    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

MacMadam... what's the new picture? Is that you on the finish line of your recent Tri??? I have an NSV to share... I put on my skin tight jeans this morning straight from the dryer, and didn't have to suck it in. In fact, they could almost be considered loose! Yeah! The strength training and running combo is working!

Have a better day in court today Tina! You should get out earlier today anyways . . . I was down 4 since the fill, a couple of days ago, but I am back up 2 now so down 2 total. That's not bad for a week, but it IS bad for the week right after a fill! Oh well, I started feeling the restriction just a day and a half ago so if I can lose 2 a week for the next 3 weeks I will be thrilled. OK NSV to report girls! I have, through my clothing exchange, 2 pairs of Gloria Vanderbilts, a size 16 denim crop and a size 14 khaki denim straight leg. The size 14s are my "motivation" jeans because I look at the back of them and say oh my god these are SO tiny, when my ass fits in those I will be SO happy! So I have the 16 crops out this morning - 16s are too big in other brands, but you know how small the GVs run - and I pull on the 16 crops, and - too big! OK I thought, I must be bewteen sizes . . . just for kicks I'm going to pull on the motivational size 14 tiny-ass jeans to see how far I can pull them up - was suprised to get them all of the way up my thighs! Then all the way - and they zipped right up! SO thrilled! So went to the closet for the smallest hawiian shirt I could find (traditional friday office wear here, and since tomorrow is a holiday today is friday LOL), and I'm swimming in it!!! I actually like my ass in these jeans - and it has been a LONG TIME since I've said that!! Now THIS is motivating!! Did my 4 miles before work, on 4.8 now so I gotta get out there and deliver some stuff around the county complex.

Vacation, College visit and a major NSV!

It's the first few days of July, and I'm getting ready to go on vacation! We are traveling to Florida for a family reunion / vacation - and I can't wait! A whole week with my beloved family, seeing some relatives I haven't seen in a year or so, and no work stress! Don't get me wrong, I do like my job, but...getting away is ALWAYS fun!:crying: I'm going to have an active vacation - do a lot of walking, some water sports, eat good food (lots of fruit and veggies) and be sure to drink my water. My band "Jillian" will help me stay on track, and not suffer the usual 5 - 10 lb gain I USED to have on vacation. In my previous blog post, I mentioned a new swimsuit I had bought for the occasion - well, that suit is staying home. An unintended side effect of losing the weight has been the 'tummy hang'. When it was more solid, it stayed kinda 'up', well now, it's very soft, and so it hangs...not cute in a close-cut swimsuit! :sneaky: I'll be okay, though, because I have two other swimsuits that fit me great now since I've lost the weight. I am officialy down 50 POUNDS! I'm so happy that I started this banded journey. At the end of our vacation, my DD and I are visiting a college she wants to attend. It will be fun to hang out with her for a couple of days...then I drop her off in New York for a convention with the youth branch of our NAACP, and I return home. And the major NSV? We went shopping for summer clothes during a recent sale at Old Navy, and just to see what happened, I decided to try on a pair of size 16 shorts. I didn't honestly think they would fit, but I wanted to see how far I still had to go. Lo and behold, THEY FIT! I stood in the dressing room grinning like a total fool, and then crying because the last time I wore a size 16 was when I WAS 16! So to prove it wasn't a fluke, I went to Target yesterday and tried on a pair of cropped pants (also for my vacation). THEY FIT!:thumbup: I am LOVING this banded life, and I'm so glad I made the decision to become healthier, stronger - and oh yeah, slimmer through this method. Much love to all my banded peeps on the site, and if you are considering being banded - do your research, visit the threads on this site to get some different perspectives, and then make a quality decision. I would do it again in a heartbeat...:blushing:

    Non Scale Victories!

My NSV was going to the beach with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter last weekend and not being uncomfortable hanging out in my swimsuit. Also being able to run, play, and swim with my granddaughter instead of just wishing we could leave like I used too. Knowing I Just put on a size 10 swimsuit for the first time in years felt great also.

