Here is the recipe for Ricotta Bake (may be the same one you have above - I cannot see it). Also some other good ideas. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html I ate a lot of fat free refried Beans with cheese melted on top; hummus (yes just with a spoon); Pimento Cheese spread; Laughing Cow cheese wedges; sugar free pudding with 1/2 scoop Protein Powder mixed in; Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt (Key Lime and strawberry Cheesecake are my favorites) with 1/2 scoop Protein powder mixed in....

@@Sherry, if it is the unflavored unjury (my favorite) you can mix with pretty much anything. Watch adding to hot liquids as it will clump Ex: coffee. Mix with a little warm Water then add to hotter liquid. chicken broth, tea, egg drop Soup, crystal light etc. I also do not like the taste of the Isopure, unflavored, that I have, so I am adding a 1/2 scoop of it to my LightNFit Greek yogurt to bump up the Protein (and hide the taste!).

"Snacking" on pre op diet
Lizardlady replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I imagine it's going to be the same for me. The last time I was on a diet like this the first few days were the worst and I felt like I was starving but after that I kicked the carb craving because it was pretty easy from there. I am allowed greek yogurt and all the same stuff you are as well. My book says I'm allowed 97-98% fat free, low sodium: Healthy Valley, Amy's, Campbell's Healthy request, and Progresso but the problem is that most of those Soups have starch in them (which on day 10 I was supposed to eliminate starch) OR they are FULL of carbs (like the Campbell's Healthy Request Tomato soup I had last night) and I'm supposed to stay under 40g of carbs per day. So what exactly does that leave me with? I guess greek yogurt, jello, pudding, popsicles and protein drinks? Which is fine but they really should say something about those soups cuz I went and bought a bunch assuming I could have them and then I find out really, most are not doable at all or just 1 bowl will fill your carb intake for the entire day lol. I'll be ok but it's a lot to try and keep track of and I'm already irritated when I feel like I'm so hungry I could eat a horse. -
In that phase, I pretty much only had my premier Protein shake, Water, hot tea, sugar free popsicles and Soups. I had oatmeal, cream of wheat, s.f. puddings, mashed potatoes and gravy, yogurt smoothies with added protein powder. I really didn't want to eat and even today, I mostly just want soups. So, I make sure they are loaded with protein! Check out Bariatric Eating.com great ideas.

Poached egg week 1 post opp?
Brenda Sherwood replied to PissiChrissi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Programs are quite different. Im supposed to do a week of clear liquid, then 2 weeks clear plus milk, pudding, yogurt. Then 2 to 4 weeks pureed only... so that puts me at like 2 months out Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Baby food is disgusting. No need for it. Purée your own yummo food and/or eat soft food like yogurt and cottage cheese. Best first veggies to purée with some chicken broth is yellow squash or zucchini (don't forget a little salt and pepper). Yum yum.

Can you count the water in the protein shakes towards the water goal?
heidikat72 replied to bigmamaAfrica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT's recommendation is at least 64oz of liquid a day. Of which, she wants half to be water. The rest can come from skim milk, soy milk, light low fat yogurt, broth, sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello.Since there have been so many different responses, you should probably check with your nutritionist/surgeon's office for your plan's recommendations. -
Hi guys, I just had surgery on the 20th. I'm down 20th pounds in these 6 days. I'm REALLY struggling with getting fluids/protein/vitamins in. The chewable stuff they gave me... make want to gag from the chalky texture. I haven't been getting them down. I burp tree flavor all day once I take them. Today, im.jist really weak feeling. Last night my shower was a chore. My heart rate increases from it, to keep my hands up to wash my hair was very difficult. Today, very time I get up and around to do anything... including my walking, my pulse goes up to or over 100, from the normal I'm the 60s. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am considering using a spoon of Greek yogurt to crush my Vitamins in to swallow. I'm scared. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

April 6 surgeries
bananabellyaches replied to Lucilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved April 4th & today is the first day I could have soft food. This morning tried 2 bites of cottage cheese & one bite of yogurt. Stomach made a lot of noises - but feel ok. First 2 weeks was Clear Liquids, 3rd week was liquids that run easily thru a strainer. I made homemade black bean Soup & put it thru the blender. Hands down best thing I've tried besides Campbell's soup on the go (not allowed tomato soup). Also, tried a frozen Greek yogurt bar last night & had no problems. Planning on trying a few bites of egg for lunch. Premier Protein chocolate shakes are the only ones I'm interested in now. Liked the strawberry & vanilla first 2 weeks, but now I'm sick of them. All other Protein Shakes just turn me off now. Shakes I used to drink regularly before surgery now are hard to get down. I do drink a whey "Nectar" drink in tropical flavor with my powdered bariatric Vitamins in it & it's ok for 24g of protein. I add spoonful of Isopure non- flavored protein to my soup & coffee (mix it w/bit Water first). G2 & Powerade zero taste delicious to me right now. So I drink quite a few ice cold drinks & my Fluid intake is very good. MyraLax is a must for me every day too. Painful spot next to my belly button that burns with a sharp pain! Drives me nuts cause I'm wanting to physically do so many things. Doc's office said its where they put extra stitch to prevent hernias. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Glad to hear it! I expected they'd tell you you were doing fine. For what it's worth, I don't count calories but I'm sure they're pretty high. I eat lots of meat, yogurt, guacamole, nuts, Jerky, and cheese. And veggies when I have room. My fat calories must be off the charts, but my weight has remained steady within a 3-4 pound range for a year now. No starches or sugar is my mantra. Good luck in maintenance, just keep on keeping on...

