Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

(((Ezma))) Sometimes words just aren't enough. Hang in there. It's going to be tough, but you're a tough lady. You just need time. Tap, you definitely need a better motivator when it comes to the workouts. I LOVE to workout, but even *I* got burnt out on the same routine after awhile. I didn't even realize it. I felt no motivation whatsoever, but since I bought my new elliptical, shoes and WW Online to promotoe workouts (you gain extra eating points for busting your buns :sneaky:) I have a renewed energy. I'm really kicking it back into gear! TG I didn't think I'd ever get this back. I'm so happy! Lori, you've done so great to be in the 150's!! My goal is (well based on my BMI whatever) is 155. I doubt I'll ever breathe down the 150's though!! I think a more attainable goal for myself is 170. I just like the way I look heavier. I guess what I'm saying is... look how far you have come. From your pics I think you look totally awesome. As long as you are comfortable with yourself, don't be down on the fact your (as you say) only in the 150's. I'd dream to be there!! LOL As for myself, well I'm back at it again. New journaling system, a-la Weight Watchers Online. It's working fantastic for me. Today is day three. Day one I didn't even go over my points and into my "weekly points". In fact I used one less! How's that for willpower??? Day two (yesterday) I indulged some with ice cream. It was DELICIOUS! I used some of my weekly points for that, as I did have a pretty decent dinner. Not anything totally health conscious, but I expected it. The thing I need to get over mostly is my feelings of guilt. I mean, I stayed well within plan, and should not feel bad for wanting and eating that ice cream. I should remember that before, I would eat that whole 4 serving size of B&J before. Last night I only ate 1. YES ONE!! What an NSV for me. I'm stoked! Best wishes VV's!

    Twenties NSVs

I've had an unexpected but wonderful NSV lately. My skin, hair and nails have never looked better! I've spent litterally hundreds...if not thousands...of dollars on shampoo and face washes due to my super oily skin/hair but after my band and adopting my new high protein, low...well, everything else...diet, my hair is nice and soft and shiny but not oily! and my face no longer looks like a grease slick. Plus my nails grow and stay that way instead of chipping off down to nothing. Thank you protein! Love my band!

    How is everyone doing?

Feeling good, 25 pounds gone FOREVER already!! I had my first fill 7/30, 2cc's. No restriction yet. NSV = 6 inches from my waist already!!!

    Twenties NSVs

@Laurr925: I'm sorry you gained +10lbs when you had that 1cc removed, but that was after a -17lbs loss from dehydration and such. It was probably just your body returning to its current homeostasis. Sounds like the ex(?)fling is able to see just how svelte you're getting, even if you yourself are not enjoying the numbers as much as you'd like. I'm excited for you! I can't wait to hit 220, but right now, my latest baby-goal is 240. My Own NSVs: 1. I pulled on my Lane Bryant Red-Triangle Size-5 jeans (idk what that translates to) and they were so friggin loose. I wore 'em anyway cos I'm bloated this week (TOM) and barely made it down the first aisle at the grocery store before I had to pull 'em back up so I didn't look like a white-girl-wannabe-thug, lol! 2. When I pulled up at the grocery store mentioned in #2, I looked over at the car next to me. Two guys were sitting in there, their window down, and they turned over and looked at me. And then continued to watch as I walked into the store. (Too bad I wasn't wearing my "daaaamn that's a nice ass" jeans, but whatevs!) I stood in the frozen foods section, texting a friend about a song playing on the radio, when those same two guys walked down my aisle, strolled past, and turned their heads as they walked by me. It was bizarre. They didn't even buy anything! O.o Idk, I refuse to believe they were checking me out, bc I looked like a bum, but maybe they were. Either way, it felt good to be noticed.

That is the pits! Summer? Where is summer? I hope that is no indicator of what kind of winter you are going to be in for! Yeah on the NSV! I don't need a reduction, but I would love an enhancement Busy week! Yeah for your mom - have a great walk on Sunday! I love your life! Send the hotties this way!!! Woo hoo, over here! What she said! (((hugs))) I hope that new job comes your way - you deserve to be treated better!

