    170LBS & MAINTAINING !!!

I can't believe how much weight you've lost in such a short time. Congrats! But that's a man for you...they can cut out one gram of carbs a day and lose 50 pounds in three days....😉

    170LBS & MAINTAINING !!!

Congratulations! That's a lot of weight in such a short time.
  3. I just returned from a cruise...I did everything I could to eat, and drink, anything I wanted. However, because of the band, and the restriction I have, it was impossible to do and I lost weight. It was no different than any other day. But sine you are a newbie, you have no alternative but to diet the old fashioned way, counting Calories and good old will power. I don't think you have much of a risk of getting stuck. You have not had a single fill yet, let alone anything near optimal. Don't forget to get your Protein and Water, exercise every day, and use the stairs instead of the elevators. Other that that.......
  4. With just one fill, you will probably have very little to no restriction so you shouldn't have any problem with getting "stuck". The most important thing to remember is DO NOT OVER EAT! There is always food available on a cruise ship, so you don't need to eat everything at once. I have cruised frequently, and even before the band I rarely gained weight on a cruise because I keep in mind that if I don't have room for it now, I can just have it later, therefore, I rarely get that stuffed feeling. Also, like B-52 said, take the stairs everywhere!
  5. Just need to vent.... I was having some complications after my last fill in September. I couldn't eat anything without throwing it up. I went back for 2 unfills and it never got better. And don't lecture me....but I let it go for about 4 months because I was losing weight. In those 4 months, I lost 25 pounds. Yes, it was because I couldn't keep anything down, but for a while I was okay with that. The worst parts were the acid reflux at night keeping me awake and my 2 year old son asking me if I needed to throw up during our meals. He didn't need to think of his mommy like that. So I finally confessed my sins to my surgeon and he did a complete unfill. He said my stomach and esophagus are swollen and irritated and they needed a break. In 6 weeks he will start sloooooowly filling me back up with only 1 cc at a time. When I first started this crazy ride, I was eating so well, getting all my lean Protein in, eating the right portions and Snacks. But over the past couple of months, I started back on my old habits: fast food, Cookies, chips, etc. I knew the food was going to come right back up, so what did it matter what I ate? So now that I don't have the tool of the band's restriction, I can eat whatever I want and however much I want. It's disgusting actually...I will wait til no one is in the kitchen and they're all occupied in their own rooms and I will just inhale whatever food I can find. If you were to video me during one of these episodes, I would deny that monster was me. I have already gained 7 pounds since my visit to the doctor last week. I don't want to undo all the good I've done over the past year. I've lost 70 pounds and don't want to go backwards! Encouraging words? Similar experiences?
  6. And if you go back far enough the Dunns came from Dundee Scotland. My own paternal great grandmother came from Edinburgh, from whence came my Celtic RedGold hair. One day when I was feeling down on myself I told someone I looked like Mama Cass from the Mama's and Papas and John Candy had a love child. But as I lose weight the true me will emerge from my fat wrap, what I am is a greatly enlarged Junior size, smaller than the average in the chest for my weight, so when I achieve my goal size of 15 the real underneath Frustr8 is not a woman size, a little more athletic and dare I say a more tomboyish build. May take a year or 2 but I am going to rock this world, if Donald Trump and Kim jong Un haven't blown i🌏 or themselves up!

    My experience so far.

It has been exactly 2 weeks since my surgery and I am no longer sore or achy from the operation. I am still eatting soft/ mushy foods and am ok with that so far still......I did try scrambled eggs on day 10 and it didnt go down well.....I did not throw up but salivated alot for 5 minutes until it passed and then I was fine. I am down 22 pounds since I began my 3 day pre-op diet. Starting weight was 230 and now I am 208. Sometimes I am happy I did it, other times, not so much......it's still early and I am still getting used to everything.......

    Weight loss update

Yes so often we holler about what we think we need , we fail to see how blessed we are, we have come so far, and we Have Got to Become ME-CHEERLEADERS in our lives. We might turn out to be an inspiration to others who are struggling through the quicksand and briars of their own trek. Wouldn't it be nice if someone said Because of You, I didn't give up! And a drum roll please! Almost 7 months out, 130 pounds+ since my highest weight, 80 since surgery and proud to say 238.8 pounds, 5 and 3/4 pounds less than Tomkitten ,my son, I am vibrating with joy, he's a tad peeved at the accomplishment, used to hearing me get nagged by one and all medical personages to LOSE LOSE LOSE, wait till I go back for my yearly, they are gonna be SURPRISED! A couple dropped news would be good for the old Ego!👈👸👉

Only 1 Day Of Liquid Diet?

