    Twenties NSVs

Yeah Zuka I am holding off a completely new wardrobe for a while. I am buying a few new clothes though, out of pure necessity! Buuuuuut I have had a few new NSV's... - I work at Costco now and they have no problem sending me out to do carts! When I worked at HEB (a supermarket) they were always worried about me when I went outside for carts. Not anymore! - All my 2X and 3X shirts are WAY too big on me. Like big to where people comment on it. Haha - I'm treated differently everywhere I go. I no longer get the fat person look. -This is a scale victory, no doubt. I'm down over 100 pounds!! Woooohooo!
  2. what a weekend. i don't know WHAT was wrong with me. oh wait. it was probably that i had Snacks in the house to begin with! I could not...or i should say, WOULDN'T stop eating. a handful (or 2) of mini oreos, ice cream (and NOT my normal frozen yogurt that is lower in cals and fat), honey teddy grams, almonds (i'm usually ok with a few at a time a couple times a day....try HANDFULS, ALL DAY). thank goodness they are gone. all of it. i'm sure it still wasn't even CLOSE to what i used to do. I would have finished an unopen bag of any or all of this back before the band. the bags were almost empty, but still, i DON'T snack like that anymore. i know some of it was boredom. Hubby was working evening shift, leaving me home with the kids from 3:30 until i went to bed. i usually have much more control than that though. the good thing is that i'm back to 141 on the scale (but could KICK myself because i probably would be in the 130's had i stayed on track all of the past week!) i'm going to go back on liquids again, like i did to break my cycle of snacking a couple of weeks ago. Protein shakes and Water...for a couple of days. it seems to kick my butt back on plan. NSV- Saturday while working out at curves, a lady asked me if i've been going there a lot. i told her i've been a member for 2 months. She said, no, i mean, you have been coming in working out a lot....days in a week. I said, oh...yes. i TRY to come everyday they are open, if not to workout, but that that is MY TIME to be ALONE (NO KIDS!). she said, it shows....that she sees the difference and that i look great! wow....a stranger noticed! (and what did i do? came home and SNACKED! ARGH! i need to work on using those things as MOTIVATION and not a license to CHEAT!) my magic bullet is calling....time for my shake.
  3. tutornmom, I think that is a great NSV and I'm SURE that's why no loss. I'm on HTC for my BP as well and whenever I forget to take it, I gain 2lbs. Every. Single. Time. I'm hoping to be able to stop mine soon but I'm just now finally keeping it in the normal range with the meds. It's one reason I really started thinking about surgery. With the HTC it was still a little too high. I was looking at more meds soon and just didn't want to go there. I also have major heart/BP history on BOTH sides of my family so I'm probably behind the 8-ball anyway but am doing all I can to at least be healthy as I can be. I am absolutely thrilled for you! I'm in a contemplative mood with my 1 year coming up. It's just amazing to me, this last year. I haven't lost a lot but I am happy to be where I am. Especially when I look at where I was! If I hadn't had surgery, I would've gained. Before surgery I had been playing with the same 4lbs for the better part of a year! I'd be on more BP meds, I could hardly walk with my bone spurs, my back hurt (still does sometimes but it's WAY better!), and on and on and on. Today I turn 41 and without surgery, I would be MISERABLE! Now, I'm excited about how I'm feeling and looking. Just amazing to me. Absolutely amazing!
  4. Tutornmom~ That is a great NSV! I hear ya on losing and regaining the same 15lbs over and over. Isn't it nice to be on a road that will help us with permanent loss! Michelle~ Thanks! I am also hoping that it sticks! Crossing my fingers and praying! It would be nice to lose a few more pounds.
  5. No loss this week. :tongue2: It actually may be connected to the NSV below. NSV better than a loss for me. I am off blood pressure medication at least for 2 weeks. I have been terribly weak and light headed for about a month. I finally decided it must be my BP which had been running around 100/60. I called my doc and my last dose was Thursday. I felt better on Friday but I think maybe taking away the HCT (Water pill) part might be the culprit for no loss. Keep it up! I think it is great that almost one year later we are still committed. Normally in a year, I would have lost and regained the same 15 lbs two or three times. This year I have lost almost 60 lbs that I am CERTAIN I will NEVER regain. Victory is ours!

