  1. I had my first follow-up yesterday (5/15/19) from a sleeve procedure on 5/9/19. I was on clear liquids for the first week, but was cleared to move to regular liquids for a week on Saturday (518/19). Doc won’t authorize eggs until two weeks after surgery at the earliest and then suggested I leave them a bit runny. I’m anxious and nervous to try eggs, and mashed potatoes lol.
  2. Those all sounds sooooooooooooooooo good to me, I just had the sleeve on 5/13/2019 and I am on liquids... Follow up appointment on 5/23/2019 so then I hope to have eggs... That's all I'm thinking about right now is eggs... But, hey I'll take it...
  3. I am just 10 days out from having my surgery and I still have so many practical questions for all you bypassers. I am a teacher and was thinking about the whole "hydration machine" mindset that you have to have. In other words, drinking water in small sips all during the day. Can I get away with drinking only in between classes or do I need to make sure that I drink during classes as well? What do you all think?

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

No pre op liquid diet but I have been tracking calories and making better choices over the last 3 months and the surgeon was happy with the 10 pounds I've managed to lose since my last visit. I'm not since that's so little for 3 months although I really have only been getting stricter with myself for two months. Still not very much. I've done keto and atkins before so watching carbs and protein is something I am familiar with. I'm getting gradually used to having 1200 calories or less a day. I've signed the consent forms. I cleaned out two Grocery Outlet stores of Siggi's plain yogurt today. It was 2 for a dollar. 16 g of protein, 6 carbs, 4g of sugar and 90 calories. They are so creamy and delicious and provide a lot of protein. Usually they are 2.00 each at the other stores so I stocked up but it was maybe 8 or 9 in total. They mostly had the sugar filled flavored ones.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Transforming, I don’t thing most Feb surgeries have lost 70lbs. I’m a revision from sleeve to rny, 2/12/19, and I’ve lost 40lbs since surgery, 50 including the preop diet. I lost 28lbs in the 6 months leading up to the preop diet though.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Hi everyoneI I don't think I've posted in here before. I'm more of a lurker. I had surgery on Feb 6, 2019. I'm 5' 6". My HW was 323, SW was 305, and I'm currently bobbing between 268-273. I've been stalled at the bobbing point since April 9th. My question is, I see a lot of you have lost 70+ lbs. Does this seem to be the average for most all of us who had surgery in Feb? I know starting weight is a factor, as well as age and many other things. I'm being honest with my self here, I don't work out like I need to be (Low energy). i'm loosing inches though. I'm down 27 inches from my surgery. Which is what's keeping me somewhat sane. Also my hair started falling out two weeks ago 😕 I knew it was possible, so I wasn't too shocked about it. Point of all this is; How and where is everyone in their journey?
  7. I had bypass 3/23/19 and I need a new dietician my dietitian is THEE WORSE! I have never seen her in person she never responds. She gave me a booklet with diet parameters for me to follow and left me on my own. I continue to call my surgeon and his nurse for meals etc. Please if anyone knows if a bariatric dietician/ nutritionist in my area I'm in Riverside California please message me with their info I'm desperate!

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Uggg, I decided to try an experiment by upping carbs and calories a bit since I’ve been keeping everything very low. I’m a bit nervous that if I keep everything this low I’ll have no room to drop further if weight loss stops. So I had 1/4 c of oatmeal (no sugar) and 1/2 sf Greek yogurt for breakfast. For lunch I had tuna and 1/4 c of Mexican corn and I swear I have felt like I’m staving. I don’t usually snack between meals, so this feeling is unusual for me. I already had cheese/almond/craisen snack thing, 9 carbs, but dabs I feel like I’m shaky and starving already. Clearly I can’t handle 10 carbs at a time I guess....
  9. I am 70 and just had it done on Monday. It was a revision from the Gastric Sleeve that I had about 10 years ago.

Friends- some advice - Follow the rules or else. It has been exactly 2 weeks since my surgery and I have been 100% compliant with the diet. When I transitioned to mushies (day 10), I made a bunch of different purées (tuna, buffalo chicken dip, beans and salsa, spinach artichoke, sweet potato, eggplant, mashed cauliflower, baked ricotta). I added gene pro to the veggies and packaged them in 3 ounce containers (except for the ricotta since I was using a slightly bigger container to bake in - 4 ounces). So things were going fine and I had no problems with drinking or mushies...UNTIL last night! I had eaten the ricotta twice before but added a bunch more tomato sauce and I think I ate it in two sittings or really slow. Last night I was out of tomato sauce and it was getting late so I ate almost the whole thing before I suddenly felt full...I was almost finished so I took another bite...BIG mistake. I was so uncomfortably full and bloated almost immediately. About an hour later I tried to go to sleep. I ended up throwing up about 6 times during the night (lasted 8 -9 hours). Plus had severe stomach cramping. It was awful and scary. So this is my warning. Mistake 1 - ricotta bake is not a mushy unless thinned with tomato sauce Mistake 2 - eating more than 3 ounces Mistake 3 - laying down only one hour after eating (I never noticed this rule but my plan says 2 hours). Hope this helps. Stella

