  1. NSV= non scale victory I know when I first read it, I wondered what it was too. LOL Thanks for the encouragement.
  2. WhooooHooooo! Simply AWESOME Shanda ! Keep up the fabulous work! By the way, what is NSV :blushing:?
  3. Hey guys! I am so excited to give you all an update of my newly sleeved progress. Although, these last few wks have been challenging, when I got on the scale this morning, it was ALL worth it. I am down 22 LBS since being sleeved, I cant believe it! I have not lost that much weight before. I am 80 lbs before I reach my goal. Below are thing that I feel have been working for me: 1. Ive been working out everyday 2. Drinking at least 70 oz of Water for the last 5-6 days (im finally able to drink an adequate amt of fluid) 3. I have found a Protein supplement that I can tolerate: (pro to go's creamsicle protein drink- just add water and there ya go. It has 15 grams of protein in it, around 80 calories, around 7 carbs. I drink about 3 per day. Then for the rest of my protein I add the unjury's unflavored protein to my Soups, Jello, etc. Oh yeah and I have an NSV. I went to a restaurant to get some Soup (as I was tired of that ones that ive been having). They gave me an 8 ounce cup for my soup. I got home, took about 5-6 tsps full and WAS STUFFED! Can you believe that. That 8 oz will probably be my lunch and dinner today! What I am finding is that water easily goes down but when the item is thicker (such as cream of chicken soup, etc) I get full so much quicker. I just had to share my first scale and NSV's with you all. I know that its not likely my weight loss will continue at this rate but im glad that I got a good start with it. ONEDERLAND will soon be here in about 20 lbs, so im looking so forward to that! Thanks for listening to me rant.......:patriot:
  4. Love this post! I, too, teach, but I teach college-aged kids. When one of them told me my clothes were too baggy this week, I decided to go buy some new black pants. The old ones were size 22--and too tight before surgery. The ones I bought Thursday were size 16. I haven't worn a size 16 for more than 10 years. The kicker is that I went ahead and bought only one pair because they were comfortable, not snug, so I know I won't be wearing them for long! Love to hear everyone's NSVs!
  5. I am now in a size 11/12 juniors. I'm so stoked!! I even got into an addidas jacket I haven't worn in years. I'm big into sports and have a ton of sporty clothing I haven't been able to wear and now I can!

    Twenties NSVs

I don't know why I never posted this, but a couple weeks ago, I had a HUGE NSV... ... I had a lot of awesome expensive clothes I used to fit into a couple years ago, but I outgrew. Well, I gave them away to a bunch of friends to "hold onto" until I lose the weight and can wear them again. Well, that time has come and I got to reclaim them. My friends were upset that they don't get to wear my clothes anymore, but they were proud of me at the same time. ... does that make me an Indian giver??? :scared2:

I hate it when people post just to post.....

~Wow! A couple of my posts from the 23rd are missing! Wonder how that happened?! And WHY???? ~Slim, you have every right to be proud of yourself! You are NOT a failure! You've lost 76lbs this last year! I am so proud of you!!!! HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!!!! ~Crzy, I am SO sorry that you've caught the H1N1! I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Sorry about you having to miss the training session too. That sucks! ~Oh Kristen! I feel horrible for you! I'm so sorry! ~Fab, best wishes with dinner AND your hair!! :scared2: One reason why I don't color my hair anymore. Too scary and too damaging! ~Suzy, have fun tonight! PJTP: Completely forgot an NSV from the dr appt the other day. Haven't been able to take my BP med all week so figured it'd be a little high when they took it on Wed. Well, it was 101/72!!!!! WhooHoo! I'll keep monitoring it but I'm going to e-mail my PCP and let him know I'm off of it and don't plan to restart it any time soon! Eventually I'll probably have to go back on it b/c of BOTH sides of my family history but hopefully not for a good long time! WI this AM and am down from what I weighed a few weeks ago. Didn't gain it ALL back from being sick but a good portion of it. I'm okay with that. I'm just happy to be able to eat and drink again!! Have a great afternoon/evening! BBL!

