Band With Plication?
lifestylechanger67 replied to springday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had the plication with the band on 3-13-2012. I have a lot of stomach growling as well but I stay hungry. I am not sure if its mental or if I'm really hungry. I have lost 12lbs so far and started walking more. I am still doing my protein drinks and drinking lots and lots of water -
Hello everyone! I found this site and was wondering if there is anyone out there in Southern MN? I had surgery July 2013... And today I was called by someone I didn't know who told me my surgeon closed his practice and moved; however they couldn't tell me where, only I would be getting a letter with other providers who I could contact for treatment. Kicker, I am due for another fill in 3 days.

3 weeks post-op and I'm struggling!
stinker replied to unsurenewbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery the day before you did - the protein shakes and unjury powder really kept me from being hungry, but I felt VERY FATIGUED. It was when I was able to eat protein again that I felt more energetic. I have had to experiment with how much food to eat, to learn to stop BEFORE I feel full. I use 8 oz plexiglass ramekins to get a good visual of how much I should eat (NOT THE WHOLE THING FULL! Just the bottom of the dish...). I have been managing about 3 oz of protein with a couple of bites of veg and fruit. I chew, chew, chew, and if I don't chew enough and I eat too mindlessly, I can feel the stretch in my sleeve. I agree with Suepeeps...if you are following instructions, the likelihood that you are doing any real damage is LOW! Also, at first, it seemed like I had a hard time distinguishing hunger from the sensation of my stomach being empty, or even just feeling thirsty. When you feel unsatisfied, tried sipping on some water or crystal lite and see if that helps? Good luck and thanks for your post! -
HELP!!! Post Op Complication and Costs
onenuttynurse replied to Bozav8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh..you are kind of in a tough spot here....Its called a risk as with any surgery. I would wait and see what has happened. Sounds like a hole is present in the band. They will be able to due it under fluro to see if there are any leaks. Its a tough one because you paid out of pocket, unfortunately as with any surgery, there are really no guarantees. Expecially since its been 3 years. Be patient and See if your insurance will cover it. As for hiring a attorney. What are you wanting to sue them for? That would be a tough thing to prove, and do you want to wait possibly 3 years to settle it. Also, they will go though you with a fine tooth comb before they give you a dime, and if they find one thing that she didnt comply with having this band, then its a no go..Believe me, I can attest to that...I wish you the best and maybe it is something very simple that can be fixed.....onenuttynurse -
Eight Weeks Out And Im At A Stall, Why? What Can I Do To Jump Start This?
panda replied to Kathy Dipzinski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was stalled I was eating 800 cals a day, I upped it to 900 and BAM! the stall was gone. So what I'm thinking is you're eating too few calories, you might want to up it a little and see what happens. Also switch up your workout routine or try something new to shock your body, it'll kick it back into gear! Hope this helps. It'll end, they always do =) -

25 days post sleeve.
LGrierson replied to sammysue5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to get in your Protein or you will stop losing weight. I am almost a month out and at week 2 I wasn't eating much and didn't lose weight for about a week. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Start again.
Treadmillwalker replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The band is working well for me. I am losing about 2 to 2.5 pounds a week so around 10 pounds a month. I need to work on exercise. I sit at a computer all day and come home and sit some more. Today I told hubby I'm going to exercise no matter what. Regarding my eating I limit bread and steak which doesn't agree with my band. Everything else I eat small portions of. I track using My Fitness Pal. I'm working hard to be consistent with my healthy eating. Thanks for asking. I hope you are doing well. Lap-banded and love it! -

I have heard so many stories about 3 months to 6 months for approval. Some say you need 2 year records of being overweight. I’m just hoping that my insurance advocate has the right information so there’s surprises at the end of my 90days. Thanks for your feedback. -
Pre workout post surgery?
AZhiker replied to Megan Catherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wall pushups, walking, walking, walking. Light weights (like 2-3 pounds) for upper body routine. It's about reps, not how heavy the weights are. Might be too early for a leg routine, as abs come into play with squats and lunges. There are a lot of good arm and leg routines online. Start with a few and gradually add others. -
SABOTAGE DREAMS
Carlotta1 replied to Unbesleeveable's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

