    Protein help

These are some of the recommendations I got from my nutritionist this week. Hope this helps to break the monotony: 1) High Protein Milk = 1c milk + 1T non-fat powdered milk = 12.5g protein (add sugar-free hot chocolate mix, sugar-free pudding mix, sugar-free coffee syrups, or sugar-free chocolate or strawberry syrup for variety; also, mix in advance and leave in the fridge overnight for better flavor and mixing of the powdered milk) 2) High Protein Egg = 1 egg + 1T milk + 1T powdered eggs = 11g protein 3) Ricotta cheese mixed with vanilla extract, cinnamon, and/or nutmeg 4) Plain Greek yogurt mixed with sugar-free cheesecake pudding mix; 1/4c = 7g protein (cannot WAIT to try this one!) 5) chicken with Ranch = 1 can chicken mixed with 1T powdered ranch + 2T plain yogurt; 1/4c = 10g Bon appetit!

    SURGERY DATE!!!!

That is kind of funny! Last year I had my surgery on May 25, one day before my son turned 11. I had a party for him the next week and felt wonderful eating my little mushies. Good luck!
  5. I was banded a week ago. My incisions are pink, slightly raised and very itchy !! Is this a normal part of the incisions healing or should I be concerned ? If it is normal is there anything I can use to put on them to stop the itching ? Thank you, Terri

    Cigna Insurance

I have Cigna and not sure about it all. Mine will be submitted sometime next week. Maybe give Cigna a call and ask what's up? I plan on calling them often to make sure things are completed and getting done.

    STALL!

Stalls are no fun, but with hitting the gym you are probably building muscle and your body stalls to adapt. I always noticed I lost inches, not pounds during a stall. Just stick with it and the stall will pass. Plus the week after a stall I would lose about double what my average was.

    Unjury

I actually thought the chicken broth was great. I'd also warm a can of beef broth and add a scoop of unflavored Unjury for protein. I got a lot of use out of unflavored Unjury. I cooked a vegetable beef soup for the family today. Since I'm only three weeks post surgery, I strained a bowl of soup and added unflavored Unjury to the broth.

    How long for this stall?

Yes, I was sleeved 3/6. For the last week I have lost and gained the same 2lbs The doc told me today it was normal. That in the first couple of weeks you lose because you lose water and muscle. Then it will take your body a little bit to adjust. I know I weigh day and night lol. She said the same, weigh once a week. Keep up on your protein and water. It will happen At least it better

  11. Totally normal, and it only gets better. I have a really hard time lounging on the weekends now. I just want to go go go, and the husband is not happy about it since he's a homebody, and works all week.
  12. Hi I was wondering if anyone is steroid dependant? I take cortisone tablets every day which makes you gain weight. I am due to be sleeved in 6 weeks and was hoping someone could tell me how their weight loss is going ?

    No restriction

I am 15 days as well. I can eat half a cup of runny soup, but less of a more dense purée like tuna salad. Also if I make one scrambled egg with 2 tbs of skim milk I can only eat about 2/3 of it. I some times have a protein shake in the afternoons for a snack but it takes me about an hour or more to finish it. I thought this was all ok. I see the dietician next Monday.

Why am I feeling like this?

Hey there - you and I share surgery dates! It must be normal (or not uncommon) to have a stall at this stage. I just recently had what felt like a nearly 3-week stall where I was hovering at 280, maybe up or down a pound on any given day. That finally broke about a week ago - which is also when I had a follow-up appt with my surgeon. He said it's to be expected to happen from time to time as your body goes through phases of 'relearning' where it is, and will go through periods of stalls to try and maintain a normal state based on your current metabolism. So that was probably about a week and a half ago, and as of this morning I was at 270.5.. hoping I can kiss the 270's goodbye tomorrow morning. I was getting pretty bothered by it too and tried to uptake my Water - that's one thing I'm really bad about... if I'm not hungry, then I don't think about consuming anything.. but if I am hungry, then I'm not supposed to drink anything for 30 minutes pre- and post-meal. See if you can up your water. I don't know if that helped break it or not but it's something you could try.
  16. Today is my 3 month anniversary of getting my sleeve. I think that I was doing well, I have lost 40 lbs but then all of a sudden it STOPPED. I am getting depressed and I don't know what to do. I have had a couple of stalls but nothing like this. The scale has not moved since I saw my Dr on Feb 23. I see him next week and I am worried about what he is going to tell me. Are these feelings normal? How do I snap out of it? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my sleeve but I know that I need to get out of this funk that I am in.