    NSV shout outs

The most awesome and emotional NSV Shout Out. Tonight I was able to fit my grandmother's wedding ring on my finger for the first time since she gave it to me just before she passed away. That was over 4 years ago. It was unable to be up-sized, so it just sat in my safe deposit box. I figured some day I would give it to my daughter. I was at the box today for something totally unrelated and figured, why not try it? It slid right on! I cried for joy! It's beautiful. I don't think I'll ever take it off. Of course, it's on my right hand, not to be confused with an actual wedding ring. :-)
  9. Wow, that is really impressive! Congratulations!!!! That's a very IMPORTANT NSV!!! I need to have mine checked again. It was still stuck on 5.9 last time, but I'm really hoping it has gone down.
  10. Yippie! I just got my HgbA1C results! It's 5.3. That means my average blood sugar is running 110. I am thrilled! Before losing weight, I was pre-diabetic and I couldn't get my A1C below 5.6. It just wouldn't budge! Another NSV! I love NSV's!!!
  11. Grats to all of you. Tap - A size 8? Wow! What a truly wonderful NSV. That's gotta help motivate you. Yay. Enjoy your trip. SLG - Way to go! You have to be just glowing. I think that's even better than the losing 100 pounds mark. Shiny - I bet it feels so good to be losing a good chunk of weight again. I know you were fighting up and down for a while. Keep it up. Nicole - Glad to hear your surgery went well. Hope this helps you to be more comfortable and to get enough nutrition to keep up your running pace. I think I'd be scared to death without the band. Did you really feel hungry right away? Well, I know you can handle it. You've done really, really well with the program.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

I'm here! I'm doing really well. I'm enjoying this fall weather and keeping crazy busy. I made a really awesome cake this week. I'll attach a picture of it. Ckktwallace, the situation you are in would really scare me. Do you have a specific plan for your eating and fitness in order to help you make good choices? Won't that be amazing when you are able to keep at your goal weight by your efforts? You can do it! Tap, Awesome NSV with the size 8 pants! Woo hoo! STLGal, that would drive me crazy to have my port at my beltline. Maybe you can just wear high-waisted pants? Anyway, I can imagine you just being grateful for your band at all at this point. Since starting the Body for Life stuff at the beginning of September I'm down 7-9 pounds. That is the most weight I have lost in a very long time. I need to be more careful on the eating part of the program. I wast stricter at first which is when most of that weight came off. Hope you have a great weekend.

Oh man this is going to be long! First off tho, thank you so much, all of you, for your concern. I'm doing MUCH better. Still haven't eaten since dinner Wed night BUT I am getting water in. This AM, well Sat AM, since it's after midnight now, I was able to drink chocolate milk. Later in the day on the trip home, I bought a frapp lite and nursed that all afternoon/evening. DD and I got home about 5:30, a day early as we pushed thru Friday with a 10.5 hr trip from Oregon to Sacramento. DD caught my 24hr bug but was done with it in 12! Woke up Sat AM like she'd never been sick Whew! I'm still REALLY tight but since I was able to get liquids in Sat, I'm going to try soup later today. I will be calling my nurse first thing Mon AM if I'm still really tight and having a hard time eating the soup. I PROMISE!!! It was so hard being, not only out of town but out of STATE! And my surgeon is out of the country right now so if I do go in this week, I'll be seeing his fill-in. I'm going to be double-checking everything that happened with my surgeon once he gets back. I don't want to let it go. I want to make sure that I'll be okay. Okay, now for my multi-post from hell! :blushing: ~Pooly, sheep smashing = LOL!! ~Kat, deer, I totally understand! That's why my garden is in a dog kennel this year! We've not been using the fencing and I needed something quick so we set it up. It's 10x12x4ft, cyclone fencing. Ugly but serving a good purpose! LOL! So glad to hear news of Paula! I'm glad she called you. Woodcutting, we SO have to get on that but it's been so bloody hot here that the cutting areas are still closed! Cutting season ends Nov 30th, we're running out of time! ~Tap, nice notice on the conference! Have a safe trip. We'll miss you!!! Glad the eyes are getting better! Nice job on the pants!!! WTG!!! ~Slim, sorry about the eatery but nice NSV! I've doing a lot of the "last year would've" stuff. Nice change isn't it? ~Glouc, so excited for you on the job front! It's nice to finally have some good job news around here!!! The soup you taste tested sounds wonderful! ~Kristen, did you have fun at the party? DD is getting an adult sized reality check! Just wait til she's on her own! Sounds like the shopping was fun! ~Ebony, how did your event go today? Glad you and DH are working things out. ~Lu, nice job on the mountain biking! WTG! ~Beth, sorry for the lost study day! Thanks again for the PM. ~KC, so was the mojito dinner or was that just the side dish? WTG on the 18 mile walk!! Okay, so I decided to just obliterate everyone's posts and do shout-outs instead! Now I'm off to bed! 'Night everyone!!

