    NSV?

Non scale victory Mikee. It could be anything that tells you that you're smaller other than what the scale says. For me, it's things like being able to walk, sitting in a chair with arms and not worrying I won't fit. Not needing a belt extender on the airplane, etc, etc. Those NSVs are way more satisfying than just numbers watching.

    NSV?

Yes, ma'am, that's a bonafide NSV. So is the increase of the reps. Same here with my love for the pool. It's the one place I can exercise with no issues. I take an exercise class 2-3 times a week and if I can fit it in, I do laps as well. That pool saved me for sure. You have a great day as well Mikee.

    Nsv Ho Roundup!

OK, so I've seen the term NSV ho a few times since joining this site. Share why you are an NSV ho and what your BEST NSV has been since your gastric sleeve surgery. Bring it on! let's have fun with this. So far, my best NSV is that my pre-surgery jeans are almost falling off now :-)
  5. Met with my urologist this morning and I am now officially off my meds for low testosterone!!!

    so is this an NSV??

Actually, I think you had two NSV's there. One for choosing the walk over the food and the other for not killing your husband.:phanvan

    so is this an NSV??

When you mentioned camera and bed & breakfast, my imagination was going in a whole different direction. Sorry things got so complicated for you. But, wow, what an awesome way to react--pounding the pavement instead of throwing ice cream down your throat. NSV extraordinairre!

    Lots of NSV this week!!

Congrats, that's awesome. Had my own NSV just this morning. After years of the doona falling to my husband's side of the bed and leaving me cold and my husband saying it's because I'm bigger and therefore gravity makes it fall off me, last night it fell off HIM! It's not that I'm smaller than him (yet), but much, much closer in size than I have been for many years.

    Body dysmorphia

Well how my BD manifests itself for me. Since my still ongoing Weight loss, I have be3n fearful that I look like I'm on the verge of Anorexia or "Failure to Thrive" , scrawny neck, you now can see my collar bones and visualize my top 3 ribs in my chest cavity, hardly any boobs, down from 46DD to a 40/42B, depending on Bra price point. WAIST has diminished , pot belly is now a small warm- up skillet, Baby "no longer has back", now down to 2 small handfuls, if I could get a guy to grab them. Now the flesh on lower abdomen and thighs, especially inner portions, I liken to a balloon that was blown up and then air let out, an empty blobby stretched appearance, but the legs are beaten and trimmed enough I can wear leggings without somebody thinking I was poured into them and didn't know when to stop. And the sizing , ooh I GLORY at that, I'm back into Juniors where I truly belong, Okay still at the Upper End, 17 and 19 , but still a NSV or close to it, my BMI this AM is 29.2. All sounds pretty fine ? Well I am apprehensive that I look sickly and could possibly DIE! No Less than my Ortho, who called me by my Legal First Name, no MaMa did NOT christen ME Frustr8, I picked IT up along the way. Anyway Dr Doolittle, who is Sport Medicine along with Orthopaedics, so should be able to adequately assess body types. He said " Darlin'( from him I accept the endearment , most other guys I would "Jack-Slap" instead) You are merely starting to look NORMAL!" How would I Know That Already? I have never been NORMAL or AVERAGE in my whole existance! So although much of my Veiwing Public feels I look Just Fine, I fear I Am still the obese unbalanced ugly ME I used to Be, and it is difficult for my Rational Mind to overcome my Bruised Battered Emotional Foundation. I was told by Kith and Kin I was Ugly, Disgusting , barely worthy of life and nobody much wanted me Near Them. Case in Point--- I got a BonoFide Wolf Whistle the Other Day, I looked around because I thought it was a compliment given to someone Else. SAD, ISN'T IT?
  12. I was driving around today in the car and looked down. I suddenly realized my stomach no longer touches the steering wheel. It was far, far, far away and I mean far away. I couldn't believe. Losing 53 lbs really is something. Surgery was December 7th 2011 and I feel so awesome. WhooHoo. Keep rocking your sleeves everyone.
  13. It has been a very interesting day. My car stopped dead in the middle of an intersection in a rain storm on the way to work. Not one person stopped to check on me. Got the car towed to my office, spent a couple of hours getting another tow to the garage and renting a car. The new compliance officer at work gives a whole new meaning to nit picking paranoid micromanager and he isn't even my boss. I had to leave at 3 to get to the first visit with my new doctor, which is normally plenty of time, except I got caught in a slow moving river of minivans; it took me ahalf hour to go less than a mile. Didn't realize school started yesterday. I was late for my appointment; I hate being late. According to my late father, if you were on time you were fifteen minutes late and I took it to heart. Then the doctor finally came in and talked about everything under the sun and pressured me to start insulin which isn't going to happen and then at the last minute, in a kind of afterthought as she was typing up the visit notes, she says "I JUST SENT YOUR REFERRAL FOR THE BARIATRIC PROGRAM TO THE COORDINATOR." :bananapowerslide: WooHoo, I am on my way. I had been thinking all day (because it was so stressful) that I would get dinner at the Chick Fil A just down the block from the Dr. office, but I decided against it...a kind of NSV from me to me. This post is way too long, but I had to tell someone and for the moment LBT is my support system. Thanks for listening. Robbie

