Syntrax Nectar Protein
adrinanna replied to 2bsleeved26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another good thing to do with these is mix them with cottage cheese or yogurt....it helps to keep the carbs and protein in balance and makes them less boring -
I buy Fage plain yogurt and flavor it with any of the syrups. Then I'll stick them in the freezer until they are just about solid. Stir it up as best as I can, boom! Froyo!

I was sleeved December 1st. My highest weight was 267 last June. I was 255 pre-op and I weighed 195 this morning. I'm hovering anywhere from 900-1200 which my surgeon and nutritionist both think is great. I only track my calories on the days I plan on having a drink or two or if I've eaten things that might be high in calories. It's near impossible for me to overeat so I just focus on my Protein and keep my sugar and carbs low. Breakfast: An egg with a piece of turkey sausage Snack: A cheese stick, or a piece of rolled up lunch meat with a slice of cheese Lunch: Something like meatballs, fajita veggies with chicken, chicken salad with low fat mayo, etc Snack: A Greek yogurt or a cheese stick Dinner: Tonight it's Salisbury steak made with ground turkey and cauliflower mash I refuse to stick to the "just chicken and veggies" thing. I had this surgery to give me my life back, not feel limited in choices every day. I get a lot of low carb recipes from Pinterest and see if I can lighten them up any further. Like most people, I wish I was progressing faster but I can't complain at all about a 72 lb loss! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

mainly for changing up the flavor of your protein shakes. but I've also seen some people mix a little into plain greek yogurt to give it some flavor (haven't tried it yet, but plan to). amazon has tons of flavors but I found them cheapest (and good price on shipping too) on a restaurant supply site called webstaurant.com . While the site is intended for restaurant supply they will ship to a residential address.

I was sleeved on 12/29. The day of surgery I was 226. Today I am 179.7. For the most part I am happy with my weight loss. It has been a little slow the last month or so. My doctor keeps telling me to not sorry about calories so much and just meet my Protein and Water goals. The NUT through my surgeon is not the greatest so she hasn't been that helpful. I have done a lot of online research and been following calorie goals that I found. For another month I am staying under 800 calories. Most days I do about 700 calories but I have been getting a lot of help online saying my slow weight loss is because I need more calories or less gym time. I work out 5 - 7 days. Every other gym day I do weights and hour on treadmill, the others I just do hour on treadmill. Now that the weather is getting better I have taken up hiking so I have been skipping treadmill days for 4 mile walk outside. In the last week or so I have been upping my calories to account for the exercise but myfitnesspal still tells me I am not eating enough to lose weight. It can be very frustrating. In a few weeks I am supposed to up my calories to 1000 a day. I just found out my insurance allows us unlimited NUT visits as long as it is in network so I plan on looking for a new NUT that can help me get my weight loss back on schedule. As for what I typically eat every day, shake made with fat free Fairlife milk. lunch - 3oz of chicken, tuna or turkey lunchmeat. Snack - laughing cow cheese with 3 -4 triscuits. dinner - 3oz salmon/flounder/shrimp or chicken/pork. Sometimes do turkey meatballs. Dinner I usually add in a couple oz. of green beans/asparagus/carrots/brussle sprouts. A couple times a week if I still have room after the meat and veggies I will have a tablespoon of mashed potatoes or a few roasted potatoes or sweet potatoes. If I am going right to the gym from work I will do a Protein Bar or greek yogurt before I leave work. If I go to the gym later I will do that after my workout if it isn't too late. I always like to get some protein in after weight training though. My diet is pretty much the same thing all the time. made with fat free Fairlife milk. Any soft food ideas?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soft foods for me were things like: tuna, soft fish, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, refried beans, chili, canned chicken, etc. -
some of my favorites during the pureed stage: -pureed turkey or chicken chili from Trader Joe's -cottage cheese/greek yogurt and canned pumpkin with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice -cottage cheese and refried black Beans with a little bit of cheddar or mozz cheese thrown in I pureed a lot of cottage cheese, canned white meat chicken (it's much softer than cooked chicken breast), beans, and mozz/cheddar cheese, just in different combinations. Hope this helps!