Fanny, your in the 70's in the middle of winter! How cool is that! Happy Bandaversary KT! Ebony, congrats on the NSV. I love NSVs:wub: Good morning everyone. Hope you are all doing well! I love antiques also. My parents loved antiquing. Dad would refurbish wood antiques. I have a table that he redone. The chairs have pretty much all gone. I have 5 chairs left and 3 are usable. It originally had 8. I have a china hutch that dates from the 1800s that was my parents. I have some butter dishes and Black Amethyst vases. I have a child's wooden ironing board that my grandfather made my mom when she was 3. It is signed and dated. (but it is fading) It is 83 yrs. old. It folds and unfolds just like a regular ironing board. I have some antique dolls. My favorite I have had since I was 6. She is a Suzy doll. She is worth $400.00. (she was appraised at a antique road show type deal.) If I had her shoes and her dress was in better shape she would be worth more. She was given to me when freinds of the family bought a house and there were toys there. They gave them to me. My kids laugh at me when we go yard saleing or to the flee markets because of the antiques. They think I am like a kid in a candy shop. Everyone have a blessed day

PJTP...Morning All! It's a bright sunny morning and I feel great! Did my morning wog with DH and DDog this morning and after I warmed up, I felt really strong...beat him on the last block sprint and wasn't breathing as hard as Monday. Funny what a couple of days can do...we wog on MWF and I walk T Th S Sun. I'm following the c25k program. NSV - put on a dress that I bought two months ago and couldn't wear "well". I could put it on, but it pulled in unattractive ways. Partly because while my lower body is slimming down, my boobs haven't gone much of anywhere...now I really notice how big they still are compared to the rest of me. That's why I still buy size 18's - my bottom half is a 16, top half needs an 18 still. Today, the dress fits MUCH better - still can't wear the belt (it lands right up under the 'girls')...but I'm happy it fits better! Looking more and more like a breast reduction / enhancement is in my future...I have my monthly lap band support group meeting tonight - missed the past two months, so I'm glad to be going back. Everyone have a wonderful day!
  9. Thanks to everyone for their support and advice. I am constantly learning things about myself and my habits as I go through this process. One early learning was that I am compelled to finish what is on my plate. Somehow I just can't leave food that is available. So I bought small bowls that are just the right portion size and that helped there. The other learning is that I like the feeling of having a full mouth. So these little bites just don't yet provide the satisfaction I need with eating. But they will have to eventually. But I had a NSV today. A month before the surgery we went away to Italy to Celebrate my 50th birthday. I needed to buy some bigger clothes to feel comfortable on the trip. Today I tried them on and I cannot be seen in public with them or they will fall off my tuch. Yippee!

First day back to work and an NSV!!!!

Today was my first day back after having surgery on 7/22/09. I am a wage continued employee which means that I continue to receive my full salary whether or not I'm there, so I took ten days to recoup. Since that's what my doctor told me would be a good amount of time considering the type of work that I do. I'm glad I listened I'm BEAT!! I had every intention of going to the gym today after work, but there is just no way. I'll go for my two mile walk after it cools down a bit. Work was good now time for the NSV!! Hot Greg NOTICED I had lost weight and told me that I was looking good!!! Yea!!!!! Me!!! :sneaky::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::tt1::thumbup: and I was able to completely slip my size 16 work pants down over my hips without undoing the buttons or zipper...time to go SHOPPING!!! I have a feeling it's going to be my new addiction...shopping! That's all the energy I have for the moment. I'm going to take a much needed nap!

