    ❤ APRIL 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Learn something new. I watched Brene Brown’s new special on Netflix (I love her), and I learned at least 10 things while watching it. Her books and TED talks on YouTube are really worth your time too. Debating if I’m going to the gym today, Sunday’s are crazy busy there. If not I’ll workout at home and go for a long walk. Deeber, I hate getting lost too, but not as extreme as you. I do love reading maps, whenever we go on vacation my husband knows to buy any kind of map we find along the way.
  2. Hi I am 27 months out.I had made goal fairly quickly in the first year. And had passed it.Then I was hospitalized in my 13th month and was on a liquid diet and constant ivs.I had some weight gain from that and during that year I was on a week of Prednisone.I have been on trials of meds for certain things. My total weight gain was 20 pounds. My surgeon gives a 10 pound grace.I am 10 pounds over.Any help or suggestions would be appreciated thank you
  3. I'm 20 months post op. I've had a difficult 6 months, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, put on a range of medication, including a larger dose of prednisone, methotrexate (which exhausts me) and other medications (so.many.pills). At the moment, my pain is still not under control. Between the pain, fatigue and relentless need to eat (prednisone is awful) and some depression, I started to eat a lot of crap. Slipped back into some bad habits (avoid those slider foods). So I put on weight. At my lowest weight, I was 179 lbs (81kg). Last Wednesday, I realised my weight was back up to 220 lbs (99.5 kg). Being a metric girl, I did not want to climb over 100kg. I freaked out and put myself back on a high protein/low carb 1000 calories daily allowance. In 4 days, I have lost 10 lbs (4.8kg). My body has responded in a way that really surprised me. I do not think it's healthy to lose 10lbs in 4 days. I have never lost weight this quickly. I am guessing that a lot of this wight loss is bloating/water weight from the medication. However, I was just wondering if anyone else has fought regain. What are your best tips? Has anyone else experienced a major drop in weight? Now that the sleeve isn't as restrictive, this is feeling like it's going to be a difficult journey. Any tips? Particularly from any veterans? I would love any support.
  4. Hi all. I am having the VSG on May 20, 2019. I am getting nervous. I have been reading posts on the forum and a lot of people seem miserable, which worries me more. I am assuming the anxiety is probably normal as it is a life change. I am in grad school and start my clinical rotations exactly a month out of surgery and am scared that I will be weak and it will throw off clinical rotations. Can anyone say that at one month out they felt okay to work long hours every day except one? Can it be done? Also, I know this is going to be different for anyone. How much weight will I lose the first month, second, third (average)? I am worried that I will not have clothes to wear to work and clinical. If I have a guesstimate I can semi-plan what size I will need and ask around. Thanks! Teri
  5. I've been reading and reading ever since my primary recommended it back in Feb. 2018... I seen my Sleeve doctor on 4-19-18 and was approved this month.. It's just that my Dr said no need for dropping.. Thanks for the advise.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I weigh every day and try to keep calories under 1000, carbs under 50. Workout 5 x a week . Have been doing great , down 60 but this last month I only lost 6 lbs . Still I am about 12 lbs from goal so it’s the last bit and I am in size 10 and honestly wouldn’t be unhappy to be at this weight long term . No just dear regains when I am 6-8 months out from the sleeve so I want to overshoot my “comfortable “ weight
  7. Pretty well so far. I've lost over 40 pounds in about 10 weeks.

    One year mark

I am not quite to the one year mark, that will be May 10th of this year. My life has changed so much for the better that I wish I had done this years ago. First, it is a lot of hard work. I log everything I eat. I light weighs 3-5 times a week religiously. I walk 5-10 miles a day religiously. That said, I do occasionally eat foods I shouldn’t. I eat cake on my birthday. I eat ice cream once a week with my daughters. I still eat a bun with my hamburger and if I go watch a movie in theaters I will eat popcorn because life is too good to pass up and I want to experience it. I’m not perfect by any means but I’ve worked hard and 90% of the time I do exactly what I should be doing. I’ve dropped a ton of weight. Before I had the surgery I took 11 pills a day for various health issues. Today, I take zero prescribed medications and haven’t for the last three months. The only medicine I take now are vitamins. I was super worried before the surgery — it is a massive surgery when you think about someone cutting out large chunks of a vital organ. I had two little kids, a 1 year old and a 3 year old at the time. All I could think of was what if it went wrong and I left them without a dad. That said, at the weight I was at, I was going to eventually eat myself into an early grave and leave them without a father anyway. I’m glad I took the plunge. I lost the majority of my weight in the first six months. It started to slow down around the 9th month and the last three I’ve lost about 6 lbs a month. I’ve already hit my goal. I’m about 22lbs away from my vanity goal that I never thought I would hit before surgery. I tried to be realistic but I think I might surpass my vanity goal at this rate. Here are pictures.

    April buddies?

