I hate it when people post just to post.....

Just don't respond to them if you don't want them to be your friends. My CEO sent me a friend request. I ignored the first one. Then he made a comment to me about ignoring him and sent me another one. So, I felt guilty, and need job security, so I accepted him. Then I went into the privacy settings. I changed it so he can't see any of my status updates, because that is where I do most of my fussing and he doesn't need to see those! Oh, and add me. You can get to my fb by clicking on my link in my signature! I hate the uniboob issue! But, they are great for the gym and black eye prevention. I am so sorry she is not well. I hope she recovers quickly! I have to share something with you guys. I posted this on VST, and many of you I am friends with on FB, but I don't talk much there about my sleeve. So, I hope you don't mind that I copied and pasted my post there here. I am still excited beyond all belief about this. I have been shopping at Lane Bryant or in the "woman's" section of clothing stores for twenty plus years now. We all know that in regular department stores, the selection for plus size clothing is very, very limited. Yesterday I took my daughter back to school shopping. We went into Kohl's. All of my clothes are absolutely huge on me, and I really need some new clothes for work. I had already made plans to hit Lane Bryant later in the day. But, as long as we were already there, I begrudgingly made my way back to their teeny, tiny "woman's" department. As I made my way there, I was looking at all the really, really cute clothes along the way in the normal sizes sections and hoping that one day I will be able to wear those cute clothes. So, I get to the Woman's section. I had to guess my size, because it had been a while since I clothes shopped. I got to the dressing room, and the clothes were too big. I couldn't believe it. So, I went the next size down, and then the next until I was at the smallest size they offered in the woman's section, and they were still too big!! I couldn't believe it. So, I thought, dare I venture into the regular people's section where all the really cute clothes are. I thought, no, I am just going to be out of luck because there is no way nothing there will fit me. But, I decided what the heck, it wouldn't be the first time in my life I was disappointed so I may as well give it a try. I grabbed several items that I thought were incredibly cute and made my way back to the dressing rooms. You won't believe what happened... THEY FIT!! I was so excited and happy you wouldn't believe it. It was crazy, but a whole wave of emotions came over me and I sat down on the bench in the fitting room and started crying. Then, I had to run and find my daughter and share the exciting news with her. I had to call my husband and my mom, she called her brother. I have to say, this is the best NSV I have ever experienced. And, today, just to see if it worked in other stores, I tried clothes on at Dillards and Coldwater Creek, and I was able to fit in regular sizes there too! I am so blessed to have been given this wonderful opportunity to be sleeved. It is truly the best thing to ever have happened to me!
  2. Congrats Susan. . . It is so exciting ! ! ! I did the same thing at Old Navy yesterday, and I called everyone. . . You're doing great, and thanks for sharing your NSV. It's truly inspirational.

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

I wanted to share a non scale victory (NSV) with you all. I fell and broke my arm in December 2007. It was a substantial break. It was a complex fracture in several pieces, a spiral fracture. I fell on concrete and tried to catch myself which actually put more speed and pressure on the fall as I landed. It was a multifragmentary fracture that involved surgery with rod and pins. I spent the next 1.5 years trying to get the arm back to full range of motion. It was close but still not 100%. A few weeks after starting the exercise challenge, my arm started hurting. I was wondering one night why my arm hurt and was trying to think what I could have been doing recently to make it hurt. At first, I could not think of anything. Then a big "duh" crossed my lips. The elliptical. I am spending 7 hours per week on the elliptical with the arms that move back and forth through an extended range of motion. Awesome! Well I realized this week that I can fully extend my arm straight up now. (I had some shoulder impingement due to the rod insertion). I have 100% range of motion back. I cannot tell you how happy I am with this. I am so thankful. It had really bothered me when I finished up physical therapy a few months ago and had to accept that I had what we thought was the maximum level of improvement I was going to be able to achieve. I am very grateful. Jenai

    Columbus Area

Here is a fun NSV from me today that is Columbus related -- I signed up to walk in the American Heart Assn START Heart Walk today and the kickoff event was in the new Huntington Park baseball park. I fit into the fold down seats with arms on each side with room to spare and no pinching my thighs! Yea! P.S. It is a really nice baseball park for those who haven't seen the new home of the Columbus Clippers.

Hi everybody! Please forgive me if I leave someone out...my brain misses food . G4E, glad to hear from you. You and your family are in my prayers :cursing:. Slim, sorry no NSV for you. I say try the booze. Maybe it's what your metabolism needs. KC, sorry about the tooth. I paid an endodontist quite handsomely for the pleasure of 2 root canals. Mine turned out okay though. Hope you don't have any pain. Get good drugs!

