  1. I am five days in to my ten day pre-op diet. My pre-op diet consists of three Protein shakes, five servings of fruit/veg, and an optional Protein Bar or lite Greek yogurt. I'm doing really well on the diet. 100% on plan. Days 1-3 were tough, but I'm not as hungry now. I am missing food though. Just the satisfaction I get from it, I guess. *sigh*. I know I can do this. 2. So I'm almost 2 weeks post op, and will be soon moving to the pureed stage of post op. I just bought some stuff to begin introducing pureed to my diet. I bought things like baby applesauce, baby carrots, baby meats, cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding to make with Cashew Milk. What did all of you eat during this stage? Any recipes to share? Looking for a bit more variety after being liquid for 4 weeks!!! Thanks.
  3. Relax. Yogurt isn't a "slider food", it's semiliquid. Once it gets into your sleeve, it empties very quickly. Different surgeons give different guidelines. Follow the instructions your surgeon gave you. Don't go looking on the internet for this kind of thing, you have instructions from YOUR surgeon for YOU. Many, many postop patients get frantic because they "feel no restriction" or similar while they're on the liquid stages. Then they advance to something more like real food and notice a big difference. Have some more liquid. Take a walk, or a nap. Stay off the internet if you have to to avoid worrying. You'll be fine. Really.
  4. 1/2 cup is normal at this stage. Yogurt does have nutritional values so not much of a slider food. It helps with your vitamins and protein intake and also counts toward your liquid intake.
  5. This shows 8oz of Greek yogurt in the "mushy" food stage (this is not from my surgeon's practice) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm a little worried that I'm 9 days post op and can already eat 4oz of Chobani. That seems like a lot. I was definitely full and satisfied when finished and couldn't have eaten more. Maybe I was able to eat that much because yogurt is like a slider food? No way I could eat 4oz of chicken, tuna, etc. It makes me worried that my sleeve is too big. Any experience with this? Favorite Greek Yogurt

I usually go with fage plain non-fat Greek yogurt. For flavor I'll either mix in some vanilla protein powder or a little Splenda and some fresh fruit. I also use it just plain as a substitute for sour cream. It's by far my favorite Greek yogurt in terms of versatility, flavor, and texture! [emoji1]
  8. I had the same issue. Every single thing I consumed, from soup, to water, to yogurt, made my stomach cramp and hurt. Didn't matter what I did to try to help it. Fortunately, my issues passed after a few months as well. Maybe 4 or 5. Now I can tolerate most things.

    Eating the same meals

Some of my favorite staple foods, which change I find overtime based on what my body wants have included: Organic or non-GMO project certified yogurts-the higher Protein the better. I always put granola and/or berries in my yogurt. Nuts: cashews, walnuts, almonds Cheese: high-end, grass fed, snobby cheeses LOL The occasional Protein Bar. Fruit: bananas, berries, oranges, pomegranate seeds, pears, apples Occasionally, some soft cooked meat coffee with Protein powder.

Oh I don't know about the size of my new stomach I'm going to email my surgeon I can eat more than I think I should I can easily eat an entire yogurt tub and a whole scrambled egg easily the other night I had an entire yogurt and a med size banana I was mortified I'd eaten it all and quite sick feeling but when I watched a NZ show the other night on people getting the surgery they could only eat one ice cube size of defrosted food at a time I don't feel restriction Sent from my iPhone
  13. @@michelleg46 - here are some things that I previously posted on the subject: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/349876-gastric-balloon-procedure-booked/page-6#entry4120318 (post #56) http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/353935-orbera-success-strategies/page-13 (post #124) http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/365226-orbera-or-reshape-balloon-why-did-you-pick-one-over-the-other/ (Since you started this one, I'm guessing that you already read my responses ... :-)) Be sure to get anti-nausea meds (even ask for the patch just before the procedure) and take them for the first couple of days, even if you feel OK ... it's best to stay ahead of it. Have pain meds in case you need them. It sounds like most people need PPIs until the balloon is removed. My doctor (and most others) seem to give anti-anxiety meds, too. I didn't need mine but apparently it's pretty common to need them until your body adjusts. I didn't need IV fluids. I had Isopure Zero Carb RTD but could not stomach it at first. Water, ice, popsicles and Jello made up my diet for the first 2-3 days. Then I focused on getting Protein in, and made sure that I had Protein drinks on hand that I liked (as well as yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.). I also used a wedge pillow the first few days, and ordered barf bags from Amazon - lol! I did use a couple but, more importantly, just appreciated the peace of mind that they provided. Hope that helps - please feel free to reach out with any other questions. :-)

    I can eat ANYTHING

Are you taking probiotics or digestive enzymes? I am not as far out from surgery from you but I find I can tolerate nearly anything. My doctor encourages lots of drinkable yogurt/kefir, probiotics and digestive enzymes. I think these may be the reason I can tolerate different foods. I still feel the restriction if I eat more than a couple of ounces.

