  1. Hey , I had severe reflux before my sleeve in October 2016.After surgery only 6 weeks of relief from the reflux and then it was way worse than before to the point of taking 10 pills a day instead of 2. I am currently waiting for approval from my insurance companies for the RNY revision surgery and was just diagnosed with barrett's esophagus due to the reflux getting soooooo much worse. I can't wait to get the surgery done and praying for approval. Congratulations on your journey and your surgery appointment. Keep updating us on your progress. Oh i did lose 87 lbs the first year but gained 22 back. Still fighting to get the extra back off. Allie in SC

    2019

And I wonder this far into 2019 if anyone is still following their resolutions? I do well for a while, really plan to keep up keeping up, but I guess I'm more human than I like to admit. Things seem to fall by the wayside!

    Problems with MGB

I had the same thing happen to me. I am hoping for my revision June 10. Severe reflux, a large pouch on the sleeve and a hernia. When I was complaining of the reflux my doctor said it was my fault because I gained weight. I have something sticking out of my stomach and he just said I don't know what it is. Thank God he did an upper GI and Endoscopy and found my problem. Sent from my LGLS991 using BariatricPal mobile app

    12 tablets a day h.pylori

Know a little bit of how you feel, been on the same basic level of diet for 10 months nearly due to strictures, ulcerations, only blessing was I am negative for H Pylori. Ask,my Bariatric Dietician just the other day " Will I ever grow past puree and Mechanical Soft diets?" Roy just laughed, yeah I have a Male Dietician, but he's still believing the day Will come! And he told me to stop centering on what i can't do and be grateful for all the good facets of my post- surgical life. I am thinner, more able to move around, and so I am in a much better place than I was Spring 2018.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hi all. I had surgery April 3 at 260 lbs and am down 19 lbs. Frustrated last two weeks as my body is changing but I am down from losing 5 lbs a week to 2 lbs a week. I am getting all water, protein, vitamins and walking 3 miles/day. I’m eating 800 calories/day. I know it’s not a stall but I am surprisingly down about it this morning. Big sigh.
  7. Hey Sleevers! Just wondering, is anyone else having a Veritcal Sleeve surgery this month? My surgery is on May 13 (two days before my birthday). Let me know! 💜 P.S If you already had surgery this month, let me know how it went! 🌸

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

May Day #10: 10 pushups: Still feeling sick, I didn't want to do 10 pushups, so I did 5 this morning and 5 just now. And they weren't very well done either. But thats my 10 for today, so there. Yoga: I didn't go to class last night, and I wrote off today for any classes as well. I did, however, do a couple cat and cow poses, as well as 1 good 60 second-ish child pose after this evening's set of 5 pushups just to stretch. And that's my yoga for today, so there. I think I'm grumpy.

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Day 10. I went to a yoga class that was more advanced than I am, but I hung in there. Had a really good week overall, looking forward to the weekend.
  11. @Panda333 I’m a sleeve five years out maintaining in the 130’s. I am type one diabetic. My surgeon suggested the sleeve because there are times, I need to eat sugar to raise my blood sugars. WIth the sleeve, my intestines are not altered, I don’t have dumping syndrome with sugar. I am now well controlled and hardly use insulin. I want people that are researching weight loss surgery to know, many of us have had no complications and have maintained years out. Weight gain or need for a revision does not happen to all of us. Do your research, trust your surgeon’s advice do what’s best for you. Any type of bariatric surgery may need a revision due to complications, surgery not performed correctly, eating to the point of stretching your surgery (big debate on this issue) Grazing/eating around your surgery, eating disorders, or simply not following your surgeons plan. Only my opinion: For some, the sleeve is the wrong choice for them. Things I wish people knew about the sleeve. Your sleeve restriction will become less over time. you can hold more food. (it’s not back to full size) Long term success will be diet and behavior change. Just because you have more space does not mean you have to eat over your calories and macros to gain weight. If your surgeon has diagnosed that you stretched your surgery. Get counseling before a revision to make sure you don’t stretch a second surgery. Your intestines are not altered with the sleeve. Most of us can tolerate sugar without dumping. If sugar is an issue for you, investigate surgeries that give you dumping syndrome. You will feel real and head hunger at times (true with any surgery type) Hunger is more manageable after surgery. age 45 day of surgery 2014 - age 50 2019

