    Hubby gone

Well, I have been dreading this day for a year, but it has arrived. My husband, John deployed yesterday to Iraq for a year (at least). It was harder than I thought it would be. He was devastated to have to leave our daughter, Lily (20 months). And me of course- but it's harder to leave the kids, especially when they're so young. :sad0: I'm so happy that I have such a strong marriage, and we can be seperated like this, and not worry about what the other is up to ( I know alot of military couples don't have that). But, it makes me miss him more. After I got home last night from dropping him off, all I wanted to do was gorge myself. Nothing sounded so good as to curl up on the couch with a crappy lifetime movie, some crappy, fatty food and a coke. But I didn't. Instead I wrote him an e-mail, and sipped my Water. So, I guess my first NSV? Anyway, I'm doing better today, but still missing him something awful. :thumbup1: Thanks for listening. -Ruby

    NSV shout outs

My latest NSV has to do with my ball room dance classes. I made a friend at class and she said I needed skirts and dresses to wear to the dances so guys will ask me to dance. We made a killing at Goodwill. I bought a bunch of really pretty clothes for about $20. Then I went to a dance that evening and just had a blast dancing. There is no way I could have done this 95 lbs ago. Feeling confident enough to go to one of the dances and having guys ask me to dance was a great NSV!

The ladies will probably understand this one a little more than the guys. This is one NSV I have been waiting for the last ummmm decade or so ! ! ! This will probably cause a mental picture, but it's not gross or anything. I just wish someone could of been here to witness my reaction. Today, getting ready to head to the gym. I pulled on my new yoga type work out pants, and a tee. I was standing (with my legs together), pulling my hair back, and I noticed that I could see a tiny little triangle of light between the space between my thighs and crotch. I was so elated, it was a definite triangle of light gleeming through my legs. I kept bending over to make sure I wasn't seeing things, got on a footstool to see if it changed, I even turned around to see if I could see the light from behind. That wasn't as successful, but it was great that I saw that little light.

    11/17/09 Doing A 180

That's AWESOME! On all fronts! I don't believe you are 50, or 49 7/8 for that matter, either. I think your avatar looks incredibly young and glamorous and did not believe your build up to 50 for even a minute. Must be a rouse, I thought - you must have just turned 40...and you wanted support as you regressed through the decade. Yay for 180 and NSV's!!!

    11/17/09 Doing A 180

What a difference a day makes! See that grin on my face?!! I woke up to a loss this morning...180 lbs. for the first time in a long time! Yeah baby...I'm headed back to the 70's (let's hope soon!)! I had a follow up with the Urology Specialist today downtown at Magee Hospital (the one who put me on Vesicare...working great still BTW!). I first saw a nurse who I'd not met before. After 'suiting up' and leaving my sample, the doc finally came in. She started with 'I saw you walk by my office and didn't even recognize you!! I had to ask the girls if I had a new patient today they forgot to tell me about!!' Then she went on and on about how great I looked and asked me all kinds of questions. The best part was when she must have looked up my age. She explained to me that they just had a group of medical school students in yesterday and in medical school they teach the students to describe the patient's (I think she called it) apparent age...do they look older, younger or about their actual age. She went on and on about how much younger I look than my actual age (just the thing that someone who just went through the trauma of turning 50 needs to hear). OK, I'm gloating here and she was probably laying it on thick as she complimented me at least a dozen times...I was embarressed actually, but it made my day, make that my week. I can count the number of NSV's I've gotten from people outside my family on one hand (sad, but I expected that as people generally see you lose slowly and I've lost weight before), so I'm allowed to revel in this a moment. OK, gloating over...but I've still got that stupid grin on my face! I had a little bit of a down day yesterday, but today turned me around...I'm Doing A 180!!!

    It zipped...NSV

Oh Tiff-you are so way past a 16. I bet you'll be shocked with how small you go with your new clothes...I can't wait to hear all about your NSV's after tomorrow's trip. You are doing such a great job and will be at goal in no time and then have to buy even smaller clothes. Itstime-I have never been in a 10 in my whole life. By the time I left the girl's husky clothes, I remember going right to a woman's 14. There might have been sizes between there, but I was in upper elementary/middle school and honestly don't remember this size. I know I was a 16 by my freshman year in HS, got to a 12/14 my sophomore year and then back to 16 and so on. I also know this must be a 10 that runs super large, but hey, I'll take it.
  13. Tonight I decided to kick off my weekend with a good closet clean out (it's such an exciting life I lead :-). My closet has shrunk so much since I started losing weight, all my clothes actually fit into one closet. I decided I would try on everything in there and came to a size 10 dress I ordered on clearance last month. IT ZIPPED all the way up!!!! I couldn't believe it. I am ecstatic! SIZE 10. Full disclosure: it is tight and my bulges show, but it feels comfortable. Also, the size 10 shirt I ordered is still too tight to wear, but I know I'll get there some day. I posted a picture in my album, but I'll have my husband take some full body shots later this weekend once I'm in all my under armor gear.

