  1. I am now 5 months from surgery. I've had horrible food aversions but some of that is easing. I can now eat bacon again. Before, it was disgusting. The same can be said of a few other foods. I'd love to be able to tolerate chicken but it's still off the menu. I am taking tasteless GENEPRO twice a day, 60 grams to keep my protien up and it is giving me some strength back. Also, I've switched to a 1 a day bariatric vitamin. Weight loss as of now is 118 pounds and my goal is 210 pounds. Hope this encourages some who are struggling. Stick with it.

Water 12oz lunch is 1/3C turkey breast, 2tbs stuffing and 1 TBS gravy and 1 tsp cranberry Water 12oz Snack: juice with 1 serving GENEPRO Protein Powder (1/2 apple, 1/2 orange, 1 small beet and 1/4 bunch of parsley mixed with 1C water) Water 12oz Dinner: will probably be either turkey same as lunch... July 2021 Surgery People!

Congratulations on losing 20 pounds. 16 to go is so close! From what I read and what my doctor's office said, the first 6 months of weight loss is the biggest & then it starts slowing down, especially as you get closer to goal/healthier weight. People can lose beyond that first year, but it seems to be harder. I'm sure gaining it back is easy to do if old habits return. I have been adding genepro (unflavored protein powder) to my yogurt or to iced coffee to help reach my daily protein goals. I understand it can be hard to get it all in. I think your idea of adding it to your soup & yogurt is a great way to get protein in if you are having difficulty. Maybe start with 1/2 serving added to a beverage or liquid/mushy food (soup & yogurt, as you said)? (I mix it with a little room temp water before adding it to hot or cold beverages & then slowly incorporate it) The hairloss gets better. Mine is coming back in, so I have all these shorter hairs mixed in with my long ones. Wishing you luck in losing the 16 pounds & maintaining your loss.

    OCTOBER 2014

Best dinner ever, I made some chicken stock and placed in the freezer for after surgery. It is, of course, delicious homemade stock. I had one single smallish potato cubed and boiled for 30 minutes. Had to search for a pot to place my tiny potato and found one so small I don't think I have ever used before. It came with a set, so there it was. I added enough broth to wisk the whole thing into yogurt consistency. That's a lot runnier then regular mashies. I also added 1/2 a scoop of unflavored GENEPRO Protein (15 gr). One scoop of their protein is like a tablespoon. It's not much at all. OMG, I am in love and my pouch loved it. I want to eat that forever. Warm, yummy deliciousness. I think I need to buy some smaller bowls. My 1/2 cup of mashies looked ridiculous in our regular cereal/soup bowls.

    OCTOBER 2014

I haven't started tracking my calories yet. I do get in 1 Protein Drink a day of the GENEPRO, my nut says that's enough. Plus I get in at least 32 oz of liquids. I try for 64 but it doesn't always happen. I don't wait a whole hour after eating. I wait about 30-45 minutes depending on how I'm feeling. At work its hard to get in all my fluids, I do try though. And I had to switch up my Vitamins so I can get them all in. I take all but my Calcium before work, then on my 2 breaks that are usually 3 hours apart I take my calcium. It's working so far.

    Lap-Band Buddies!

I got and tried a protein supplement, Genepro, which I read about here. It mixes with cold and hot liquids and is tasteless. So I put it in coffee this AM but kind of plopped it in and it had small clumps. Retried this afternoon, stirring while I added it to the decaf coffee and magic! It dissolved completely and was tasteless. 1 scoop has 98 cal, .5 fat and 30 Gm protein!! It kept me from feeling hungry I got it on amazon. Kristi

    Isopure experience?

I have genepro and it says 30g per “scoop” ....there is clearly a sticker over the old label! 😳 that does make me nervous now... I should clarify what I’m asking about is the Isopure clear liquid drinks. They say 40g per bottle whereas premier clear says 20g

    Calling all June '16 sleevers!

I use genepro so I don't have protein liquid to include. I'm dragging but keep praying it gets better. Friday I'm going to Virginia and I'm petrified that I'll become dehydrated, 7 hours from home! Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App
  11. I didn't have to give up coffee pre-op, and my lovely PCA pump with morphine took care of any withdrawal headache I might have had post-op. I gave it up for about a month afterward, to give my stomach some healing time. Now, I drink 1-2 cups in the morning, with a GENEPRO, Fairlife milk and half and half concoction and some monkfruit sweetener.
  12. I'm 4.5 months out and I have to tell you, everything was harder at the beginning. I found it nearly impossible to get in all my Protein in in the first 2 weeks. I talked to my doctor at that time and he told me to concentrate on staying hydrated more than getting the protein in. Yes, I hit a wall on the third week, with a lack of energy, but it was too difficult to get the required amount of protein when you can eat so little at the beginning. It will get easier soon, so concentrate on getting enough Water for now. Also, I had the best luck with GENEPRO. It is as tasteless as I have found. It doesn't mix well in water, but blends in nearly undetectable in most other products. Finally, while i was still in the hospital, I was given liquid Prosource. I bought that on amazon when I got home bc that was the easiest way for me to get protein. I just added it to my water with a crystal light mix and it wasn't too bad. I think it was 15g of protein per 1 tbsp. Hope that helps. Lots of luck!!

