The odd NSV's of a Paramedic

That's a great read thanks!! One of my favourite of your NSV's were the veins.. I'm a phlebotomist and when I did my training no one could feel or find my veins.. They were very well hidden.. Now I've lost 100lbs I too can't stop prodding and poking my nice 'new' prominent veins!! Amazing achievements! Well done! -

I had an nsv today! I tried on a pair of size 14 capris and they fit! Cute even! 3 months ago I wore a size 20! Tightly! I'm geeked! Hell yeah! Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk -
I was asked by the hospital where I had surgery (Summit Medical Center in Van Buren, AR) to do a photoshoot for a marketing campaign to promote the WLS program. I don't have the real pics yet, but someone snapped a cell phone pic fom the side. This was a huge NSV for me. I felt like a model and it was really fun! I recommend everyone doing something like this for yourselves. You could go to Portrait Innovations or even WalMart portrait studios for very little $, but we all have SO much to be proud of! A few other pics.... My FIRST 5k!! Two legs in one! My new size SMALL workout pants! (never thought I would be in a small anything!) The before shot for comparison sake...

WOOT! Great NSV!

So I had a NSV today and I just had to share! I’ve been very depressed since my surgery because four days after my surgery, I’m five weeks post op, I got a staph infection in one of my incision sites and had to have it drained and have a drain put in for almost two weeks due to an abscess. I was very depressed even my coworkers were worried even though I was still home and I isolated myself from everyone. It took a very long time for the incision to close and I was beginning to worry. Well with that being said, today my friend who is a medical assistant and helping me through this confirmed that my incision is officially closed!!!! No more band aids or butterfly sutures!!! This has officially been the best day ever. I called the surgeons office and told them, they were aware she was watching it and I asked if I could start working out again and they gave me the green light!!! This has been a big day for me today 🙏🏼

@@nervousnelly719, @@lisyl & @@laura_rose16 - I think you all are experiencing the norm for most: buyers remorse (it does get better) head hunger (craving food, when you are NOT really hunger) the realization of your new "full" (yes 1 former serving now = 3 servings!) Stay on plan provided by your medical team: hydrate, move and protein! Stay off the scale, or only weigh weekly! Measure yourself now so when the scale doesn't move you can see the NSV in the tape measurement

NSV = Non scale Victory (something great that does not have anything to do with weight/numbers) Here is a link to a post with other helpful terms: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7959

Those are all great NSV's, I am so happy for you. I am always telling my band that it's ok and it doesn't need to cry, I am aware it is there, I am the opposite of everyone else, I gurggle when I am hungry.~Mandy

Today a co-worker comes up and tells me, "I can really tell..." Tell what? Tell who? I didn't do it... "I can really tell you've lost some weight since your surgery." Really? I never told you about my surgery. "I'm glad your health wasn't really bad." What? I've never been sick in the entire time I've known you... So I tell her, "Well, maintaining my good health was one of the reasons I had the surgery - I was really high risk for a lot of things like diabetes, high BP, etc. and wanted to try and make sure I didn't full-on develop them." She says... "Oh, wow - I can't believe you didn't have diabetes, that's really unusual for someone as big as you not to have it." I've yet to receive a good, plain, un-hitched verbal NSV. I always get these stupid little antithesis NSVs! :angry
-
GRRRR. I hate it when some people speak before they think what they are saying!!!! Not all obese people have diabetes. Don't worry you will get the "un-hitched NSV" you deserve!

How about your jewelry (rings) after surgery?
Angel❤️ replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey @@pik! Call me crazy, but THAT RING IS FRIGGIN GORGEOUS and I'd have it somewhere in a safe or safety deposit box until I got married!!! LOLOLOL I think you said it's a year or so out, so that little bundle o' joy would be sized one time only - when I was ready to walk down the aisle. That's an awesome NSV to look forward to and losing a little wear time now to preserve the integrity and have to only have it sized once, would be well worth the sacrifice. I'd buy a cheaper 'transition' ring for now. That's just my two cents. By the way, did I mention that your ring is FRIGGIN GORGEOUS?!?!?!?!? :-) -

@@MichiganChic yes, yes and yes to your above statements being overweight does contribute to many incidents/slips falls my mom ALWAYS "reminded" me of stuff like that anything that happens to you that is bad is because i was overweight probably if i got a splinter she would say its because............... fitting into chairs/booths/hospital gowns was/could frequently be a challange one NSV over a year ago.......... i remember sitting down to sit in the movie theater, and i went woa!!!! there was soooo much room on each side!!!! i said to my sister, they must be making these seats bigger now other time, same situation.... i was walking in the airplane aisle towards my seat, and i realized they also must have made the aisles wider then finally when i sat in the airplane seat - holy moly, there was so much room on each side of me!! like we all know - its the little things don't worry about me and Kohl's - we're attached at the hip you've lost 142 lbs!!!!! that is so amazing!!!! its wonderful how different you/me/we feel after losing weight keep up the great job (i know you will!!!) waiting for you to cross the goal/finish line i'll see you there kathy
