    All or Nothing?

I definitely ate off plan, many times significantly so. But I never went into this with illusion I would be perfect. I knew that for me to be successful long term I'd need balance. Feeling deprived is the death of my will power. So I have never "cheated" because nothing was ever not allowed, for me. But I did practice discipline whenever possible, either easy situations (eating at home), or if I was feeling virtuous (ordering roast chicken at a restaurant). I never lost sight of my goal of being a healthy weight. So even when I went off plan, I knew that soon enough I'd get back on track. I never considered giving up, or any long term back sliding.

    My first fill!

I got my first fill yesterday and was given 1.5 cc. However I have 2cc in total, was very surprised tolearn that I already had .5cc since surgery. Which got me to wondering how common is it to be given a small fill during surgery. Either way I'm happy because they didn't want to give me a fill since I have been loosing consistantly. I hope this fill will help increase my weight loss.

    4 days out and scared!

I gained 12lbs, it was gone in a week. It was hard learning to juggle liquid, protein, and vitamins. In the beginning the only thing I had success with was vitamins - everything else fell way short. Liquid is the most important to avoid dehydration but it's hard to get what you need at first. The protein happens gradually over time. Take it slow. Drink, make everything you eat count, get vitamins on a schedule that works for you. Walk as often as you can. Give yourself time - the liquid and protein will gradually increase as you heal. :-)

    4 days out and scared!

I gained 11 pounds from the IV! It was gone in about a week. Molly 10/2/13
  5. With the combo of losing weight before and after surgery my boobs have vanished. I've went from a va-voom 44DD and post op almost 3 months I'm now a 35C. Id even say it could be a possible B cup cause my boobs are swimmig on my C cup bra. I'm only 3 months out... I'm scared to see where I'll be at post op 1 year.
  6. I exercise a lot, kickboxing 6 days a week. I'm hoping I can control some of it, I'm only 28, so I hope that helps too. My arms already look a bit flappy though. At this point the only things I would get done is my lower stomach if I have quite a bit there. Also I always promised myself when I lost weight I would get my boobs done. They've always been saggy and I've always hated them. The rest I'd be happy just being thin. If I cant find anyone who likes me for who I am, then it'll just be me and the dogs...lol
  7. I gave up, My insurrance company said they do not cover any kind of weight loss, pills, Gym memberships, or any type of W/L surgery. My husband called and complained, because we have insurrance through the union. He told them I work my butt off for the union and we can't even have good ins. He said fine my wife will just have to rack up a bill for ins to cover with all her health issues. One month later, We got a letter today- Says as of Jan 2007 we now cover Gastric Bypass types of surgery. YES!!!! :) :Banane33: :D :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) So now 6 months of supervised diet and excercise and we are set.
  8. I have BSBC and was banded 4/29/10 For the 5 year history I just had to fill out the paperwork and I guessed alot on the dates, diets and weight. They did not ask for actual documentation. They do ask for and need prove of a 6 mos. medically supervised diet in the past year. It does not need to consecutive. I had only 4 mos. and I did that diet with my PCP 6 mos before, so they let me do a 2 mo diet with the Lap Band Dietition. BSBC accepted that. They approved me the very first time my Doctor summited the paperwork. I am in California so hopefully it will be the same. Call BSBC and request the requirments for WLS. They should send you a packet describing exactly what they cover and the requirments. My consult was in Jan and banded 3 mos later. I am still in shock. Good luck, and keep us posted! Feel free to PM me if you have any more ???
  9. That is my exact goal weight as well!!!!! I feel like the weight loss stalls and then all of a sudden boom a couple pounds come off!!! I am really happy right now.. Good luck to you!!
  10. You can look up samples on google. I had to have one of these too. Basically its just your dr explaining to the insurance why he thinks you should have this surgery. Any medical problems, how long he has been treating you, different weight loss attempts. I have a bmi of 44 also, I'm sure your dr. would be on board. If not, do you have another dr you could go to to get it?
  11. Hello, I'm considering having my band removed and converting to either the vertical sleeve or RNY surgery. I'm interested in hearing from people that have been in this position. Specifically, during recovery from band removal did you lose any weight? How long did you wait to have the second surgery (RNY or VS)? I had my band placed by Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Monterrey, MX in March of 2004. I had decent success with the band, losing 70lbs in my first 7 months post op, but then after getting pregnant I stopped losing weight. I ended up having two children post banding and overall am down 40lbs. I have not lost weight for the past 5 years and now realize that an expectation of further weight loss is not realistic. My insurance will be changing effective April 1, 2011 and will exclude bariatric surgery so I will be going very quickly through the revision, insurance approval and surgery process in the next 4 months. Corrie
  12. I started at 270 and was sleeved on April 3rd. Today I am 228 and it feels unbelievable. Prior to surgery I set a "goal" of being 225 for my son's graduation. Well, that day is tomorrow and I definitely feel like the goal has been achieved. It was such an arbitrary number and to reach is it something I never thought could become my reality. I love that my three sons and daughter celebrate with me. Last weekend I wore a bathing suit and asked my seventeen year old son if he could tell I had lost weight. He looked me up and down then said "your thighs are smaller". For my teenage son to notice was a huge compliment. I have a long way to go but feel like it IS possible which is a new feeling.