Michelle~ Sounds like you had a great dinner last night! Don't you just love it when you can throw food in a pan and voila, dinner! I am not a big drinker either, but all the drinks sound so yummy, I might have to try a few just for the fun of it! Lu~ DH hates the Cowboys with a passion (he is a Chicago boy)- walked by and he was watching the game last night, which surpried me and I thought of you! Sounds like the new stadium is nice! KC~ Good luck with the root canal - not fun! DD goes in to get her wisdom teeth removed on Sept 3, she is not very happy! G4E~ Glad to hear from you! Will keep you and your BIL in my thoughts and prayers. PJTP: I am a bit sore today, but not too bad. Not sure I will go for a run tonight, but might take a nice walk, just to get the muscles moving! One of my former students is getting married this afternoon, so off to her wedding. DD is going with so we ran into Macy's to get her a dress, of course they are having a huge sale, so I had to try some clothes on!!! NSV - size 14 pants! Woo Hoo and they were comfortable. I need to try on my school clothes from last spring and make sure I am going to have something to wear! Better start getting ready! BBL!
  10. just to document when i got here... 135 on 8/21/09 i weighed this when i had my fitting done for my wedding gown! I lost 5 pounds in the week before the wedding....so i can't wait to be 130! the weight i was on my wedding day! Before i get to that, 131 will be 60 pounds GONE! (4 more pounds) then 130- wedding day weight (5 more pounds) after that: 123-NORMAL WEIGHT RANGE! (12 more pounds!) 121- 70 pounds gone....(14 more pounds) 120- GOAL (for now anyhow! althought if i get to 120, then have PS, that will take off a few more and i'm sure i will not care if i don't lose another pound!!!) (15 more pounds!) it's all getting SOOOOO close! the pounds are coming off MUCH slower these days, but as long as they keep going DOWN....I'll eventually get there!! I was weighed and measured at curves yesterday. I'll also add measurements i do in addition to what they do: :amount loss (actual measurements) Neck: 1/4" (12.75) arms: 1" (10) top of chest: 2" (35 1/2) boobs: 3" (38) (i REALLY think this was from a different bra or something!) under boobs: 3" (32) waist: 2 1/2" (32.5) (WOW!! that's 12.5" from the first measurements!) abs: 1 1/2" (37.5) (11.5" gone from my BELLY!!) hips: 3" (35) thighs: 1 1/2" (19.5) knees: 1" (12) calves: 1/2" (13 1/4) ankles: 1/2" (7.5) I wish i had measurements from my starting weight! I'm also going to start making myself do 10 miles a week. walk or run, 1 or 10 a day...whatever it takes to do 10 miles a week! NSV: last night we went to a concert. me and the friend that came with us were talking about jeans and being short (she's right around my height) and having to wear heels if we don't get our jeans hemmed because even the 'short' sizes are long. She asked me, "what, you wear about a 6?' HEEHEE....it's SHOWING....i "look" my size. I still don't see it, but it was GREAT to hear it from an outsider (ie. NOT HUBBY). Hubby came with me the other day to look for shirts. he LOVED this bright pink, low cut shirt. I on the other hand thought it was tight because it touched me....he, thought it looked great. I put it one to wear to the concert and said out loud that i didn't think i was going to wear it because i would be tugging on it all night. he told me i'm too hard on myself, and don't know what i see in the mirror because it looked great. i ended up wearing it, because i knew he wouldn't let me go out looking ridiculous, so he must have meant it. While we were walking into the building, he told me he was proud of me because he knew it was WAY out of my comfort zone and i looked great. :-)

    CHEW~!~...and the next NSV

I got my first fill yesterday and I can tell the difference today. It took me 40 minutes to eat about 2 oz of meat and a tablespoon of green beans. I started out eating a little too fast and FELT IT!! OUCH! So, I've learned that I MUST chew chew chew!!! The restriction has officially begun! It makes me a little nervous to eat now, I'm sure that I will get used to it. I have to say it's amazing to me to take a piece of meat that before the band would have been two bites, and turn it into a complete portion and still not be able to eat it all. CRAZY!! I'm loving it though. I worked out hard today, it felt good. An hour of cardio, then 30 minutes of weight lifting then a two mile bike ride. I feel energized! I've officially RETIRED my size 16's!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited; and to be honest my 14's aren't going to be around long, they are already a little big. Way cool. The weekend is here and should be a good time. I've got to go SHOPPING!! Need to find something to make HOT Greg notice me. So, I'm off...

