    New here - need advice

Yes, the "3 week stall" is quite common. I didn't lose a bit for a week, I just stuck with the plan and the loss did resume. I proceeded into soft solids, which raised my calories some, and my loss started back.

Oh wow, didn't know that the "3 week stall" was actually a thing, makes sense though, thank you so much ????

    New here - need advice

You will be on the 3 week stall - its quite common - its just your body adjusting.. the scale will move again soon - just keep sticking to the plan.
  4. I had my surgery on May 19th 2015, so I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op. At my 2 week appointment, I was down 34 lbs, now it's 37 lbs down. I'm approaching week 3 and I keep hearing about the 3 week stall. If it happens, oh well, at least I know it's only temporary. I'm going to keep on doing what I've been doing to drop the initial weight, pick up the exercise and push through the stall (if it even happens) like a champ. 93 lbs to go to hit my goal! I can't wait to fit in to some of my old clothes!
  5. The 3 week stall is real. As it has already been stated on this thread, weight loss is not an exact science and does not always follow the laws of physics. *drops Mic*
  6. I think the 3 week stall is real and there is a scientific explanation for it out there somewhere. I was doing everything right and didn't lose for 3 weeks. However, any other stall or plateau (pre or post op) have been related to my actions. If I do things right, I lose weight. And I can only speak for myself here.
  7. I had my surgery on Jan 21st and hit that dreaded 3 week stall. I was in that stall for about a month and a week. And now my 2 stall is happening now. I have been sitting at the same weight since APRIL 21st. I'm losing my mind!!!! Did you all hit your second stall so soon?

    Stalls?

Stalls suck ass, but I've just accepted them as part of the process. I always keep in mind that you want the overall trend of your weight to be down and not up. A 2-3 week stall may seem hopeless and feel like an eternity. But if you're not gaining any weight either, I don't see it as a problem. Just keep doing what you're doing. It's a marathon not a sprint.
  10. I've lost 76.6 since my highest. And 63.6 since March 11th. I've dropped 2 sizes in pants. I lost a bunch at the beginning but has tapered off and I'm losing at a regular rate now 1-2 lbs a week. I did have an almost 3 week stall and then all of a sudden I dropped 10lbs in a week. So it made up for it!
  11. @@Miss Mac - so you stalled at 3 or so weeks post op? That's what I thought the 3 week stall was when I referred to it earlier and was told something different. I am 3 weeks 5 days out and the scale hasn't moved since last Thursday.
  12. @@LipstickLady thanks for clarifying the 3 week stall. I have lost weight over the years and of course gained it back and I am familiar with the lose weight...stall (plateau)....lose weight....stall (plateau). I just haven't seen it move in two days and I am seeing "Taylor" more and more. I will keep trying on those tight shorts and see if I can get them up Thanks for your words of wisdom, as always you are good at pointing out the reality of our new life. The scales numbers don't really matter, just good for keeping me on track. Jane

    I'm driving myself crazy

Yes, you're weighing every day. Stop doing that. Seriously. You won't have any stalls if you don't get on the scale. I stepped on the scale about 6 times in the first 3 months, so I never had a 3 week stall. The scale didn't help me lose 100 pounds. I did that by eating healthy, drinking water, taking my vitamins and being active. That's ALL you have to do.
  14. I was sleeved on 3/20/15 and total weight gone is 35 pounds since surgery. I hit a 3 week stall that just ended a few days ago. I changed up my exercise routine and food intake and the scale moved again. I actually fit on the ALL carnival rides today..... first time since 2007. I was so happy I happy I cried. Good Job to everyone! It's not an easy journey, but it's YOUR journey, make the most of it.

    I'm driving myself crazy

ok I had my surgery 5/11 and I've lost 18lbs. Tomorrow will begin my 2nd week and for the last 5 days I haven't lost a single pound. I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I have been. I know there's the 3 weeks stall but I'm not even in my 2nd week. I am still drinking 2 protein shakes a day and getting about 65-70 grams of protein per day. is there anything else I can change, am I doing something wrong?
  16. I've heard of the 3rd week stall! And guess how many weeks post op am I? Yep three weeks, but now my scale is saying am up a pound or two. And it's messing with my head! Is it because am on soft foods? Am feeling confused.

Stalling at 3 weeks Am i alone?

@@nikireed4_22 You just has major surgery. I remember it took me a good 5 weeks to start feeling like myself. This will all be a distant memory soon. As far as the stall, it's the classic 3 week stall 99% of people go through. There are many, many threads on this forum about it if you want to read up why it happens. @@Katie K Kitt It is frustrating isn't it?? But it won't last. You will lose weight, I promise. Just keep in mind that those of you who don't have a ton of weight to lose will find that the weight loss will be slower. Just the way it is. Work on meeting your fluid and protein goals these first several weeks. Staying hydrated and getting enough protien for healing is what's most important right now, not the number on the scale.
  18. I did 2 weeks of protein shakes plus 1 healthy meal per day and then 2 weeks of just protein shakes (I waited until I had my surgery date to start). I lost 23 pounds. It was a nice jump start, particularly since I gained in the hospital from all the fluids and then hit the 3 week stall. Since then have been at about 10 lbs per mo average. had hoped for more but its all good. All good.