Three days ago, before I "officially" started my pre-op diet, I went ahead and splurged one last time. Me, My husband and my daughter went to Outback Steakhouse and I went all out on my favorite food - A bloomin' onion (we all shared) Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and Shrimp (I could only eat half before I was full) and even a "sample" size of the chocolate Thunder from Down Under which was actually more like a normal size portion instead of the shareable one. It was absolutely scrumptious and so worth it to me. Now I'm 100% sticking to my diet until surgery in two weeks. I think it's normal to have a little bit of mourning before surgery..food has been our friend and companion for many years and it's hard to imagine life without that crutch. Just try to remember how great you'll feel in a few weeks when the weight starts melting off! Make a commitment to stick to the plan from here on out, the more you get off before surgery the easier it will be afterward. Good luck!

    Am I Like You?

I think I have found a found a topic a more controversial than politics or religion .... Lapband! There seems to be so many opinions of what is the right diet, the proper fill, or the exact amount of excorcise ( and YES. I purposely misspelled it ! ) lol! IMHO as Long as you are losing weight in a healthy way since your surgery, ....... It's a good thing! Any weightloss is something to be celebrated since our past dictates otherwise. So, let's celebrate.....1 Lb, 20 Lb, 50Lb, good on ya!

When to go back to work (telecommuting) ?

I am concerned about taking too much time off. When I went through cancer treatment a few years ago I took time off from work and when I came back it was never the same. I ended up losing the job about a year later (found a new job making more money about a week later). This time around I am keeping this whole thing on the down low. I do not think my co-workers need to know I had major surgery. I float between two different offices so people are used to me be missing for a week at a time for no reason. I kinda feel I am going to have to find a new job once I hit my goal weight. I am not sure I want to forever be known as the guy in tax who lost a shitload of weight rather than the amazing CPA tax pro that I am. I'll have to see how it goes as time goes by.

When to go back to work (telecommuting) ?

I've been telecommuting in some form for 15 years - the last 8 have been full time. Most days I consider myself very fortunate - I don't have to drive to work, I get to go to work with my dog every day, I'm here when my son goes to school and comes home, there is a certain amount of freedom. There are drawbacks - you miss the proverbial Water cooler and it's easy to be "forgotten"...out of side out of mind. YOu miss the joking around the office. You can get passed up on promotions. Then there's the "I roll out of bed and start working syndrome" - I really let myself go when I started telecommuting full time. There are days where I don't shower until 5:00 PM and perhaps don't put on real clothes - my work attire can be a t-shirt and yoga pants and no one knows. This makes it easier to not notice the pounds creeping on and let yourself go. Now that I've been fairly successful at losing weight, I realize I need to be accountable for cleaning myself up and putting on big girl pants!

4 MONTH ROLL CALL, HOW MUCH U DOWN, SHARE YOUR NUMBERS

Hi! I am almost 9 months out. Down about 100lbs (254 to 155), from a size 20/22 to a 8/10 pants, 2xl/3xl to a med/large top. I NEVER thought the surgery would be this successful. I am 100% happy with where I am now (weight wise). My friends are actually telling me to stop loosing weight. I have to agree, I can see my collar bone, it's not pretty. I need to focus on toning. I never thought I would say that!!! I wouldn't trade this surgery for anything!! Congratulations everyone on your success!

Sleeve Secret? What Do You Say?

I am pretty slim now so I don't get the comments much anymore but when I do I just say that I am a "small eater". When I first had my surgery and obviously WASN'T a small eaters (ha), I said something similar to the other posters..."oh, I have been snacking all day...not really hungry" or "just getting over a bug and don't have much appetite." My co-workers don't know about my surgery and they do know that I have lost a lot of weight so they chalk up my smaller portions to my "diet". Good luck...it will get easier!
  15. Hey guys. My surgery is scheduled for June 26th. Insurance approval still needs to happen and I need to lose 15 lbs. in the meantime. I'm feeling discouraged, like no matter how hard I try I won't be able to lose weight and get the surgery and could really use some encouragement. Thanks everyone [emoji172]

    What do you eat?

