My story: I was hungry and still am hungry almost 7 weeks post op. I see a lot of judgment on here and advice, so someone will probably tell you it's just reflux. I'm on a PPI and never had reflux prior and don't think I have it now. Talked with my NUT and she said it's probably just that my digestive system works quickly so I empty my sleeve quicker and eating some fat will help it "stick". Once I was back on regular food, it got better, but I'm still hungry - and NOT head hunger either! I now have (for example) an egg for Breakfast, with a piece of toast and some Peanut Butter on it and that seems to stick longer than yogurt or just an egg did. Some people have no hunger ever again. I am not that lucky! Hope it gets better for you - just know you're not alone. Best of luck to you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The night of surgery was tough due to the anesthesia and just being in the hospital. Stayed two nights due to elevated blood pressure. No Pain and No vomiting Gas at a minimum Only issue was reflux but I called my surgeon and he ordered liquid EX strength Zantac which has been a miracle. Also ordered a mixture called white slider which has kept me regular and able to tolerate my BP tablets crushed. I can walk just as well as I did prior to surgery. Back driving and looking forward to swimming when cleared. 5 days and 8 more pounds down. No Hunger pains yet but I would love some yogurt! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here. Just had my sleeve done on March 23rd! A little over a month past my 45th birthday - yay me! As much as I psyched myself out about the whole thing, recoup time, etc, I have to say it was a relatively easy recovery and just a tad over two weeks out, physically I feel great. Emotionally...? Feeling a bit discouraged. So like everyone else, I did my 5 day pre-op liquid diet...lost 5 lbs. On surgery day I was 300 and about a week and a half after surgery weighed 282. While I am very happy with that, as soon as I started re-introducing solid food - cottage cheese, baked fish, yogurt, etc (solid but soft foods) my weight ceased! The scale has not budged in 5 days and after weighing myself today I am UP 2 POUNDS. Huh??? I have followed what I should be eating/how much I should be eating, to the T. I've been exercising, getting my Water, etc. I should mention that I was self pay ((ouch)) so you can bet your buns I will do absolutely nothing to go off track and mess this up! I have too much invested. Literally. I put my scale away and will not weigh myself again for at least a week or two if I can hold off that long. I've read about people losing so much in the first month or two and after two weeks I'm already hitting a stall? I'm trying not to let it get me down, but it really has taken the wind out of my sails. I'm wondering now why I did this, and if I will be the statistic ....the small percentage of people that it won't be successful for! Ugh. =( Has anybody else encountered this so early after surgery? Thoughts on why this happens, and if you have experienced it - is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Thank you in advance for your feedback!! Have a great day everyone.

I'm going to try the plain nonfat greek yogurt. I have tried FF Cottage Cheese. It was ok, doable but I think I'd like to try something that is smoother like yogurt. I know people who love it with mustard, and these people are not on a weight loss program!! lol

Hi all, I'm 10 days into a 2 week pre op diet. I could choose from yogurts or milk ( so I chose yogurts). My question is- is there an 'optimum' amount of weight your surgeon would like you to lose? I've lost just over a stone... And I'm aiming for a stone and a half... I'm just worried that isn't going to be enough or my liver hasn't shrunk enough. Any advice or thoughts would be great- thanks! ???? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hmm, I might have to give Greek yogurt a try! Does it taste similar in tuna salad and the like, or do you end up adding vinegar/mustard for more tart taste?

Greek yogurt or mashed ripe avocado for me.

I was told to use Greek Yogurt.

Who was sleeved in January 2016?
Dummblond replied to kristennichole's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved January 26th. I'm having a hard time with depression. I'm only down 41 pounds and it's been really hard. I too get sick of the same foods but they're starting to grow on me. I don't care to go out but it's so hard to run errands and have that "hunger" pain. I get stressed out needing to eat certain foods. I only eat foods that need to be refrigerated so that's an extra pain. I workout, follow my diet etc... But 41 pounds... That's it... I too am nauseous all the time. I drink Protein shakes right when I wake up or have a high protein yogurt to help settle it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm also in week three and not gaining, but stalling. The advice I've seen is increase Protein (60 is on the low side for our diets) and increase Fluid. I'm not big on replacing all my refrigerator with low cal everything (mayo, cheese, etc) so I am careful when I eat actual foods. My calories increases by 100-200 in this stage because of that. I am going to add another shake or yogurt in the evenings and see if that helps. Good luck to you too. Are you exercising at all yet? I'm just walking and slow jogging to be safe now- but maybe some exercise could help move you along? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok- please no negative comments!! Saying that, I am in week 3 and I have gained a little weight. I know we shouldn't watch the numbers on the scale, but I didn't think I would gain. I am weighing twice per week. I am in mashed Protein and yogurt, averaging about 500 calories, 30 carbs and 60 protein with 64 oz of Water. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Most grocery stores sell Siggi, but it is a little pricy for yogurt. -

