    BEFORE PICS

This is me in the last few years as I went through my weight gain and weight loss roller coaster riding between 280lbs and sky rocketing all the way up to 340 (My highest weight ever)
  3. Darn weight gain. It is messing with my head.

  4. See I could only imagine the pain to be comparable to my c-section w/ my second kid. did you have a c-section w/ yours? It was painful. Not able to stand straight up for awhile. I think about a wk and a half out I was feelin' a lot more normal. I will eventually get one when I'm sure I'm done having kids b/c my kids and weight gain destroyed my lower stomach. So far though I am still holding out hope it MIGHT bounce back! haha!

  5. That's awesome! Congrats on your success. I'm down 56 lbs now. I feel wonderful. We have a lot in common. I had a breast reduction too. Only mine was 6 years ago. They had come back a little with the weight gain but are back to the size they were post-reduction - Thank Goodess! My goal is to loose 25 more lbs and I'm hoping I can do that by my one year anniversary. Wish me luck and much success as you continue your journey! Take Care!

  6. Getting band refilled after 15lbs weight gain... OUCH!

  7. It's probably water retention. When I was obese, the only way I could not retain water is to consume around 90-100 ounces of water per day. 64oz was just enough, but for me to get the kidneys kicking and filtering better, I had to increase the water intake. It was tough, but I managed it.

I would definitely check with you PCP and have some labs pulled to ensure there is not an underlying cause for the weight gain.

I am not sure if this could affect your weight loss.

Best wishes on getting your date.

  8. Tiff-

Did you have any problems with weight gain or difficulty losing or anything like that post GB? I am nervous about this...

I will watch for your post... and I can't thank you enough! You are SO helpful! =)

  9. These are some pics of me in 2000 when I got married and I looked and felt my best. I had lost 60 pounds doing Atkins to lose the weight.
  10. Greetings sleeve sisters! I am back on track from the cruise weight gain, and I lost 5lbs this week. I am at 185.4 (whoot, whoot) only 15-20lbs from goal. Let's be thankful and greatful for these beautiful bodies that carry the real us...wich is our spirit's. Light & Love to all on this journey and it is a JOURNEY not a DESTINATION!

  11. I have been at my goal weight for months now! So happy BUT I just found out yesterday that I'm Pregnant! Im so scared of the weight gain and yet Im scared I wont eat enough for the baby!! HELP!!

  12. Doing well- feeling more and more like me. I am so close to being able to say that I have lost 80 lbs already! I love that when ever I get on the scale it is either going down or staying the same- no weight gain!

  13. Getting back on track. Being miserable and regretful of my weekend weight gain was getting me nowhere. Onward and upward.

  14. Okay, I watch a lot of lap band patients on youtube and most of them seem to have an accountability partner. So how many of you here have an accountability partner and if you do, how does he/she help to keep you on track? I have been struggling for 5 days now and have gained some weight (not a lot though), but weight gain is not part of this journey.
  15. Feeling glum when you have been brave enough to put yourself through SURGERY in order to try and manage your weight and health better, and you have strived hard to follow your diet plan, and you have been admonished by your doctor (!!!! how dare s/he!!!!) for your pre-op weight loss, and you are being deprived of all the ways you soothed your moods with food previously, well feeling glum sounds absolutely normal and acceptable to me! And so you reached out and asked for support....well done. What all this says to me is that you are being human, normal, acting in your best interest, are persevering, are trying to cope with temporary disappointment, and are going to be ok, because you have the self-caring to ask for support. Well done, but not because of the seven pounds but because of your honesty and dedication. You now need to look at yourself and glow with pride at your courage and tenacity mixed with vulnerability and authenticity. Time.....healing.....getting there....and you will, I am sure. Thanks for sharing. I for one have felt glum, angry, despondent, wondered why on earth I submitted my otherwise healthy body to surgery, why I can't just get on with it without all this, felt helpless, bordering on hopeless....then elated, proud, happy, energised....and then bored, forced to look at my weight gaining behaviour, forced to be brutally honest with myself....and accepting that a body is a body and has its own means of rebelling, doing things its own way, being complex and difficult to comprehend...and still having faith that in the LONG TERM it is going to be ok and it will work. It has been 23 days since surgery and I have stagnated, but this WILL change because this is how I have previously given up on dieting, and with a lap band implanted in me, well it is drastic, and I can't give up....so I won't...and that is why I had it put in me, because KEEPING GOING is what has always defeated me. Thank you so much for your honesty. Lynda
  16. Has anyone that hasn't lost like they thought they should, found that a medication they were on was responsible? I know some medications cause weight gain, appetite changes, etc. I take Paxil and oral birth control and am wondering if either of these or possibly both are partly to blame for my EXTREMELY slow weight loss (banded 18 mos and down 15 pounds!!!!)