Hi Jackie, When I started out, I did Atkins most of the time. Now as i get further along in my weight loss journey, I need some healthy carbs. I eat chili, Beans, whole wheat Pasta, low carb bread, some low carb pitas etc. I just dont eat much of any one thing. Sample day: 2 cups of coffee Water Protein shake lunch: chili, tuna, low carb toast, chicken, egg beaters with cheese and ham etc. dinner: meat of some kind, vegetable, sometimes a couple of tablespoons of rice or potato. Last night I had chicken soup and a low carb roll with ham, cheese and cucumbers with diet mayo. Snack: Skinny Cow Low carb Peanut Butter and chocolate ice cream, sometimes a low carb chocolate bar or Jello I know, sounds a little boring, but I do eat stuff when I am hungry. What do you eat?

I am throwing this out here for whomever to post. I have been reading everyones post. I have noticed that everyones weight loss is different. Some people lose slow and some fast. Mattie's info on her last post was wonderful. "Mattie thanks for posting the rules and the things that you eat." That has given me some ideas that I know will help me on the long run and will surely use. I am sure there are some newbies and slow losers that would like to ask this question. So I will do it for everyone. We all need some ideas and help on this journey. To all the great losers: The magic ??? is...What are you eating and/or doing that is helping you lose the weight? What has helped you be so successful in your journey? Jackie 4/22/04 331.5/312.5/175 "To Blessed To Be Big"

    Lung Doctor Visit

I think it's because a lot of over weight people have sleep apnea and some surgeons make their patients wake up on their machines. Not sure why but I know my surgeon said there was a possibility that one I'd either wake up with the tube down my throw still or I'd wake up on my cpap. No need to panic either way though, it's just a precaution.
  19. Has anyone stopped losing weight for a few months and then resumed losing weight? Not sure if I would call what I'm experiencing a stall, but I've been stuck between 224-231 since August. I hope I'm not done losing weight as I still would like to lose another 50 lbs and I'm currently down 86. VSG 11/22/2017.

    Advice Please

I hadnt had a tightening in about 4 months. Im currently about 8 tight. I felt very tight in the beginning. But now I can eat much more and wake up starved. Is this normal? Does it mean I can use another tightening? I havent lost weight in about 2 weeks cuz I eat so much... TIA
  22. Hi, my name is Jennifer Gilligan and I had my gastric sleeve back on November 14, 2014. I have had no complication to date and have lost a total of 120lbs to date!!! My goal weight is 135, so I have about 11 more pounds to lose! When I am at my goal weight for 6 months my insurance said they will pay for me to have the excess slin roved!! I can not wait for that to happen!!! I started my journey last Feb at a whopping 275 lbs at 5'4", I was totally round! It hard getting use to my new body!! The only problem I am having is losing my hair, even though I am talking 10,000 micrograms of Biotin everyday along with my vitamins!!! I use to have . Beautiful thick hair that people would die for, now I look like I'm going thru chemo!!! Anyway, if anyone needs to talk Im a good listener, just message me!!!

    eat in one sitting

Rollo, I've been banded more than 18 months and have not had any fills. Sometimes the feeling of satiety does not always kick in right away so I eat Weight Watcher type portions. Typically, 3 oz. Protein, 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of carbs. You can see from my ticker that it's worked very well for me.

    Progress has stopped

Hi everyone, Just wondering how everyone's journey is going. I was banded October 2016 and have lost 50 pounds in the first 8 months but since June I have gained 5 pounds and can't seem to get back on track. I went for a fill 2 weeks ago, and comparing what and how much I'm eating to others with the band, I still feel I can eat too much. I have gone for so many fills and my band is running out of room. Not sure what I should do from here on out. I have slacked on the exercising but can't seem to find the motivation. My goal would be to lose another 25 pounds to hit my target of 150lbs. Anyway u hope everyone else is seeing the progress and change they've hoped for. Have a great week. Also here's a before and after picture because I'm still proud of what I've accomplished so far

So, I am feeling the weight loss everywhere except my arms. I look at other people who weight about the same as me and their arms are soooo much smaller. When will they start shrinking?