    12 tablets a day h.pylori

May I ask some questions? How and why did you get this? I was treated for 14 days with CIPRO for SIBO (Small intestine bacteria overgrowth). It’s reared it’s ugly head again and it’s nerve wracking. I feel like I will never get to eat “normally” again and I will live with constipation, diarrhea and nausea forever, not to mention that forever may not be a long time since these issues can cause life threatening vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The overwhelming fatigue, depression, hunger, anxiety...it’s been hard. I read in a medical publication that SIBO in roux-en-y GBS patients is a result of the “left over” bypassed intestine becoming a holding area for bacteria since the intestinal walls are not moving anything there anymore. If you’re out of compliance (like me), you eat almost anything without any visible effects, not understanding or needing to be reminded of the fact that sugars, gluten, etc will bind to the intestinal walls and make them weak so that food can’t move and get broken down and absorbed as they should, nor as quickly as they should. It just basically sits in this highway until the “accident” is cleared and traffic can start moving again. Roux-en-y produces a malabsorption digestive system for us so if the calories and nutrients can’t get thru, broken down and absorbed properly then we run into problems with malnutrition, dehydration, and even anorexia. I was not aware that this could be an issue prior to having surgery. Would it have changed my decision to go thru with it? Hell no! I would do it again 10 times over. But it would have made me more cognizant that I have work and diligence to put in for the rest of my life if I want to live to be 100. So please make sure you drink your water, forget the simple sugars and carbs (sweets, fried foods and snacks, breads). They are not worth your life. Cook your veggies, fruit in moderation and cut in small pieces (tropical fruit should be a celebratory treat), and gluten free pastas and breads. Liquids 20 minutes before or after eating, and chew thoroughly (into a liquid consistency) before swallowing. There are apps, including this one, with reminders of when to eat, how much to eat, recipes made just for us, and even when to start and stop chewing before swallowing. I feel most miserable at this stage after 15 years of feeling great. Any help to come my way or just some support would be so appreciated. I feel a little bit like I’m alone in an adult swimming pool at the deep end with a cramp in both legs while all the kids (newbies) are in the wading pool with their wings on and having a great time (as they should!) ♥️ I mean that as a warm compliment, by the way 🙏🏼

    App getting to goal

First off, Congratulations on your 50+ weight loss, way to go friend! I lost a pretty good amount of weight also during pre-op diet (14 lbs) but gained 10 back right after surgery, from the IV fluid. So yeah, I go by the pre-op weight minus my current weight = success and joy...😂 I understand how you feel about getting discouraged easily, I try to focus on the positive. I have so much more energy now, my blood pressure is controlled, I'm walking my dog every day...plus I like what I see in the mirror more and more every day 😅❤️ We got this!

    Gastric sleeve post op

It took 10 days for me to go. Fleet suppository is the only thing that worked for me.
  18. Well, I'm feeling a wee bit discouraged. Had my second endoscopy today. First one was ten days ago. Surgeon said I was the worst case he had ever seen in 19 years of practice. Not a statistic I wanted to hear. They couldn't perform any stretching because of ulcerations and swelling, so he gave me a large dose of steroids and they woke me up. They want to get the opening to 11 mm, and mine is around 8 right now. They can't get the 9mm scope thru the opening. He says is repeat endoscopies don't work we will have to wait 4 months and re operate to redo the connection between my pouch and intestines. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    March Bypass Buddies

I was 237 the day before my liquid diet, 226 on surgery day (3/26/19) and I’m 202 today. I had the bypass. 24 pounds lost in 6 weeks and 2 days. So, I guess I am losing a half a pound each day.
  23. They gave me the shots in the hospital and then I had to take a blood thinner pill for 10 days after surgery that they gave me