My NUT also recommended Siggi Yogurt but I didn't love it. I may give it another try just to be sure. But it's a nice change of pace anyway. I found it at Target. -

I hope you're using sugar-free chocolate milk and puddings. Getting hooked on sugar that early is not going to help with the long-term eating habits. But yes, sounds like you are trying to eat too much and too solid stuff. It doesn't matter if the diet they gave you said to start solids or mushy foods now; your sleeve is telling you it's not ready. So ease it back to more liquid stuff (yogurt and use milks to thin it down?) You might look into getting the high Protein milks like Fairlife or Mootopia (in Texas HEB stores). They are reduced sugar, high protein filtered milk (available in whole and 2%) and you can mix protein powders into them to give them even more of a punch. They won't taste super sweet - just like regular milk and would be a good way to get nutrients in easily. -

Honestly not sure why you are trying to eat so much at one time. My nut told me 1/4 cup of purées and yogurts at 3 weeks and that was all I could take. Even that would take me at least 1/2 hour to get down. So if you're trying to eat a half cup in 15 min three weeks out, perhaps you are just trying to eat like way too much. Protein shakes are what they are and you gotta do a lot of them the first few weeks. -

My nut recommended Siggi yogurt. All natural , high protein low sugar. Thick like Greek yogurt but not sweet . I love it! -
Just getting back in the digesting well phase. Anyone else experience issues after they have had an oral antibiotic? I was well and then had sinus infection. Treated with amoxicilin 10 days and boy oh boy... acid reflux and upchuck queen here. I did the probiotic gummies and ate yogurt. Still a mess for 3 weeks. I must say I am down 12 pounds so at 10 pounds below goal wt. But not worth the icky stomach issues. The last 4 days I have been able to drink plenty and eat about 2 cups of food total a day. More like my old self. Feeling content and normal today~ YIPPEE and thankful. I do think stress is a culprit for me as well. Life is joyfilled and we have so many blessings! I need to get back in the exercise program . It is warming up here next week so to the push plow in the garden I go!

What can I do with...Protein powder?
Daisee68 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Food and Nutrition
I add 1/2 scoop of vanilla powder to Dannon LIght & Fit Greek Yogurts (strawberry Cheesecake or Key Lime are my favorites). I also add 1/2 scoop of chocolate powder to a sugar free Dark Chocolate pudding cup to make my own Protein pudding and it is oh so yummy! A little runny but still tastes good. Look forward to ideas! Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl for starting these topics! -

I too love my protein powder with yogurt. Protein mug cake is delicous. You could probably whip up some cottage cheese and protein powder for a thicker consistency add applesauce or fruit on top. -

If you purchase a zero sugar or no added sugar yogurt any of the sugar grams are naturally occuring in the yogurt itself, you can't get away from it. The whipped greek yogurt that I have had, sorry can't remember the brand, I think dannon is delicious and comes in all sorts of flavors, the coconut one is yummy! -
@@anitavee - keep phrase is to "sip" walk, walk, walk sip, sip, sip chew, chew, chew get in Protein if you can, spoonful at a time of greek yogurt. don't try to eat too much - less is best right now, because one extra bite can be uncomfortable. keep posting and welcome to the 'other side' !

How long before a BM? 9 days post op
cdsjjotn replied to RellaBelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had the diarrhea within a couple of days then no BI for a good 2 wks. After I started solid food it was about once a week if I was lucky. After talking to the dr, I take duralax every night and add a fiber power to my water and yogurt everyday , I do much better now and go a couple times each week. Good luck -
I followed up with my NUT and gave her the example of what I am eating she said any Calcium (yogurt, 1-2oz soft cheese, milk ect) does not count as a meal and I can add Protein powder to it for my daily goal but I should have 3 servings of calcium a day and as for my meals - it is normal that I can "hold" 4-5oz right now but she wants me to aim for 1-3oz instead bc my pouch is still healing. I have stopped eating as I was before & started doing only 1-3oz 1x a day and just protein shakes the rest of the time. Sent from my Z970 using the BariatricPal App