Nekid happy dance would be dangerous - flopping gals could give me a black eye! Instead I did vacuuming, washed baseboards, sorted all the DVDs alphabetically and color coded the cases (and no, I'm not OCD, I'm neat), and did some touch up painting of a few places where walls were nicked, baked a lovely chicken dish for supper, and just generally puttered. There is always some housework to do - always. I know exactly that feeling - moving from pull-ups to buttons and zips! Great NSV!! It is good! And as for weeding, I wish I could! I love playing in the dirt! Sadly more thunderstorms have kept me inside AGAIN!!!:cursing::tongue2::cursing: Absolutely - he who cooks, shops. Sounds good - sitting by the pool, having a drink or two and being fanned by the spouse. Isn't that how life is supposed to be? OH. Well, that takes some of the fun out of it! Massage - never had one, not going to either. Can't bear the thought of it. Weeding and mowing though sound a lot more fun! Oh G4E - that's so funny! Sick - Feel free to fly me to Atlanta anytime...now, or in the long cold winter months when shoveling snow is the usual past-time! Just watched a fabulous movie - 5 minutes of heaven. Great, but unless you are very good with real Irish accents, you won't enjoy it much! They're second nature to me, so I really enjoyed it, but DH - not so much. Have a great evening all.

Talking about my NSV shorts. While at DS's home I forgot what I was wearing. Well like a child needing to go pee and waits till the last minute. I almost peed myself. When I ran into the restroom I grabbed both sides and went to jerk my shorts down! They wouldn't move!:tongue2: That split second I seen things flashing in my mind. Oh, my DBIL ans DN would have a blast with this one. It would be one Auntie would never live down!:biggrin: Then I started trying to fumble with the button!(note to self..when wearing these shorts make time for potty) Such a strange feeling trying to unbutton something on my stomach! I haven't done that in 31 yrs.

Tap~ Yeah on the sleep! Boo on the raining! It will be 95 here today and we don't have airconditioning, yuck! Lu~ Send hubby this way, someone that loves to cook, my dream! I cook and mow, hmm, something just isn't right with that statement. Throw on some sunscreen, turn on the iPod and mow away! Nothing like a little solitude. G4E~ Button and zip - oh, yeah! Great NSV! Heartfire~ Love The Monkees! Used to watch the show when I was a kid! Oh wait, dating myself! Off to get a massage this morning - decided to treat myself. Then home to do more weeding and mowing, never ending cycle! Last day for step-daughter, she is with her dad all morning, maybe the reason for the trip will be revealed? Have a great one, rain or shine!

  10. I have only been banded for 3 months. I am trying to weigh myself once a month. I have allowed my weight to control how I feel for way too long! I am learning a new relationship with food. NO MORE CRAZY DIETS!!!! :myscared:Can't say that when I reach my goal won't might weigh weekly or even forbid daily. I sure haven't kept to my monthly but this is a new month so will see how I do? Also looking for NSV. Feel of my clothes, healthy food choices, feeling more comfortable in my skin..... The last 3 months I have had a love hate relationship with this band. It is getting better......

I forgot my NSV.... I have a pair of walking shorts that I got from the clothes closet at our LB support group meetings. Any way I have had them about 3 months. Today I thought what the heck and tried them on. They fit and nicely! What makes me so excited is they button and zip! I can't remember the last time I wore anything on my bottom that buttoned and zipped!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