I hope everyone is doing great post op. Mine was April 23, 2019. Today is April 27 and I am 16 pounds down. Pain is gone, no nausea. Sometimes a little discomfort when drinking broth. I am not feeling any hunger. However, I am very tired and sleepy alot. Maybe it due to the low calories. Tomorrow I start the protein shakes. When is everyone returning to work? I was told I can return Tuesday the 30th. Good luck to all of you and enjoy your start to a new and better life!

    ❤ APRIL 2019 CHALLENGE❤

#27. Now this makes me wistful. My dream vacation would be back to say 2004 or 2005,both my late son and late husband would be still with me. I would be showing them parts of Ohio neither of them had seen before. Like the steeped churches in Northwestern Ohio. Each town has Saint's name, like St Henryand St Mary. They were all founded by German immigrants who came to the U.S.and Ohio looking for a better life. And I would told them more often. just how much I loved them, oh I'm sure they sensed it but I could still have done it more. Who could suspect in 2008 I would have had my son die and his father followed in 2012? Things were starting to go out way family-wise, Tomkitten was in his 20s, older brother was entering his 30s, so we were about finished raising them so could start enjoying them as co-adults. We thought we had all the time in the world to enjoy each other. I was still working at WallyWorld, so yes vacations would have to organized around my free time, but also I made enough money we could stay in hotels if we wanted instead of sleeping bags on the ground. What would my Dram vacation be in 2019? Gee I dont quite know, as. I go on losing weight different facets of Me, long buried, are resurfacing. I'm no longer round-faced, my body is different, even the way I prepare and eat food is different, I am rebuilding Me and like many constuction projects, you may have blueprints but until you're finished you aren't sure what you've gotten into!

Surgery is complete! Onto road to recover

I hit it once with the band, the happiest day was when I actually weighed less than what was on my driver's license. It had always been a dream weight. I remember when I put on a pair of jeans and saw the light between my thighs. We will do it. I have 2 more appointments then I have to wait for a surgery date. My knees are anxious too. We will try to be patient. My doctor today while working on my knees asked if I could lose just 10 pounds. I told her I would try but if you get to the point you can't walk to exercise it is pretty hard. I'll drag the kayak out and get in it when I can. I hope you have a safe and successful journey.

    I didn't realize when I lost weight that _____

I didn't realize that when I lost weight... That I would be so inclined to purchase 5 pairs of the same affordable, Jones New York Lexington Bermuda white shorts (we can wear white here all year around) in decreasing sizes. I started out with size 18 in February. Dropped into a size 16 by March. This April - I am now wearing size 14. Size 12 by late May? Maybe settle into a sound size 10 by June or July? At any size, I really like the tailored jean fit and feel. Goes with everything in my revolving wardrobe. You might want to check them out. Purchased at our Dillard's store here. Will I need a size 8 someday? No way! Is that even possible. Oh boy. Silly, I know, but I always liked looking nice before surgery even in sizes 2X or 3X... AND, I am absolutely elated like Greentealael to celebrate regular size labels again!!! It is a euphoric moment. And, by the way ladies - Guess who tried to pick me up yesterday morning... My hubby! I had laughed when I read earlier posts and thought to myself - I don't think mild manner Robert the engineer would ever try to pick me up. But he did. I kid you not, he wrapped his arms around my mid-section and attempted to lift up! Not realizing a hug was turning into a gymnastic routine, a resounding big OOCH came from my mouth. It really hurt. My ribs and back were sore all day. Understanding he didn't mean to crush me - I said, maybe will use bubble wrap protection the next time. So, definitely, another thing I didn't realize when I lost weight... A new HE MAN thing would emerge. ;]

  23. I had my surgery..gastric sleeve on 3/18/19. I have barely been able to stomach applesauce. I've tried foods based on my bariatric timeline but nothing seems to work long term. Im basically living on ice water. Everything causes discomfort, gas, pain, or diarrhea. Now im having some abdominal pain upper left side. I know im dehydrated due to my lack of water consumption but i get physically sick when i try to drink to much. I am beginning to regret that i did this. 😭 can anyone shed some light on these issues?
  24. My advocate just called and said the words we all wait to hear on this journey “APPROVED.” Thank you all for the support and the comments. My case was submitted on Monday 04/22/19 and I was approved yesterday 04/25/19. Praise God!!!!!!!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I was April 3rd as well. Had pain, nausea, but they managed it immediately with meds, very successfully. Was up and about since day 2. 1 week of liquids, 2 weeks of cream soups, now my first day on puréed. Lost 17 pounds in first 10 days, been stalling since. I take all vitamins and protein, water and walking are harder to manage. Energy is soooo low I hope it will improve with the purees. I have been very emotional and frustrated, I cried and argued with my father, my sis is busy with her kids, so I’m practically alone. Some support from friends would have been nice, like, hey, let’s go for a walk, but they are all busy with their lives...I know I am a crybaby now, but it will pass soon I hope
