At my first one (which was several months into my weight loss journey but a few months before surgery) I was over 55%. My current body fat per my home scale is 48.7% (by my home scale in May it was 57%). I don't know about these pictures. My semi-ex boyfriend has a 6% body fat and he just looks really scrawny, no muscles at all. He is strong, but there's no six pack or anything. Certainly no pectoral definition (or arm definition for that matter).

Good on you for taking some steps towards a healthier life, and congrats on the weight loss so far! Talk to your neurologist maybe about some exercises that are tailored to your abilities or ask to work with a physical therapist.

I would definitely track calories. It's the only way to know for sure how much you're eating. Make sure you're getting 60 g of protein (or more depending on your activity level/height, etc). Drink enough, because you need the fluid and also fluid will help you from feeling hungry. It's best to limit added sugar (you can see added sugars on the nutrition label) and avoid grazing. Start with protein, then veggies, then whole grains. Re-gain is incredibly common, so don't beat yourself up. Just go back to making the best choices you can. You're aiming for progress, not perfection!

Hello all! I definitely am protecting the pouch! The most strenuous thing I’ve had is 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt! :) I broke my stall today! I’m now 244.6 with a 2 pound weight loss!! I’m so happy! Definitely thinking the fact that I hit my liquid goal yesterday had to do with the loss. Staying hydrated is super important! My meals yesterday… 20 oz coffee Protein Drink (fairlife coffee flavor with Starbucks blonde cold brew black coffee) 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt About 4 oz of a creamy puréed chicken bacon potato Soup. And lots of water! Today I’ll be taking my Christmas tree down. Well- everything but the actual tree due to the weight restriction. Then I’ll go walk at the gym. Only today and tomorrow left of my medical leave. Back to work on Saturday night. :) -
Day After Reversion from RSG to Bypass

Oh throw that scale out the window for at least the first month and just focus on healing and transitioning. Weight doesn't matter at this point. -
My feeling is for the first few months follow your surgeon's and dietician's guidelines. From there once you've transitoned to solid foods you can work what works for you to lose weight (I wish we could talk about fat instead of weight) in a healthy way. In saying that, there are is a varitey advice from surgeons and dieticians...but none that recommends eating what you like three days out...please anyone who is new to this site or weight loss surgery...please disregard the approach of eating what you like three days out! There are medical reasons for not doing this. Your stomach healing is at risk, and just because one person didn't experience complications from eating 'what they liked' doesn't mean you won' t.

Hello Danna, Welcome to this wonderful site and all the great advice in it. Well done on the weight loss so far.. My anxiety has improved at every pound I have lost and it feels amazing. I went away for a week by the sea with friends last week and truly never once felt anxious or that everyone was watching me. Good luck on your journey

Find a counselor who deals with weight issues and/or bariatric patients. Both my counselor and my psychiatrist have heavy concentrations working with people who've had WLS, so they understand my issues. -
I am 4 years old and strict with getting in my protein first and foremost. Im having monthly period cravings. I can’t stop obsessing about weight and cravings and thoughts of food. Im not sure what’s going on with me but I have this instaiable hunger. I feel like my hunger is returning and its really terifying me. Im petrified of weight regain. I was in the hospital 4 times since my July tummy tuck with lower body lift. I went septic and required ICU blood transfusions. I was at my lowest weight of 190. I couldn’t eat when I was weak and sick. Now my body is healing a dehissed wound on my hip (from that surgery) its like my body is craving things it did pre surgery. Im terrified and get scared going up 2 pounds then down 3, im in a constant yoyo. Ive been talking to my counselor about it but I feel like they might not understand the disordered way of thinking about food. Thanks for letting me vent. Im hoping to see my bariatric surgeon soon and try to figure this out. However, I am out of state from him. Im honestly thinking that my hunger is stemming from a genetic condition. I was also born with mosaic turner syndrome (I did the testing and have the rare obesity gene) anyways 125 grams of protein daily and under 60 carbs should keep me full. I go to bed depressed and brush and floss so I don’t engage in eating. I can’t stop thinking about food and feeling constantly head hungry. This is miserable I just try to go to sleep and control my obsessing. This makes me feel like I’m just eventually going go regain it all. Thanks for listening. I hope my fears go away.

at that far out I'd switched over to mostly calorie counting (although I know it isn't for everyone). I had to experiment a bit to figure out at what range I maintained my weight (for me, it was 1500-1700 calories, but that's going to differ for everyone). If I went under that most days of the week, I'd lose - if I went over it consistently, I'd gain.