Now my "skinny" clothes that I bought a couple of months ago to get me through are now too big. Down to a 36" pants and XL shirt( but they are fair from a tight fit). My other NSV was a realization while in the shower the other day. I have a tube shower that I have always hated because it felt so small. As I was taking a shower, I realized that the shower felt alot bigger than the last time I thought about it(before the surgery). It was just one of those silly little things that make you smile and proud.

Evening ladies, Just catching up - my you have been busy today! Tamra, maybe you can email your doctor and at least ask her to schedule your orientation now so that you can get in right after this class. So, you did weight watchers too LOL Ditti's weight loss zone has been around since I did weight watchers many years ago hahahaha Jes - You should weigh but don't be disappointed if it seems higher than you expect - I don't know what Robin's talking about because I weight myself one morning right out of the shower - blew dried my hair first of course lol - anyway - I weighed again right after i got dressed and In that 10 minutes I gained 4.6lbs with my clothes on! so, weigh in just in case but then I'd go to your PCP early in the morning, before breakfast, after you shower, wearing nothing but a sun dress - bra if you must and the lightest flip flops you got and weigh in girlfriend! Tina, don't beat yourself up hahaha - that's my thing! Hi Donna, my honesty is what always messes me up in the end Here's what I really want to say "My Scale still not budging. Barely eating crap, walking more than I ever have before - JOGGED EVEN! sweatin like a pig and for no reason... My husbands in there eating Mrs. Fields chocolate peanut butter bars right now - Really pisses me off !!!!!!!!" How's that for brutal honesty LMAO Oh, well, I gotta just keep on doing what I'm suppose to do and the scale will move when it's ready! How are you girlfriend? Ok, Riley & Christine - don't take this the wrong way because I still HATE exercise... But my husband may have pointed out a small NSV tonight - as we were walking up the last hill and i was complaining as usual about how hard it is for me to carry my fat ass all the way up it he pointed out that last month he would have to stand at the top of the hill & wait for me because i was only half way up and now, I am only a few feet behind him - so it must be getting easier for me. I did notice that we are taking the exact same route but it went down from 10,090 steps to 8,463 steps the last week or so. Hmmm? Can't figure that out so I jumped in the car as soon as I got back & drove it and OMG I had no idea we were walking 4.2 miles. I think I will see how long it actually takes us next time. B - 2 hard boiled eggs L - 1/2 C chicken salad w/2tsp mayo, 1/2 tomato D - 4 oz BBQ Salmon steak, half a tomato & 1/4 cucumber with a little red wine vinegar & garlic herb mix. I will start getting on the calorie counting asap Candy, I'm free every Tuesday, Friday & Saturday for lunch or whatever. Ha, just flipping thru the stations and found some reality thing called Diet Tribe - We are the lap-band Tribe

So since losing a total of 21 lbs, my NSV's are: *Down from size 22 to size 20! *Shirts down from 2x to 1x (xl) some brands! *Panties actually went down from size 9 to 8, no more saggy butt! *Had the courage to talk to a new hot guy at work and he was super friendly and flirty!!! *Lost 21.75 inches so far! *Can reach all the way to the far end of my trunk! hehe! 5 inches of belly gone!

    Twenties NSVs

it seems like whenever i post in this thread i get new NSVs immediately after-- but not complaining here! so today i went to work out with my trainer at his gym. i was warming up on the elliptical while he was finishing up with a new client of his, who is older but had about my body type from last year. she was really struggling on the machine next to me while i was going fast, even though it was just for my warmup. out of breath, she told my trainer-- "well, she just makes it look so easy!" i laughed and kind of mentioned that i was slower than her last year and that she would get better in time, just wanted to encourage her but not get in her business or anything because i know how i felt a year ago when people tried to tell me what to do or not do. after my warmup i went to jog a few laps while i was still waiting for my trainer, and i came back over to them a few minutes later and the woman goes "i have to congratulate you on your weightloss! damon (my trainer) told me-- and you look incredible!!" i got a little embarrassed but my trainer was just like, "yeah, jane's my poster child!" made me feel so proud. like, yeah, i can see the results when i look at my before/after pics, but when you see me on a regular basis the improvements are harder to see, and this was the first time my trainer acknowledged that i'm his super star... and that he was bragging about me to other people! this random lady probably has no idea how happy she made me, because in actuality, she is the first person i have seen face-to-face that told me i was inspiring her.