That's awesome Ann! Congrats! Size 16 wow! My NSV is that for the first time in years, I can wear size 18 pants. And I work in the medical field, and was always in size 2x womens scrub pants, well now I can wear the xl! I was happy about that!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Someone else needs to post an NSV, or it's going to look like I'm real thread hog! But, I can't resist posting one more: My bathing suit is getting loose! OMG! I've never had that happen in my life! Oh, and here's an odd thing: I got into a two pairs of 16W pants this week! But... I still can't fit into any size 18 regulars I have. Huh?
  14. Ok so I changed my ticker and made my first goal 30BMI and if that is my goal I am halfway there. I was 179 way back when and a size 12. I don't know if I like this goal for a final goal but I am gonna go with this first and if I get to 180 and don't feel comfortable will just keep setting my goal ten pounds lighter at a time until I get to a weight that feels right for me.........alot higher than i think I want but who knows...........it might work!! It is a starting point!! Went to old navy today and the XXL was to big. I had to get the XL and I can't belive it fit!! It has been years since anything in Old Navy worked.........I have hope in a couple of months that my daughter and I might be able to shop in the same stores and I won't get so bored following her around..........NSV!! Ok I didn't buy anything but excited it fit anyway..........
  15. I took the next step today and joined a gym. It's actually a small program run by the hospital where I had my band done. The people there were great. They even tested my blood sugar for free and it was 106!! The last time I had a fasting sugar profile done was 6/12 and it was 123. AWESOME!!!! Being told I was borderline diebetic is what really pushed me over the edge into making this decision. My brother is diebetic and I feel so sorry for him. He has so much pain in his feet he just can't stand long at all. Doesn't help being an over the road trucker for 30 years either but the diebetes just makes everything worse. I am definately counting 106 as a NSV!:cursing: Otherwise, I can tell the unfill is working much better and I think some of the swelling is gone. I can pretty much drink and feel no pain. I am starting back on full liquids today, had been on clear liquids the last couple of days other than protein drink, so I tried some blended soup. I hope it was ok. It was probably too spicy though so will definately take my Nexium tonight:frown: HAHA I just realized I put in a purple frown for my purple pill. I am so hoping to get off my two meds that I am on!! Kept busy today and the day went much faster. The down side to the unfill is that now I am actually getting hungry. My DH actually made pizza last night. I had to leave the room!!!!! But I didn't eat any. Yeah, me! 6 more days until mushies. Can't wait!!

YAY! BBK is back! Keep posting - even if only once a day (unlike those of use who are addicted and post a zillion times). Absolutely! YAY for NSVs. That's a great idea! Pain in the proverbial to do it, but an excellent approach to non-confrontational validation! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! Hence, why I won't go there! That and too much information is asked for so that it could possibly identify me. HELLO, hello...hello...hellooooo (echo echo) Ohhh, Ricky! Can I PLEASE be in the show? Hi Susan! Nothing like being supportive!:drool:

    My first big NSV!

Congratulations...thanks for sharing. I love reading about NSV:)
  19. Only us plus-size folks can understand the excitement around my shopping trip today. I need a dress for an upcoming event and dreaded shopping for one. I tried on several 1X dresses that felt just a little too loose so I figured...what the heck. I ventured into the "normal size" section of Macys never imagining that one would actually fit me. So I was completely shocked that an XL fit and looked good on me. I can't wait until I'm out of the plus-size section for good!

Oh, PJTP - NSV for me and my DD that I wanna share: Me: DH said today, THAT SHIRT'S TOO BIG FOR YOU! (yay...it was one that I didn't wear 2 years ago because my fat tummy hung out of it.) For DD - her scale isn't moving, BUT, she has ...lemme look it up again...acanthosis nigricans. (I never remember that name.) When her blood sugar is elevated, (but not high enough for diabetes - yet) it causes a dark thick ring of skin around her neck. So, we've been dieting and exercising and that dark ring is fading! I pointed that out to her yesterday and she was sooo happy over it! So, little NSV's getcha through, you know?

    Twenties NSVs

ok so this NSV isnt' like the usual ones you read about. kinda bitter sweet. Back in Dec i bough a new wardrobe at Torrid, and it wasn't cheap. i was so excited because i was in all the smaller sizes. flash forward to feb none of those fit. had to buy new going out and work clothes. again very excited to buy new clothes in smaller sizes so i spared no expense. Flash forward to now. had to buy more clothes. it's crazy!!! about every 3 months i change a size. don't get me wrong. i am wayyyyy excited. but today i was looking at my pile of new clothes i had bought since dec (some with tags still on them) and i added it up in my head. Hundreds of dollars!!!!! Again not complaining. i am super excited about my weight loss. just be prepared and dont go on a shopping spree the first time you go down a size  Happy to report i'm a size 12, and very very happy with my weight loss.

    Twenties NSVs

I went shopping yesterday (see my blog for an extremely long entry about it) but ended up buying two pairs of jeans at American Eagle in size 14. That fit SO well - and comfortably. It's crazy to think that when I went out to dinner last night, in my size 14 jeans, my XL jcrew tee, even my now 38dd bra - I was wearing all "normal" sized clothes. No longer will I be relegated to buying my american eagle and vic's secret online. a HUGE nsv!
