Surgery in 5 days!!! So here is my 2 wk diet: 2 shakes a day any time 3 meals lasting no longer than 20 min that include one of each area Area 1 sugar free yogurt or nonfat ricotta cheese or nonfat cottage cheese Area 2 tuna in Water or salmon or skinless turkey/chicken Area 3 raw or steamed non-starch veggies Condiments allowed were ketchup relish or mustard The day before surgery is shakes, water, broth I have been able to make it through almost all family lunches and dinners through the holidays by just eating the meet and veggie for dinner & lunch I eat deli meat rolled up and a veggie. I tried drinking my shake while they ate waffles for bfast but ended up in my room the smell was too good. And since my mother inlaw cooked bfast every morning I choose to drink in my room to avoid temptation. I did fall off the wagon when fresh pizza was brought home I at a small slice of cheese. The smells are what is the worst for me. Even when I'm not hungry the smells make my stomach ache. So I will go for a walk and get way from the smells! I've lost 6lbs since I started the diet on 12/20

Yes, we are. Hello. As of this date, I can't say that the band has yet to KICK in. I think we are at the "on your own" stage right now. But I'm trying to stay good. I look forward to the first fill cause I'm hungry. I try to eat 6 small meals a day to keep the edge off, :hungry: (cheese stick, yogurt, apple, low cal dinner) but when the evening comings my old habits have resurfaced--SWEETS CRAVINGS. I got some Healthy choice fudge bars, 90 cals. ea They are really good. But this weeks i started eating 2 or 3 in a row. :omg: These have put my Calorie Count past 1200. Bad girl! Seem to be losing more inches than LBS. Hubby notices. Old cloths(size 22) are resurfacing too! How about U?

Hello everyone. I'm a band to sleeve revision scheduled for May 16th! Getting here has been a long and often miserable road. I am so excited to be beginning this new journey. I really messed up by not being prepared when I had my band put in and that is not going to happen again. So, I spent some time today compiling of list of things to get in the next month. It's suited to my tast so there is no pudding and only vanilla flavors (no chocolate or strawberry). Also, everything is pre-packaged (making it more expensive) because I have two kids who keep me extremely busy and a husband who works all the time. I quit drinking carbonated beverages and caffeine a couple of months ago and gave up alcohol (almost completely ) in January. I never though I would be able to do that (of course I am really fightin replacing with eating)! Anyway, just in case this may help someone here it is: For Day of Surgery Ear plugs Eye mask Chapstick Warm blanket Ear buds for TV Gas X (couple of different forms) Slippers or Socks Belly Binder Nightgown Belly bear or pillow Phone charger Milk of Magnesia For Weeks 1 and 2 May 16th – May 31st 21 Carnation Instant Breakfast Vanilla (Pre-made) 28 Fat free or low fat cream Soups (strained before eating)(see list at end) 28 No sugar added Greek Yogurts 3 Cartons chicken broth 3 Cartons beef broth 1 Carton skim milk 14 Jello snack cups 6 Cans crushed pineapples in Water or light syrup (for smoothies) 7 Bananas (for smoothies) 1 Carton OJ (for smoothies) 6 Mangos for smoothies For Weeks 3 and 4 June 1st – June 14th 1 Large box of quick Quaker Oats 14 Fat free cream soups (see list at end) 21 No sugar added Greek Yogurts 14 HMR or Healthy Choice etc. frozen dinners (to put in blender) 1 Spinach (to put in blender w/ frozen meals) 1 Broccoli to put in blender (to put in blender w/ frozen meals) 1 Box of instant mashed potatoes 14 Prepackaged snack cups of unsweetened apple sauce 4 Cans of chicken for chicken salad 1 Jar of Hellman’s low fat mayo Vitamins and supplements Mulit-Vitamin – Bariatric Advantage Convenient Daily Packs (30 day supply) Biotin – Nature’s Bounty 5,000 iu Protein – unjury unflavored, Unjury strawberry sorbet, and Unjury chicken Soup Vitamin D – highest dosage (I'm African -American (so my Vit D is always low) but with enough other stuff mixed in that my mom has osteporosis. Go Figure!) I also already have every heartburn medicine (both OTC and prescription) at home but if you do not probably good to have it on hand. Tylenol - liquid or chewables if I can find them. I get migraines so I am sure one will hit me. Cream soups may include from Campbell’s Brand – FF Cream of Celery, FF Cream of Chicken, FF Cream of Mushroom, FF Broccoli cheese, Healthy Request Cheddar Cheese Soup, Cream of Potato Soup (sparingly) -

Need Advice From Banded Vets!!
honk replied to Myshel65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes we have all felt the need to "eat/chew" something. Totally normal. As mentioned previously however just because you can does not mean should. I recommend spacing out your allowed foods. When I was on mushies I was allowed 8 oz of tomato soup (or sweet red pepper whatever but vegetable, smooth and low fat/cal); I'd wait an hour and then have the yogurt of cottage cheese. If I ate everything in one setting I would be both head and body hungry in an hour. If you are hungry eat more of the foods you are allowed. Don't eat pizza or fries. A bit of a lecture. If pizza, fries and chicken fingers are bad for you they are bad for your children. Feed your kids versions of what you are eating. They literally won't starve. If they are hungry enough they will eat it. -
Oh and one other thing. sometimes it has to be something filling, which is why the greek yogurt is a good choice for me. Lynda

I was wondering the same thing. Even the preop diet some doctors allowed you to have some calories, I was on all liquid for 12 days. But I only had to do two days of liquid after surgery. Now I can have cream of wheat, yogurt, and creamy soup and protein shake. Maybe it does depend on the individual person.