    May 2019 Surgeries 🎉

Is there a lot of medicine youll take when you get back home? And will you have to purchase medicine from them if you run out? I was sent home with Omeprazole (GERD meds), Oxycodone for moderate to severe pain (I have taken 2 in a week and tbh they were as much due to Migraines as it was surgery pain), Prochlorperazine (anti-nausea), and told to avoid Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Advil, etc but that Tylenol in reasonable doses and intervals would be okay. Best way to get rid of the gas is to walk. Walk to the mailbox, walk around the house, etc. I had a challenge after surgery staying awake to keep my Fluid intake up (in the hospital). The next day I had to make more of an effort but I was able to and was discharged about 3 PM from a 10:30 procedure the day before.
  13. I have lost 135 pounds since my journey began at my HW of 390. Surgery day 7/12/2018, I weighed 368. At 5 months, 12/17/2018, I weighed 268. However, weight loss has been slow even though I am still eating healthy and small amounts. I work out, but not steady due to my work and family balance obligations...but trying to get better at getting to the gym rather than making excuses. Time is a constant struggle though! I am currently at 255 at 10 months. I am proud and a true life changer! Working hard but definitely not easy as it once was. I went from a size 28 to a 16 in pants; and from a 5x to an XL or 1x in shirts.
  14. Still here and still observing and learning. I’m now >3 months post-surgery so not quite ready to jump on the IF train just yet Question: when did most of y’all feel like you were far enough out from surgery to start IF? My sleeve is usually so tight in the morning that I’m basically doing 14:10 or 15:9 every day because about the only thing besides water I can take in before 11am is coffee with a couple ounces milk. Once midday to early evening hits, I can hold about 1-1.25 cups of food in my sleeve before the pain hits

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Update: Was foolish enough to get on the scale this morning. I’m UP 1.2 pounds from yesterday. 😭😭😭😭😱😱😱😱 This is after making a concerted effort to drink 96 ounces plus water per day and keeping my calories below 700. Yeah so because the math just doesn’t add up, I’d say I’m in for a rough 2-3 weeks coming up. Okay so I’m looking for ideas for NSV. I measured this morning and I’ll check back with measurements in about 10 days then re-weigh. Until then, the scale goes into hiding. I’m having my hubs take it to his lab and I don’t see it again until the 25th.
  16. I'm not sure if I'm on track or if I'm being too hard on myself so I'm fishing for other people's results I guess you could say. I had VSG on 2/20/2019. I was 273 that morning at the hospital but came home at 279 from fluids (I suppose since it surely wasn't from eating ). Today I am 231. There have been several days of no movement on the scale, which discourages me because I know I'm not eating much so it's frustrating! I have my 3-month post-op appt. on Monday and am hoping to see 229, which would be 44 pounds according to their scales since 2/20/2019. Granted, I've never lost 44 pounds in 3 months so I'm pleased but I'm just curious.

    Onederland, 5 yrs ago. Now...

I agree with the above poster. Go back to basics - dense protein first, then veggies. Maybe an occasional piece of fruit or whole-grain carb. Lots of people have regain - better 27 lbs than 100 lbs!! It'll take awhile to get it off, but it WILL come off. I'm fighting a 10 lb gain myself... I'm sure your tool still works - you just need to rein in your eating

    MAY 2019 Sleevers

Surgery was on 5/13/2019 and came home yesterday from the hospital. Dr. said everything went well and no issues at all.. As soon as I came home I drank a big gulp of G2 not thinking of the ramifications of gulping. We'll I know the ramification now, straight to the sink and it is not very delightful to throw up with 85% of your stomach gone. So I got it now. Overall, feeling good but still some pain and still have some gas to get out. Popsicles, Premier Protein, broth, G2 (slowly), and Jello for the next 10days til I see my surgeon on 5/23/2019 to hopefully move on to Phase 2. But, let me tell you guy something, this ain't no joke pain wise when u wake up in recovery and you first night in the hospital. So don't think this is a joke and u will be running marathons any time soon. Just give yourself sometime to heal, that's what I am doing... Best of luck guys and if you have any questions let me know....

    June 2019!!! Surgery Siblings!!!

Hi. My date is 11th June... pre op diet starts next sin 26th may. Just got my final confirmation from consultant. Cannot believe this is happening. Its surreal as of its not happening. Need to get my head together to focus on preparation for weeks post op. Im work full time and mum to 3 kids aged 13, 10 and 7 years. Lost and regained weight - 5 stone. Can lose it.. maintenance is the challenge for me xx Sent from my SM-G935F using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. My surgeon let me make the choice, but gave recommendations. I choose sleeve before I met him. It's less risky, less long term factors of malnutrition. The success rates are within 10% of each other after 10 years. Regrets... I loved food, still do, but this has given me a reset on what's needed, not wanted. But honestly, if I had to decide it over again, most defiantly I would do it again, best choice I've ever made. I'm now reaching my health and weight goals/dreams. Life has changed, restaurants no longer interest me like they use to... nothing comes in "Shawn" portions. But it has empowered me to get in shape. I swim every other day, and life weights every other day so I'm working out 4 days a week at least. My typical meal... It's not a "meal" but a snack for most people. I'm a one-taco person, 4 chicken nuggets, 1/2 a cup of orange chicken and I'm done. What really effect my are sweet liquids - ice cream. and I LOVE some ice cream. But it makes me SOOO sick that I have to stop at 3 table spoons, otherwise I'm in a fetal position in bed for two hours. But I still get it, just in moderation. But that was my problem - no moderation and I blew up to 330lbs. So yes, I'm very happy with my health now.