I feel ya, i would feel good and all the sudden in the middle of the day i would be in a lot of pain. My incisions are getting better they still kind of itch, but i guess they are healing. Last night though I almost fainted, i found my self in a cold sweat thinking i am going to throw up, but i laid down drank a sip of Powerade and it made it better. Im sick and tired of this liquid diet, i haven't had too many Protein shakes... I usually do greek yogurt or chocolate pudding. Got myself some panera Soup 1/4 cup is not too much in calories. Im not hungry, sometimes i have to make myself eat. I think I'm down 15 lb today is my 1 week post op, i have my dr. Apt tomorrow, but i can tell in my clothes that i have lost some weight. Hang in there it's worth it! There was a time in the beginning when u wanted this for many different reasons keep thinking of that time. It gets better! Dasha

Shell ???? replied to Lucilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Betty54 At first it hurt to eat purée for me too make sure you are going slow wait between spoons and maybe try less at a time I found yogurt hurt less and has good Protein I'm on soft foods next stage past purée for me and I tried some roast lamb tonight with gravy that hurt going down I think as you ease into each stage there may be some discomfort and I've read others say go back to your last stage for a few days then try again. There's always sugars in yogurt because of the lactose. Even plain. Try Oikos Triple zero. No added sugar, no fat & yummy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well I have did try the egg.and forget it, it made me miserable I threw it all up, I've also tried shredded chicken and that's OK but a littke to dry, yogurts don't taste the same as before the only thing I do like is cottage cheese and I've been making myself fresh fruit smoothies with like papaya pineapple pears strawberries and blueberries and almond milk unsweetened and lots of Water Ive tries different Protein shakes and they do no go down they get stuck what I also eat smoothly is the maruchan noodles with my own seasoning and I add squash potatoes and carrots that's about it I can't eat anything else. So June! Awesome! That gives you time to get everything together, last minute stuff, etc. I personally nested. Will this be a revision or a first sleeve? Any goals or expectations? I'm hear to chat with whenever as long as you are willing to bear with some silly questions at times and a general good sense of humor. I don't like all the NO!!!!! NEVER!!!! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING????DIDNT YOU THINK AT ALL?!?!? YOU CANT BE SERIOUS ENOUGH ABOUT THIS!!!! And so forth. The later it gets the more heated it gets... I think it's because people are trapped in a computer room with low blood sugar. Everyone needs to stretch, maybe eat a yogurt? Good thoughts good good thoughts. Be well jenetts!!!! Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Babbs replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Hey Man Losing weight is such a SMALL part of WLS. It's actually the EASY part. We get very short sighted as newly sleeved or bypassed patients. It's all about the scale, how fast we are losing, stressing about stalls or small fluctuations in out weight. But the main thing we should be focusing on is how we can change our eating habits enough to keep the weight we lost off and live a healthy, happy life. At almost 2 years out, I can eat SO MUCH MORE than I could even a year out. I find myself over eating frequently, and have to actually force myself to weigh and measure most of the time to prevent it. I feel almost like I didn't have surgery at times. ESPECIALLY when it comes to snacking. I have to be very mindful. This is the reason I am choosing to eat edamame instead of chips for a snack, or eat a chocolate Greek yogurt as opposed to a cookie or two or three (because that's what it will end up being) I couldn't utilize moderation before surgery, so what makes me think it will work for me now that I feel like I can eat almost normal amounts of food? It won't. If I did a cookie here and a few chips there, I guarantee it won't stop there because I don't have my precious restriction and lack of hunger to count on anymore. That leads to weight gain. Ask anyone who has gained weight back, they will be the first ones to admit it. Like I said, it's not the amount of food that makes us successful, it's ultimately what we choose to eat that does when the honeymoon is over. -
@@Elode, Great topic! Good luck as you work on prepping your meals. I am pretty lazy and a creature of habit when it comes to meals. A lot of my meals are pretty much readymade. For Breakfast, I might open some yogurt and throw in some blueberries, or cook some oatmeal. lunch could be a salad or sandwich. dinner usually involves a slab of Protein, such as chicken or fish, some veggies, and often a starch. I’m not much of a cook and try to keep it so that I don’t need to prepare much ahead of time. What I do try really hard to do is make sure I plan ahead so that the foods I need are in the house and they’re ready for me to use.