Each of you posted something I wasn't aware of in myself, enableing me to say, hey me too! I made Cookies for my son the other day and didn't have one! (NSV! Bypassing junk food) I am moving about and doing things I haven't done in several years because my foot pain from achilles tendonitis and plantars faciitis is gone (Hey another NSV!) Blood Pressure is a huge one, Pete! I have to check mine I haven't in a few weeks. Though I am not on BP Meds, I know that I had elevated BP in the weeks leading up to the surgery. Great going all of us! and this only gets better! Yippee!

I love nsv's. They are more helpful than the sv's. I am enjoying a visit with my sister this week and am enjoying showing her the sites of Florida, some of which I haven't seen yet due to lack of energy. I can keep up with her now and it is her saying, I am ready to go back home now. Thank you everyone for posting your nsv's. They really inspire me.

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

Wow, reading everyone's NSV really makes me think how many small victories I have taken for granted over the last 10 months! I did have 2 profound NSV experiences last week: I help with Market day at my daughters school, I have every month for two years. This month one of the Moms (who has seen and talked with me every month for two years) introduced her self to me, told me it was nice to meet me and thanked me for helping out. I thought it was a little weird. A few days later I was at work and I recognized a women and her husband from somewhere. I asked them if they took my childbirth class 2 years ago, and they said no, they took the class but their instructor..... (long silence).... had long hair! I laughed and told them yes my hair is much shorter hair now. It was at that point that the light bulb went off and I was like OH MY GOODNESS! I had no idea I look that different!

I love to see all the NSV's. I pulled down the 2 tubs in the top of my closet that have too small stuff in them, thought maybe I could find a blouse or two but I was able to get into a couple of pairs of pants, some skirts, pj's and lots of tops. Woo Hoo!! I was getting low on stuff to wear. I did buy 2 pairs of pants on clearance last weekend. I won't pay full price for anything right now. My rings are getting too loose, can't wear my wedding rings right now and my anniversary ring has moved from my left ring finger to the right ring finger and now to the left middle finger. Pretty soon I may not be able to wear it at all but I don't want to have them sized until I'm near goal. I don't like not having something on my ring finger though. Also had to order some new shoes. Went down a 1/2 size. I searched everywhere for some I liked but haven't had any luck so I broke down and ordered some.

I had the best NSV recently. A guy at the gym asked me how I got my legs so toned. I honestly could not believe he was talking to me. I love that the band has taught me to enjoy exercise and what it has done to my thighs!

ConGrats All, Debbie Gail, i, too hesitated for the same reasons. After pulling the too big clothes out of the closet to make room for the older- smaller stuff- something had to give. It took a few weeks of staring at this pile i was afraid to get rid of before I changed my mind. It will come. To be safe, i save the last size I left and donated the clothing to the YMCA who need clothing for women starting over and needing work clothes. and Good Will. I can sabotage myself really easily but the on-line groups, the local support group, and the exercise help. Keep the Too Big Clothes in a place you will see every day You will get fed up, too. It's just more baggage. My NSV is fitting into slacks 2 sizes smaller than i could April 1st (Don't know when it happened - the scale says I'm the same but..) .

