  1. Before and After (10 days out from bypass)
  2. Yes, I just had my VSG on the 29th April and my period came the day before. Let the nurse know so that they can give you underwear and pads. I was annoyed because it was 10 days early but it wasn't a big deal. It was funny when they asked when was my last period and my reply was NOW. lol. Good luck...

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Day 9. Ok 10 push ups completed and a 5 minute meditation via Calm. Bside - I was told no caffeine initially. Then we were allowed to have 1 caffeinated beverage a day provided we were getting our fluids in. That was about a month post-op. Mostly, I've been decaffeinated. And coffee....that means sugar and cream to me so I haven't been having any...but tea has always been my favorite.
  4. New here. Lots of amazing stories. My surgery date is 5/20/19. I’m trying to stick to the pre op diet. It says I can have strained broth and soup. I’m not sure what that means. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Can I have tomatoe soup? I appreciate any help. Thank you

    Let's talk about body dysmorphia

This is so real. On both ends. When I was big, I really didn't have an understanding of HOW big. 370 at 5 foot 9 is big. Now that I'm down to 185... I don't feel as small as I am. I went from a 52-54 pant to a 34. I went from 5xl shirts to a L. I look at my pants and stuff now and I'm like... PFFT those are too small. Yet, they fit just right. I've been told by a coworker that I give myself more room than I need to, like we were removing a monitor from a wall mount, there is a table in front it it with equipment, I leaned over the table and equipment to get to the mount, I was told that I was standing like 6 inches away from the table. I thought I was right on it. I had a time where I was in the gym, doing my own thing, headphones in etc. I saw someone walking towards me in the mirrors so I stepped to the side to avoid them.... it was me in the mirror I saw. It took me a few moments to fully realize what just happened. I saw someone that I did not recognize and I moved to allow them to pass... but that person that I didn't know. Was me. I'm told it gets better with time. My surgery was March 27th of 2018, I've been in the 180's since March 27th of 2019. So, yes it seems it's common. It's quite weird to experience.
  7. I got my date today, FINALLY! I will have my surgery on May 23, 2019 and I am ELATED! Finally, I know for certain. Anyone else May 23 twins?? Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

May Day #9: 10 pushups...done (half-heartedly)...i think i have a cold and feeling blah. I know my pushups were bad form, but still wanted to do them, do i did. Meditate: not really into meditation, except for like 2-3 minutes after yoga classes (which btw, i’m hopIng to get to tonight, if i don’t fall asleep) B-side: i was told no caffeine at first, then after my 1 month follow-up, I was given all clear to drink it up. Though I don’t drink much of it anyway. P.S. This morning went to the mall to replace a beloved hoodie because I’m swimming in the one I have been using. And its come to this: ended up buying a Child size Large because the Ladies small was too big. What is happening???

    April Sleevers

I tried the elliptical machine yesterday, and found that my energy was not enough and once I switched to walking on the treadmill I was able to walk for 40 minutes no problem. I will be doing the treadmill only for another couple of weeks. I also try to get in a lot of water the first part of the day before I switch to pureed food. VSG 29th April 2019.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Since my surgery on April 3rd I lost 22 lbs, SW 242, so less than 10%. I am a bit discouraged as I here much better results... I am eating my protein and vitamins but it’s very hard with the water, I simply forget to drink regularly. I started on solids some days ago and a lot just come back, especially the meat. I try to mix it with purees but still...I also feel low on energy and can hardly do my exercises. After exercising I feel just even more low, no endorphins rush for me. Frustrated and depressed, that sums it up for me
  13. I was sleeved on February 8, 2019 and for the first 2 to 3 weeks I found myself surprised that I was able to consume and tolerate foods so easily. I was always hungry and was literally going insane. I spent the first week at home literals looking up pictures of food because I couldn't stop thinking about it.I forced myself to maintain my calories between 300 to 400 during that time though. Once I gave it time, I found that I wasn't able to consume as much or as quickly. My biggest thing was learning how to control my hunger with water and protein shakes versus reaching for food all the time. Practice the no eating 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. The stomach acid is real so don't let that fool you. The first week is hell, the second week sucks, but it does get better. It's so early to be discouraged. Just stick to the restrictions and work the surgery. SW 233 / CW 178

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I was 187 on surgery day - I had been 192 and then lost a few lbs on the pre-op diet. I'm just about 162 now, so 25 lbs since surgery day. Nowhere near as much or as fast as a lot on here - but I have the PCOS, and my starting BMI was relatively low. I was wearing Size 16 and am now in 12s that are a bit loose - hope to be in Size 10 by the end of the month. (Bear in mind that US sizes are different and you have to add 4 to get the UK equivalent. I'm from the UK, so I'm fluent in both, LOL). At 158 lbs I'll be halfway to goal, and that is the milestone I'm working on right now. How is it all going for you at about a month out?? I’m from the UK as well 😀 So you’re fitting in a US size 10? Is that UK size 14 then? I haven’t had my surgery done yet, but it’s due in under 4 weeks now!! It’s really creeped up on me!

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I’m 5’3” and haven’t set a final goal yet. I weightlift, so that impacts my body comp. I really have no idea what size different weights will be. A size goal is an 8. But honestly? I’d be thrilled at a 10-12. So I’ll just work my plan and see how this goes.

    Considering DS

You said you wanted the ugly right? My mom had the DS and its not pleasant in the bathroom area. She's never been able to overcome extreme gas, pretty gross bathroom habits and IBS like symptoms. It was over 10 years ago and never improved.

    January 2019 Sleevers

I completely understand. I was sleeved 1/14/19. I started losing my hair around month 3. I am hoping, it will slow down soon. Before I lose it all. I am taking biotin, also started on collagen tablets. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  18. I had my surgery at 53 ten weeks ago and just turned 54. It was not the easiest recovery for me and I had minor bumps in the road, but I wouldn't change my decision to have surgery. I was very scared, even though I have had over 10 surgeries. But, trust your Dr and do what they say and I bet you will do great and come away very happy! I had a choice. Die on the path I was on or chose to do this to help prolong my life. Congrats & best wishes!

Hello! I have PCOS as well! How much have you lost since the surgery? I was 187 on surgery day - I had been 192 and then lost a few lbs on the pre-op diet. 20. Hello Everyone! My name is Ruby Hernandez. I am 18 years old and my VSG surgery is on May 13, 2019. It’s coming up so soon! I am becoming really frusturated with my 2-Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet. Tomorrow is Day 7 and I have already lost 9 lbs. I have not cheated at all throughout this whole diet and I would like to keep it that way. Any tips on how to avoid yourself from cheating? Thanks! 💜

    Too All Sleevers

Yes, I had the same problem for the first 10 days or so. Tmi, but was dark orange. I think it's pretty normal and should subside. Good luck!

    April Sleevers

I still feel quite weak and tired when I do much. I think this is largely because I'm still on liquids only. My surgeon advised that exercise should be limited to walking for six weeks rather than anything more high impact. VSG 27th April 2019