    Post Op diet

You probably won't feel "full" eating soft foods and liquids like cottage cheese and yogurt. Post-op, rather than feeling full, I aim for satisfied. It is easy to go from satisfied to one bite too many so slow down, take small bites, chew thoroughly (when you get to denser foods) and you will get a better sense of when you have eaten enough.
  16. I am 6 days post op and been on a full liquid diet since Saturday. My NUT told me that I can eat yogurt and cottage cheese too. Even though I'm drinking and eating somethings my stomach never feels full. Anyone else ever experienced this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Muscle cramps 3 weeks post op

You can mix it into shakes, puddings, yogurt, etc. You can also reconstitute it with water to make a paste (peanut butter).
  18. I'm sneaking up on 3 months. I can do maybe 4 oz of chicken/beef/pig. Up to 5-6 oz of soft stuff like yogurt. Really depends what it is. Refried beans completely stuff me full after 3-4 oz I'm sneaking up on 3 months. I can do maybe 4 oz of chicken/beef/pig. Up to 5-6 oz of soft stuff like yogurt. Really depends what it is. 3 weeks clear liquids

Yeah, I was only on clear liquids for 3 days and then I was allowed my regular protein shakes at least. I think it was closer to a week and a half before I was allowed any other "full" liquids besides the shakes. At that point I was allowed drinkable yogurt and strained cream soups.

    Newbie on Protein

@@Debbie915 I second the Unjury! I'm 4 weeks post-op now and the unflavored unjury has been great (well...as great as you can get when you're dealing with Protein powder). My favorite is the protein pudding I make - a box of sugar free Jell-O Pudding (I'm partial to vanilla, but any of the SF flavors will work), one packet of unflavored Unjury powder and two cups of Fairlife Skim Milk (for the extra protein). Each 1/2 cup serving is 11.75 grams of protein. It's a nice change when you get sick of greek yogurt or other things and want something smooth. The Unjury chicken soup flavor is surprisingly decent, as well, if you want something that will just stand on it's own.
  21. The puree stage was the hardest for me because I couldn't mentally bring myself to eat pureed chicken, steak, whatever. I tried pureeing some meat one night and it was just so weird looking and smelly. My head was telling me "Chicken is not supposed to look like this!". My puree stage lasted three weeks and I ate pretty much the same thing for those entire three weeks (yogurt, hummus, cottage cheese, refried Beans, and some poppyseed chicken casserole). I thought those three weeks would never end lol. If you can just get through it with the knowledge that it doesn't last forever, you'll be just fine. Now that I'm almost 7 months out and can eat pretty much anything I want, that puree stage seems like a distant memory.

    Some Good Food Choices

You need to eat small amounts throughout the day. My NUT told me to eat every 3 hours or so but very small meals (concentrating on protein). You could try cottage cheese, Greek yogurt (watch the sugar content though), beans, soup, soft boiled eggs, hummus, ground chicken or turkey). Be sure to drink plenty of water or non-caloric drinks. Watch the oatmeal for sugar content too! You should be sure to eat at night even if you don't feel like it! Your stomach pains very likely could be from either the H Pylori or antibiotic. Hope you are doing better soon!
  23. Ur nut should lose her job! Telling someone this is wrong! We have issues with food and u can't just say eat ice cream! Uhhhhh some ppl. Dnt be tempted. Soft cheese, or the cheese on a stick is yummy. I love Greek yogurt Even a slim fast to get n the extra cals is better than an ice cream. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. I think that's a great idea! You can have a closed group so no one outside the group can see what you are posting. I just had my second post-op visit with the doc yesterday. Everything is looking good. I'm a week and a half out from surgery and get to start mushies, i.e. mashed potatoes, hummus, Greek yogurt, etc. I feel really good. From the two-week liver shrink diet to now, I've lost 21 lbs.

    Struggling truck driver post op

Subway you can get just chicken, tuna and ask them to put it in a bowl you don't have to get it with bread. Some truck stops have the Wendy's or mc d's ask for the grilled chicken no bun. All truck stops sell soup, just watch the sodium and drink lots of Water. Stop at a Walmart or before u leave home stock up on Protein drinks, fruits, yogurts (if u have a fridge). Until u get in the groove of the lifestyle u will feel numbed because eating fast food was so much more convenient but remember that is what got you here. Good luck!!!
