    Pretty fantastic NSV's

Elode, you have had so many great moments recently, and you deserve them all! Congratulations on your most recent NSVs! It’s great that you’re getting the rewards you deserve from your hard work after surgery. It’s also neat that other people are noticing – that makes it so much sweeter!

    Pretty fantastic NSV's

Those are fantastic NSV's! Congrats! I can't wait until I'm able to go places without a jacket or big sweater. Nothing like being somewhere in the middle of summer and trying to stay as covered as possible while sweating buckets.

    Amazing NSV

I was so stunned...I had my surgery on january 31st 2018, and for the first time went shopping for some clothes to help me get by (considering its only almost 3 months, but my "old" clothes are litterly falling off me) i could not believe it i fit in an Xl-1X!!! Before surgery i was a size 26-28 or 3x i almost cried my mom was there with me and i told her i never thought i would fit in them... Sent from my SM-S727VL using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel good dananana na like I knew that I would dananana na ......I feel nice dananana na.... I enjoyed my weekend.....and I will stop there.....no I won't. 27 miles of walking to date and it is only the 17th. I have got to commit to do the WAP tape more often and not just walk on the weekend. I walked Sat and Sun 6 miles, walked/danced in the house periodically, went to the pool Sunday and did 40 min of movement. I should have went to the pool on Saturday because it was killer hot. 60 miles May 25 miles June 50 miles July is my goal, I will reach and surpass it.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: It is suppose to be hot all this week so I will make sure I go to the pool 1 or 2 times. Hello can we say nsv. I tried on 2 skirts that were a size 1x and 3x and they both fit. LOL I bought them and will be wearing them weekly. LOL This morning I looked at the 1x and said is the really the skirt you tried on in the store and I put it on and I said yepppp. ha ha ha ha
  10. I had my surgery on August 17, 2005...so that's 2.5 months ago.....lost 20 pounds pre-op and 22 pounds post-op....total of 42 pounds gone forever!!! I had no complications with surgery, recovery time is quick, little to no pain, have only .5 cc in band, but going tomorrow for another fill. I started at 350 and currently weight 308....the NSV's are too numerous to list, but I can tell you that yesterday I spent 3.5 hours cleaning my daughter's bedroom without sweating to death, hurting or stopping every 10 minutes. Would I do it again.....in a heart beat!!! Good luck with your decision.....

What a GREAT NSV!!! So exciting!!! Congratz!!! You worked hard, now show it off sistah! The fashion show is a GREAT idea...I'm going to pass that idea on to our patient coordinator!
  14. I am going to be apart of a WLS fashion show this coming thursday and of course I have nothing to wear, so my friends at the gym offered to let me borrow a dress from them. The first dress- black cocktail size 14- fit like a glove. This material was not stretchy either. The second dress- is a black and white dress (not as formal)- size 8 (made from stretchy material) it fit like a glove too!!!!!!!OMG!!!!!!!!!! I am not a size 8 by any stretch, but the fact that it fit stretchy or not was an amazing feeling. Now I don't know which dress to choose.

    Truth in Tickering....

I'm not worrying about the scales too much. I am making an effort to walk more each day. I've lived in this body long enough to know that the scales only move some of the time, and when it takes a break, the belt buckle moves. (Okay, so I don't really have a belt that goes around me at this point, BUT, I have had to retire a couple of skirts for fear I'll lose them and trip myself up!! Need to post that in the NSV thread, huh? My nutritionist didn't think I could be plateauing this early (three weeks post op + almost three weeks on pre-op = right time frame for a STALL!!)....but then, she hasn't been the one inside this body for 45 years!!! She told me to do another week on full liquid, but I was going to lose my mind if I didn't have something FRESH -- so I've been nibbling (and choo-choo-chewing!!) on a little fruit and salad stuff....and a little more real food. I did have two ALMOST PBs, enough to produce a little sliming -- both times, just got in too big of a hurry and was eating hand-held food!!!! I'm gonna have to start using a fork and knife on everything. I'm used to 'micro-bites' with them, but my mouth doesn't yet know how to take a little bite. Thanks for the support ya'll.
  16. My neighbors haven't seen me in a while I guess... Lol Last time they saw me was earlier in the year when I was in the 270-280lb range. I am now about 240. My wife tells me that our neighbors husband and wife looked out their window to see where their kids were, only to see an unfamiliar person outside.... Me.... Lol They didn't recognize me at first!! The wife had to call her husband over to share her "wow" moment with him... Lol That made me feel awesome!!!