    From the album: Before

  18. Can anyone tell me when they got tested for smoking before the surgery. I am struggling and dont want to screw up and not get my surgery. I have had so much going on the last cpl months and this is all so stressful enough just having a major surgery. Now im 3 weeks before my sugery and i had quit but backslid. If anyone feels like sharing or has any advise i could use it right about now
  19. I know that I have to do it for 2 weeks and seem to think that mentally this will be harder than anything post surgery. I have my optifast tucked away in a corner, almost in denial that I will be drinking 4 shakes a day for 2 weeks. No pre tasting, practicing, just going into it on day one and start the shakes. During my 2 weeks on shakes, I have an out of country work trip, clients in town for 2 days, family in town for 2 days, so it will be interesting, but there is never a good time. This is all starting to become a reality.........yikes.

    The Last 10 Lbs

I have found I need to track and weigh everyday... but I have tried to take that "obsessed" mind part out. I just do it like brushing my teeth. When I don't do it, I gain. I am finally at goal, (well, working on losing a little bounce range) and how I act is mostly the same as I did when I was still in the losing phase. I use the 5:2 and luckily I don't get too cranky, wouldn't like that! It has gotten easier with time. Its a good maintenance tool too, you might even get away with one day a week for that(6:1). (not me so far, but after the bounce pounds are gone... 3 or 4 I may go to one day a week and see if I can keep the weight off) Just do what your doing, its not a race, you will get there! I was 5 pounds from goal when i started gaining, and it took me almost a year to get back there and then to goal. I'm still learning how to do this right!
  21. Hi. Just wanted to share this funny story with you. Before I decided to get my band, I joined Weight Watchers (AGAIN). I went to the first meeting and the lecturerer asked what problems everyone had had that week. One lady said she hadn't been drinking enough water. Then another said she hadn't exercised enough. Then about 5 or 6 people said they had been having problems with too many BLT's. I thought that was kinda strange - all these people eating too many bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwhiches????? I finally asked the nice lady sitting next to me and she informed me that BLT's were Bites, Licks, and Tastes. So just remember... to many BLT's and you won't lose like you want to. Hope everyone is well and happy!!! Becky
  22. Okay, I'm just curious, if you weigh during your period do u weigh a couple pounds heavier than normal? I was always about 2-3 pounds heavier whenever I weighed before my surgery. Now, though, my diet has changed so much I wonder if it's still the same. I only weigh once a month, & it fell on my period this time.
  23. Hi I am due to have my surgery next week in Perth and I am worried I haven't lost much yet! Just 3kgs. Is it possible surgery could be cancelled if I don't reach the suggested 5-10kgs loss? I've been on a 2 liquid meal and 1 VLC meal diet. Thank you

    Train of thought

Brooklyngirl, First off....Tuesday! Wow! So exciting for you! I hope it goes very smooth and youre back with your family quickly and feeling fantastic! I will be thinking about you next week! Secondly.... I am absolutely not able to stop myself. Its a harsh reality, isn't it? I have faced that many times just trying to prepare myself for this surgery. I am a single mom (the fullest definition) of a 12 yr old boy. I have tried to drink Protein shakes while he eats the dinner I made for him. Extremely difficult! See, I own my own house, I take care of all house and home business. Everything from yard work to dishes and everything in between. I work 40 - 50hrs a week to do it. I am woman hear me roar!! I feel very strong, very in control. But...I cant stop myself from eating too much. I cant control myself around sweets. I just cant. And...it makes all the other things I do seem meager. Eating, and my weight because of it, is my biggest challenge and my biggest shame. I cant control it and it ticks me off! So, I know I need this surgery. I am just scared at times and petrified at others. ugh! I'm determined to change it. Very determined!
