Stinking stall

You are right on the edge of the 3 week stall. Most people have this happen. You can search it on here. There are few that don't go through it.
3. @@snokb04 You are hitting a 3 week stall. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/ You really can't compare weight loss of others. There's so much to consider - and what you consider "slow" is really not all that slow. 16 lbs in 3 weeks - that's great! Don't be discouraged! Be sure to meet your Protein goals and Water goals and exercise and you will be successful! From your stats - you've already lost before surgery and that plays alot into how much you lose after surgery as well.
4. It's the 3 week stall that everyone goes through. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Stay hydrated, eat your protien and let it pass. This won't be your last stall, either, but a stall this early out is a physiological thing that happens to everyone after large losses the first weeks. Stalls later out are probably more behaviors causing them. So at this time, just keep doing what you're doing and it will pass.

Stalling at week 3

Youtube has many types of exercise videos on it. from zumba to yoga. I am 38 days out and still in 3 week stall but staying positive and exercising at the gym

So upset... 2wks out

I agree, 9 lbs is great! I'm 11 days out and have lost 6 lbs, so you are doing better than me. Don't stress about it or it will slow down. Weigh ins only once per week if you have a hard time mentally. And the 3 week stall is yet to come... Take your measurements if you haven't already, it will usually show a loss even when your scale doesn't. Nilla

Any Long Island Ny Vsg Buddies?

Hey Dee I'm not in Long Island, but I'm close. I'm in Brooklyn, so only a train ride away! I'm sorry to hear that you are in a stall HOWEVER, you are what, 3 weeks out??? Guess what? That is the dreaded 3 week stall that pretty much EVERYONE goes through! It is just your body going on pause to sort through everything that is going on. You are doing great so far! As for the rash, I am definitely not a doctor, but is it around your incisions and the tape? I had a reaction to the tape. That wouldn't explain your back though. Just call your surgeon's office and ask. I had to do that for a few things and they are always very nice and understanding about everything. If you want to meet up one day, just pm me and maybe I can help some more in person ((hugs)) You are doing great, keep up the amazing work and don't worry about the stall!

Fruits and Veggies?

Thank you for the comments. I have been in a 3 week stall, and have to wonder if it is the fruits and veggies. Not sure. I agree that they are nutritious so it is hard for me to believe I need to cut them out. I am experimenting and will see what happens.

3 week stall

@@Mgenovesejr -The 3 week stall is not uncommon. If you do a search on it, loads of post will come up. I think they tend to happen more frequently with the less you have to lose. I started at a pretty high BMI so I've never personally experienced one. However I also only weigh myself monthly or when I go to the doctor's, whichever comes first. Every time I have set foot on a scale I have seen a loss of some sort. It is entirely possible that because I only weigh monthly I may have experienced a stall and missed it.

How is everyone

Hi, everyone, sleeved on 6/26/17. I count all the weight I have lost since my surgical consult, so down from 357 to 272 and very happy with it. I had a 3 week stall at 300lbs, talked to my NUT and started tracking everything, and increased calories to at least 600 per day and came out of the stall. I now weigh or measure everything I put in my mouth, and per her advice shoot for between 600-700 calories per day, no more than 50 gm carbs, no more than 30 gm fat and between 60-70 gm protein per day. I don't let myself weigh every day because it fluctuates or stalls for 2 or 3 days at a time and then drops.....that drives me crazy, so only once a week for me. I am losing between 2.5-3.5lbs per week, and am very happy. 5FT 6IN 56 YRS YOUNG HW384 CONSULT WT 357 SW326 CW 272 (that mess above is supposed to be my ticker, lol)

Stall

I think i have hit the famous 3 week stall. I am 3 weeks out today and I have not lost anything in the past 3 days. I was losing 1 to 2 pounds everyday. Time to ignore the scale, right. Put it away for a while. I did start goin to the gym this week. Doin cardio only for right now. I guess I should take measurements and see if those move. Should have done that anyway. Guess nothing to do but hang in there and it will pass.

Am I eating too much?

You are at the famous 3 week stall. About 3 weeks post ops folks go into this stall were they either stop losing or some even gain a pound or 2. Your body is trying to play catch up from on the drastic changes it has had. I nearly lost my mind during this stall because it did not make since to me. I was only eating 500-600calories " how can I not lose weight". All though I research and read that others experience this stall it still was hard to take. Just keep tracking, exercising, and drinking. You will get through it. As far as the 8 oz of yogurt goes... I would measure it just so you don't stretch things. I hope this helps.
13. I know people talk about stalls, and that they're a normal part of the process and I've heard about the dreaded '3 week stall' but I'm only 2 weeks post op (yesterday) and although I have lost weight since pre-op and surgey, the scale hasn't budged in 5 days. In fact, I gained a pound. I've just been on clear liquids... so what gives??!!? feeling pretty bummed.

Stall at week 3?

