling my employer and my elderly parents have any of you felt the same way?
-
OK.... Now I know. I had my sleeve one full week today and made a protein shake with chocolate powder, yogurt, vanilla cappuccino protein shake, a spoon full of mocha and 1/4 cup of coffee flavored gelato.... why did I do that? The whole fabulous concoction would be rich for someone with a WHOLE stomach pre-surgey but my little healing tummy lost it's mind! Four little swallows shaky, nervous and SICK. OMG. Was that dumping? It was bad. Wow...that will keep you honest. I had done so well all week.

Leading up to surgery, a good supply of liquids...remembering that this is only for 7 days (in my wife's case). Most people here could do that in their sleep. After surgery, healing. You aren't looking to lose weight. Joy would have a instant breakfast and make it taste a bit better with a scoop of ice cream. As the swelling goes down you start getting hungry...stick to your "heavy liquids". She loved the cream of potato soup and V-8. Joy had her two week post-op appt today and the doc put her on mushies. Her first BIG meal in the last three weeks.......mashed potatoes. Good luck!

The skin... if you don't loose weight too rapidly your body can adjust to the excess skin and "absorb" it. Depending on how much and how fast there is a possibility that one will need plastic surgery to remove the excess skin and fat. As for the 2 weeks of liquids... it takes a few days (maybe 2-3) and you get over the need to eat or cheat. I promise you (I did my pre-op diet before cancelling my surgery before) it gets easier. I am still alive it doesn't kill you. Hang in there and know it does get easier and it will all be worth it. God luck.

Insurance Approval!!!! Pre-op Tomorrow
MommyTawnie replied to daezeey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is such great news for you "as well as for my hubby" Our insurance as of this moment is Aetna "my surgery is on the 21st" but starting in January we are switching to United Healthcare, but we weren't sure how well they go about covering surgery when weight loss is involved, but reading on here UHC seems to cover more then we were thinking. No matter which plan we have. When do you start your liquid diet? Mine started today for 5 days and then another week-2 weeks after surgery depending on how my body reacts to the reintroduction of food.. LoL I am holding strong and not feeling a bit hungry. Any way CONGRATULATIONS!! It's such a blessing when we recieve news we so want to hear.. -
I just had my 7 week check up and the doctor took all restrictions off of me. I think you will be fine just listen to your body if it hurts stop. I cant even imagine doing 200 sit ups but thats just me if you can do it go for it.

When Does Weight Loss Begin?
ibehere10 replied to Sharonisshrinking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Put on 13 lbs from the fluids they pumped into me for the surgery. That was gone in about 8 or 9 days. Have list a total of about 43 lbs but as someone else said I am trying to stay away from the scale!! I am down three pant sizes which I am thrilled about . Surgery was 9/10. Hang in you will do great!! -
4 Months Out...
courtney333 replied to courtney333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my that is so hard to do! I get frustrated no doubt when I don't see the scale move! I am going go try and not weigh but once a week! But then what if I get there the following week to the scale and it still hasn't moved?? Then it will be double frustration ! Lol ! I get it though - people say eat more eat more! What am I suppose to eat more of? I need some help! I'm prolly not eating enough of the right things - I hate meat! Was a slight vegetarian before surgery anyways! I'd ear occasional salmon or cod but that's it! What are you eating? -
I'm 10 days from being 8mo. Post op and I was stalled at 155-158 for almost a month. I decided to try IF (intermittent fasting) for a week and it actually worked. I'm down to 152-153... My original GW was 160 so either way I made it and I'm so THANKFUL..... HW: 240 SW: 232 GW: 160 CW: 152-153 Sleeved 03/20/2017 Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Are you weighing yourself daily? My weight bounces around a lot so I only weigh weekly now. I'm almost 10 months out and I've been stalled for a month. I thought I lost 4 pounds but it turns out my scale was broken and it ended up dying. Stalls happen and they are frustrating but keep at the plan and get your fluids.

Mine was laproscopic too - still more comfy to sleep in the recliner the first week. I healed up just fine.

Hi Shelby. I had port pain and it lasted about 1 week and then subsided. Where is your port located? Mine is near my belly button on the left side.

I was also allowed dill pickles during the first week of my two week diet.

6 Month Surgiversary Today....so much to celebrate! :)
Eric@@ash replied to CheleLynn45's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am so happy for you. I am just beginning my journey (I have been to a seminar, and my first class is next week) and have a similar start weight as you. It was really inspiring to read your post! I'll have to come re-read it when I let those little doubts and fears about surgery creep into my mind as it does sometimes. I hope that sometime this coming year I can write such a happy post as you have done. Thanks! -
Question about amt to drink after surgery
MSG's_SGM replied to wstone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please make sure you drink as much as possible up to the amount your doctor told you, because I couldn't get enough in and my kidneys are starting to shut down. My dr. scolded me. I didn't realize what was happening to me. I called his office and said I was concerned about losing so much so fast, but no one put it together until I told the dr. that I could go all day without urinating and had been over a week without a bm. I am doing all I can to drink now, but it has been 3 days and I can finally trickle a few times a day. Please be careful. -
I personally wouldn't have been able to drive a bus after two or three days. It took about three weeks before I felt human again :tongue_smilie: But, judging from others' posts, I had a harder time of it than most. No matter what, good luck to you!

Yes that's me this month. I am due next week or so and I could not eat untill dinner today ! And I was peeing 100 times during the day ! Ugh