    Non Scale Victories!

I just had a NSV this morning. When I first started losing weight I had to go buy a belt to keep my jeans up. Today I went to put it on and had to latch it in the smallest hole. Guess that belt will be on its way out soon. YAH!!!!!!

    Twenties NSVs

Haven't posted in a while, let alone an NSV. There haven't been any particular moments, but I am a lot more comfortable with myself. I can go swimming without worrying about being the fattest guy there, I can ride rides without worrying if I'm gonna fit and the biggest one for me is I don't have to worry about weight limits for ANYTHING anymore! I love my band

    Twenties NSVs

been awhile since i posted a NSV! so the last post in here i said that i got a personal trainer for the summer. i have seen CRAZY improvements with him this past month, but with him i mostly just weight train. on my own, i have been doing more cardio, something similar to the couch to 5k program. well yesterday i finished my first 5k! and today i did it AGAIN! never thought i would be a runner but i definitely feel like one now. last year i could hardly run for 20 seconds straight. oh and the best improvement ive seen since last year in my workouts: i used to get SO red when i got hot-- like a splotchy bright red, but i never really sweat, and it was really embarrassing for me. now i dont get red so much, but i kind of GLOW and GLISTEN (you know, like the women in those workout DVDs that look gorgeous when they work out? well, i dont look quite that good, but its a HUGE improvement!) funny how the body works.

    Non Scale Victories!

NSV to report, yay!! I went to exchange dress pants that I bought months ago they were way too big when I tried them on this weekend. I was already excited about them being so baggy. Imagine how THRILLED I was when I found that I needed two sizes smaller!! I was so happy.

Can my body really become a small size?

indigogirl we seem very similar. I'm also 5'4 I started at around 225. I'm a pound away from my 1st big goal of 174 . That's the number that takes me from obese to merely overweight. And my initial longterm goal is 145 because like you that's the number that's puts me in the normal BMI. And you're in a size 4 now. Amazing. And maybe it is possible for me. Here's another NSV for me today. all of my shortss are way too big. Well last night I picked up 2 pair of size 12 shorts assuming they would fit. Well they do fit but with enough room I'm really thinking they need to go back and be exchanged for a size 10!!!! Me in a size 10 never in my wildest dreams. So maybe a 8 or a 6 is really attainable. Thank you guys so much for sharing your skinny stories with me. I'm really starting to think this thing is really possible.
  15. Most often it is not how much you are eating - but what you are eating - you may not be eating enough - but try upping your protein - limiting your sugar and carbs to a bare minimum - and drink, drink drink lots of H20 - that may help - if you don't eat enough you won't lose weight - your body starts holding on for dear life - remember this is a lifetime journey - it doesn't happen overnight - so enjoy all the small nsv you are sure to be experienceing -and enjoy the ride down - it is all good - and you will have many stalls along the way - just take them as giving your body time to adjust - you will start losing again soon. Just make sure you aren't eating absently - or picking - or taking in liquid calories... write down for a day or 2 everything that goes in your mouth - and you may see any problems that are there - hang in t here Anne:smile2:
  16. Hello - my name is Anne and I got the lapband on my 43 birthday - over 2 years ago. Dr. Chand was my doctor at the Cleveland Clinic - and he did a great job - I haven't had any problems - and have lost about 70lb. I need to lose about 100lb total to be at my goal weight - and I have been at a stall for the past 6 months or so - I have only ever had 2 fills, the last being over a year and a half ago. I still have good restriction - somedays too good - so I don't feel my stall is from lack of restriction - I still can only eat small amounts - but my choices haven't been the best and I have been picking on slider food - crackers and chips are my huge down fall - I am determined to get it back on track this summer and want to lose 10lbs by Sept when I go back to school. I am a teacher - and have 3 children - am married 23 years tommorrow to a pretty awsome guy. We are both off all summer - and we enjoy going on our boat, camping and taking our kids to swim meets and softball and baseball games. We have 2 bearded collie dogs - who we love to death - and one cat we wish we didn't she isn't a bad cat - but older with litter box issues so she ends up living in the basement as she has ruined a few carpets. I came here as I know the one way to get back to basics and get back on track is to be accountable and talk and listen with others who are going through this. I have been a slow loser - which is ok with me - I know the 70lbs I lost are never coming back -and and if I take it slow and steady I will reach my goal eventually - I just am taking time to enjoy the journey - it has been a wonderful ride - many small nsv that just creep up on you - one thing I am trying to incorporate this summer is exercise - my dh and I have been walking every morning - for 45 minutes - this is a huge thing as I hate exercise and lost the 70lbs without any exercise at all....so hopefully we will continue! Looking forward to coming on here and sharing and learning! Huggs! Anne
  17. Congrats Veronica!! everyone is different. I keep have to reminding myself the band is only a tool- i have to do the work- meaning stick to the diet, and no grazing ( I'm a terrible grazer!) But have found other things to do instead of eat. (Housework only if I'm desperate!). The fills will increase as we lose weight , so am more concerned about amount of miles walked, protein, calories, NSVs, and the scale. BTW, am down 1# this week to 235. ( Any loss is a win!)

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Scrappy, those family things you shared were precious. Congrats! I got to see my good friend tonight for dinner and when we set up where to go she was so worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything or enjoy dinner. I said, heh, I'll be fine. Let's just go and have fun. I ended up with some meatloaf and mashed potatoes which was a real treat and she was amazed I could eat that even though it took me twice as long to eat half as much as she did. My freind saw me and the first thing she said is I bet you weigh less than me now! I didn't want to say yes, I probably do, and make her feel bad, but I want her to lose weight too but like Scrappy said, she has to think about it and become convinced in her mind when she is ready. I got three more pages put together for my weight loss journey scrapbook. I put a page together about my 100 lb milestone celebration day with friends where I passed out 100-calorie snack packs. Another page is from Easter where I was able to wear the same fancy pink two piece top/skirt set I wore at my sister's wedding 21 years ago. AND... it fit loosely and the two pictures of me years ago versus today is pretty neat. Last scrapbook page I did was my Seatbelt Success story and pictures I posted about from when I went to Florida in May. I took pictures of me with the seatbelt with room to spare and that is a precious NSV I won't forget. Part of the reason I am doing the scrapbook to remember the good times along this journey is so that I will always have that to look back on. In the past when I lost 100 lbs two prior times, sadly so, and regained it back, when I was heavy again I would think how the heck did I lose that 100 lbs and why did I let myself gain this back. I am still plateaued on this same number in the -110-112 lbs range but I got alot of compliments at work especially this week about people who see me in "skinny" size 22 jeans now and can't believe my transformation. I want to get to some magical "12" jeans maybe in a year??? Who knows. Just taking it a day at a time.

    NSV! Got my height back!

sorry, little bit new. what does NSV stand for
  25. On Monday, I had to work the day shift to teach a few topics at an all day conference where I work. Normally, I wear regular clothes and a lab coat. For the conference, I wore dressy clothes and no lab coat. I saw many people I had not seen for months (170 people attended). MANY people came up to me to tell me it's quite apparent that I have lost weight, etc. It's nice that the loss is showing. For lunch, 50 pizzas were delivered. I had brought a protein bar with me so I took my 2 pieces of pizza to my skinny secretary and had lunch in the office with him. It felt great to have control over the food. Prior to the surgery, I could have easily devoured 4 pieces.
