    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

HI guys....I've been MIA for a few weeks, and have just read all the posts I have missed. Sounds like many of you are doing all the right stuff to get back on track. Congratulations on the re-comittment to yourself! Scrappy, so glad to hear that your healing is going well. You are an inspiration. Amanda, sounds like the trip to Alaska and the memorial for your mom all went well. Been thinking about you. I have more issues....as Fenton so kindly once pointed out I must have been really bad in a previous life.... I have lumps....on my hips....they are weird. I felt one in the shower one day a few weeks ago and figured it was a lipoma (benign fatty lump) No biggy! Well, over the next week a new one popped up on the other side that was painfull...so I took a look at work one day. Well, it did not look like any lipoma I had ever seen and surprise, surprise there were many of them. I showed a couple of radiologists and they immediatly suggested getting a biopsy. Of course life does not move that quickly.... Now after another sonogram and consults with my doctor and another radiologist I have a CT scan of the pelvis scheduled for Weds and an appointment with a surgeon scheduled for August 3rd (masses on the hip are not so urgent). They are doing the CT scan before they will do a ultrasound guided biopsy of the largest lesion on my left hip....that's the fastest growing and the strangest looking on ultrasound. Well....it no longer hurts and it seems to have slowed the growth...all good things. The worst it could be as far as I can tell is a liposarcoma and the most likely is fat necrosis (but why the heck is the fat around my hips dying/growing/hurting?????) I figure if it's not cancer of some kind, maybe it will be one more thing to present to the insurance when I want my tummy tuck. If I have panniculitis (fat necrosis) it would be a good reson for a panniculectomy, and maybe they could fix my hernia at the same time. The stress of all this combined with my mother having hip replacement surgery and my lovely husband thinking I am having an affair (HA-HA-HA) has led me to a 13 pound weight gain over my lowest weight. YUCK! Still have a very hard time with solid Proteins (empty band) and the bad stuff goes down oh so easy! Christine

I had my tubes tied 10 years ago and I swear it caused weight gain...
  3. My Doctor is very compassionate. I have been really struggling the past few months and had tummy problems to boot (with the iron) and she told me this was a long process and everyone goes through it. I had a real long talk with her last time because I was so frustrated and she is leaving! She told me that I would probably be losing for the next two years because I have so much to lose. You are not alone Susie!! It is a hard hard fight. I love my band also, just didn't know that at times it would be such a struggle. But, I hope all Dr.s are caring and compassionate with weight gain or plateaus. Jane

This Is Gonna Be My Quote For Life!! It's not important how far away your goal is - just that you're moving toward it. 237 and am so excited. That is 12 since Jan. 15, 2011. I have decided that I will go get 1 cc (I had 4 taken out last April). I will go next Friday. I feel like the one will help me. I know I do not ever want to be sick like I was last year. I was desperate going into my 3 rd year anniv. I paid for that. No more speedy go fast marathon. I am choosing to go steady. I have also learned to stay away from high sodium stuff. Weight gain galore. Bought the biggest loser juliann Protein choc. powder, had it last night. Very good. I did 1 cup ice, 1 scoop Protein Powder, 1 tbsp p.nut butter, 1/2 cup 1% milk and 1/2 cup Water. I am proud of my self.
  5. Hey Everyone, Please share with us what your form of exercise is. For me I knew working out in a gym was never going to work. I just hated the thought of “having” to go to a gym and working out. For many others this is just want they need. The have a personal trainer—great thing to do. I know me and that just didn’t appeal to me. For me walking was something that didn’t really require a lot of equipment and was something that most anyone can do. This is what I have learned about walking. “Walk for 45 minutes a day. The reason we’re suggesting 45 minutes instead of the typical 30 is that a Duke University study found that while 30 minutes of daily walking is enough to prevent weight gain in most relatively sedentary people, exercise beyond 30 minutes results in weight and fat loss. Burning an additional 300 calories a day with three miles of brisk walking (45 minutes should do it) could help you lose 30 pounds in a year without even changing how much you’re eating.” I found this information on the Web about walking a long time ago. So I knew I was changing my lifestyle when it came to eating, which means that I could lose a lot more weight if I just walked. It really has worked for me and also relieved stress in my life too. In the winter time, I walk inside a mall. I also swim now and then too. I would love to hear what you do for exercise. Let’s share some ideas, it might just help others. 6. Thanks do you think it’s to late if I have messed up. I fear I have stretched out my stomach I know it’s only been 3 months but I never thought I have any weight gain especially not this early. However it wasn’t the same scale but I know my clothes fit a little snugger then the week before. I also was on birth control that gave me crazy side affects
  7. I recommend logging every that you eat, specifically calories. If you do, then what does it look like comparing the two months? When I get frustrated because of weight gain, for example water weight, I am aware that I can easily fall into the old habit of feeling defeated. Now I look at my calorie intake and determine whether it is real or just water weight. It is a way not only to make sure the weight will continue to come off (or maintenance in my case), but also, keep me sane from self-defeating feelings. and actions that usually follow Like if I am eating 1300 calories according to my journal, week to week, and one day I gain 5 lbs., I know there is no way that the 5 lbs. I gained is fat and it must be water weight. So it gives me guidance, accountability and more importantly, peace of mind.