So I have noticed that a lot of you are posting YouTube Videos of your experience. I am not at all comfortable posting videos of myself I have decided to post a new blog on my blog site. I will be posting about my experience with the lap band and also with the research study I am apart of that goes with this surgery. Here is the link to my blog: My surgery is not scheduled until October 30 but I have posted about my process with getting my surgery approved and with the research Study. http://mynewlifeoct30.blogspot.com/ To see my other blog from when I spent 4 weeks at the Biggest Loser Resort in Ivins, Utah: http://mylifechangingexperience-nykol.blogspot.com/ P.S. I don't think you can post comments unless you have a blog spot account. Feel free to contact me on here directly or create an account!

Tiny But Sharp Pain After Lunch
SageTracey replied to RahRahRah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be where you had a stitch but you are about six weeks post op so shouldn't be too much going on there. It may be totally unrelated to your band. You describe it as tiny so I wouldn't be too worried just yet. If it doesn't go away or gets worse, be sure to get medical advice, just to give you peace of mind. -
Pre workout post surgery?
New&Improved replied to Megan Catherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 weeks you might want to start slow don't push yourself too much. I know I'm not meant to lift anything over like 10lbs until 4 weeks so I'm taking it very easily right now 2 days from 2 weeks post op -
Hello I’m a new to this site and have just a few questions about the process. I already had my seminar 01-22-19 and my 1st official weigh in appointment is 2-12-19. I’ve been told by my insurance advocate that will be time where I can’t gain weight. My insurance is Aetna and they require 3 month diet plan with psych evaluation and a dietician visit. So I guess my question is what has been your experience with Aetna ? What should I lookout for that my hold up my approval. Thanks

Just get started
2Bsmaller18 replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started the process the beginning of October. I had the 4th nutrition visit in January (first one was in Oct, then every 28-30 days another so the 4th appointment for weigh in was on day #91 in january). Then I saw the surgeon a week later. They submitted the paperwork and Aetna mailed me the approval letter 10 business days later. From what I understand your weight can go up and down a little due to different clothing etc. (preferable down) during the 90 day nutrition visits but they want that final 90 day weight in to be lower than the first visit. During that 90 day period I did the other tests, blood work etc. For me my surgery is scheduled about 4.5 months after that very first appointment. -
Gastric sleeve vs. gastric bypass - your opinions:
Decembersleever replied to alannahroseoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a couple of stalls but I ignore them and stay with the plan. I do not have any regrets. Today three different people asked me if I was losing weight and then they said I was looking very good. Made my day!!!! -
Pre workout post surgery?
lvidacovich replied to Megan Catherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually its not all about reps. Low reps and high weight still breaks the muscles down and gives them the need to rebuilt just as much as low weight high reps. I did a program before surgery that was 1x a week, low reps high weight and I increased all of my maxes by quite a bit in a short time frame. That said - anything is better than nothing! -

Thanks everyone :-) I got the sleeve 4 months ago & it's been amazing for me! I have no food problems at all, pain, problems eating/drinking!! It seems to be great!! I just wanted to see if anyone wishes they got a different wls. Did anyone further into post op have annoyingly long stalls?! -
A Little Bummed
Butterthebean replied to giraffequeen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My doc told me not to even weigh myself until I was 2 weeks out (of course I did anyway). Your body is going through some major changes. Your weight will fluctuate. You've just had major surgery, you've started exercising and drastically changed your diet. Your body needs time to adjust to all this. The scale is not an accurate reflection of fat loss over such a short period of time. Be patient. This is normal. Hide your scale. Use a tape measure instead. -
Not Drinking Enough Post-Op
bella71 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering the same thing. It's been two weeks since my surgery, and I have been sipping water all day, but it never seems to add up to much water. I decided to leave water bottles in my car and at my desk at work to increase my fluid intake. -
I was banded Feb. 8, and I am having trouble getting all my liquids in. I probably drink half of what I'm suppose to. I'm not hungry or anything, but I'm not thirsty either. I have one more week of full liquids then on to mushies. Is this a problem and did anyone else have trouble getting in the required liquids post-op?
