    The wedding

IT'S FINALLY DONE!! As any of you who have been reading my blogs know, I have been diligently working on flowers and decorations for a friends wedding. I'm so glad I'm done with that! It turned out awesome and she was extremely happy. NSV of the day, I wore a skirt to the wedding that my ex husband bought me about 15 years ago and I have never been able to wear it, he bought it about four sizes to small. (thanks honey) It FIT today!!!!! It was fun I had a friend tell me that it made me look really skinny!!!!! I will admit, it was a nice thing to hear~~ I'm starting to see a change, with this last fill and feeling the restriction, I'm hoping the number on the scale changes too. That's it for me, I have the flu and I'm headed to bed. Hope everyone in bandland is doing well, keep in touch!

  3. Hotchocolate -- no you are not alone - EVERYONE has hit a stall -- I'm at stall #3 in 3 months - however, I've lost 43 lbs. so I'm not complaining - and I know the scale will start moving again (or I'll catch that little gremlin unawares and he wo't be able to keep his foot on the same number button) ... hang in there, you're doing great -- remember, it didn't come on overnight, it's not going to come off overnight either -- and take encouragement in the NSV (non-scale victories) like your pants and panties falling off -- however, please be at home when that happens okay?

    What are your NSV's ???

I am a Costco addict and I can't wait until I can fit into the clothes they have!!! That is one of my goals. It won't be for a while... but I will get there!!:sneaky: I did a try on of all my pants today and all the 22's are loose.. woohoo!!!!!:wink2: I put them all in a pile and I'm going to donate them to Goodwill or Salvation Army as soon as possible. Another NSV is that I already now have more room in my closet!! I can't wait until I am able to get rid of all the bigger sizes... I'm going to have SO much room! I have bins of clothes stacked in closets I can't wait to wear. One of my goals this weekend is to go through them all and organize them by size, it is exciting!!

    Twenties NSVs

Everyone is doing so well! I love to hear all about NSVs. -I always thought of my lab partner and thought thats what I want to look like. Well the other night we swapped some clothes and all the clothes I got from her were all a little too big! -The fact that I can actually swap clothes with my friends! who would have known I would see the day! - I now wear a size M top and a size 12 bottom. I used to be a 3x/2x and 26/28. -I work in a store where designer is everything and I could never fit into designer jeans until now! I'm offically a size 32 in jeans. -I have run into a few people I went to high school with and none of them recognize me. This is nice but it is also really embarrasing when you say hi and they look at you like you're crazy.

    Twenties NSVs

My NSV, I bought a pair of size 12 jeans for later...and I tried them on and they fit NOW!! Im 9 weeks post op and started off at a size 16. The size 12's are really snug, but I cant believe I can get them on (buttoned and zipped )!
  8. I've only lost 21 pounds but just having this surgery has given me the motivation to really stick it out in the gym so that's where my NSV's feel like they are right now. My heart rate isn't going as high when I'm doing the elliptical and I'm getting in a full 45 minutes a day cardio plus weight lifting in between classes and a 30 minute session of yoga when I get home at night. Simply knowing that I've taken this big step in my life has helped soooo much. Plus, I seem to have a lot more time on my hands when I'm not constantly eating or planning what I'll eat next...who would have ever thought? Here's to a great future for all of us!

Slow Users-Banded a year or more

I don't even want to think about my skin! I'm just pleased with the loss I've had so far. And I wanted to share my NSV of this weekend. It is a first for me. I went with my DH to buy a suit for an upcoming wedding. After we did that (and a lot poorer) I asked him if he'd come to the local "fat lady store" with me and see if there was anything I could find for my outfit. We went in and walked around and it was just so depressing. Everything was either grunge outfits (trying to capture the youth market) or for the over 60 set. And anything in between had big bows, big patterns or was just plain ugly. I suggested we try the Reitman's store that was across the parking lot. It said they had some "Plus Sizes". I walked in and asked to see what they had in suit jackets for a wedding. She showed me a lovely jacket and asked me my size. I said I wasn't sure, what did they have? They had 22, 20 and 18. I said "I'll try the 22". The woman said, "oh dear, that will be far too large for you, try the 18" I laughed and said I'd meet her in the middle at 20. Well, it was too big! I tried on the 18 and it was perfect. I felt brave enough to ask to see some dress pants, we went through the same routine and I ended up with a great fitting pair in 18. I CAN SHOP IN NORMAL STORES AGAIN!!! For the first time in almost 20 years. I was so happy, my husband said I looked great in my outfit and I will be comfortable in my size 18 suit in Scotland at the end of the month. His family haven't seen me for a couple of years, and I was 293 then. I'm now 226 and I feel like I weigh 150. I had to share. I've been on this plateau for seven months. I've lost only 10 more pounds since it started to come off again, but this is proof that our bodies are shifting that weight around and we are getting thinner. Thanks for listening, and keep up your hard work everyone. We are getting there! Mary