Looks like we are all surviving the holidays. No weight gain would be a great task. Remember those holiday season when and added 5-10 # would be the norm. Just think where we all were a year ago and how far we have all come since then. Congratulations to all of us!!

    ja9va: Way to go! Another pound is great!!! Suzzzie: Have you tried Skim Milk when you're thirsty like that? I've found that if I've had all or near all my required water for the day, that milk sometimes hits the spot when I'm still thirsty. I, too, had had a slight weight gain back...like 4 pounds...but I've now lost it plus another pound. NSV ahead: I even turned down Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake that a coworker brought in yesterday. Didn't even want it...and I LOVE Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake. Still battling the infection...it was almost gone and I think it's coming back. I've called the doc to see what they want me to do. UGGGH. And my first fill is a week from today. vbmenu_register("postmenu_515003", true);

It has been a while since my last post and it’s because I have been kind of having a hard time with my band. It’s all the same old thing, I can eat as much as the bad stuff as I could possibly want and could only eat small portions of the healthy stuff. I know I have put some weight back on. I don’t know how much because I am so freaked out of what the scale reads, so I just won’t even get on that thing. My pants sizes are staying the same and I still feel good, but I can see some more belly fat around the love handle area. I am pretty sure I need another fill but I am kind of embarrassed to go in there because of the weight gain. I guess I need to get over all that and just go in there. On another note I have a girl question for you all. I have always been kind of a shy guy and the when I meet girls it always been when a friend introduces me or I meet them at a party or something along those lines. As far as seeing a girl at the store or doc office and going up to them and asking them out, I have never really done that. My problem is I really want to take this girl out at my orthodontist office (yes I am 26 years old with braces) and I don’t really know the best approach to ask her. She is pretty out going, friendly, funny, smart, and it seems like we have some stuff in common. It kind of sucks, all the qualities I see in her that I like, is the same reasons why I am intimated by her. I know I am not all that bad looking and I like to think of myself as a fun person to be around, I just still lack the confidence even after losing 120lbs. Anyhow I just kind of wanted to get everyone’s take on this. Any good tips on how to raise the confidence level?

JoeyGirl I was in hospital for 2 days but by the time I got home I was still up 5lbs... I lost that weight over the next couple of days (fluid coming out!) and by the end of the first week I'd lost an additional 3.5lbs!!! So don't worry about the weight gain, it is just all the fluid they pump into you and it does come off.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

And just what is wrong with endless snacking and beer drinking, other than the obvious weight gain?

    June Post Ops!

I DID IT!!! I finally broke though to the 120s! So excited this morning to see 129.6! I want to maintain between 128 - 132. I feel like I am there! At six months old I was pulled off formula and put on skim milk due to excessive weight gain. I do not remember a day in my life when I was not trying to lose weight or thinking about how out of control my weight was. I have to say that NOT wanting to lose more weight is really a foreign and kind of scary feeling! I guess it's going to take time to get used to it! Carol

I too loved my steak experience and will pursue it more often now. 🙂 Sorry to hear about your PCOS. I have a colleague with PCOS and it causes weight gain for her too. She is very frustrated because she eats so healthy and can't lose. I forgot to mention that during my short vacation back to my home town I also went to the Melting Pot to celebrate my Mother-in-laws' 80th birthday. If you haven't heard about this place, it's a fondue restaurant--lots of courses. My husband and I split a plate of meats, I had a few bites of his salad. The killer (and my favorites) are the cheese and chocolate fondue courses. I had two pieces of pretzel bread dipped in cheese and for dessert one brownie bite and one strawberry dipped in dark chocolate. I was happy I could enjoy the meal with the family. I don't do a lot of breads and zero pasta, but because the meal is over three hours, I was able to eat a few of my favorites. This was a wonderful feeling...to be able to eat small amounts of foods I enjoyed. I finally feel as if I'm getting the hang of this lifestyle!
  15. Not that I have ever heard of. Google only comes up with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) as causing weight gain. I definitely have slow motility, but not really any other SIBO symptoms. I'll have to ask my gastroenterologist ex next time we talk ....hmmm ...
  16. OMG!! You look great. What do you weigh now ? Well done you look amazing. Thank you! I got down to 158 before I started lifting weights. Now i am around 168, but most of the weight gain has been muscle. I feel a million times better.

  20. Stall/weight gain over! I think. I'm never sure if this scale is playing tricks on me or not :(

  21. Feeling really stressed with the weight gain of 45lbs since having my baby 7moths ago. I am feeling very stuck!!!

  22. Was more than difficult to keep my weight off while I was in Texas...had to fast when I got back so I wouldnt show a weight gain at Options.

  23. Side effect of sleeve, I have to get all new winter shoes. My old ones do not fit, I literally walk right out of them. I rather replace for weight loss rather than weight gain.

  24. Gained another pound. I hope I don't hear about the weight gain when I go for my fill Wednesday.

  25. I weighed myself a few days after surgery and I went from 238 to 221, but I weighed myself today, now ten days after surgery, and I weigh 226. Is it common to gain a few pounds after surgery? I'm barely eating anything, so I don't know if there's another reason for the weight gain. Thanks.
