Jane, I love the idea of a group hike! We should plan a Saturday trip. I'm having a fine weekend so far. I still haven't finished my midterm. Even now, at 25 I am still can't do my homework early. I can't even understand how people can finish projects weeks early. I went to the gym today. 1 hour on the elliptical and finally used the weight machines. I did legs tonight and I am going to be sore for days! I've been doing a lot of arm stuff, but my Wii Active makes me do things that make my knees make funny noises, so I skip those exercises. I've determined that I definately was a delusional size 26 squeezing myself into a 24. I think all that lycra helped. On Friday I wore pants I hadn't worn in perhaps a year or more, they had dust at the top of the hanger! They had absolutely no lycra, and I even buttoned the inner button, I didn't cheat with just the metal tabs! Last week I went for a ride with my dad in his retirement toy aka his tiny little convertable. It was easier to get in and out (NSV!) I was holding my hair back and just happened to look in the side mirror to see my arm flapping in the wind. Needless to say, I'm focusing a bit more on toning now!

I just had a NSV: A pair of denim capris, and a tee-shirt I have not worn in a year and a half fit- PERFECTLY!, took a shot in the dark trying the capri's on, and they slid right on and buttoned no problem!!!!!! Again, They are NY & co,Size 14 but they are slim-fit So they are probably a 12 in other stores. And when I got them they were TIGHT on me Like to the point that after I ate I had to un-button them and pull my shirt down to cover it, They looked like they were screaming- PLEASE HELP ME!!! and I had to take them off immediatly when I got home. Again for the enormousness of my behind, I have to pull them up constantly so I don't get the "cut-off roll".... The tee-shirt I just pulled it on and it fit in all the right places.... The last time this happend was 3 years ago. I'm in heaven right now!

    I'm here to help...

Jill, congratulations on your year bandanniversary and also on your losses -- both pounds and sizes -- it doesn't matter how much someone loses -- what matters is that you continue on your path to a new healthier you and it sounds like you have been and will continue to be very successful. I'm so happy that you had such wonderful NSV and especially at the wedding - wow! I bet you were glowing! That should help you stay inspired for your next year with the band! So happy for you!! Laura, so happy you had a great time with your sister and now you're mom and dad coming - that's nice too -- I'm jealous -- I still have 4-1/2 weeks until I get to see my family -- can't wait! Meredith, can't imagine that you have that much drainage but maybe it's cause they only used one incision (right? you had the new one incision band, I think). So none of us would have any idea because all of us had the old, 5 incision bands. I'm sure you'll be fine if you continue to follow doctor's orders and keep a close eye on it. Ifyourband, I'm so sorry you had such a bad time with your folks and that your mom got hurt. Hope she's doing better and everything has calmed down. Proud of you for recognizing that you needed to write rather than eat -- it's hard to get through the first few eating triggers, but sounds like you did a good job. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Linda

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

GOOD MORNING! Hi Tap, I'm always around. Well most of the time. I just don't have much to report on. Well, here's a bit of an NSV you all might want to hear about. I haven't worked a Friday since early November of last year. The reason is our State is in financial crisis. I've always already gotten every other Friday off, however with us having two Furlough days off per month it just worked out to where I hadn't worked one in a very long time. Now my Dept has been exempted during our most busy time. I work for Emergency Services so it makes good sense. Anyway, to Celebrate I decided to bring with me a dozen (very fresh) donuts, some bran muffins and orange juice. Everyone chowed down on the donuts, but the bran muffins havent been touched! ROFL!! Well, this brings me to my NSV. Even though I put out the money for the donuts I didn't have NOT ONE! Besides that, so many other Depts around me brought goodies too. They even made waffles in the Directors Office and was invited to get some if I wanted. Did I? NOOOOO!!!! So, that's my story of the day! Have a nice weekend all!!!