    Weight Gain!?

I don't think a little weight gain soon after the surgery is uncommon or anything to worry about. Just focus on the protocol and let it run it's course. If it gets to seven or more pounds, then you probably will want to talk to your doctor.
  18. I am a former LapBand patient. I unfortunately had to have the LapBand removed in February of 2009 because of complications that my surgeon didn't catch early on. Because of the complications (the band slipped, causing an extra pouch above my stomach and severe scarring on my stomach), I cannot get another band put on. I recently heard of the VSG on TV and have been contemplating this surgery. When I had the band removed, I was told my only option was a gastric bypass, but I have not met one person that hasn't had to be re-hospitalized because of severe complications with the bypass - so that just isn't an option for me - scares me a little too much. So, I am wondering if this surgery would be a better fit. Through the different forums I have read throughout this web-site, it does seem like there are a lot of similarities in the side-effects with the 2 surgeries. So, I guess I am wondering if there is anyone out there that also had the LapBand removed and had this surgery done? Or, if anyone that has had this surgery done, can you tell me a little bit about your experience -- how the weight loss has gone, how much you are eating, etc. I have gained 85 of the 120 I lost and it really is depressing. Especially when I try my hardest to eat healthy and exercise. I really want to run with my kids again and have the energy back that I have lost with this weight gain. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and any information you could provide -- that would just wonderful!!!
  19. I am about a month and a halg post op and I have only been weighing myself once a week. Today when I stepped on the scale, I gained 5lbs. Is it normal to gain?
  20. I have to start my liquid diet now, even before I have a surgery date because I gained 3 pounds since April. I think mostly from quitting smoking. I have everything done, just an ultrasound because they found gallstones when they did my upper GI. I am really dreading it, but hopefully I can get through it. I am waiting my doctor is sending my paperwork to get approval from the ins company, BCBS of Mass. Does anyone have experience with being denied because of a weight gain? Even just 3 pounds? Dr. Didn't seem to be too concerned, but I have to go to the nutritionist to start my liquid diet now, even before getting a surgery date, who she said could be November!! Don't think I can last that long on a liquid diet!!!

How much did you lose pre-op?

It's been 6 months and I've lost over 30 lbs. I was only required to lose 18 and my surgery probably won't be until May. I hope I'm still losing as weight gain might be a deal breaker for them. I'm trying.
  22. Has anyone ever gained weight during your pre-op liquid diet? I'm on day 7 and every day the scale was lower and lower, but today I'm 2 lbs heavier. :/ I'm wondering if my metabolism is slowing down and storing fat. Can that be a possibility?

  24. Hello all! I am curious about the 6 mo diet, I have my weigh in tomorrow morning for my 5th month. I am concerned that I will have gained a pound or two. My start weight was 274 and currently I am at 264. My weigh in last month was 262. Has anyone been declined due to weight gain like this?? I have not planned on it, but should i try laxatives to get those two pounds off? I would DIE if i got declined for a stupid 2 lbs weight gain. Any information about The 6 Mo supervised diet would be greatly appreciated!