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Hey Jul! That's it, the band works with us. You are doing great. Shiny - Another post of good news! YAY you! And yet another good news poster - whoo hoo!!! Your NSV is wonderful Ezman; I know how those Cookies were calling out to you! Yes indeed, where are Crystal, Lori, RSG, Mom of 2, and others??? Comeon ladies, post and let us know what's happening! I still havenot made it back to the Y after my month of the 'blahs'. I am however back to walking to/from work, and being more careful on my food. Not great, but certainly a LOT better than last month. I just need to keep on swimming!
  11. Morning all. SLG - OMG and I'm so glad to hear you at least got some positive things going now. At least you don't have to fight the insurance on top of everything. I have every appendage crossed, hoping it will correct itself for you. I've been doing pretty well. I've tracked my foods for 4 days now. Yay! I think it's really helping out too. I can't do the catatonic eating now. I also have a huge NSV for me. I managed to go into Fry's grocery store now twice and didn't buy my Peanut Butter cookie. Woo hoo! I found some willpower again. Also, where the heck is Crystal? HAven't seen a posting from her in ages. Anyone hear from her? Hope she's doing well.

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

It's been a while since we've had some NSVs, so come on, let's hear some! I know you're all doing great, so there has to be something you want to want to share. Let's have an NSV Party! I'll start: I am now considered "ALL" or "MOST" -- lol. I can finally fit into my "One Size Fits All" or "One Size Fits Most" nightshirts and beach cover-ups!!! :w00t:  And!!! I finally did something I've been wanting to do all my life... buy an LBD!!! A little black dress!! I bought it yesterday to wear at my niece's upcoming wedding... and it was a size 14!!!!!! I haven't worn that size since....... well, I actually can't remember, it's been so long!! Probably more than 15 years ago. Now, granted, I'm still going to need some Spanx to smooth the rolls -- LOL -- but HEY! I'm so thrilled!!! C'mon, let's hear from you!!

    Restriction....finally?!?!

When I read your post I felt empathy for you. I am a slow looser. My total weight lost thus far is 27 lbs. That includes the 15 lbs I lost during the pre-op diet. So, after being banded I have lost 12 lbs. The disappointment is very real. I thought my expectations were realistic, so when the scale was not moving a harsh reality set in. I have had 3 fills. With this last fill, I can say I have a decent level of restriction. I would not go as far to say it is my "sweet spot" but at least I know the band is there. Yay for the tool! I need it for help and support so I can be a healthier me! If you are anything like myself, I build momentum from success. The more I loose, the more I want to do good to loose. When I am not seeing any results, well I have a different approach. Not saying this is the right attitude, but lets face it, it's the truth. So I get what you are saying and feel your skeptisism. I have plenty of NSV that are keeping me smiling and helping me to have a positive outlook. I have mini goals, I focus on 10 lbs at a time. Since I am 252 I am nearing 2 of my mini goals. First being out of the 250's, second hitting the 30lbs mark. Do yourself a favor, and don't give up before you actually hit a good level of restiction. Keep going for fills, get them under floro if at all posible. Talk to the Dr about how you are feeling. Focus on Proteins first. Get your H20 in and set a few goals. Remember why you had the surgery. You can do this!!! I tried on my wedding ring again this morning. I am getting closer to being able to wear it again. I haven't worn it since I was preggers with my son, who is 21 months old. That is a bigger goal. I am able to wear my first engagment ring, so that is another victory! We are in this together and you are not alone. It's hard at times to see the awesome success of others when we are not sharing the same success. It will come! Hang in there!
  14. Congrats on the boots! I have not been able to zip up a pair of boots in years. I am hoping that by this winter , I will actually be able to be able to pick out any boots I want and wear them. Good luck and continued success to all..I agree, all the NSV's are inspiring to read!

    I just realized......

    Yay for NSV's!! That's progress ; )
  16. From Bridesmaids dress NSV to Band Slippage and repair surgery all in the blink of an eye. Well folks the results are in and my band has slipped which I knew when I was having heartburn, but my surgeon thought that an unfill would allow it to repair iteself. Well no such luck, just left her office and the band is still out of place and the only way to fix it is with SURGERY. So here we go again. She gave me the option to take it out, if I was happy with my weight loss so far. I was like are you fricken kidding me?!?!? I'm happy with the weight I've lost but I am far from done. ABSOLUTLEY NO REMOVAL! REPAIR REPAIR REPAIR! So now comes the waiting game of ins approval and availability on her schedule. If I had it my way I'd be in surgury tommmorw. I'm like lets get this show on the road and get this thing fixed and get the scale moving. Wish me luck. In the mean time I will try to keep on making beter food choice and hitting the gym like a mad woman!

