  1. I'm sorry to hear this. I had my band removal and revision at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. They are very big on post op care. Have you called surgeon's office? Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App
  2. My doctor told me revisions lose slower. I'm just happy to be losing again Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App
  3. Hi all. On 4/19 had band removed and bypass. Took about five days for gas pain to go away, after that not much pain thankfully. Hope you are all doing well:) Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

    May bypass group!

My surgery is in 13 days... I am also freaking out, had my pre op blood work and EKG today and have my surgery clearance spot with my internal med doc on Tuesday... Then pre op with surgeon on 9th. Time seems to be going fast... I am noticing I am having somewhat difficult time mentally on this liquid diet, it's sad how much food is has a hold of me... All the cravings are kicking in just because i can't have it at the moment and I know it's just my head... Trying to really pay attention to it and change my way of seeing food and and keep staying busy. I told someone today about my surgery and they asked me if I am excited... I feel like I can't get excited because I know it will be tough and since I am revision from lap band I am scared I won't lose my extra weight... Wow....guess i needed to let things out here lol
  5. I originally had the sleeve and regained about 35 pounds and had a lot of acid reflux, before and after the sleeve. I just had revision to mini bypass on March 31. If I had the chance to do it over again I would definitely choose the bypass the first time and not mess with the sleeve. The sleeve works great for some people but for me it just didn't work or last like I had hoped it would. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

  7. I got denied twice, called lindstrom and they gave me great advice. EVERYONE is entitled to 2 denials then you may ask for an external review . Please don't give up. My revision from band to rny is happening in 3.5 days. Good luck to you

    Revision

I had revision on March 2nd and all is well actually couldn't be better. I've had a couple of stalls which was to be expected but things are moving in the right direction now....32 lbs down in all . I feel great and recommend the procedure to anyone that had no success with the lap band. I see you are Louisiana like me........my clinic is in Lafayette and am very pleased with them. Good luck.

  11. Has anyone had a revision done due to not enough weight loss? I feel like I may need this done.
  12. GOOD for you! I am 63 y/o. RNY 9/03 and lost 108 lb. Was stupid and put back about 70 so had a revision 10/08. Starting in 2010, had face lift, bracioplasty, tummy tuck, inner thigh lift, and circumfrential body lift. The most wt. I lost was from the inner thigh lift and that was about 8 lbs. Don't recall ANY significant change with TT, wt. wise. But 63 or not; it makes a huge difference in the way the body looks and the way I feel; like I'm in my 40s again!! Do know that the scars are the consequense and at our age, they won't fade as much as with young folks. That's the pay back. For me, it was worth it. And if you're healthy the anesthesia shouldn't be that big a factor. Keep up with you vitamins/minerals/water and some exercise to avoid any blood clots. Good luck. Hope this helps.

    Failure [emoji22]

Thank you all for replying I was having some issues with my stomach for about six of those months after I got the bypass so a surgeon did a scope and said my stomach was in pretty bad shape (well his actual words were it looks like shit) so I am now diagnosed with severe gastritis on top of the severe reflux that I've already had. So it's been a struggle. They don't seem to know why I've only lost twenty pounds since my revision. My surgeon is in Mexico so I've just been following up with my family dr she's ran blood test and some of my vitamins came back low so I'm on injections and supplements for those now. I don't get a lot of protein in maybe 60-70 grams how do you guys get so much in? Thanks for your suggestions and input. If I get back on the right track do you think I'll start losing again?
  14. I've been a poster child for the perfect sleeve surgery and recovery these past 4 months. Lost almost more than average, and am able to eat anything. A few days ago, I started getting more acid reflux and actual pain in my stomach, mostly my left side. I'm going through a major (good) life change that had me super stressed out this week. My surgeon thinks I'm producing more acid because of stress, and put me on carafate for 2 weeks. I'm feeling a little better today, but I'm scared. I didn't have any stomach pain, even right after surgery. I've not had one regret with this surgery, but now I'm wondering, what if my reflux gets worse? What if it does damage, like an ulcer or Barretts esophagus. What if I eventually need a revision? I knew these risks going in (I had reflux for years before), but I'm managing it now with an h2 blocker, which would have never gave me relief before surgery, so it's a great improvement. Anyways, I'm rambling because for the first time, I'm scared that this pain won't go away. I'm hoping this was all just brought on by stress.
  15. Ok I'm a complete failure and don't know what to do or what my options are. In 2013 I had the sleeve I lost 80 plus pounds but I stopped losing and I had more I needed to lose. So in 2015 I went in and had my sleeve revised to the gastric bypass. I only lost twenty pounds in a year. I'm so frustrated so I kinda gave up and went back to my bad habits. I weighed and I'm starting to gain my weight back I'm scared and don't want to gain it back so I did the 5 day pouch test and it didn't do anything. I don't get sick with anything and no longer have any restriction. I am hoping that there is something I can do. Any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it.
  16. So I'm having my 7 year old lapband revised to rny in 4 days ( excited, scared to death, determined ) and I was in my nutrition meeting and she said never ever drink caffeine again, the next day was my final appt with my surgeon and he said that I can have my coffee right after surgery and use protein powder in to replace my creamer. They also disagree on the number of meals, one says 3 healthy meals of protein and the other says add 2 tiny protein snacks in between meals . Please help clear the confusion . I want to heal perfectly and do my part to make that happen
  17. Tomorrow marks my 1 yr anniversary of my lap band to sleeve revision (4/30/15). Best thing I ever did! It has been a great year with a lot of changes. I am down 105lbs (166 since lap band). I'm still losing, just slower and I am good with that. I actually ran a 5k last weekend. A year ago I could barely walk a mile. I feel so much more confident and comfortable in my sagging skin (skin surgery coming up next year). I feel like a normal person now not driven by food and enjoying being active. I have attached a couple before/after pics. The first one is a year ago and today. And the 2nd one is pre band and today.

