    Non Scale Victories

I know what you mean. I bought discounted end-of-season WINTER clothes (on very low-priced special pricing) at the end of the last Australian winter (July-August, 2018) ... 3XL and 2XL garments ... down from two years ago when I was 9XL/8XL sizing. As the autumn is having colder nights and much cooler mornings now in late April 2019, I am pulling this stuff out of the drawers to begin wearing it AND THEY ARE "SWIMMING" ON ME in most instances. I have dawdled to lose only about 12kg (26 pounds) in the last nine months but my upper body is more muscular. And yet, despite the seeming waste of the money, I'm pleased with the extra NSV feel of fat lower down being replaced by muscle higher up. My exercise physiologist says that my body's centre of gravity has moved UPWARDS 19mm in 9 months but that my sense of balance (which was 'terrible' before my weight-loss surgery is now "borderline excellent".
  2. Today marks one week since my gastric bypass. It has been a rough start, but I’m feeling and getting better everyday. I make sure I’m walking at least 30 minutes every day. I am still struggling with hunger. But I assume —it is my hope— that the hunger goes away. I have 12 days until my first follow-up appointment. At that point, I hope the doctor will move me to the next level. I’ve dropped 10 pounds since surgery day. It’s a struggle, but I’m taking it one day at a time.

    Sleeve revision to bypass

Lastest update, My date has changed to 6/13/2019. All test and approvals should be in by that time. I have some great docs. If nothing else? They treat me like a person not just a number. This is round two. I am ready to fight for my health. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. So I just got approved after a while year of doing test and labs.. my insurance wanted lots of reasons for me to get it.. like if being 36 with w weight of 540 was not enough and constant knee pain.. BUT I'm happy to say that it will happen in August reason being Ok I want to enjoy the summer and not get supper dehydrated during the summer months... My doctor said not to worry about losing weight but I want to make it as easy as can be for them how did you shrink your liver what kind of diet did you do 2 months before the sleeve Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727AZ using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Gee must be nice lol when i met with the dietician all she wanted me to do was to lose 10 lbs. Which i felt was easy but that was like 3 months ago lol so this month i got very serious about eating healthy and working out and i go in tomorrow to my PCP to get weighed in. I hope im down but i wont give up!
  7. Hello everybody. I’ve just had my surgery recently (19 April). So I am on week one. I am finding it hard to eat. While I was hospitalized they gave me broth and apple sauce. Once I started walking they gave me sort of liquidy mashed food. Like I had a coucous cream. I was operated in France and after watching YouTube videos, I figured that duets varied from hospitals and countries. However during this week, due to how I was fed in the hospital I was confused on how to eat. So I am going through apple sauces, yoghurt adding protein powder to them. And also having soups. My question is has anyone struggled with week one in the same fashion.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

My surgery is 10:00am on Monday. I like the time because I can still take my daughter to school and make her breakfast before I leave.
  9. My surgeon's office called and my surgery time is at 10:00am Monday morning. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the number on my caller ID.

    Protein shakes and bars forever?

The goal with my nutritionist and surgeon was to slowly start weaning off shakes and bars once I started getting solid foods. I was told to get in a minimum of 70 grams of protein a day. By focusing on lean protein choices like eggs, fish, lean meats, lite cheese, and beans I can get about 20 grams per meal. I have one small high protein snack to get in the extra 10+ grams of protein. Sometimes that snack is a shake or bar and sometimes I'll even do a shake or bar for a meal if I'm in a hurry but I'm trying to focus on whole foods for the most part.

    ❤ APRIL 2019 CHALLENGE❤

The past few days have been crazy so sorry for not posting. Keeping up with the challenge. Today was my weekly weigh in and I'm 10 pounds lighter from April 1st which was my goal for this month. I'll do another weigh in on the 30th just to see how I close the month out.
  12. No complications here either. Sleeved February 28, 2019. I had day surgery was released within 2 hours of surgery, walked a lot right after. Had no nausea, took minimum pain meds for a few days. I've had no stalls yet. Lost 11 lbs first week and 2 to 5 lbs every week since. Down 63 lbs since the two week pre-op diet. I follow my plan, log my food, take my Vitamins, weigh and measure my food, weigh myself only once a week, drink Water only, get my Protein in most days. One thing I don't do on plan is hit my calorie goal of 600-800 calories, I find that difficult at this point as I can't eat much and don't snack because I'm never hungry. I think I had a great surgeon and support staff. I couldn't be happier with my results. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    Month Post Surgery