    So ready!

And completely excited! Surgery is Jan 17! I start my pre op diet Saturday which consists of 4 Protein shakes and for dinner chicken breast and veggies. I feel completely prepared. I have every kind of protein I need. Premier shakes in 4 flavors, GENEPRO powder, unjury chicken flavored powder, 3 flavors of Quest powder, the sample packets of nectar and a tub of unflavored Nectar. I have the things I will need on a bookcase so i don't have to bend or reach. Got my freezer full of stuff my son can have for dinners plus tons of Snacks for him. I have a woman from a local organization who will come check on me for the first couple days. Filled all my prescriptions and picked up a months supply of Vitamins and that antibacterial stuff you have to wash with. All that's left is wash the sheets and blankets and scrub the bathrooms! I'm ready to go!!! Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App

    Late December Sleevers?

I got mine at GNC called Genepro

    No Flavor Protein Powder

I LOVE Genepro! It's the only Protein I've tried that is really flavorless. It's the only one I've used for the last two months and the same with my friend who just had her blood work done and all came back great! I will be having blood work the end of December myself and will be glad to post the results. It has no whey taste and you can mix it with hot liquids. It was also approved by my NUT and surgeon. You can also buy it from the website Musclegen Research. Best of luck, Carol

    No Flavor Protein Powder

Orionova, do you have a reference for your claim? Genepro was recommended to me by my NUT, and it is highly absorbable because it is a peptide. If there is something out there to the contrary, I would like to read up on it.

Can I increase my protein this way?

My nutritionist suggested doing this if we were struggling. I've found that GENEPRO in broth is the best way for me to get my Protein in - 30g of protein in 4 oz of broth is definitely doable a few times per day.
  21. I personally don't like the Syntrax nectars. There's a weird aftertaste or it makes the Water have a weird quality to it... I can't handle it. I think you should just try out different things until you find something that works! I had to try out several different powders before settling on GENEPRO. You can get samples of everything at GNC, and everything is heavily reviewed on Amazon. Another thing you can experiment with is mixing powders into different foods. I can mix Genepro into yogurt, pudding, even Beans and cheese and it tastes good! You can mix it into soup, tea, coffee, anything that has cheese in it, or that would taste good if it had milk in it. I think you can do the same with unjury as well. The thing that I liked more about genepro was that it was slightly more tolerant of warmer temperatures (not too hot though!) and there was more Protein in a smaller serving. Our lifestyle change is hard, and it's going to take a little bit of experimentation to figure out what works.

    Unjury vs Genepro?

I do use GENEPRO.......and like Franks Red hot......."I put that **** on everything". It seems to be the most tasteless and dissolves the best with the least or no clumps. Oh, and here is a tidbit on human nature. Given time, we have the ability to adapt to almost anything. Over the last couple of years, I have used various Protein drinks and for the life of me I can't understand WHY, in this day and age they can't make the stuff taste better. It's all horrible. B-u-t........The few that i have settled on using......well .....let's just say that continuing to consume them over & over & over & over & over .....(you get the idea) they do grauually get more bearable. Some I even look forward to .......Ok see, I went too far there. I had you till I said "look forward". Anyway.....just grin a bear it .....visualize starving on "Naked and Afraid" and the alternative is a bug

    Unjury vs Genepro?

Thanks all. I'm mostly concerned about which has the better taste, or actually which is the most tasteless. My NUT recommends either and several people from my program have used GENEPRO with good bloodwork results. I really like the unjury chocolate flavors. They seem to have the thin consistency that I prefer. I was mostly put off by the quantity of the unflavored Unjury that I needed to blend in.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

This is one egg , 1/2 Genepro protein powder, a handful of baby spinach, and a tbsp mozzarella cheese. The protein powder really fluffs up the egg. 148 calories and 25 g of protein. I ate it all except for a few bites.

Do you mix the Genepro with water first to dissolve it ? Or just put it in the liquid egg? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