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

Wow-- it has been great reading NSVs from everyone. I haven't been really busy lately. Here are some of my NSVs. 1) My husband did my monthly measurements last night and I was SO happy. Overall since surgery I have lost 32.75 inches. Of course I measure in a bunch of different places so that sounds like a lot more than it is, but when I did the math calculations --- I have lost 11% of my inches since my surgery. 2) My doctors official weight loss since December 10th is 30 pounds, my scale says it is higher (36 pounds) but who is counting? 3) It seems like everyday I am able to find clothes that were too tight and now are loose. The clothing discard pile is growing! 4) I was looking for something in the garage and came across a box of clothes that had been put up for a yard sale and forgotten about. Mostly jeans. I now have about 8 pairs of jeans I can wear. 5) My favorite jacket that I wasn't able to wear for years now fits again. 6) People are noticing. 7) I never noticed that people weren't terribly nice to me but it seems like people are more polite to me now. (So sad how fat people are treated in this country!) 8) It seems like many more men are opening doors for me. Thats all I can think of right now, but these are significant to me. And they sure feel good!

    My first NSV

Congrats on the NSV's. I wish I had some clothes that were to small in my closet but I haven't been small in years, so I guess that's why I don't have any. I've got an NSV to share. My Mom and I went shopping on Saturday normally we are both in the Plus size department, well on Saturday we went to a different Kohls and Macy's than we normally shop in and both times we entered through the Junior Department by accident, so my Mom started saying "you should look at all those nice sundresses over there" which I did and found quite a few items that fit but when I looked around for my Mom's approval on my selection she was gone-she was over in the plus size department. For the first time in about 8 years we actually had to shop in different departments. She was as happy for me as I was for myself. This truly marked a change in my life.
  23. Diddo to everything everyone else said. I hope that statement made sense. I've lost from a 22/24 to a 14/16. I love those NSVs! I think we fixate too much on what we weigh...I'd bet you if you looked at your fat %, it has dropped a lot! I ordered a "fancy" scale from QVC before I was banded. It keeps up with weight, fat %, what is Water weight and all of that for my height and gender...When I see the scale isn't going down - I'll hop on to the "special" section and check out the other. Almost always when I'm up - my water weight is up. The fat % is going steadily down - I've had no gains there., which confirms to me I'm doing everything right. Also, my doctor's office lets us weigh weekly - I go on Thursdays (day of my surgery). They have a print out that shows the same thing. I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks, but my body mass has gone down and my fat% has gone down 2%... Please don't focus just on pounds...that's not the only area we need to be losing. Inches really matter too!
  24. I will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Per my doctors orders I am weighing myself every morning until my next check up on Dec 30. Well today the scale said 274.7 and that is 40.1 lbs lost since 10/21 (surgery was 10/27 only did one week pre op diet)!!! I am just so happy with my progress. My doc told me to be doing two shakes and one small meal a day with no snacking. This is what I have been doing and it has working so well. I have really had no problem doing this, and also getting in all my Water and exercise. My doc has a goal of 260 for me to hit for my Dec 30 appointment and I am so hoping I can make it. I just had to share my excitement and a NSV I had last night, My 15yr old daughter and me were shopping and we went into a store I had never shopped in before.(Torrid) I had gone in and looked around but never found anything that would really fit, Well my daughter had me trying on jeans. YIKES, my least favorite thing to wear (next to a bathing suit LOL). I live in AZ so I am lucky weather wise that I could get away with wearing capris year round. But I did have to have a pair or two just in case the weather drops into the 50's. The pairs I had were 26W and super tight. Last night I walked out with a pair of jean jeggings and boot cut pair in size 22w!! I am just going to keep on doing what I am doing and keep enjoying this journey!!!!