PJTP: So, my friend comes over this morning to ride my horse for me, yippy! He hasn't been ridden (the horse) in about 3 years and I didn't feel like getting on and getting hurt!! So i get him ready, Vaughn rides him for 20-30 minutes, trots, lopes and does everything pretty well for a 3 year break. So time for me to climb on (NSV - I climbed on without a stool, have not done that in about 15 years!) start riding, having fun, start loping - damn horse puts his head down and starts bucking! :ohmy:Lose my balance and hit the ground hard. Roll over on my back and start laughing because I can't believe that just happened! Finally get my old ass up off the ground and climb on and finish my ride. What are the odds of that! My left shoulder is killing me, my right hip is sore, I spurred my left leg with my right spur, I have a bruise on my right thigh from catching the horn on the way off and somehow I have a cut and bruise on my nose! Go figure. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

    Twenties NSVs

I had a great NSV this morning, I was getting ready for work and decided that my pants are getting very baggy so I tried on a pair of pants I haven't been able to fit into in about a year and they fit great, I am so happy cuz they were pretty pricey, I am so happy I get to enjoy them now. I also enjoy my tummy not rubbing up again the stearing wheel when I drive

I am right there with you. I always give the benefit of the doubt and I want to believe that people will always do the right thing! It took a few hours, but I was good for the rest of the day! Sounds like the IL moving is a good thing! [quote name=luluc;1306627* ebony - hope you find some fab 14 shorts. there are some GREAT sales going on' date=' i hit dillards yesterday real quick - and to buy off the rack not try on and pay nothing was the biggest NSV so far. Macy's this Sat. I am there! * KC, again i would like to thank you for the doggie treats. i have been spoiling the dogs w/them & DH even tried one today; he said you can cook for him anytime. I keep hearing about the doggie treats and I want the recipe! KC are given it out or are you getting ready to go into the doggie treat biz? I think that is the question that we all asked, or are asking. I found mine when I decided to quit looking - weird how that happens! You are smokin hot in that dress! Love it! PJTP: Migraine went away and I had a great day! Wasn't so sure about the hair at first, but it is growing on me. It was super hot today (102) so DH and I went up in the mountains to run. We went up to Broken Top, about 6500ft, and it was a lovely 72 and we had a beautiful run! I am going to have to purchase a small camera that will fit in my handheld water bottle case. It was amazing! I love running across streams, too fun! DS had his "Iron Bear" test today and missed getting the honor by one bench press! He was so excited to go into football tonight and has been working really hard to get the title, but it wasn't happening! He felt bad, but it was super hot and only a few Seniors made the list this year. He wanted to be the second sophomore to ever get it:sad: He is over it and ready for his first game that comes up in 2 weeks. Looks like he will be starting on JV and he is pretty excited about that! Hopefully it will cool off tomorrow - I am going to ride my horse! Yeah! I will let you know how it goes. (crossing fingers and praying) Should head to bed - have to run first thing in the morning!