Hey girls! i am so sorry I havent been logging on as often lately.. I've been so distracted.. but first.. the guy I went on a date with was someone that I've known for a while.. we have history.. a couple months back he would ask me to spend time with him almost everyday for 2 months and I would say no because of my weight.. I guess i got happy that I've changed alot since the surgery and had the courage to spend time. It was a good time.. mostly talking alot! So as far as my diet I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I even cut out pureed beans because that has a tons of carbs and while i was eating it my scale did not move. As soon as I stopped eating it I've dropped some more pounds. I only eat dannon greek yogurt called light and fit (if I'm saying it correctly ) only 80 calories each 6 carbs and 12 of protein.. i eat about 2 of those a day.. each i eat half as a meal .. and I also eat cottage cheese.. and water.. I havent done tea in a while but I should today. At night i juice some vegetables and drink it slowly. That's all I do.. and now i keep my portions under 3 oz. sometimes i read the group chat and I feel bad because I dont know if I'm feeding my body right.. but i've lost weight and I feel fine. Maybe in the afternoon a little low on energy and I take a nap around 3:30 til like 5:30 then I'm fine again. I'll continue reading the chat to catch up.... and by the way thank you girls on the compliment.. it feel like warm hugs lol [emoji7][emoji178] -

This a good warning for me to be prepared when I go back to work. Food prep is going to be essential to staying mostly on plan. what did you do? I think I would have made a wawa run and got some soup or yogurt. -

Your plan is much clearer than mine. To be honest I have been taking the puréed to mean chew very well before swallowing. I just can't imagine blending my meat. I have been eating veggies most of last week though they weren't on my plan till this week. I only eat a few bites anyway because like you said there is only so much room in our stomachs. I am able to eat at the most 3-3.5 oz total depending on what I am eating. If it is yogurt or cottage cheese I can eat close to 4 oz, but if it is chicken or ground turkey only 2-3oz. Cereals are added on my plan this week ,but I do not know if i will eat any of them. I have never been much of a cereal eater anyway. Here is what my week 4 looks like -

Thank you! I also said the same thing about cheese... i will change anything! ... except the cheese that's one part of me i will hold on too [emoji23][emoji23]. I'm sacrificing alot more for a healthy life. I also dont care about yogurt so i'm not going to include it in my diet at all... i prefer to save those calories for cheese when i'm able to eat it. When you say plant based.. what exactly did you buy that's plant based? -

Given that we had the surgery on the same day.. does it hurt your stomach or put pressure on your stable line when u eat chicken and veggies? I thought i messed up when i had a little bit of mash potatoes.. i put sour cream on it to make it softer.. i was on a date and my date doesnt know about my surgery so i had to play it off.. of course i had to pack it to go and then gave it to him to take home. But i aas worried that mashed potatoes were too much.. plus another question.. earlier that day i actually finished a whole yogurt my stomach felt soo fulll i started getting scared that i stretched something... how do i know if my sleeve is still good? Im scared of the full feeling. -
Any March Sleevers?
missmeow replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm eating mostly yogurt and cottage cheese since I barfed on tuna (1/4 cup blenderized with nayo). I figured an extra week on semi-liquids wouldn't hurt. I eat 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese. Well, at the begining of the week 1/4 cup was all I could do but now I can do 1/2 if its liquidy. Ive also been doing 6 oz cup of greek yogurt 0%. That goes down very easy. I tried a 1/2 cup of lentil soup with 1oz of goat cheese. It went down fine but just didnt float my boat taste wise (mostly water). Hummus goes down fine but gives me heartburn. I need some help menu wise to start getting in more fiber. I am on mushies/soft foods until my next appointment. -
Any March Sleevers?
PeacockMama replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I can eat the "soft" diet now which includes fish, chicken, eggs, and pasta. But im eating VERY small amounts VERY slowly. I have, however, decided to try to eat mostly soups and yogurt for a little while longer. I haven't had any pains or anything though other than that one time w the chicken from eating it too fast. -
My 2 week post op appt is Wednesday. I am so freakin hungry I can't hardly stand it! I've been sticking with yogurts and soups because I don't want to do too much to soon and mess something up. Today is the first day that I have been absolutely miserable and hungry.

Lewilli, I live in FL it's hot and I live alone, I almost never cook. I have cottage cheese with chopped veggies,Greek yogurt with fresh or frozen fruit, low fat cheese, ricotta cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, blended veggie, fruit, nut, drinks. I sometimes put soy, milk, or yogurt or protein powder in the blender drinks. I recently have been eating spinach salads with finely chopped veggies with feta cheese. When I do cook (rarely) I use a crock pot with chicken and veggies or pork roast with veggies. I put this outside on our screened in covered porch so I don't heat up the house. This crock pot feast will last me for many days and I just reheat in microwave in small bowl servings. I sometimes poach a couple eggs in microwave with spinach, cheese or other veggies. I made a huge meatloaf with much filler including blended onion, bell pepper, garlic, herbs, and oatmeal mixed with diet lean burger. This lasted many meals and I reheated in microwave. I made chili with lots of beans, onions tomatoes and bell pepper. I made ff refried bean dip with ff sour cream chopped tomatoes guacamole and low fat cheese. I don't like eating mostly protein so I mix veggies and fruit with about everything. I try to avoid cooking anything except about one big pot of food once a week. I hope this helped. There are lots of good band recipes online. MelVan

I had my sleeve done 2 weeks ago on the 15th and I'm feeling pretty good. I've lost 10 lbs since the day of Surgery. I don't know if that's good or not. I'm having a very hard time getting protein in. I can't stand shakes at all. I get super nauseous from the first tiny sip! I've been eating cottage cheese and Greek yogurt to get some protein in, but that's about it. Water is also hard, plain water is nearly impossible. Flavored water I can drink about 24 oz a day. I'm worried about my nutrition! Any suggestions???

Surgery on sept 29...currently on day two of preop diet doctor wants me on
MarchLikeAnAnt replied to mouse1972rb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on the 28th (UK) I'm on 3 pints of milk and 2 yogurts only, I would give anything to have even just a teaspoon of cottage cheese! Lol -
I am almost 4 months out. Can not tolerate protein shakes. Tried all brands, flavors, vegan, whey, rice. So I got this organic sliced turkey and string cheese. If I eat 2 slices and 1 string cheese, that's 22g of protein. Plus super easy to prepare or take with me. I also have no problem with Greek yogurt. So I eat a lot of that. I mix tuna with Greek yogurt rather than mayo. Hope you get to feeling better.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
iattcom replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone, I had RnY on 9/26 and have lost almost 30 pounds since my first weight in at the clinic. I am supposed to be on puree food at this stage of the game. I am not there. I am seeing my surgeon on Tuesday afternoon to hopefully be able to get some answers to why I am afraid to eat. I tried to go full liquids on the day I was supposed to and it took me 2 hours to finish my breakfast of coffee, 2 oz of thinned Greek yogurt, and 6 oz of protein shake. I know it was a bad meal as we are not supposed to drink for 30 minutes before or after we eat. The coffee was first and that was part of why it took me 2 hours to finish it all. I had the same thing for lunch except no more coffee and even then it took me 2 hours to finish my meal. For dinner I only finished the protein shake. I did have water through out the day and I also had off and on increasing and incredible back pain. I did not sleep well Sunday night and Monday morning I had to drive myself to a class. I went back to clear liquids on Monday because I was hurting so badly. When I got home I had explosive diarrhea, luckily it didn’t happen until after I got out of my car. I drank protein2o protein water with whey protein and my regular water for the day. That was the extent of my “food” for the day. I had finished the protein2o at about 7pm and went to bed at my normal bed time of about 11:30pm and then woke up at about 3:30am with what my surgeon’s nurse said could have been the dumps. I did a day of broth and jello and Gatorade like I had in the hospital and then tried the protein shake again. I am tolerating them well, I just have not add anything else to my diet. -
January sleevers are youd ready?
LauraM5 replied to ready2haveanormalwaistline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! It gets easier!! Go slow on solid foods! I wanted to have soft mushy foods SO bad that the day the dr. said I could I went to lunch with my husband ordered a scrambled egg. Ate two bits and proceeded to throw it up because my stomach wasn't ready to handle it that quickly. Start with one small soft food at a time. Something easy like regular yogurt. Then go to cottage cheese, etc... It got better for me about 6 weeks to where I felt normal and back to myself. Take lots of naps and rest when you can! -
On my 5th week now and I feel like I'm able to eat more than most people at one sitting. I can eat a whole one of those weight control oatmeal packs for breakfast without a problem. I can also eat one of those light & fit Greek yogurts easily as well. I can eat about 4 grilled shrimp and 3 asparagus for dinner and be comfortably full. Maybe the oatmeal and yogurt just pass through easily, but when I hear people say, I had three bites and I'm stuffed" it makes me question things a bit. I'm eating 700-800 calories a day & doing the elliptical trainer 30 minutes each day... Losing very slowly lately- maybe adding 100 calories will help? Anyone eating protein bars at 5-6 weeks out?