I'm a month post op and my best friend are the Isopure clear drinks. They have different flavors and they come in powder so you can prepare yourself or liquid for on the go. each 10 oz has 20 gr of protein. It's a great way to get your protein levels. Have you tried eating chili? It's high in protein and you can blend it to make it sofeter.
  16. Anyone in CA having(had) surgery this month and if so, How are you doing? im still on my Liver diet due to have my RNY the 30th...🦋

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I was sleeved on 4/11, I just had my 2 week appointment with the PA today. I am approved to move on to puréed foods for 2 weeks! Some soreness still which she said would be the case for a week or two more around the largest incision but otherwise my recovery has been smooth! I am back at work this week but sitting at a desk most of the day just trying to get up and walk a lap every hour or so. Still kind of hard to get both the 60oz of water and 60g of protein, I’ve set timers to remind myself to drink every 10 mins or so to make sure I can get the water in. Looking forward to some greek yogurt and refried beans tomorrow!! @girlaccountant I’m sorry you are already back at two jobs that has to be tough! @labgoddess I am struggling sometimes too especially because I am trying to take walks and halfway through getting really tired and hating that I have to turn around and walk all the way back 😂 but I am hoping that eating some actual food will help!!! Glad to hear everything is going pretty well for everyone and it will just keep getting better!

    Feeling full or gassy?!

How are y’all doing otherwise? I have one incision and spot that is still quite sore. Otherwise no pain. A little tired, but doing well and weight loss has been good so far.VSG- 04/15/19 HW: 322SW: 300CW: 290Down: 32 pounds and 8.5 inches

    April Sleevers

My sleeve was April 4. I dropped weight the first week but have not lost any in the past 10 days. A pound down, a pound up. Has this happened to anyone else?

Weight flies just as fast as time!

Amazing 150lbs in 10 months wow tell me more about your daily regime? Any special foods or exercise that helped tone up? I'm 320, male and 183cm I want to lose 140lbs myself
  22. I had gastric sleeve surgery on October 24, 2018. So that makes today my 6 month post op anniversary. It's been a crazy experience so far, this weight loss surgery thing. I am still amazed sometimes at how much my life has changed for the better. I started off at 235 lbs on Oct 10, 2018 (start of my 2wk pre-op liquid diet) and am now 138.1 lbs, which means I lost 96.9 lbs (or 41% of my TOTAL body weight) since October 10th. Crazy. Went from a BMI of 43.2 (morbidly obese) to 25.4 (almost a normal 25!) Chest-Waist-Hips measurements (in inches) went from 48 - 431/2 - 491/2 to 35 - 29 - 361/2 Off all prescription meds, no longer pre-diabetic nor do I have a fatty liver anymore. And Mr. is so very happy that I stopped snoring (like a freight train, apparently) the day after surgery. I feel stronger, more confident, more energized and more.....AWESOME. Of course there are some downsides: Alot of my hair has fallen out (but I *think* it has stopped and new teeny hairs seem to be spouting...but this may just be wishful thinking lol) My arms are pretty saggy. Though I am already shopping around for surgeons to get this fixed, hopefully by the fall. I am trying to wean myself off of my PPI and it is proving to be an unpleasant task. I've only been at it for a week and a bit, so I'm still holding out hope that it will turn around soon. I have a love-hate relationship with my toilet as far as pooping goes. But for the record, I would still do this all again in a heartbeat. I am more than pleased with my progress so far and credit it with the following: ** Disclaimer: the following works for ME, and may not jive with others' way of doing things...** Tracking and recording EVERYTHING I eat and drink Weighing myself every morning (and track fat, lean body mass percentages) Take my body measurements once a week Try to get 70g of protein a day (don't always make this) Drink at least 2.5 litres of water a day Keep net carbs to less than 20g per day Go to bed on an empty stomach Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night (don't always make this either) Exercise of some form or another for at least 1 hour every day ...and when I can, get said exercise in before I have my first meal of the day. I had already surpassed my doc's projected goal for me back in January, and I am about 18 lbs from my own personal goal and am pretty excited about it , though I may be more excited about getting rid of these bat wings.