  12. I thought I'd put up this post to see what co-morbidities people have been relieved of since their surgery. As for me, I had compartmental syndrome (issue where my fascia on my calves would squish my muscle if I ran (b/c muscle would want to expand, but there wasn't enough room) such that my nerves would get pinched and my circulation would get cut off. Now that I'm 50+ pounds down, I don't have any problem with this at all. In fact, tonight, I ran 3 miles on the treadmill without stopping or slowing to a walk, and all was just fine! What a major NSV!! I had been worried that if someone was ever chasing me that I wouldn't be able to run to safety! But now, that problem has completely disappeared! Thank you, Band!! Catherine
  13. OK, met yesterday with a rep. from Ameran UE. He conceeded that MAYBE the trimmers could have left a few of the branches but overall they did what they had to do to accomplish their objective of keeping the power on and the lines up. He left off the part where they are trimming so brutally because they don't want to come back for another 6 years! I recommended they rethink their long range plan! Anyway, by the time he left he said he would talk with the engineers about burying a short section of line that goes through the middle of our trees. He said he couldn't promise anything. Really?? At least he said he would try. So for the next week, I will wait patiently and then go to my next plan of action. I'm not going down quietly on this one! Now, for a NSV!!!! My husband and I are going to a bar tonight. I was fretting about having nothing to wear when I remembered some shirts I had stuck away in the closet that I haven't been able to wear for 2 years. I dug them out and, WHEEEEEEE, 2 of them fit! 2 others are still a little snug so I put them back for a few more weeks but, WHEEEEEE, I now have a nice shirt to wear tonight!! Feels so good!!

Vegas and Bearded, I had wondered about the nudist group. I love swimming naked-just not a lot of that going on here(at least publically) in the buckle of the bible belt. I might have to try that out when I feel more comfortable about my body-maybe I will put that on my NSV list of goals. Tats are Snoopy and Woodstock and Pooh and Tigger-got them in my teen years. Will do others as I find the p:001_cool:erfect tat.
  16. Tomorrow starts the one year mark for many of us! I hope everyone has had a great year, enjoyed your NSVs as well as your weight loss! Good luck in the coming year! Last week: 189 This week: 188 Down 1lb and I am sooo happy, the scale seems to be moving after that really long plateau!:crying:
  17. I did a search in the "Twenties" subforum for "rewards" and came up with nothing. Figured I'd start a thread to collect all of the rewards we buy ourselves for our weight-loss, exercise goals, and NSVs. What kinds of things have you already earned as a reward for your hard work and/or what are some of the things you're working toward?

    Non Scale Victories!

I had my first NSV when I was able to put my wedding rings back on. I hadn't been able to wear them for close to two years. I was looking in my jewelry box and saw them. Thought what the heck and tried them on. THEY FIT!! I was so excited.
  20. I'm down just 21 pounds & already people are noticing. Just the other day my FIL asked me how much I've lost and after I told him he said "you can definitely tell it!" He never comments on things like this. Then yesterday at my Dad's house, my step-mom asked me the same question & said the same thing my FIL said! I still can't really tell I've lost 21 pounds. I guess it's because I still see me as 201 pounds.

Good morning all....Man y'all have been busy! I will do what I can remember and sorry to anyone I miss. (I have senior moments):juggle: Kat...sorry about the twins. But I can understand your feelings being in a similar situation with my ex. So I am glad that you have let go of the guilt. I still deal with my guilt at times because I thought about abortion. Kat...your neighbors are very blessed to have you and your hubby to be there for them. Lu..your friends are also very blessed to have you and your hubby helping them in there time of need. How is your friend's hubby doing or do you know yet? Haven't don the ghetto thing yet. Will have to. YAY! I now have a new song stuck in my head to sing at work. CLAP CLAP Great NSV Ebony! Lots of class hrs. Good luck with it Beth. Glou..hopefully no more layoffs. prayers are going out to everyone laid off lately. Everyone have a blessed day:thumbup:

*Lu and KC, your recipes sound wonderful! *Lu, your friend definitely needs the rest then. More wine for you! :juggle: *KC, I'm sorry you missed the deadline for the burger contest! Pay attention Girl!! LOL! *Ebony, congrats on the NSVs and compliments! So nice and helps with the motivation! Continued prayers with the job scene! My problem with DD is that she thinks that b/c she sees the big kids do it, she can too! Yikes! She's not normally shy at all. She waits and gets a lay of the land, then finds a spot and jumps right in. Unlike her mama, who has a hard time socially and would rather not be noticed much! *Glouc, it sounds like you got thru work fairly unscathed (except for your friend :tt2:). Are they doing more of this tomorrow? I sure hope they're done now! *Beth, I think it's great that you're just going for it with school. You and Ebony are my heros! *Football - love it! (GO STEELERS!) Actually wished I could've played as a kid! Watch some collage ball too as we have a sort of decent local team. We also watch a lot of soccer. DH has played since he was 5yrs old! I used to be totally in to Ice Hockey but when they went on strike, it ticked me off and I haven't been able to get back into it again. Oh look! All the sports I watch (or used too) are kinda violent! Does that mean anything? LOL! *Glasses - damn bill was $360 after all was said and done! That includes the co-pays for DH too. And that's after insurance! UGH! Most of that was for the dumb sunglasses! I wish I could've just done some transitions lenses or clip-ons but my eyes are so sensitive that she's actually using 2 different darkly tinted lenses together to get me the darkness that I need! Ridiculous! I have a hard time finding sunglasses that are dark enough and they need to be large to cover my entire eye area. NUTS! *Quiz - sounds like fun but I don't FB so I won't be able to find out if I'm Ghetto or not! Bummer! My life may not be complete without knowing! LOL! PJTP: Made another great dinner tonight. This one I didn't have to CHEW forever before swallowing! No tired jaw tonight! LOL! This chicken dish is a keeper and I can't wait to eat the leftovers! Usually I can eat 'em or leave 'em but not this time. I was actually irritated that I've got good restriction b/c I could only eat a small piece! LOL! I wanted MORE! A good week for making dinner! Sometimes, not so much! Comes from liking to experiment. Next week I'm trying a new eggplant recipe. We'll be getting an eggplant in our farm box! I'd probably save us a bunch of money if I'd stop buying so many food mags! Paper too from the printing off of recipes from the internet! I've got stacks of magazines, printed recipes and cookbooks! I'm kind of on a Mexican food kick right now, so I bought a cookbook! Of course! :huh2: Supplements all went down a little hard this AM so I'll start taking them about lunch instead. I'm pretty tight but I don't think I'm too tight. I'm just not used to having to pay so much attention to everything! Having a hard time getting my water in too. Need to drink A LOT slower now and not used to it! DD doesn't know it yet but my mom and I are going to try to get her a pony ride this weekend! There is this "Funderland" place in Sacramento and there are pony rides outside. I haven't told her and I'm going to tell my mom not to either in case they aren't there on Saturday for some reason. She want's to ride a "big horse" so bad! I don't think she realizes how big, "big horses" are so we'll start with a pony first! If that goes over well, my mom is going to set up another time for us to go trail riding at a stable she goes to. DD will ride with her for that one. I haven't been on a horse in over 20 yrs so talk about rusty! LOL! Weather is supposed to get cooler this weekend. FINALLY! The last 2 nights we didn't even bother to open up the house. Just set the AC to 78, put the bedroom fan on and went to bed. Near midnight and it'd still be 80 outside! Yuck! It's 9:30 and it's already 79 outside! Big change from the last couple of nights. Have a great night y'all! TTFN!

PJTP...Hi y'all! I'm normally not on this late, but I just finished one of my online classes (Business Math - not too bad) and the computer was still up, so... Did my "wog" tonight - was trying to beat the predicted thunderstorms and get it in - went farther on each run than when I started last week, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. Liking the way I look in running togs - and NSV - my across the street neighbor asked me if I was "done" losing weight. I told her proudly (meaning - yelled across the street) that I was only halfway there and still had more to go. She complimented me again and told me the entire family had noticed.:juggle::biggrin: Football fans - I feel ya! My DH is a rabid fan - I'm a fan, but not quite as rabid. Every Sunday night and Monday night, the tv is his - don't interrupt unless you place NO VALUE on your life. It's okay though - I usually only have to shush him if I've got a class or something... KC - I took the "Ghetto" quiz - too funny - it was a few days ago - I think it said I would survive in the Ghetto...I was :tt2: Slim - hope the recipes help - putting greek yogurt in the mashed potatoes to boost the protein content sounds wonderful...will try that one soon! Heartfire - so glad your DD is enjoying swim class. I used to teach swimming to little ones, and once we got them over their initial shyness, they took to it well. I miss that part of it... Finally going to bed...'night all! :huh2:
