  1. Glad to hear that you're doing so great! My second fill went well too. Turns out that I actually had 2 ccs in from when they primed at the surgery, which is why it was so tight with the extra 3 ccs. Now I have a total of 3 ccs and I feel a littled restriction too. I'm still eating less than before surgery, but I'm looking forward to even more restriction. I'm down a total of 39, so I'm happy with that. I was great with walking and working out in the beginning, but the last month has been hard. I'm going on vacation next week and plan to do a ton of walking!! How about you? I'm so excited that I'm just starting to fit in non-plus sized clothes. What a NSV!! Looking forward to hearing about your progress!!!

Yay! Sounds good to me! Ebony, men are idiots. Enjoy your NSV and understand that the male species is something we'll never understand. Lulu, your arms are amazing. Can I have them when you're finished with them? :w00t: TPG

    Anyone else bigger "down yonder"?

I COULD think of several snappy answers, considering the gist of this thread, but... it really refers to "Non-Scale Victory" Some weight loss related thing (like fitting into smaller clothes) that isn't just seeing the numbers go down on the scale. In a way, this thread is devoted to a specific male NSV.

Not to be a big dork but what does NSV mean?
  5. barbie1978

    Nsv!!! :)

Ok so i've been feeling a little down because I was losing really well after surgery..now it's been 5 weeks and from my lowest weight after surgery, i'm back up 7 pounds (was more but i lost again...THANKFULLY!)... HOWEVER here's what has made me feel better...I went to the gym the other day to talk to a programmer for when I get my clearance from my surgeon, and she took all of my measurements. Comparing them to my last visit a week before surgery, here's the results: Chest: -4 INCHES Waist: -4 INCHES Hips: -4 INCHES Thighs:-1 inch EACH Arms: -.5 inch EACH Calfs: +.25 inch EACH!!!! I am just beside myself with how many inches i've lost without doing really anything besides walking! It's just motivating me to really work hard now...YAY! How is everyone else doing with NSV's??? I'd love to hear about it!

    Anyone else bigger "down yonder"?

It all depends....fainting from the shear beauty of it is a NSV for us both....fainting from the horror of it is not a NSV for either of us...hahaha:biggrin:

    Anyone else bigger "down yonder"?

    I didn't know fainting was a NSV!

Lulu - definitely not too early for anything that just might bring a smile to your face! and hells yeah you've worked hard - love the avatar although secretly hate how perfect your arms look. I'm sure I could find more dogs that would love to take the place of the goats - don't tempt me! Ebony - yeah on the NSV - forget the comments! I guess thats the plus for not having a husband yet.

Ebony-yay on the NSV! As far as your DH, I think that is just a man thing. Don't let that steal your joy. I think a lot of men don't have whatever it is that should stop them from saying things like that. I know my DH has been known for saying things like that. I try not to ask him. Instead, I ask DS. He hasn't learned his father's lack of tact.

PJTP...Hi Everyone! Lulu - I second everyone's compliments on the new avatar, and I too am glad you're back. So sorry about losing one of the family pets - they are so special to us. Hugs to you and your DH. I hear all y'all that don't want to go to work...I have that feeling a couple of days a week, but not today, 'cause I have an interview this afternoon. Please send good joo-joo, mojo, and whatever else ya got this way...interview today and tomorrow with the same department - hoping to be their newest staff person very soon! Krtork - thanks for the compliment regarding the Couch-2-5k and the house work - I'm enjoying the running and the house is a definate labor of love... TPG - sounds like you have a good plan to prep for your upcoming surgery. I wish you all good luck and an easy recovery. NSV - Since I have an interview today, I bought another "suit". It is a size 16W, has a "portrait" style collar (kinda wide open) and a straight skirt. Put on the suit this morning and while the jacket fits okay, the skirt is too big! I was able to pull it off my hips without unzipping it. I'll probably return it, since I didn't really "wear" it, but I think this means no more internet shopping for a while - I'll have to go TO the store and try stuff on...I thought I knew what size I was, but not so much...:w00t: It's a great problem to have! Not so happy moment - showed DH the suit after I put it on and asked his opinion...the numnutz said "It depends...do you want to look like your Grandma, or your Great-Grandma?" I just wanted to kill him...I was so hurt...WHY do some guys NOT understand that words can hurt? I called him on it - told him he should have chosen different words to get his point / opinion / screwed up point of view across. His defense? "That's why guys don't like answering that question"...WTF? There are a MILLION AND ONE ways to answer that freakin' question without hurting your wife's feelings. If any of you have taken the 5 Love Languages quiz on FB, I'm a "Words of Affirmation" person. Negative comments hurt me worse than if you physically hit me. A physical punch I can return, I tend to 'freeze' when negative words are thrown at me - hence some of my difficulty at work lately. He couldn't seem to understand just how badly his offhand comment hurt. Tried to defend himself by saying he said that to get his "message" across so I wouldn't wear the suit. I think there are SO MANY BETTER WAYS to say what he did without hurting ME in the process...I'm still hurt and mad, and when I'm like that, I tend to stay that way for a while. Thank goodness I'm at work and don't have to LOOK at him for a few hours...I'll calm down in a short while, but the hurt won't go away so soon... Nearly spoiled my NSV...but I'm not gonna let it. I'm going to exchange the skirt for a 14W (Yay me!) and hang onto the jacket for a bit longer to see how it looks with a better-fitting skirt. And if I like the jacket and skirt together, to HE** with what HE says!