    SURGERY MAY 4!

@@kikilay17 I totally just saw your post and am so sorry it took so long to respond lol!! First of all this woman's video is awesome and her arms looks AH-MAZING! Yeah you can see the bat wing a little, but they are so toned and jacked you can hardly tell! Thanks for the vid, just wait you will be the squat queen and have a great butt!! I've literally been lifting weights every night! I see a little bit of definition in my arms, so it def is working, but it needs to happen faster lol @@Alyssa0102 Hiiii, the surgery went really well! They sent me home from the hospital the next day and I've been doing good ever since. Still not 100% fully recovered, but getting there! I'm on the puree stage now, and although it is better than the liquids, I'm getting tired of the same old meals. I'm counting down the days until I could eat soft foods (4 DAYS) and I couldn't be more excited! I did have a little run-in last night.. I tried making these pureed broccoli/parm cheese/panko break crumbs "pancakes" (I did fry them in the pan with a little olive oil), and idk if I ate too much or just shouldn't have eaten that particular food, but I threw it all up! As much as I HATE throwing up, it really keeps you accountable for what you put into your body and keeps you on track. So far I've lost about 25lbs, and trying really hard to get outta the 300's! I feel like I'm stalling a bit.. I'm eating right and exercising daily, but the numbers on the scale aren't moving as fast as I want them to! I've read about 2/3 week stalls where your body is adjusting to the change and you don't really lose weight (but lose inches), so maybe thats what I'm going through right now... OMG 130lbs down?! That's amazing, congrats!!! So you had your surgery Feb of last year? I want to around the same amount of weight, maybe a little more! How is the excess skin and how do you feel mentally and physically?! Are there any tips or advice you can give me?
  20. I too thought the weight would come off faster but I am more than pleased with what I have accomplished so far. I know I have quite a ways to go but so far so good One thing you need to consider too is that even when you are not dropping pounds you will still be dropping inches. During my "3 week stall" I didn't lose a pound but still lost inches so I did not give up hope. I just started at the gym a couple of weeks ago and see that working out really does make a difference in how I feel and the pounds that I lose per week. One thing to remember is every body is different so don't compare yourself to others just be proud of what you have been able to accomplish

    Not losing anything? ?

I'm 10 weeks out, and I eat about 500-650 calories per day. I avoid Pasta, bread, rice, anything really sweet, I feel sick to my stomach when I attempt to consume them. 3 weeks into my journey I hit a stall, and now the weight is coming off very slowly. My 3 month appointment is scheduled for the first week of May and I'm nervous about going since my surgeon made me feel bad about my 3 week stall. I keep having stalls and they are frustrating but don't feel bad some people it doesn't drop off others it does! I am 10 weeks out also and I have dropped 71lb so far!
  22. @@IndieDivaIN if you search for "3 week stall" you will come across lots of posts from so many that stalled at the same time. It's typical so don't worry, this isn't the end of the road for you.

    Stalling so soon?

My "dreaded 3 week stall" started at 2 weeks and lasted 2 1/2 weeks! UGH!!! Try upping your protein or your calories (I know that sounds strange), but it might help. Also, make sure you're drinking enough water! Good luck!

Post op day 3 and struggling

In my packet of info from the hospital it actually says "you may feel you are on an emotional Rollercoaster" It will get better, right now....don't look any farther then today. One day at a time. If you actually feel hungry it may be acid in the stomach, or head hunger. We go from eating whatever whenever to not eating at all. It's really hard, but let me tell you....it's worth it. You are going to be amazed at how good your going to feel. It was my 3rd week out when I noticed I felt pretty darn good. Pain subsided, started a little excercise. Then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and got really down on myself. With the words of others I realised this was just time my body needed to play catch up. I'm 20 weeks out and down 80pounds. I feel like a new person, and soon you will too. Just get through one day at a time (it's all that wacky stuff going on inside our bodies that makes up weepy)

    Stalling so soon?

Do a search for stalls and you will see that Babbs is right. Your question has been addressed dozens of times. There is actually a whole subforum on here that you should go to "Don't Sweat The Stall Stuff". But the most important thing I can tell you this early on is STAY Off THE SCALE! Stalls are gonna happen, and if you aren't obsessing over the stupid numbers you won't even know about them. I never had a 3 week stall because I only weighed at the doctors office. you should be concentrating on staying hydrated, getting in all your Protein and eating healthy.