    Making It Through Tough Times

It's hard as women to take care of ourselves...we're all so used to nuturing and putting others first. I got my mammo reminder a few weeks ago and threw it on my desk. Thanks for reminding me. Glad the food issues are going well for you...and Kathy's right, those NSV's will come when you least expect them, that's what makes them so great. -BG

    Twenties NSVs

Congrats Lurr. MY NSV has to do with Pants as well.... I 'm in that inbetween sizes phase, but am able to get my fat ass into a pair of work pants that say "12" on them.... It's so strange how NY & co runs.... I have a pair of Work pants from them that are an 18, and they are becoming loose on me. But a different cut pants are a 12 and fit nicely..... I usually have a good day when I wear the 12's lol

    Twenties NSVs

thats awesome laur! I remember when I first fit into my old pair of size 16s; it was such a good feeling not having to lay down on the bed and suck in just to button it. (and to think.... now six months after that NSV i am almost HALF that size?!) sorry you have been feeling down lately. My boobs took awhile before they got smaller.. I still fit into my old 38D bras, but they aren't busting out of them anymore I guess, and I don't have those back fat rolls from struggling to clasp it in the back. Don't get down on yourself too hard! You have to remember how far you've come in such a short time.. and the fact that you are STILL losing weight! it takes awhile for the mind to catch up with the body... believe me, mine is still wayyy way behind. and mrriceguy-- I hope you are proud of yourself for that 3 mile jog! I was only just now able to run 5k a week or two ago... and you are running with more weight on you so now I am feeling like I need to step my game up if I am going to keep up with YOU! and I am sooooo jealous that you went hiking in Alaska. That sounds like an awesome trip.

    Twenties NSVs

Well, I've been really down on myself because I haven't lost much weight lately. Which in result makes me feel fat. But I still managed to have a NSV. When I was in Alaska, I went on several really intense hikes and was able to keep up with all the athletic people in our group, and wasn't the guy holding everyone up. Woohoo! Also, I went for a jog yesterday and was able to do 3 miles more or less non-stop. I had to walk to cross streets and stuff like that, but was able to run it. Now all I need is that number to start going down again.
  13. I asked about this at my last fill a week ago. I asked the nurse why the scale had only changed 2.5 pounds in 4 weeks, but my clothes were getting baggier. She explained it like this: If a pound of muscle is this big (held up one closed fist) then a pound of fat is THIS big (held up both closed fists together). I really needed that visual to understand this concept. That makes me much more content with NSVs!!! It's nice to know what exercise I do is paying off and changing that fat to muscle and taking up less space under my skin.
  14. As i have surpassed the 2.5 year mark since receiving my band 1/19/07 I have a question- what are your long range expectations and how often are you still going to the doc for appts and fills? Do you think that is it possible to just max out of what the band can do for you? Are there people out there who were banded way before us who still go to the doc for appointments and fills?? I have the "old" band which is 4cc. I had my last fill April 2009 and I have about 3.25 cc in my band. My doc gives fills in .25cc increments. My last fill showed some reflux and she took some out so I know that they are not going to give me any more anytime soon b/c I am still experiencing some reflux & just a little bit of fill makes a difference. I have been on a prolonged plateau-many many months. I have tried every combination of caloric intake vs. exercise i can think of and nothing has made a difference. While I am grateful that i have not gained, I feel that I am doing too much to just be maintaining. I need to see some downward movement. Is becoming harder to stay motivated but I am afraid to totally give up b/c I don't want to fail and go back to what I was. I try to focus on the NSV's such as overall improved health, blood sugar and blood pressure good, cholesterol going down, even better clothes etc. But it is getting harder every month that the scale does not change. My doc says that I have been 'fat' for so long that my body is fighting it. All I want to see is 199 after an all time high of 368. My body will not let me stay under 220. So my question is what I stated in my opening. Will there come a time where I will totally drop off and not go to the doc for follow ups/fills and that be the end of the road??
  15. I do have one NSV I would like to report. My mom and I were at Kohl's over the weekend looking at shoes (my favorite) but I've never bothered to try on stilhetto heels because my feet have always been too wide. I've lost some weight in my feet and they aren't are wide anymore. I tried on a pair of Candies and they fit perfectly. They looked good too. I didn't buy them because I didn't have the money but I may go back one payday and get them. But I was very excited to know I could fit into a pair of those shoes!
  16. thanks for the pic comment and the compliments! happy to share my NSVs, but just especially happy that i am HAVING them! heres one i had today... sharing it JUSt for you (because you said you like reading them! haha)

i was working out with my trainer today, and while i was doing pushups he goes "hey, i can finally see your tricep muscles coming in!" my arms are my least favorite part of my body, but they are getting muscular which is awesomeee and so motivating for me to lift harder. then, later in the workout, he just kinda stops and says "you know, thinking back to when we first met (like 8 months ago).. it's just night and day. you arent the same person at all. you can run circles around the old you." which, i mean, i knew... but its always great when someone else notices your achievements.

you have done a great job so far along the journey with your weightloss! keep in touch!

    i have a question...