Wow! I knew that they blocked visitors but missed that Allina cancelled all weight loss surgeries. I went through the Allina weight management program a couple years ago but switched to Park Nicollet a year ago. -
I’m a year and a half out. What should my meals look like?? I’ve been gaining some weight back and need to get on a better diet I think.

OMG yes!!! What’s up with that??? I’m the same at the moment. I’ve been swearing & wondering if this is this why people experience the third year bounce back gain??? Scary times. I’m at home almost all the time too which is why I try to really try to stick to my eating times & don’t keep crap in my house but it’s just me so no partner or children to keep happy. It’s getting harder & I’ve noticed my ‘don’t feel hungry’ times are getting fewer fewer. Also noticed changing tastes too - eat yoghurt & then crave salt almost immediately after. What’s with that?? I don’t eat when I’m out & about either but mainly because either nothing appeals or fits my food choices. And if I’m meeting friends for a meal, I study the menu before I go so I know exactly what I can eat & what variations I could ask for. I keep bottles of water in my car all the time too @GreenTealael. Oh & I love teriyaki flavoured anything. My German ancestry would happily enjoy every mouthful of your NY’s dinner @Sophie7713. Pork, sauerkraut, yum. -
That's not odd - pretty much what I've experienced! Eating less calories isn't the answer and I imagine that will just create more problems. Your body needs those calories. Stalls are your body's time-out to deal with the trauma of the surgery and the sudden prolonged severe drop in caloric intake. If anything, upping the calories and exercise has been the best way I've found to break the stalls. I'm averaging about a kilogram of weight loss a week, which is what I was losing when I was doing calorie counting and exercise the last time I made a decent effort of losing the analogue way - before I finally accepted I needed surgical help. So I've not experienced the "weight melting off" or "honeymoon period" so many others talk about on here. And while it can get you down, I look at the long term bright side. Slower steadier weight loss is healthy, the number is still going down, and hopefully this means our skin has a better chance of springing back, and our hair loss will be minimal. Fingers crossed!

OMG - you ladies are killing me! I just made a dull beef veggie soup that hardly compares to any of these golden pocket beauties!!! I'm dying for a bite. I dropped 3 pounds (probably salt and sugar weight) since fasting 2 meals a day since last post. I plan to continue through the weekend. -
Hello everyone! I just had roux en y gastric bypass done yesterday and, when researching support groups, found out about you all! I am looking forward to exploring the threads, learning about all of your journeys, and gaining some insight into what is to come. A little about me: I'm 32, a mom to an almost 10 year old girl, and I have struggled with multiple chronic health issues for the better part of a decade. Medications for these problems added a bunch of my weight, and some unhealthy choices added the rest. My goals are to lose about 90-100 pounds, lower my cholesterol and triglycerides, and heal from some really bad GERD. I'm excited and ready to make it all happen! omg! I'm 6 weeks post op and I have been dealing with the exact same problem, every second week I have been stalling I didn't know if it was cause I was struggling to have protein, my caloric intake I was worried I wasn't going to get over the stall too. I'm also eating 800-950 calories a day is that too much 6 weeks out oh and just before a stall I will gain a pound then stall and then I lose 5 pounds then gain a pound and stall is this odd??