    The wait and the wants

You should check out a post I put up on the Post-Op board. Everyone posted their recent NSVs (non-scale victories). There are so many that are just like the things you are looking forward to happening! So, you have a lot to look forward to! :frown: Best wishes, Catherine

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

I may have to restart that. I haven't in a long while, but probably should. I won't start it right away though, I am just easing back into the lap life...today I walked for the first time in about a month. Such a long climb back to where I was... Yes St. Louis. Hope things went well today! Thanks Shiny! And yes, it does seem that many of us are struglling - good thing we each are struggling at different times though - there's always someone here to help. I hope I can be that support for someone else! I love fall as well - although the weather here sucked all summer - like a perpetual raining spring. I have hopes for the fall! fingers are crossed! WOW, what a fabulous achievement, what a fabulous post! You are my new hero! You have such a great can-do attitude, and you are so positive! YAY you! Note to self: nag Ezma! We can do this; we are stronger than our cravings, our bad habits!!! YAY to you, Lil Miss! Congrats on the NSV! So, where is Lori? Where is RSG?

  21. NSV Bridesmaids Dress Update So first off I am still unfilled down to 3cc's following an extended espisode with heartburn. So my restirction is basically non exsistent, but I am trying to the best I can with food choices and exercise. But the good thin is that I back to my surgeon tomorrow so hopefully there is a fill in my immediate future so I can get some help getting the scale moving. So do you guys remember me asking your advice about ordering bridesmaids dress for a wedding I going to be in in October? Well at the time I was in an 18, and took a gamble on myself and ordered the dress in a 14... Well I picked up the dress yesterday... Can I get a drum roll please?!?!?!?!? The dam thing didn't fit! It's to fricken BIG!!!!!! Like I had to hold it up (its strapless) so that it would stay up to BIG! I am so floored I mean i probably could have gotten away with ordering a 10. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!

    Twenties NSVs

blackcherry what a sucky nsv! im sorry to hear that. my nsv this weekend was that 3 of my friends picked me up! i asked the first one bc hes big and strong, but when he picked me up like it was a piece of cake, everyone else started saying that they could easily pick me up too! so that was something i had always wanted to do! also, we went to float the river unexpectedly so i didn't have a bathing suit with me. not only was i able to borrow a bikini from a friend who i have always thought of as normal-sized, but it was even a little big! i still wore a cover up, but it felt good to be normal and fit in with the group, and not to be embarrassed in my suit. there were a bunch more nsvs this weekend but these were the good ones!

    Twenties NSVs

Well him and I did have a "thing" during the beginning of his relationship with her...3 years ago, and we've all said our sorries, etc. and moved past it. But when I became REALLY fat (right after our lil affair) she didn't care that we stayed friends but now I lost weight and yea... But it's stupid because I've been with my bf now for 2.5 years so...I just don't want to lose a friend out of the deal...But he's basically still talking to me so it's no big deal and they live 3 hours away in my hometown so I don't have to deal with it a lot but...weird NSV huh? --In my defense back then, half of the affair I didn't even know they were going out, and the other half I did he constantly made it sound like he was going to break up with her. Soooo he's a douche but as a friend he's a good guy...

    Twenties NSVs

Well one of my close guy friend's gf won't let us be friends anymore because it was ok for us to be friends when I was fat and invisible but now that she saw me again I must be a threat...not a happy nsv but...
  25. trina4ufl

    Yay!

232 today...after going from 238 on my home scale the day of my last doctor's appt two weeks ago, then going down to 234 on my liquid diet, and then back up to 240, I am finally starting to see some downward movement, even though it's only a few pounds in the last two weeks, I'll take it. I'm only 2 pounds away from hitting the 100 pound down mark! oh and NSV--my size 18 jeans that were super tight a few weeks ago now are falling down. I need a belt, only my waist is too wide for regular sized belts right now without feeling squished. Also, a ran into an old friend last weekend who looked at me, did a double take and was like, wow, you're looking great. Now he's known me for many years, and I don't think he's seen me at my heaviest, so that's a compliment for sure. I've gotten into a better groove with eating. I'll eat healthy 90% of the time and then allow myself the occasional fast food fix or junk food, but I look at the calories before I eat it and make sure it's nothing crazy. For example, I had a grilled chicken to go wrap from Wendy's 250 calories for lunch and another day I was going to allow myself a taco supreme from taco bell 200 calories, but then I thought it would be too messy to eat at work so I ate a healthy choice frozen meal instead. I've been trying to eat breakfast so sometimes I have a mini blueberry muffin, one day I had the low fat starbucks blueberry coffee cake which I'm sure used up the majority of my daily calories, but it was so good. I did skip lunch that day and had a super healthy dinner, so it worked out. I have to watch it right when I get home from work because that is when I'm stressed and tired and want to pig out, so I try to go to the gym or plan something with my boyfriend for that time. I eat 2 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter some days at that time to hold me over until dinner. Dinner has been good because I get really solid protein food like chicken breasts and peas or last night it was steak and lobster tail. Since my fill is good, I can only eat a very small portion, but I'm full when I eat it, so it works out great. 3 meals and a snack in between lunch and dinner seem to keep me away from the ravenous hunger stage. I have to eat different things or I get bored and want to revert to crappy food.