I thought I was immune to the 3 week stall.... kept on losing until I hit my 2nd month and then stalled out for almost the entire month and lost only 3 lbs. The good news is that you just keep on your path and hopefully you will get to the finish line in the end. I'm down 105 lbs and have 25lbs to get to goal. 1 year ago I needed to lose 130 lbs. My mind now focuses on the 25 lbs because it sounds so much more doable and sounds like what a "normal" person needs to lose. Even with all the stalls, the frustration of losing slowly, the feeling like everyone else loses faster than me.... I wouldn't change a thing!

Lower Abdominal Pain

Thanks for the feedback! You're gonna laugh, but I took some Mylanta Gas after supper and have felt TONS better!!! And I've read about the dreaded 3 week stall, so I feel much better about the situation. I'm still going to try to get into my doc this week rather than next. Also, the location of the pain wold be around my ovaries, but the pain is not cramp-like. Doesn't feel like a woman issue. And I'm on YAZ so I rarely have periods. I have three more pink pills before I start my white pills this month. So we will see if I'm better tomorrow! Louisville, KY ~ RNY June 24, 2013 ~ Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

Beginning week 3

Thanks everybody, I hadn't heard about the 3 week stall. This makes me feel better. Whew. Just have to wait it out I guess.... Lisa
17. I'm 10 weeks post op & I've stalled. For a week now. It's so frustrating. I've stepped up my exercise and even decreased my food intake. I did not go through the 3 week stall. This is my first time. I'm about to go back to a liquid diet for a bit. Any help or suggestions. Thank you ????????

Frustrated...

I'm 3 weeks out and still have water weight and swelling. So, I don't know your particular situation but I know we all lose at different rates. Also, I have heard of many folks hitting a 3 week stall. Wish I had something to offer as advice. Just hang in there and do what you know is right and it will kick in soon.
19. I am a month post op. I am a revision from sleeve to RNY. The first week I lost 18 pounds. Absolutely nothing since. I have actually gained 2 pounds of that back with no reason to. I am now on regular foods and do everything I can to get Protein in with foods. I cannot drink the shakes because they make me sick. I have given up everything as I needed to. I eat chicken, fish, Beans, Greek yogurt, turkey, vegetables and little fruits. I drink Water only. I feel like this has failed me. I feel like I am doing everything I am supposed to. This is a true 3 week stall after only being a month out. I have measured and my measurements haven't changed during this time either. With a 2 pound gain. Help!!! 20. Don't panic, your body is just adjusting to the new regime and there is such a thing as the 3 week stall - which you have now experienced! Best advice is to stick with your plan - Protein, sipping and moving - and your weight loss will keep going. It's not necessarily going to be huge amounts on a weekly basis but over a month you will probably lose a good amount. But for now, don't lose hope, you're not failing and you're not going to. Hang in there, there are lots of us who are ahead of you who have been through exactly what you're going through and we succeeded. So you will you :-))))

Stalled and stuck

I'm sorry you are having a rough time. Stay on top of your Surgeon, bug them if you need to, in case they have to repair the stomach issue. Though it is possible it might just be from swelling too I assume. As for being stalled it could be a number of factors. 1) the normal 3 week stall could be effecting your weight loss 2) it might be the lack of calories your consuming. The lower the calories I intake the worse my weightloss is and 3) it could be dehydration.
23. Hello Everyone! Ok, so I'm 3 weeks post op (surgery was on May 27th) and seem to have hit the 3 week stall a bit earlier. The scale has barely moved during the last week, plus I got back to work last Monday and it's harder to tackle old habits and anxiety here. I've handled it quite well and stuck to my nutritionist's guidelines, though it's VERY hard to eat more than 30 grams of protein at lunch and dinner. She recommended 60 grams on those meals, but since I wasn't able to do it I should add an egg white during the afternoon to get a good protein intake. I'm also having a hard time understanding my body. One bite over capacity and I'll be rushing to the bathroom to vomit (or try to), and since that varies with the type and consistency of the food I still don't understand when I'm getting there. Trying to pace myself during meals to avoid that feeling. So, adding all these, I'm getting a bit frustrated. I know this will pass, but still, I need more coping mechanisms for my anxiety. I appreciate any tips or positive comments to remind me that this is definitely not the easy way out! Cheers!

3 wk post op

Maybe you are at the dreaded 3 week stall period? I haven't got that far but others have said that is around the time for a stall.
25. I had my VSG on June 28th. I had lost 37 pounds preop from the first week of March. In the first two-three weeks after surgery I lost 17 pounds. For the last 11 days I have been stalled, and actually went up a couple of pounds. I have read all about the 3 week stall and I knew to expect it. I know scientifically why it is happening. I am usually a calm, patient person. But this is starting to drive me nuts! I find myself doubting having the whole procedure. I wonder if this whole thing won't work. It irritates me that I lost all of the weight preop doing low carb with lots more calories and big portions and now I am not losing with this extreme diet. I am sticking to plan, getting in the fluids, getting about 80 grams of protein, usually around 40 carbs, 700-800 calories. I am still on the mushies stage for a few more days. I guess I need to know that other people have had this happen and everything ended up working out and the weight did come off.