  16. Caysen has been bugging me for weeks to go have Mexican food at the local dive mexican food joint here. Well, I decided today to venture out and give it a whirl. . . The most exciting part of the meal was when I went to sit down and I didn't have to move the table closer to him to fit in between the seat and table. I almost moved it habitually, then stopped myself and thought to myself "go ahead, try to fit there, no one is looking, if you have to move it then move it" So, as I glided in slowly I realized not only was i going to actually fit, I had a good 8+ inches of space between my belly and the table. I know that sounds crazy, but living my life as fat as I was, moving tables to accomodate my size or asking for a table because booths were too small was an every outing occurence. It was so embarassing, and degrading, as I sit here almost in tears, I am so grateful to have my life back, and to not have to move the table anymore is such a great accomplishment. I don't care how much weight I lose, nothing will feel as good as this NSV. We ordered chicken fajitas for one off the lunch menu, and brought home enough food for another person to eat a fajita. I had 4-5 little strips of chicken with sour cream and salsa. It was by far the best feeling in the world with the booth situation, and I didn't get sick on any of the food. YIPPEEEEEEE! ! ! We went to the school this afternoon after lunch for the teacher meet-n-greet. He got a fabulous teacher, and I am so excited for him this year. He got Mr. B, and Mr. B is a buff, body builder teacher. He's strict yet fair, and we already talked about Caysen's attitude, and how it's time for Caysen to grow up. He will have homework every night, not in every subject, but 1-2 hours of homework can be expected. I think this year is going to be fabulous. We stopped off and spoke with his gym coach who had already found out who Caysen's primary teacher is this year. He said that Caysen was going to have a good year this year, and while he isn't bothered by Caysen's "smart assness", he can see how it can be distracting in a classroom setting. Caysen is really sarcastic, ummm kind like his mama ha ha ha. I know I need to set the example, but it is just how I am, and truthfully my entire family is the same way. We don't mean it negatively, it's just easier to be sarcastic than it is to be dry and dull. Caysen is always respectful, and minds his manners, but he can be a bit of a smartass. Day 2 of not smoking is going well. I really want to smoke, but at the same time, I haven't been nauseated today. I almost drove to the corner store, and Caysen touched my arm and said " but mommy, I don't want you sick anymore." I made a u-turn and headed to the house. I have eaten more today than I have in a week, and been able to keep everything down. I'm still only getting in 400-500 calories a day, but it's better than 200. I got a little nauseous right after we ate only because it's hot outside today, and when I get hot, I get icky feeling. The heat pretty much zaps me. John called this morning, and we were able to talk for 40 minutes. He is so ready to come home. Projected return date is the same so far, but I'm not getting my hopes up. He told me this morning, just be prepared to be flexible and expect delays. He literally made my day today, I was pretty down in the dumps, and he knew exactly what to say. We had a good giggle over my fat roll, it's an inside joke, y'all definitely wouldn't understand it, but lordy it's hilarious. We both had a good giggle, and he told me how much he had missed hearing me laugh. I haven't had a good laugh in months it seems like. Anyways, August is techincally 2/3 done, just another 10-11 days and then we'll definitely be in the homestretch.

  18. Good morning Notorious Novembers! Lovely NSV this morning - recently bought a tank and sweater in a size LARGE - a size I haven't worn since my teen years - and they fit! They fit beautifully, and I'm wearing them at work right now...I'm so happy! I've been there and done that! I keep stuff in my car just for days like that...YUK! Same here - dinner is my "loosest" time and when I have to be careful, because I can overeat. If I've had a problem with lunch, I go to another protein shake for dinner. RestlessMonkey on another thread suggested that occasionally, a "tight" band might be due to dehydration...I've tested that myself, and I find when I am concentrating on drinking enough water, it's easier to eat solid foods. Track your water intake and see if things are easier on days when you are getting enough fluid...it might make things a little easier. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
  19. My favorite NSV is when I get to adjust my rear view mirror in my car. My butt is smaller, so I don't sit as high!! I recently had to adjust!!
  20. These are so great!!! I love it that so many people had so many different ones to share so far! Kdub -- I'm doing the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure (raising money for breast cancer research). ThereItGoes, I bet this will cure your compartmental syndrome! I can't wait to see that in your NSV list! Catherine
  21. wow! these nsv stories are better than hearing about pounds! these are wonderful!!! we can all relate to them and omg you guys make me laugh!! i'm getting banded tomorrow at 8 am. i should of read some of these a long time ago, just what i needed to here. lisa6
  22. Congrats everybody!!!!! Love all the NSVs...WE are SUCCESSFUL! PS-I'm still in the jeans
  23. The biggest NSV I have is Hope! Now I know I can do this:) The fact all my clothes are loose, and I weight less than I did when I was 20 is not bad either:) Looooove my Band!!
  24. I had my first true NSV yesterday. I made a small road trip out of town to visit an old friend. I was trying to figure out what to wear, and decided to break open my under-the-bed storage bin with my "skinny" clothes on the small chance that something might fit. I was able to fit into one of my most favorite outfits ever, and it fit me perfectly. I haven't been able to wear this outfit since I graduated college in 2006. I was so happy!!
  25. I can't help it. . I love hearing about everyone's NSVs (non-scale victories). They are just plain inspiring. If you have some to share, please post away! Here are a few recent ones I have had: - Being able to shop in the regular department and finding out that I am finally back in a size 12 (OMG!!!); - I can wear heels all day without my feet killing me; - I can run without my compartmental syndrome (a co-morbidity) cutting off my circulation and pinching my nerves! In fact, I am going to run the Komen Race for The Cure in September! I could go on, but I really want to hear other people's! Catherine