How Did You Decide On A Goal Weight?

I'm 6'2" and I started at 350lbs. I set my goal when I got my band to 200lbs. I reached 190lbs and now getting my revision my dr says he thinks I could get down to 180-175. It makes me nervous because looking at the pictures of me from my lowest weight I felt I looked like I was at a perfect weight. We shall see tho. It gets addicting when you pass your goal weight. For me I wanted to keep pushing to see how far I could go. It's scary Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I'm just wondering if anyone out there was or has a lapband with a plication. I was told by my PA that she doesn't think the sleeve is an option after having the plication with band. Has anyone ever had one after a band with plication? Or what revision have you had?
  20. Sorry it has taken awhile for me to response. I am still planning to have the Lap Band removed. My surgeon suggested a revision, I declined. Delay in surgery has been relating to abnormal labs. As of this month, my physician moved his office to another city, a couple of days after I had submitted new test results. He referred his patients to the other surgeons that were in his group. I called the office, but as yet there has been no respond. Contact has been made with his new office staff, no respond as yet. This will be an added expense; it seems I cannot win for losing… I often question, why I allowed damage to be done to this beautiful body that God had blessed me with. Why did I not work harder to control the medical issues that were plaguing my health??? I guess most of us has asked the same questions. If anyone obtain information regarding a Class Action Law Suit please let me know. Thanks for support

    Sleeve or band

I have had the band for 9 years and am scheduled to have revision to bypass in 2 weeks (omg!) I cannot weight to get it removed and I would also not recommend anyone getting it. Yes some people were successful with it and love it but it seems most are not, I was never a fan of having foreign item in my body but I was too scared to go with bypass the first time around, I wish I did though. The decision is yours but I would not go with band.
  22. I had surgery in 2006 and lost 280 pounds over all over the course of six years… In the past three years I gained back 90 pounds… Last year I had an endoscopy and upper G.I. and they discovered I had a hiatal hernia and some staple adhesions… And recommended a revision… The surgeon I went to told me that he could leave the new smaller stomach and they now remove the excess old stomach… They no longer leave your stomach in there or he doesn't… And doing my research I understood a revision patient usually loses 2 to 3 pounds a month… My doctor said when he got in there… He found a fistula which was a complication from the first surgery which most likely cause my weight gain… A week after surgery… Today I got on the scale and I lost 13 pounds… Was totally shocked and not expecting that so I am wondering since I had that fistula this new revision is kickstarting my weight loss and I will see great success question? Anyone that had a revision care to share their weight-loss story with me after the revision Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Decisions Decisions

I dont know anything about the balloon but I do have an experience of a lapband, what happened when the fill was removed and then what happened when the unfilled band was removed... my hunger went through the roof. I didn't even think I had any restriction/help from the band after all those years but once it was removed I had to work very hard to not gain weight as I was just so hungry. I suspect that if you are lower BMI/not as far advanced in the "obesity disease process" it isnt such a serious issue, but for me, I needed a permanent "aid" or else I am like a bottomless pit with an abnormal appetite. As far as who posts on forums - I agree it is very unbalanced. You have the very excited - people in the honeymoon phase making it seem like everything is awesome as the weight is falling off so fast. You have the people who are struggling - with true complications or with their own personal struggles to adapt. What you seldom hear from are the vast majority of "in betweeners" who tend to go on with their lives. I am quite sure many of them experience some level of regain because look at the stats... for the bypass people maintain something like 60-65% excess weight loss several years post op. My band to sleeve revision was 4.5 years ago, but I hang on because I have a lifetime of regaining/failing at maintenance and posting here keeps my brain tuned into the fact that I need to remain mindful, diligent and that I always have new things to learn! Anyway, forums are great for support, learning how to deal with certain things, getting perspectives, but if you want to understand success rates - peer reviewed studies are the way to go.
  24. Had the band removed last week, revised to sleeve. I'm on my way to the dog park with the cutie in my profile picture. I feel incredible. Going to buy plants on the way home. Yes, I feel that good. I think so much is mental because that broken plastic band is goners. I am, however, incredibly glad for the people who have them and they work. I mean it. Good for you and good for your band- whatever gets us there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. I just received approval for my band to sleeve revision. Can you please tell me how bad the pain was? My dr told me that it will be very sore around the port area and that overall it is a more intense surgery than a straight sleeve. Plus I must keep in the back of my head that if the scar tissue is too bad, he won't sleeve me the same day, so I may wake up unsleeved.