Food prep for returning to work
NewAngela replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The light Greek yogurts have 12. String cheese maybe. 2 oz of actual meat has close to 15 grams of Protein. shakes are the easiest though, although I really like the light and fit Greek yogurt flavors. I tend to add a little Splenda to sweeten. I love refried Beans, although fat doesn't matter. My nutritionist stresses that some fat is necessary and not bad, and they only have a gram or two anyways. Part skim ricotta or cottage cheese is another option. I love kefir. High protein and quality Probiotics, although plain is better. The flavored tend to be high carb. I find the plain relatively sweet, but I blend in berries or Splenda sometimes. Fairlife milk is another thing to try. I think they have 12 grams a cup or so. I also do cold cuts with hummus or guacamole. Add a little light sour cream to things to boost protein. Although I haven't tried them, they sell protein powders that blend in Soups. unjury I think. Meat is the most efficient protein source, although tofu would work too. Hmmm. I want to try making some pizza Snacks with tofu crust. I can tolerate crackers but it adds a lot of carbs. Salmon is a good option. Salmon burgers, veggie burgers with cheese. I do locks with some whipped cream cheese too. Yum. Meat is harder to eat. I am only beginning to tolerate it. Oh, my nutritionist suggested high protein noodles made from edame or soy. I am going to try it a some point, but they are more advanced although they shouldn't cause the same issues that white flour noodles cause. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@@2babutterfly - NO guilt, friend. Life gets tough and things happen. Make your plan and take it a day at a time. Once the plan is made and the pantry is stocked, no excuses. I usually eat a sweet each day too. For me, it works. I eat a quest bar or use your idea and have Greek yogurt with a little homemade granola. I tell you, a high fiber-low carb flat bread, tortilla, or pita with a little pb and sliced bananas can also do wonders for my attitude! I've read about, and bought, some Oh Yeah! One bars. I've heard that the birthday cake bar is fabulous. I'm gonna work them in on my plan this week. I'll let you know. Over halfway through the weekend, on plan and keeping my word. (See previous post if curious.) I'm off to make my plan and grocery list for the week. Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. Look forward to hearing from you all.

What is your favorite pureed food?
IveGotThePower replied to IveGotThePower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for your replies. That does give me some ideas. I am so over the Protein shakes, sf popcycles, yogurt smoothies and Jello. I need some "real" food. The chicken tenders sounds like a creative solution. Kudos for the creativeness and the work you put into it CHMD. Sounds like a versatile recipe that you can modify, by adding cheese, sour cream, a little bbq sauce, etc. Definately getting refried Beans today and going to look up Shelly's Ricotta Bake also. I appreciate the feedback. May the force be with you all! -

Did you eat on the 2week liquid diet?
Lori222 replied to beylove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I did the 2 weeks of liquid pre surgery. I was instructed to buy unflavored Protein and make Jello and pudding adding 2 scoops of unflavored protein to it. Also cream of wheat. I added a Splenda pkt and cinnamon. Also Dannon light and fit yogurt. Unsweetened applesauce. I also used unflavored protein mixed with Crystal light. And of course choc. Protein shakes. I was told the purpose was to help shrink your liver for surgery. Apparently it gets in the way reaching the stomach for surgery. Hope this helps. Lori -
I'm returning to work soon, just had post op w/NUT and she wants me to aim for at least 15 grams of protein 5x a day. I work 10 hours a day so 4 of those times will be at work. Any ideas on "easy quick" things I can bring in addition to yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, etc?

dizziness after bending over or medium exertion
Daisee68 replied to cjfd2006's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh and I just remembered my NUT telling me it was likely the lack of carbs causing it. Do you have some room in your plan to add in some more good carbs (like in Greek yogurt or something)? -
What about Laughing Cow cheese wedges? They have a little Protein and are super creamy. That might work. Or sugar free pudding Snacks or yogurt with 1/2 scoop of Protein powder mixed in?
