    3 months post op.

I am feeling the same as you. I'm at a stall. I am following my NUT plan to the T. But I realized that earlier on I was losing weight daily because I was eating a lot less and healing my tummy. Now that I'm on a regular diet, I'm not losing weight. I track everything in myfitnesspal and my NUT is my friend on it too. That helps track what I eat. I'm so worried too about stretching it. Thanks Nancy

    3 months post op.

The best way to control this kind of anxiety is to weigh and measure your food, every bit of it. I had some of the same concerns early on and found that measuring my portions eased my mind almost completely. You SHOULD be eating more at 3 months post-op than you were 3 days post-op...you also know what volume/protein grams you should be eating now, so weigh it, measure it and eat it!
  3. Hi my name is sandy from NJ and I have decided to do the gastric sleeve. I have already met with my nutritionist and have 3 more left. Hopefully there are people out there that plan on doing the surgery or have done it...so let’s be buddies and fight the same psychological & physical battle.

    3 - 5 meals without grazing

It's been three days on this schedule now, and I am eating or drinking nonstop. To calculate five meals every three hours, 5*3=15. 15 hours of my day, I am eating every three hours. In between, I have JUST enough time to wait 30-45 minutes, twice, to drink for 90 minutes, and eat again. I'm exhausted.
  5. I am about 20 weeks post-op and I was doing well but now I have noticed that the sugar cravings have returned. I am having a problem resisting. I want to be committed to be eating healthy how can I get over this hurdle.
  6. My doctor told me at my first follow up appointment that if I measured my success by the scale I would be disappointed every time. My scale reads 203 pounds and has been there for a couple of weeks now but the size 36 pants that fit when I first got them not too long ago are getting real loose. So just because I can’t see it on the scale doesn’t mean stuff isn’t happening.
  7. That's great for 1 week out. I always lose weight in my face first. Hopefully the double chin!!!!
  8. Hello. I'm 18 days out post GB and I'm having a REALLY hard time eating. I'm supposed to be in the soft food stage. I eat 2-3 tb of cottage cheese and 1/2 slice deli turkey and that's all I can get in for the day. I was told to eat every 2-3 hrs and that I'm not eating enough. In between eating I'm sipping Water and Protein drinks. But after I eat I'm full for 3-4 hrs. Honestly, I'd be more comfortable sticking to a liquid only diet. I feel less thirsty/dehydrated and less full. I basically feel full 24/7 trying to get in liquids and eat. Who knew eating could be difficult? I know this is all over the place, but I guess I'd like to know how everyone else progressed with eating and how you got in your protein. Eating is causing me to get in less than my minimum rqd protein. My concern is getting enough protein. But I can honestly say that I'm stoked that I don't have to eat a lot to feel full. I hate stalls but they pass quickly
  11. Omg I am SO with you! I'm 13 days out- full liquids- bit can have yogurt, hot cereals puddings too. My problem is just like yours. Eating fills me so fast! I have zero problems getting my liquids in, though my tummy prefers them to be warm. Room temp water is so-so , therefore I tend to drink more hot tea than anything. Crystal lite is ok. Anyway- I'm supposed to have 3 meals of 4 oz each and drink liquids and protein shakes in between. I much prefer having one meal and upping my protein to make certain I get it all in. It is so darn hard! I felt "real" restriction for the first time today. Trying to get liquids in 30 min after I ate and each sip almost hurt[emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]. Spoke with my NUT today and she said that for now it was ok to do "food" as an in-between and protein shakes as main source. Said it may take a few more weeks for my new tummy to get used to food. She also cautioned me that she did not approve of this as a long term solution. Who knew?[emoji4]
  12. So I was sleeved on July 5. I have lost 16lbs and stopped loosing at week 3. Scale has been stuck for over 2 weeks. I've taken measurements and in the two weeks have only lost 4 1/2 inches total. Can't for the life of me figure out why I'm not loosing anymore.

    anyone taking Ibuprofen?

I was cleared to take it at about 6 weeks. I take it almost daily, no issues thus far. It's one of the reasons I chose the sleeve - because I could take NSAIDS. Still - I'd consult your physician first.

    Laxative or Not?

I am Post Op Day 3 and I have no problems going. My doctor recommended Colace (stool softner) starting today. If you are really unsure, I would call my doctor for advice.

