Afraid to go to psyc appointment
Allison replied to Long2BFree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh I hated that test. They sent it in the mail and I took it a week or 2 ago. I wasn't really thinking that they were trying to trick me, so I probably did bad answering, I varied on the questions about "bending the law," hahahaha, it was like, You should ALWAYS follow every law about everything regarless of anything, and I answered no, but on the questions that said "I love breaking the law," I also said no, ugh. My appointment is Friday, so hopefully everything goes well  -
I'm so confused and undecided, after reading Darcy's post, I think I should wait before going back for another fill attempt. Please explain how it could possibly take 3 weeks for a fill to kick in. I definately don't want to be too tight. I've read where others had the same experience. It just seems if it goes in the band then it would be noticed immediately. I'm definately gonna insist my doctor do the flouro before he makes another "attempt". The fill may have hit and I just don't know it yet. I did my research for two years (Leatha) and thought I had this thing down Pat, (excuse the pun), but now I just don't know.... to fill or not to fill, that is the question.

Thanks to all who responded. Had the fill this morning. Doc put in 1cc and to be honest I don't feel any different. I'm definately with nightingale though and want to do this properly even if it is slowly. I'll wait a couple of weeks to see if anything has changed before I go and demand my €150 worth of saline!!! Tracey... What a great price! But Lyon's a real pain for me to get to. I live in Italy and would have to go via London so the same problems there as getting to and from Frankfurt.

That is pretty much too what I ate the yogurt, eggs, fat free milk during my second week.

Sugar Free Fat Free chocolate pudding has saved my life. Just a little melodrama to let you know you're not alone. I really haven't noticed an increased desire for sweets since my fill, but I admit that I have something sweet at least once a week. If I didn't, I'd jump off a cliff. More melodrama.

Just wondering if anyone out there has extreme sugar cravings after fills. I'm guessing that my body knows that I've cut back on everything and sends a signal for something, anything..sugary! Generally, I'm not a sweets person (a more of a meat, potatoe, pasta girl) but for the last 2 weeks since I got my fill I am dying for any kind of sugar. Ideas?

Surgery Went Well
kbliss78 replied to Evolutions12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
awesome you are on the other side. THe next three days might not be fun. But hang in there! -
Sorry TMI, but would like to know if anyone has had this issue. During my labs I had to bring in a stool sample. It tested positive for H pylori. Doctors office says it’s a bacteria that is common and that many have it with no symptoms. Have to take antibiotics for 14 days. I have my doctors visit in 3 weeks and then surgery will be scheduled.

So glad all is well! Before my slip I went through the same thing - fills suddenly becoming too tight several weeks after a fill then needing a series of unfills just to get liquids down again. IMHO, I think some people swell more than others due to different things - maybe something we're eating or I don't know - just something. It just seemed as though I was very swollen inside at times. Weird. I've heard of a few others that this has happened to, too. It's such good news that everything's ok and I hope you & your dr are able to figure out what's going on...

Well, after having to reschedule my EGD several times, it finally happened yesterday. Everything looked great. No hernia, erosion, or slippage. There is no explanation why I have had such a difficult time with my fills kicking in a month to a month and a half after I get them, making it impossible to eat or drink. I have a friend who was banded a month after me and she is experiencing the exact same issues that I am. Getting a fill and a month later she couln't eat or drink. Is anyone else having this same experience? I would be curious to know. I talked the doctor into letting me get another fill after my EGD and they added .2cc's giving me a total of 1.4 cc's. I was so hungry yesterday, I guess because I hadn't eaten all day. I had some very soft grits this morning with no problems. I hope now knowing I haven't slipped and have been filled at every possible level...1.5 too much...1.3 not enough...maybe 1.4 will be my magic number. I have been so frustrated with the fill thing and just don't want to have to ever get another one! Anyway, the doctor was pleased with my weight loss and said it is okay to lose it slow. One NSV for me was that a couple of weeks ago I went out with a group of people. Two of the girl thought my husband had a new wife! They couldn't believe how great I looked. I guess dropping about 30lbs has made a difference!

You are welcomed. I'll be a month out on Monday. I was right where you are now. It will be over soon. The best news I can give you now.....I care very little about food. I have to watch the clock to make sure I eat. Also I was on two weeks of clear liquids after surgery. I breezed through it hunger wise, but had very low energy. Best wishes.

When did you go back to work?
heynowkc replied to heav85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery just before our winter break this past December (I work at a college library). So I didn't have to go back for 2.5 weeks. I wouldn't have felt good enough to go back after a week, but would have been fine to go back after 1.5 or 2. -
When did you go back to work?
akreese02 replied to heav85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like you, I had my surgery Tuesday 3/24 and I am going to a three hour training today and then back full time tomorrow. I was really nervous but as each day passes, I feel better and despite being a bit irritated, I think I can handle it. Just going to take things slowly. -
Wow! Thanks for the 411 lil rr...I was at a stall for a week, but my hubby swore I was still losing, we figured it was inches ...I will take it
-
Yeppers!! It's actually not a plateau, but a stall -- I stalled for weeks 4 and 5 (losing a grand total of 2 pounds), but like a lot of people who are ahead of us, they started losing right away again. I'm losing again this week. So, just keep plugging away -- you really can't not lose weight with the sleeve if you're doing everything right -- so eventually you will win over the fat Hope this helps!