    Non Scale Victories!

i have had several nsv's since i got banded on 4/22 - i inherited my grandmother's diamond dinner ring and i couldn't barely get it on my pinky (she had tiny fingers) and now it fits not only on the ring finger, it fits on the ring finger of my right hand which is my dominant hand and bigger than my left. i also put on a pair of jeans today that used to not go over my thighs and they are baggy. i have lost 62 pounds since my surgery, 4 clothing sizes, 2 bra sizes, a ring size and 2 shoe sizes. i got taken off my blood pressure and other meds and am feeling really amazing! katie

    Twenties NSVs

It has been forever since I have been on here! I am so happy for all of you that are still continuing to melt away! I have lost 47 pounds and am soooo excited to hit that 5-0 mark! Some of my recent NSV's are: 1.) Airplane ride to Santa Barbara... NO problem sitting in the seats! I even had a little extra room! 2.) I bought my first pair of Seven jeans... size 14! Suuuuper excited! I was up to a size 20 b4 surgery! 3.) I no longer wear an XL just a L and let me tell you I lovvve every second of it! 4.) The guy I'm dating was like "WOW, you've lost a lot of weight!" 5.) I went shopping in this little boutique called Divaz and totally fit into their L size dresses.... again very excited bc I use to never be able to shop in those boutiques. 6.) Being called "Tiny," "Skinny Minny," "Little."

I'm thinking I need another fill too. Haven't had a fill since March - but I've been losing slowly. I love my band. Just got back from vacation and lost 1/2 pound. That NEVER happened before. For exercise, all I did was play golf, walk on the beach and play tennis (that was the biggy -And I beat my husband!!!!!) Did I say, I love my band? Starting boot camp again next week. Yeah Lovely - you rock! Congrats on being so close to goal. Oh, and I had a NSV last week. I bought a new dress for a party (pre-band I was a size 20). First of all, when I went to try on dresses, I stood in the dressing room AFRAID to try on "regular" size clothing.:w00t: I haven't been shopping in so many years, chosing to buy from catalogs where I'm annoymous. Anyway, the sales lady brought in size 16's and I thought they would never work! But it did - they all fit easily!!:sneaky: Then, because they didn't have the dress I wanted in my size, it was ordered from another store. In the meantime, the sales person had a size 14 shipped to me (I don't know why because I needed the 16). Anway the 14 arrived and it fits! I'm constantly amazed!

    Weigh In Went well

Today is my Monday weight in and I was nervous. I have been eating 700-900 calories per day and my dietician says 300-400. I was so scared to get on the scale! I was shocked when it said I have lost 4 lbs this past week! Very happy, but confused. Don't know if I'm overestimating on my calories or if my body just wants that many. Anyway, I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing and hope for another good Monday next week. NSV -- I do know my pants fit better. I wore a pair of capris today that I haven't been able to keep buttoned because they were too tight around the waist. I wore them all day today and could still breath at the end of the day. Nice feeling! Getting tired of my mushie routine and ready to go to solids. My plan says 8/13 but my dietician appt isn't until 8/20 and they can't get me in any earlier. I'm bummed about that. I just want to chew something crunchy. Just a cracker or something. Anyway, things are going pretty well and I haven't had any regrets yet.

  23. Last night, my husband and I went out. I dressed in a shortish dress with my hair french-braided and cute shoes and I felt so good about how I looked. But that's not the NSV... We were out sort of late. This morning, I heard the dogs and thought I'd let my husband sleep in so I quietly got up and grabbed my jeans and t-shirt off the chair and snuck into the bathroom to get dressed. When I put on the jeans and buttoned/zipped them, they were tight. I was all "WTF?" because my jeans have been pretty loose - I need to wear a belt with most of them. So I was surprised that the jeans were tight. I looked in the bathroom mirror and sort of turned a little and noticed that the back pocket had a faded square that was perfectly the shape of a wallet. I HAD PUT ON MY HUSBAND'S JEANS BY MISTAKE! And they fit! Oh, they were a little tight but I could wear them!! What an awesome feeling. I had a bit of a whoosh these past few days, so I'm down to 215.5.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Blessed Twice - It is great to see you again! I know you must be facing new challenges every day - but the fact that you are doing so well says you can do it!! 153 pounds is great - is that your target, or just a stop on the weightloss journey?? Size 10 - YAY you! I know all about the exercise challenges - bah humbug! YAY on the NSV! And you're right - it isn't about a number. It is where you are happy and feel good about yourself. I know my doc still thinks that I, at 5'5" and big-boned, should strive for 117 - 125...but I think it just isn't going to happen. And frankly, I'm not sure how I would look at that weight. However, I am going to the clinic next week and shall have another wee chat about it and the reflux I am starting to have. HLori - mother of a teenager...that only lasts for 9 years!!!:Banane56::laugh: I know what you mean about fighting the 150's - just keep the faith...exercise (says she who is ignoring that same thing) and eating right. And yes everyone - just keep swimming!!! Have a great weekend...

    Twenties NSVs

Well I haven't posted in some time. I have had a few NSVs lately. 1. I was able to fly without a seatbelt extender. It has been quite a long time since I have been able to do this. 2. I went to Vegas last weekend and the last time I had been I was at my biggest weight. Last time I had hard time walking everywhere and was always tired by the time I got home. Well this time I walked alot more and was totally fine even in 100+ degrees. It felt great. 3. I bought shorts about a month and a half ago and they fit. 2 weeks ago I had to buy a size smaller. 4. Recently I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. Losing about 80lbs you just cant wear the same clothes. 5. My mom commited to my dad on our trip that I was not focused on food anymore, like I had once been. 6. My mom and I are almost the same size. 7. I had to donate 10 bags of clothes. 8. I was motivated to Clean my whole house. 9. I can shop in Kohls and Jcpennys now. Not just lane bryant or torrid. 1x at kohls mind you. I went from a tight 28 to a solid 22. 10. I have the confidence to wear sexier shirts. Halter tops and I would never have thought to wear those.
