    best thing for muscle soreness?

Sombra, a topical analgesic you can buy on Amazon works great and doesn't stink forever like Ben Gay. Stretching is also very important. Gonna look up the foam roller info for myself too. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

    delayed restriction

At 6 months out I am eating about 900-1000 calories a day. My NUT has not given me an amount of food I should be eating since I have been on solid food. Tonight I had 3/4 cup of chili and cheese toast. Most sleevers cannot eat that much. I can easily eat 5 cups of popcorn. However, I do not eat nearly as much as I did pre-surgery. WIth my daily exercise routine I have lost 100 pounds. So, I have been successful I just need to be very mindful of the amount I eat.
  3. Hi folks, I was sleeved last Monday, have lost 20lbs since. For the last 3 days I have been rabidly hungry. I can't stand it. Granted, I drink some Protein or some Water and I am full for maybe 2 or 3 hours...but then it comes back. I am really worried that I am going to eat something that hurts my healing stomach. I just a a finger nail sized piece of pickle - it's tiny and I chewed it up, but still that is not on the liquid only diet I am supposed to followed for the next month. My stomach is hungry - it feels like hunger pains. I feel like I am on a massive diet - really tired at the end of the day and HANGRY. Does this get better? Or is this just something I have to manage going forward? I just don't think I will be able to make it a month on water and Protein drinks. Help!

Sleeved On Monday... Lurking For A Year

How long after until I can eat spicy again? I haven't tempted spicy yet. When does it become easier to swallow? (I feel like there is a pressure pushing back and i can't tell if it's acid reflux or gas or swollen organs) I had a very swollen stomach for the first month ( mornings are usally tighter, but warm liquid helps) How close can the stomach stretch back to its original size? You can stretch it back out, I even have heard of someone getting the surgery again! That should not be something in the back of your head as a plan. The goal is to under eat so you don't get stretched out. What are your problem foods that you liked beforehand and now do not? There are foods that just aren't worth it. You start to think of foods for protien instead of quantity. I had 1 bite of a subway sandwich and was full, however, that bite didn't have enough protien for a full meal. It was a waste of a meal. When did you start sleeping on your stomach again? N/A Any wound problems? I had a problem on my left side. I was told not to pick up 30 lbs for a month. I have 3 toddlers that needed holding and I ripped it open several times.I finally have a scab.

No, but I'm having my 2nd period in 3 weeks. Wonder if I'm absorbing my pill at all.

    Needing Advice & Support

Stalls are normal. You don't lose weight every day or ever week. Your body needs to adjust. I had one month I lost zero pounds but 2 dress sizes. If you are eating right you have nothing to worry about the weight will come off.
  7. I am 10 weeks out from surgery and am happy to say I am down 42lbs! I get frustrated sometimes due to my impatience, but I have never lost this much weight so fast. My older brother just saw me this weekend and gave me a big WTG high five. My clothes fit me better and I am actually fitting in to stuff I havent for over two years. I thank God for his guidence in seeking out this surgery, Was it worth it? YES! I would do it again!. All praise to you Lord.
  8. I totally understand where your coming from! I've been on so many diets my whole life its hard for me to believe this would really work. I was sleeved April 25th so a little over two weeks ago. I started out at 240 lbs. At my two week mark I had lost 17 lbs already, but I have a fear that that's it :-( but I know I can do this and so can you!
  9. I totally understand we live in a society of instant gratification. What ever weight I loose it doesn't seem to be fast enough. But I refuse to become obsessed with my weight so I only weigh in once a week.

First day back at the gym!

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post op for me. I went back to the gym last Thursday and walk but hate it, I want to do the elliptical so bad but my surgeon said 6 weeks. Said even though the incision might not hurt he's more concerned about them healing inside. said the twisting of the torso he does not want since that can pop a stitch and that scares me but I still want to do the elliptical so badly. For now I do the treadmill and stair master.
  11. Pre-op, I was doing 35 minutes on the elliptical at a moderate pace every other day and strength training all the other days. Since getting sleeved, I've been limited to walking which is frustratingly slow and boring even while watching netflix and listening to music on my phone. I decided to go to the gym to today and hit the treadmills. I did 35 minutes alternating between 2.5 mph and 3 mph. I feel great, maybe a little tired but really great. I was thinking of trying the elliptical once my incision are fully healed (they are practically heal but still a little sore on the largest) and possibly a recumbent bike. Has anyone else found gym equipment that works for them early in the post op process?