Hey Riane: You might want to search on the NSV threads to see if someone says they got to come off of their cpap machines because they probably could give you theirs if they don't need it anymore. Good luck finding a machine. I hope someone gives you one. Sue

    Why I love my band. . .

Woo Hoo! That is a major NSV, one that I look forward to very soon.
  19. I had a major NSV this weekend. I got stuck in the middle seat of an airplane for one leg of my flight to Austin. For years, I've been terrified of getting stuck in the middle because I knew that I'd be cramped and uncomfortable, and that the people on either side of me would just be hating me the whole time. BUT, at eight months post-op and 48 lbs down, I fit in that seat with a bit of room to spare! Woo-hoo! :tongue_smilie: Catherine

I just read some of the NSV on the 20's board. Can I just tell you ladies how frusterating it is to have lost 37 lbs and still not be down to a 22! I'm noticing my body changing, and my clothes fit better, but seriously! My aunt always said 10 lbs was the difference of a size for her. I've lost nearly 40 and I'm still in the same clothes. Ugh. It makes me wonder if I was really a delusional 26 squeezing myself into a 24?

you look awesome angie, what a cute skirt/outfit! and you definitely look like a 12, at least in that picture, so go YOU! i love reading long NSV posts, reminds me of things in my life that i didnt even think about as being a NSV but totally are! i was in new york this weekend for the 4th staying with friends.... and lets just say i got a LOT more male attention this time around than on previous times out with all the girls. haha, ill leave it at that! going to a cousins wedding in september and will be seeing a ton of family i havent seen in awhile, looking forward to (but also sort of dreading) that night! oh and, i'm calling it... im definitely a size 10 and not a sort-of 10 sort-of 12 now! cant wait until i am officially a size EIGHT! single digits baby! i think i can definitely get there by the end of the summer..

    Twenties NSVs

Hi everyone, Haven't been on here in a while and thought I'd check in to say hi. I've been having a wonderful summer, and although my weight is pretty stalled right now (finally getting my fill tomorrow) I have experienced a lot of wicked Non-Scale-Victories in the past few weeks and thought I'd share! The first round happened at my cousins wedding which was on June 21st. It was a huge wedding - over 400 guests and I was a bridesmaid. I saw a lot of extended family and friends who hadn't seen me at this low a weight in at least 5 or so years... it was a great feeling and I got tons of really sweet supportive feedback, as well as some of the annoying - "good work, but don't stop now," or "I'm so glad you're finally doing it!" UGH. But the sweetest feedback I got that night was from my friend Danger Dave (this is VT -all the boys have funny nicknames.) Towards the end of the night, we were sitting outside, taking a dance break, and he said something about "you look great Ange." I said thanks - mentioned the professional hair and makeup. He said no, it was more than that... I can tell you lost weight. This was definitely a bold move on his part - asking a girl about that, even mentioning that elephant in the room. It was super sweet though, because he just acknowledged how hard that must have been, and how impressed and proud he was. Definite warm fuzzies. It's kind of awkward to mention, haha, but Dave's not the only boy who's noticed a difference in me. A lot of them seem to be noticing me, period. It's funny - I'm still hanging out at around 230lbs, I've still got a long way to go weight wise, so what I think what these boys are responding to is the change in confidence I'm going through. I feel prettier, sure, but more so, I feel empowered, accomplished. It's wicked. My third, and my most favourite kind, was my shopping NSV. I was in California last week and got to pop in to one of my favourite stores, J Crew. I love this store. Once I can fit into all their clothes, I'll probably be completely broke with a completely beautiful preppy wardrobe. I saw this cute high-waisted skirt, and thought I'm not 100% a 14 these days, but eh, might as well try. I looked, but alas, they didn't have a 14 in the colour I wanted. I asked a sales associate for help, and she told me they didn't have any. I decided to just grab the 12 to take in with me while I was trying on some tees. And guess what... The 12 fit great. GREAT. And although it is a pretty flattering and forgiving cut, I still can't believe it's only a 12. And as I was coming out to show my friends, the sales associate said "I knew it would fit... You don't look much like a 14 anyways!" I couldn't believe it. So of course I bought it even though I totally can't afford it. I pretty much wanna sleep with it on I love it so much! Here's a pic of me wearing it for my nephew's first bday party - Well that turned into a long long entry. Hope everyone's doing well and enjoying the sunshine! xox