    NSV shout outs

Oh Gosh Chancie, thanks to you, I went shopping for a pair of Jeans at Dress Barn, cause they have plus sized that look fasionable. And, my old jeans were fallling off me and looked down right ratty...well, lo and behold, I squeezed into a 14W! Yeah, they are stretch to fit and pretty snug, but they zip up and look much better. Then I tried on a 1x top and it was a little big! So, I snuck over to the misses reg sized and grabbed one in XL. The sales lady asked if she could help me, and I made up an excuse I was buying a gift for my sister. As if I still feel like a 2nd class citizen who doesn't belong in "their" side of the store. Gosh, I tried it on, it at little too tight, but I bought it, because I know with the sleeve, it will fit eventually. Okay, another NSV. My ex & I still have a Macy's card together. I am charging a bunch of size 2. And, they letting him get the bill.hahahah. I may not be there yet, but I will. I think living well is the best revenge. Don't let those demons get you. I have them also. Dr. C told he wants my goal to be 125 and I guess I got scared look on my face. He said, "what's the matter, don't you want to weigh 125 Stephanie?"...it reminded me of how vulnerable I feel at that weight. But you know what, we are strong adult women now. Don't let them win.

    NSV shout outs

Hey, I just realized a couple NSV! My CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) seems to have disappeared along with the depression. I was going through my old journal, and I was amazed how this has all slipped away. Who would have believed it! It might be that I no longer eat refined carbs (flour/sugar) and am following a healthy regime now. It's like a 180* turn around. I thinks it true, we actually are becoming new people. Maybe that is why others may feel insecure about our weight loss. We are changing to be better version ourselves. Praise be!

Tap~ What a great NSV! Single digit clothes - WOW! Glouc~ What a relief. Sounds like you will be working with a great group of people - makes the job so much easier. And no princess! Crzy~ Welcome! Fish makes me gag! Beth~ Hope you are feeling ok, sounds like you tied one on last night! Heart~ Hope you are feeling better, sounds like the flu. It is horrible to get sick like that when you are away from home. PJTP: I have a DECA event today with the kids and we are having a water war and a huge slip n slide - I am going to go for it! Can't wait - it is on a hill and looks like so much fun! The FB boys did it a couple of weeks ago before school started and I just wanted to run out and join in, but thought better of it - DS probably would have been a bit embarassed. Haha, he will be there today! But now he is on my playing field! Took DD shopping for necessities last night. She was so funny. She didn't think of all the things that she just takes for granted, they just show up and she uses them. She was pushing the cart and I was following along, she got in the spirit of being a poor college student and was checking prices, etc. Aww, she is all grown up and I am going to miss her. Well, I better finish up some housework and get busy. Have to be at school to get set up and get the BBQ fired up for the parent meeting after we have some fun. Hope everyone has a great day!

    NSV bikeride to Lake Tahoe!

So today hubby and I drove the car to Squaw Valley, parked the car got the bikes off the back and rode the bikes 9 miles (uphill) to Tahoe City (North Lake Tahoe). Just two months ago I wouldn't have even dared. We had lunch (a cup of chili for me) looked around at the sites and rode the bikes the 9 miles back to the car. It was such a beautiful day and a great accomplishment to know I can once again do all the fun things that make life worth living! I just wanted to share this with all my friends and support here at lapband central. The other great thing is now when I go out I am not obsessing about when, where and what I will eat. I eat to nourish my body, what a difference. Did I say I LOVE MY BAND! Thanks for listening and tell me about your great victories. Suzanne:thumbup:

    Twenties NSVs

I have two NSV's to post! 1. Got my hair cut...no chopped off...SHORT! Like above my shoulders! This is a big deal for me because I've always had super long hair that I wore down...like a shield or security blanket covering my body or something. The biggest amazing thing is that I'm comfortable not having my hair to hide behind and *gasp!* might actually even like my new hair style! lol 2. People have been noticing the weightloss! I've seriously had like 10 different people comment on how good/how much thinner I'm looking over the past week or so. Feels so good! Especially since my scale hasn't been moving much lately and I've been feeling so frustrated lately. Two great NSV's! Looking forward to more throughout this process!
  24. Brandy~

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

I have had so many NSV's that I have randomly posted around I can't remember them all but my favorite of all time and I see it alot... I can fit in an airplane seat comfortably and do up the seat belt without an extender and my DH still has lots of room in his seat because I am not spilling into it!
  25. Sooverit!

    Can You Feel The Band?

NSV- non scale victory = "My clothes fit better but the scale doesn't notice" - My cholesterole is down 20 pts,, I can do a yoga pose I couldn't do 5 months ago, I feel so much more confident, etc., etc...the list goes on and the scale doesn't budge. Scales are an inaccurate way of moderating health and fitness!!!!