  18. Haven't been here for awhile, but since Im at my 4 year surgiversary I thought I'd check in. 80% of this post is completely plagiarized from last year's update but it gives a good recap of all 4 years.... Year 1 - the year of losing all of my excess weight (100 pounds), dozens of NSVs, and a new wardrobe. By far, the most exciting year. Even the month of liquids, 6 weeks of diarrhea and 2 insanely painful gallbladder attacks couldn't put a dent in my enthusiasm. It was all so new and fun and easy. Life was great and I was invincible! Year 2 - the year of finding out life still sucks no matter what size you are, losing my best friend to suicide, sinking into a deep hole of depression and finding that I could no longer rely on my old friends.....food, alcohol and cigarettes. Just struggling to get through each day with really no desire to. Two more gallbladder attacks which I finally put an end to with a long overdue cholecystectomy. Surprisingly able to maintain my weight loss from the 1st year. Year 3 - the year of emotional healing (well, at least a start in that direction) with a grief therapist, testosterone replacement and an antidepressant. Finally able to crawl out the darkness into a somewhat bearable existence. My latest breakthrough is I actually said yes when asked out on a date about a month ago. Considering my introvert personality and swearing off relationships almost 20 years ago, this is an extraordinary step for me. We've been out 1/2 dozen times and I'm actually enjoying it. Year 4 - the year of falling in love, being blissfully happy and regaining 10 pounds (yikes!) I'm still with that guy that asked me out back in Oct 2016. Enjoying my first totally honest, mature relationship. Ironically, I've found being a good bariatric patient is harder in good times than in bad. I've got better things to do than think about Protein, fluids, carbs and vitamin......everything has become less and less about surgery and weightloss and more and more about life. So my downfall this past year has been cocktails and chocolate. Took up the bad habit of consuming both on a daily basis. That, and a lot of donuts and muffins! But the good news is I have already dropped 8 of the 10 pounds I put on. As always, it just takes going back to basics..... drink more Water, eat more protein and less carbs. My BF is great and jumped on the high protein/low carb bandwagon with me. Of course being a guy, he's dropped 20 pounds to my 8 (stupid boys). I have every confidence I will drop those last 2 pounds before 2018. Bottom line is successful WLS results is not rocket science. Whatever you had to do to lose weight is pretty much what you need to do forever. If you can't control sliders and trigger foods, they WILL lead to regain. If you don't make the psychological adjustments and permanently change your habits and behaviors, you WILL regain. It's totally up to you whether or not your surgery becomes just another failed diet. Don't be afraid to seek professional help with the mental side of it. Because as the years go on, that's what makes you successful, not how tiny your stomach is. Good luck to the newbies. Congrats to the veterans.
  19. Well, she kinda hurt my feelings too. She said "mom, I use to be so embarrassed to go anywhere with u, but now im proud that your my mom. Your so pretty now". WOW. And thats one of the reasons I had this surgery. I dont ever want my kids to feel embarrassed by me. Im so thankful for het being so open and honest with me.

This Bunny Is Off Her Meds!- Non Scale Victory Time!!

i have a few nsv's. # 1- the other day i helped a customer in his 70's at my job, we chatted and laughed for a minute. when he left he passed my female co worker and said something to her. she came over to me a few minutes later laughing and said "That nice old man you just helped said you were quite a woman and if he was 20 yrs younger he'd go after you !" hilarious ! (Im 53 but have been told i look younger) #2 the pants i just got a few weeks ago are starting to get loose, again..........(this is getting fun, and expensive !) #3 im happily married but its still nice to have my hubby notice my weight loss and say nice things like "your butt is getting smaller !"

Starting To See The New Me...

So I was banded on March 5th 2012 at a size 18/20. Well on Sunday I tore a tag off of a 14/16 dress for church and YEP it was TOO BIG..... YAAYYYYY. Now I have only lost 24 pounds which does not seem like a lot to me, but I am happy with my success so far. I am only 7 weeks out and down in sizes so hay... I guess that is my first NSV..... its the small things that count and keep you motivated and I am ecstatic I still have 58 pounds to go and I am ready for the remainder of my journey and to get to where I want to be....... Loving my lap band....