I lost 17 pounds my first month. I stalled at week three and didn't lose again until my second month started. I lost 11 pounds my second month, and I lost 10 pounds my third month. I now know that I stall for a total of about ten days per month, thanks to my cycle. I'm a slower loser, but that still averages out to more than three pounds a week. I've never lost 3 pounds a week before. Yes, it's frustrating. Yep, we want to compare ourselves to everyone else. Women that were sleeved the same month as me, with similar stats, are already more than halfway to goal. But you know what? I am losing. I'm losing faster than I've ever lost weight before. And even though I feel like the slowest loser in the world I can reach my goal in less than nine months from my surgery date. That's just four to five more months. Once I put it in perspective, there's nothing to be upset about. It used to take me four months of near starving misery to drop 30 pounds before. In comparison, this is almost effortless. Keep up the good work, you're doing just fine. ~Cheri

Hey, I think you are doing really well... but the main focus should be on healing and letting your new tummy settle in, the weight loss is just a bonus at the moment. My first few weeks were exactly the same... the first 2-3 weeks, the weight feel off, then slowed right down and now at nearly 16 weeks out it is slow but steady; I average about 10lb a month... I used to think that was slow... but now I realise that it's average and a healthy way to lose weight. Remember to take you measurements... this way if you feel your weight loss is slow you have the measurements to reiterate how well you are doing... Good luck and keep up the good work

No "pre-Diet" For Me!
minniekitty replied to gallogirl99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a strict pre-op diet like many other people here. I did do a low carb "liver shrinking" diet for a few weeks (30 g or less of carbs). My doc complimented me on how tiny my liver was when I woke up after surgery lol The pre-op diet was difficult the first few days (craving carbs), but I didn't have to limit my calories or anything. I can imagine it was a million times easier than the liquid diets I read others have to go through pre-op. It must be torture to do that with a normal size stomach, my heart goes out to you guys who have to do it I bet you are super stoked for your surgery! I know I was. It's a long journey, but so worth it!!! -
I finally spoke to my surgeon this morning in great length,(the day I went for consult, he was still in surgery) I have all my visits that are required in ONE day in the same hospital! June 8th! Can't wait! I asked him about a pre-liquied diet and he advised he doesn't do that, he just requires nothing to eat or drink after midnight, the day of surgery! He advised it is 'torture' to put someone through that, the 7 days post op is enough! I found him very genuine and answered all my questions and he said I'm probably looking at at surgery date of 1st or 2nd week of July.....so pumped!

So my surgery was due on 12th of June, got a call Friday to tell me that it was being postponed AGAIN! Because I needed a psychiatric assessment! So over the weekend I have been eating like a woman possessed, I thought im not getting my surgery for another few weeks I can have my food freedom again for a while, so this morning I get a call from the nurse saying the psychiatric assessment is no longer needed and the surgery is still going ahead on the 12th! Prior to my phone call on Friday I had been doing the post op diet for 8 days, My question is, would I have done much damage to my liver shrinkage over my weekend foodathon, which didn't include alcohol and only 1 pudding, And if I do the liquid diet till Friday do u think that will be enough for me to possibly shrink my liver a bit more for the op? Thanks

Hey everyone. I am currently 2 weeks post op and was wondering if anyone has any good recipes for puréed stage! Anything would help! Thanks!!

Its raining today, which the sun would shine and warm up just a little bit. Can't wait to get my 1st fill. I'm wanting something sweet, like a brownie or cookie. I'm a cookie monster big time. I have never met a cookie that I didn't like. Its been 4 weeks since I have had any thing sweet. Thats a really long time for me to go without sweet things. I'm drinking a glass of water right now maybe that will help. Who am I kidding. Its really bad when you have to tell yourself that water is the answer. I proud of myself, I haven't missed the diet coke at all. That really surprises me. I thought it would be the hardest thing to do, but it's not. Wish rest of the stuff would be that easy. I'm going to try tuna tonite for supper. I have never just ate tuna without bread. I'm to scared to try bread, besides if I fine out that it goes down easy, it might be to easy to eat something else that I don't want to start eating again. Time to get busy, and stop feeling sorry for myself. This is want I wanted. I do feel better, but still have low energy level, hoping that will get better soon.

2 yrs post op visit, considering TT
livvsmum replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Sounds like you are making amazing progress! Good job!!! I just had a tummy tuck and panniculectomy 6 weeks ago tomorrow. It was the best decision I've ever made outside of my sleeve surgery. After losing 155 pounds, there were no number of sit ups taht would tighten up that lose skin. And after having 4 9+ pound babies, and carrying around 155 pounds in excess weight, my ab muscles needed MUCH repair. My surgery ended up lasting 7 hours. But my surgeon was a freaking miracle worker and he did the MOST amazing job!!! I feel sexy. Like honest to god sexy for the first time in my adult life. If you do go through with it, don't just get the panni, you will still have a belly overhang. Also take your time and find the right surgeon. I did my research and am SO pleased with the results. Now I'm just waiting to hear back on my insurance approval for him to do my arms too. I've attached my before/after pics. Keep in mind these pics were take 4 weeks post op, so there's a little swelling still. The scar is covered with "scar away" scar sheets, so it's safe viewing for the weak of stomach. And don't mind the stretch marks. They were proudly earned bringing 4 amazing kiddos into the world.