    Upcoming Surgery

I was up walking within a hour of waking up from surgery. By day 3 I was out shopping and by day 5 I was flying home. I would say there was really no down time. Just more sleeping in the first 2 days. I do think you need to push your self and when you do you recover faster. Good luck

Questions to ask at first appointment?

Ask whether you'll need to be on a liquid diet before surgery and if so, for how long. On this site, off the top of my head I believe I've seen requirements ranging from a day or so to three weeks with the most common being 2 weeks.

    Can't Stand It!

We all have moments like this when we're on a diet, don't we? It's incredibly frustrating. You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself, though. I used to get so frustrated with my family even before surgery because I was diabetic and half the places they wanted to eat didn't really have a good option for my strict diet. The reality is that you'll probably go through a good patch of feeling this way, off and on. Now, once you're sleeved it's different. You might still want that food because it smells good (or you're on liquids and want to chew something!) but a lot of us find that things simply don't taste the same to us and those old favorites aren't appealing anymore. It's hard and you have every right to feel angry and frustrated and sorry for yourself. But you're making a change that's going to impact the rest of your life for the better. It's worth the suffering now. And those foods aren't gone forever, either. You could choose to eat almost anything after you're healed, in moderation. You'll probably find that your tastes and your ability to eat certain foods has changed but you'll have the option. Sometimes, the hardest part is just being told you can't do something - once you choose not to do it on your own you feel differently about the whole thing. Good luck! Less than three weeks before you're rocking that sleeve...and a diet of clears! ~Cheri
  18. i am taking double doses of Vitamins, plus the walking. my hair has not been falling out yet--i sure hope it stays that way, but i am prepared mentally if it does. once a week i boost my calories and eat A LOT of carbs--that seems to be keeping me from having too long of stalls --seems like i loose 5 pounds the day i eat all those carbs--lol my main problem is that i just don't want anything to eat--nothing sounds good and nothing taste good--well, sweets sound good but i have dumping so that is out!! i am really having to force myself to eat--that is the only problem i have had so far

  20. if you ever get the stomach bug with the lap band just a heads up its the most horrible thing you will ever experience and the pain is horrible.because we all know with the tummy bug you throw up everything even what is below the band so its going to try and push its way back through the band which is rough so always have an antinausea medication on hand and take it and try not to throw up when sick with the tummy bug because its painful and when i had the tummy bug last year it took a week for my abdominal muslces to heal so yes you will throw up with the lap band and its not like the vomit when you eat something wrong with the lap band either its a whole different level.
  21. I had my surgery on the 29th October. Im feeling so great and feel light. Best advice is to walk and walk in hospital, to get rid of gas, my only discomfort at start. I weighted 101kg and am now on day 3 and weight 96kg. Its good to weight once a week, so thats my goal mark. Drinking my fluids sip by sip, and vitamins, fiber in my fluids. Looking foward to seeing the progress, so exciting Sent from my SM-A205YN using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. At week three my NUT told me not to worry about calories - focus on the Protein and fluids. What you list doesn't look like a lot - you'll be able to take in more soup and thinned oatmeal; it will pass thru fairly quickly. Once you move to a puree diet, you probably won't be able to take in 1/2 cup, more like 1/4 cup or something like that.
  23. Funny thing. I lost alot the first week and then in week two I stalled. I ate less, (400cal.) drank more, added more Protein and the scale didn't budge. I read stuff on here and some said eat more calories. Sounded unlikely, but I was discouraged anyway. So I had to work hard to eat more than twice the calories, logged in with fitness pal and noticed how with my biking and walking I was still only netting about 800 a day even with eating so much. Low and behold, instead of gaining like I thought, the scale went down. Go figure. Something to do with starvation mode when you eat too little. Who would have thought I'd actually have to work at eating MORE to lose more. Whatever the reasoning, I'm gonna follow more of what is suggested and less of what I think should work. I don't know why I'm surprised.....my way of eating never worked for me before, so I will be relearning everything since WLS,

  25. I'm female, 42, 5ft 10, very active (run or do boot campe 5 x per week, work as a teacher, on my feet all day) and I ate around 1500 a day to lose. I think you might be UNDER eating, but really, you've lost a LOT and it does slow down and become very stop start. Just keep at it and eventually it will start coming off again. It took me an entire year to lose the last 10lb. I guess I could have eaten less, but I was happy enough at the higher weight, and I'm very active and now I can eat whatever I want without gaining so I'm really glad that I've obviously preserved lean body mass and have a healthy metabolism.