    Alcohol

I had a class reunion last weekend (actually it was the hubbys but we went to the same school) anyways I'm only 5 weeks post op. I had a cocktail. Vodka and cranberry juice. Slight buzz but not really. Then we went to like an after party. I had at least 6 Jello shots. I could Taste the alcohol but no effect really. I was disappointed. A. For drinking. B. No real effect. What a waste. I was never a big drinker because my Tolerance was low. No more alcohol for me. Plus I'm stalling this week now... hmmn I wonder why??? Living and learning.
  13. This was me! I was sleeved on 4/27/15. I got down to goal and kept that weight for over a year. I am currently pregnant and still within goal weight range. Anyway, I found that food was really no longer a comfort for me. Yes, food is great. yes, I still crave certain foods sometimes. But, it is not what I run for now. I cannot eat like I used to. I practice a diet of moderation. I eat chips, cookies, cake, ice cream, Chinese, Mexican, pasta, you name it. Just not everyday, and just not very much. I actually take the time to listen to my body and realize that most of the time I am not really hungry. I also am committed to exercise. Before getting pregnant I was running 5 days a week, going to weight lifting class 2 times a week, and zumba once a week. I also picked up some other hobbies like sewing, scrapbooking, soap-making, etc. I find that when I am idle, I think about food more. I am almost always in motion...from working, to chasing my toddler, to doing school work, to training our puppy, planting flowers, etc. I just have so much more energy now (even pregnant) and an object in motion tends to stay in motion. If I try to lie around all day, I feel disgusting. Before, I used to spend all of my time on the couch watching TV or reading a book. I think you are doing well by seeking counseling. It helps.
  14. In a routine test today my resting heartbeat was 110. Sort of high. One week out of surgery and when I see my surgeon tomorrow i will mention it. Any reasons?
  15. I have been on a one for about 4 months. They said I was too tight so they loosened me the week after Thanksgiving. I have now gained 9 pounds in 3 weeks. I am eating healthy and still working out. I go in for a fill the 11th. I feel awlful and am regarding my band. I'm almost to my year mark. I had lost 65 pounds now it is 56 pounds. I still have 44 more pounds to go.

    Premier Nutrition

I applied about six weeks ago. They called to confirm my information but they told me they don't have a contract in my state (Massachusetts). I asked why they were confirming my information and was told that they might have a contact in a month or so. Not holding my breath...
  17. Got my band on 4/14/11 and am completely happy with it. I have about 3 lbs to goal and go between 8s and 10s. I recently got an until and happy to report that I am holding my own and not gaining.
  18. I've always been an emotional eater and as I get myself ready for surgery next week, I'm wondering how the veterans...those who have lost the weight and kept it off for more than a year or two...dealt with stress and other emotions, once you were no longer acting out with food. I've just started seeing a therapist, to work on these issues, but there's nothing like hearing from those who have lived it. What worked/works for you? I'm looking for tools to help me succeed. Thanks!

    Band friendly recipes

This is one of my favorite books. I have loved everything I've prepared from this book! I'm making the Carnitas of Pork this week (only I am adding the peels of three oranges for a more authentic flavor) and can't wait! The book is geared toward rny pts. but I found lots of good info and recipes! Her website is awesome too!
  20. I think many of us have that problem, this holiday season. I have an article on stalls that may help explain your problem if it's not like mine (too much food). Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet. As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy so it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored. I hope this helps.

    Not losing

If you dont stop obsessing for every pound now, you are going to be sorely upset when you go a few weeks and lose nothing. Peaks and valleys for weightloss, never a constant loss. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  22. I see the comments that you mind is hungry after surgery even though your not actually hungry... I've even gone through it once or twice after surgery.... But has any one else dealt with other mind games??? A: I'm not willing to take my "fat" 30/32 clothes out of my closet... They are my clothes, I feel like my husband is being evil by taking them away and putting them in a box.... Seriously when did I become so attached to these clothes??? They have been in the box in the middle of my bedroom for about a week now... I might be willing to. Finally let them go to the closet. B: I've lost 68 lbs... I haven't seen it until today... I apparently still have fat googles on (similar to beer googles)... My clothes don't fit right, I had to buy new bras (smaller band size, larger cup size- seriously ridiculous!)... Everyone knows about my surgery and every one says the see it, mind games tell me they are just being nice... this morning I put on my what used to be a size to small stretchy jeans that I had to lay on the bed to zip and then pray that I didn't bust a seam. Today they zipped with easy while standing and I can put my arm down my jeans with out unzipping them (yes I tried). Getting over my mind games slowly but surely... And today I finally see a weightless difference in my pictures... Thought I would share... The left photo was about a month before preop diet and the right picture is today, 68 lbs lighter! Oh and I managed a promotion, one that I've been trying for for about 3 of the last 4 years that I've worked at the company where I work!
  23. Anyone had the band with plication? I did on 3/20/2012 and am doing well! Having some belly growling--it's like my stomach is telling me I am hungry but my brain doesn't think I am all that hungry (although I do feel I could eat). I am on clears-- one ounce every 30 minutes while awake. I feel like I can drink more than that, and have at times. My dietician said I could stretch the pouch. Anyone dealing with this?

    Band With Plication?

Hello, I had the plication with the band on 3-13-2012. I have a lot of stomach growling as well but I stay hungry. I am not sure if its mental or if I'm really hungry. I have lost 12lbs so far and started walking more. I am still doing my protein drinks and drinking lots and lots of water
  25. Hello everyone! I found this site and was wondering if there is anyone out there in Southern MN? I had surgery July 2013... And today I was called by someone I didn't know who told me my surgeon closed his practice and moved; however they couldn't tell me where, only I would be getting a letter with other providers who I could contact for treatment. Kicker, I am due for another fill in 3 days.