    Multifocal Lens Implant

Now that I have had my RNY surgery, meet (and exceeded) my surgeon's weight loss goal and am starting to get self conscious about my short comings I am thinking about getting multifocal lens implants http://yaldoeyecenter.com/multifocal-lens-implants. I just turned 50 in February and I have bifocal glasses and hearing aids (due to loud noises on the flight line (when I was in the Army) and I am pretty self conscious about the hearing aids and the bifocals. I know I can't do anything about the hearing aids but I think I can do something about needing glasses. I already tried contact lenses but that didn't work too well. Has anyone had this procedure done and if so are you happy with it? TIA, Phil
  14. Looking for someone to be a lap band buddy with we can walk and do other things about our weight loss.
  15. I finally made it under 200!! It's been 10 years since I've seen a 1 in the front of my weight. Never thought I would be there again. So thankful I decided to go through the surgery. My HW was 247.4 I lost 10 before surgery which was on 1/31/17. So I am currently down a total of 48lbs!!

  17. I am going to be getting a port revision in the next 2 weeks or so, because of a leak my Dr. found on May 27th. I am pretty discouraged as I have gained almost 20 lbs over the course of 2 months. I am hoping to use this poll to help me see what might happen after revision surgery. Any stories or advice is welcome!

Anyone with a leak and revision?

:Dancing_biggrin: I am just wondering if, after having the leak fixed, there was any change in how fast of slow they lost the weight as opposed to how fast or slow they lost before they even had a leak.
  19. I haven't read the comments because I know what people are capable of saying about obese people and I really don't want to fill my mind with more of that junk. I would bet that a lot of them have weight problems themselves and attack this man to make themselves feel better. Just like former_vbg said, they're just relieved it isn't them. I hope he gets the help he needs. Maybe that doctor from My 600lb Life can perform WLS.
  20. People who have NEVER had weight issues have no idea what a slippery slope it is. It starts with a few MORE pounds that what we are used to hauling around...which makes it harder and harder to do everyday things. Pretty soon it is easier to just NOT do things...and just sit...and eat...and sit...and eat...and fast forward a few years. I totally agree with Cookie..."There but by the grace of God, go I" Which is a scary scary thought!!
  21. Found an old WL journal I kept in 2007 and 2008. Except I started from 288 as my high weight instead of 314. I made a list of reasons I wanted to lose weight and they are all true except now I have 2 kids so those 2 would be the first 2. Funny how nothing much has changed in 7 years except a higher weight. Same reasons and same back and forth. Except this time I am taking a new measure and getting banded.

Is The Band Meant To Stay In Forever?

The lap band is supposed to stay in for life, unless you have a complication that requires its removal. The generally accepted thoughts on it is that if you remove it in the future even after losing lots of weight, you will gain it back, even if it is slowly since you would be able to go back to eating the volume of food you did prior to getting the band. Hope this helps, Stacey

    Gym?

I can use light hand weights and, of course, walk. I am looking forward to getting back to Pilates classes after the six week mark, although it is going to be rough to start again with loose abs.
  24. I am pre-surgery. I thought I would have more energy after surgery and weight loss.

    Seminar tonight ????

Congrats! That's super exciting. I definitely felt more secure after going to the seminar. It put me in the right direction, now everything is falling into place. I have to complete my 3 months medically supervised weight loss (which in my case, is 1 class every week for 3 months). After that, i just have like 1 or 2 more things to do, and then I can send in my info for approval from my insurance..