I really liked the aesthetic look of these dumbbells. But I have some doubts about their practicality. I assume that such small dumbbells will be effective for you for a maximum of 1-2 months, and in addition these are not collapsible dumbbells, so you can't purchase plates separately. Even for cardio, this is too light weight. To save both money and space in your home, I would recommend you to purchase quality professional equipment. The feature is that they have dumbbells that you can put on and take off plates on them, and you can adjust the weight from about 0.5 kg to 30-40 kg. Moreover, at the same time you will have only one pair of dumbbells, and discs that you can stack one on top of the other, this will take up minimum of space.

I had my op October 2021, Doing great, the weight loss is coming off. 5 and a half stone so far, I feel so much better and able to move more, I am happier thats for sure! However I do have a question......Just recently when I eat, straight after I get all hot, sweaty and shaky and have palpitations almost like a diabetic Hypo(low blood sugar) . However I checked my blood sugar, and it is normal. Am I eating too fast? I have no other symptoms. This is just weird!!! Love & Light

Another day without a weight loss- I’m kinda stuck at 246.6. Still better than the starting weight I was at. Todays win is that my favorite pair of lounge pants aren’t so tight. :) Yesterday I definitely didn’t hit my liquid goals. So I’m gonna focus on that today. Currently I’m enjoying a coffee with protein drink. Out of the 20 oz I have about 5 oz left to drink. Only about 44 oz left for the day. I have my 38 oz water bottle with me as well. So I’ll be working on drinking that as well today. The remainder will probably be another shake so I’m getting my protein in. I also have a dentist appointment for a cleaning and I can not wait! Let me tell you- not being able to chew and being on a liquid only diet for almost 4 weeks has made my teeth feel gross no matter how many times a day I’m brushing/ flossing and using mouth wash. ICK. Last night I went out with friends. We walked around a mall, then went and saw a movie. I found it easier than I expected to be with them as they had movie theater snacks. I was very happy with my water- I also snuck a protein shake in if I felt like I needed something more. :) I know I’m supposed to be working on establishing 3 meals a day but it’s really challenging with such a limited variety. It’s totally psychological for me due to my normal schedule. I currently work overnights but have switched my sleep schedule to more of a normal one while being home on leave. So everything is kinda goofy and it’s gonna stay that way for a little bit. I just found out yesterday I have about two more weeks of traditional overnights then I’m moving to a semi overnight schedule. I’m ecstatic to be moving to a different schedule that’s a little more normal. :) -
Day After Reversion from RSG to Bypass
wdbass posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had surgery 2 days ago, which went better than expected. Mine was done primarily for GERD, but also because my weight was going up. My weight when I left for the hospital on Monday was 254. When I got on the scale this morning it was 264! I know this is all due to fluids taken at the hospital, but I was still surprised by how much! Any thought on how long it will take to lose this? -
Revision from sleeve to bypass
MAQ replied to lions92's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@melanatedqueen Macros are between 60-80 grams protein, 40-50 grams fat and less than 10 grams carbs. More fat if I can fit it in without eating too much. I don’t know if I was in a stall and it ended the same time I started introducing more fat or if it was the fat that jump started my weight loss. But I certainly didn’t go through all this to eat less than 500 calories a day and not lose weight. Much more satisfied on the keto. -
What I wish i knew before I had surgery
Summermoose replied to Shineaiggy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had really understood the psychological impact of losing weight beforehand. Massive weight loss may trigger a lot of painful emotions and make you come to painful realisations as well. As an example, these two things are what I am struggling with most: 1. People treat me differently (makes me feel anger and grief) 2. Men are noticing me again (triggers anxiety and fear) I really thought I had all my ducks in a row before surgery, but I’m glad I have a therapist I know and trust who can see me at the drop of a hat. I’d really recommend anyone to make sure they have solid emotional and psychological support before starting all this. 🍀 -
Revision from VSG to RNY with hernia repair
GradyCat replied to shriner37's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I see this a lot on here with GERD after sleeve. It hasn't happened to me . . . yet. I'm wondering why that's a known issue, what causes it? I had GERD pre-WLS and now I don't have it since losing weight. Can I be nosy? If the revision is to correct GERD caused by VSG, does it cost you anything/does insurance cover it?