Day 1 of Trying to Prepare!

Jazzercise is the only exercise I have been able to stick with as an adult for longer than six weeks! I love it because it is always different and it is both cardio and toning. Plus, my group has killer instructors and I have made some very good friends from my class. My best friend is training to become an instructor. She is going to start around March 2010, so I'm hoping that I will be going strong so I can help support her. That will be one of my NSVs!!

    NSV shout outs

I have enjoyed reading ALL of these posts on this thread. I haven't had surgery yet, so I am looking forward to having alot of these NSV moments. I found out Wednesday that I am now approved for the SLEEVE surgery and the date is Dec. 2, so it will be soon. I did have a so called Pre-VSG NSV moment recently. I was up to 266 pounds in July and I have been slowly losing some weight, and the last time I weighed at the doctor's office I was at 239 1/2 pounds. I have not bought any new clothes, but I have been able to get into pants that use to fit until I gained all that weight. I have only kept my size 22 pants, I got rid of all my size 24 jeans because I decided I was only going to go down. Well some of my size 22 jeans were too tight because I gained weight in July. I did not want to go out to buy more pants. In August I finally got my butt in gear and started going down. I have lost only about 26+ pounds in 4 1/2 months, but today I wore a pair of jeans that were really baggy on me. The best moment I recently had was just two days ago, I was reclining all the way back in the recliner, laying flat and I told my family, "Look, I can lay flat and now I don't look like I am 9 months pregnant!!". Before when I would lay on my back my belly was big and round and sticking way up in the air. After I said that, I realized that I am losing even though I don't notice it much on the scales. I hope I will have some more moments to tell you about after Dec.2 surgery!!.

My NSV for yesterday was I was getting ready for my first day back to work after Vacation- and decided to try on a pair of pants I bought for 8 bucks 2 months ago........ Size 14 and they fit! COMFORTABLEY!! I almost forgot about them... some pants as you know fit diferently- 'cause I been in a 14 in other pants. Then, being at work after being off, people saying how "skinny" I'm getting.... it still blows me away- 200 pounds + and SKINNY??? But still nice to hear:001_tt2:

My NSV is getting off of my blood pressure medicine and giving clothes away as I change sizes. Before when I dieted (I've lost 120 pounds and 90 pounds - gained it back each time) I saved the clothes knowing I'd probably need them again. Yesterday - they were donated to the Humane Society Thrift Shop. YaHoo.

I found another fun NSV thing to do: go back and try on jewelry (rings) you haven't been able to wear in years and now they fit. It takes you back to where you were when you got the ring or jewelry and that's usually a fun time to reminisce.:crying:

    First NSV!

Aren't they great? I also have my first NSV. Last night I met a woman and I ended up telling her I had had weight loss surgery 6 weeks ago, and she said, with a look of shock on her face, "You don't even look like you need to lose weight!" I did have my coat on - but still that made me feel so good!

    First NSV!

And as they say in those insipid infomercials...but, wait, there's more! This is just the beginning. And keep on the outlook for those NSVs...they are more precious to me than the actual weight loss can be.

    First NSV!

So, last night we were invited to go over to my sis-in-law's house to have BBQ and drinks and hang out. Well, since I am only one week out from surgery I did not think that the 8lbs that I have lost are that noticeable. So, I just put on some jogging pants and blouse that I would always wear. THE FIRST thing my sis-in-law said was that she could see I was losing weight! Mind you, they do not know about my operation. I was so happy on the outside and jumping for joy on the inside! It was my first family gathering since the surgery. It did not bother me that everyone was eating and drinking around me. I took my little can of Soup and drank it there with them at the dinner table. And drank two bottles of Water while I was there. BTW, they still don't know - I also have a cold so they figured I was not in the mood to eat nor drink and completely understood. It was great! ReadytoMaintain

3 weeks and 3 days post op STALL?

Can you kick up the exercize a bit? Since I have been going to the gym riding the bike, wow it is sure coming off fast. are you still losing inches? you need a nsv. Non scale victory. Think about it, have you had anything happen that was kinda cool? Pants big? Have to use a pin in your blouse to keep it on your sholders? Watched someone eat and not had any hunger for that item?