I'm stopped forcing protein drinks down. I tried protein water, works better for me. As far a food is concerned I try to eat my protein slowly. I stick to the basics, yogurt, apple sauce, green veggies. I still don't feel like eating most days. I recently found these protein lunchables that have turkey, cheese, and almonds. I eat those a lot, very satisfying and perfect portion.[emoji6]

That's awesome about your race, what an inspiration!! I saw the nut this afternoon. She told me that I shouldn't do anything too drastic because it's common for people to lose and then gain 10 pounds or so before they are settled in without making and significant changes in diet. She did recommend that I increase my calories to 2000-2400 mostly by adding fats to my diet (higher fat yogurt, oils, nut butters, olives, avocado, etc) and monitor for a couple months. If I'm still losing then we'll probably do some blood work to check for thyroid issues and go from there.

For what it's worth, I found that the portion size they show on the bottle is way too much, but as long as I use lower amount (sometimes 1/2 tbsp. sometimes 1 tbsp.), then it works pretty well. I use them in shakes but I like the idea above of using it in yogurt. May try that...

You're only 1 week out. Yogurt, soft-cooked scrambled eggs, perhaps a *small portion* of well cooked spinach/ricotta ravioli... I know the routine can be monotonous, but be patient. -
@@future Mrs - First, let me be clear. I am not at all saying these are necessarily the healthiest things to be eating, but honestly they aren't too bad. It will cure your wing craving though.... Oh and just eat the dip with a fork. Tiny bites at first. I had a tough time with shredded chicken early on. Buffalo Chicken salad (apologies to the person who posted this originally - I didn't write down the name so I cannot give credit where credit is due!) Shredded chicken breast, about 9 oz. (I usually poach my own, but I've also used canned or rotisserie chicken) 2 oz. crumbled blue cheese 5.3 oz container plain Greek yogurt chopped celery/onion garlic powder/dried dill/S&P to taste Frank's Red Hot until it's at your preferred spice level (as @@Valentina said - take it easy on this until you know if you will tolerate spicy) Buffalo Chicken Hot Dip - not sure where I got this one - probably here also - I have taken this one to parties and it was a hit. No one even knew it had lower fat options in it. • 2 cups Chicken Breast, chopped • 1/2 cup Reduced Fat Blue Cheese Crumbles, crumbled • 6 oz 0% Yogurt • 8 oz Cream Cheese 1/3 Less Fat • 1 tbsp The Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Seasoning Powdered Mix • 1/2 cup Low-moisture Part-skim Sliced Mozzarella Cheese, shredded • 1/2 cup Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce Oh also - not buffalo flavored but if you like lasagna, check out the Ricotta Bake from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. It is to die for! Basically lasagna without noodles! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html

Not ready to embrace another stall!
katesuccess replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry not to answer you sooner @Sajijoma - I've been swamped with work lately, and a family event too. So today I knew I had a lunch meeting, so I previewed the menu and called to ask how much meat was on the steak salad (3oz) so I started logging with that, and then added foods to get to my targets. - Breakfast I had 1/3 of an ounce of "Just Strawberries" (crunchy dried ones with no junk added, and 1/3 ounce is quite a bit really) and a "peppermint mocha" version of my Protein drink; 1 scoop Isopure low carb chocolate flavor made hot with a cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and two shots of espresso and peppermint extract . - Morning snack was 4 ounces lean Board's Head sliced deli chicken and 3/4 of an ounce of home-roasted cashews I make (less fat/salt/sugar) and half an ounce of aged Gouda. - Lunch at the restaurant was lettuce, a few grape tomatoes, a few toasted pecans and the rare steak - and light on the dressing! - Afternoon snack is 3 ounces non-fat Fage yogurt mixed with another scoop of isopure Protein powder (Combat is good too!), 1/3 ounce dried Just Peaches, and a Mediterranean chicken breast skewer from costco. Also 2 tablespoons cream in my iced coffee with some stevia - yum! - dinner will be 4 ounces scrambled egg-whites , one slice of bacon, 3 more ounces of nonfat Fage yogurt topped with a bit of SF Torani vanilla syrup and 2 ounces of frozen blueberries. - My evening snack (which I finally realized helps me avoid late night foraging!) is half a chocolate chunk Quest bar with half a tablespoon of Justin's Peanut Butter on it. This is fairly typical, though I don't usually have that much fruit. a couple times a week I get my carbs from mug cakes or other things like Halo Top ice cream, maybe skim milk in a small Cappuccino, or Combat protein powder has 5 carbs to a scoop, but 25 grams of protein! My Isopure I get at the Vitamin Shoppe has no carbs or fat, but also 25 grams of protein. It's a LOT of food, and not right for everyone, but after a terminally long stall I finally accepted that it could be my body was needing me to eat more and be really stable in my intakes so it could stabilize enough to begin losing again. I lift weights at the gym four days a week (two upper body days, two lower body) for about 25 minutes including stretching, and do some form of cardio on three of those days for about 20 minutes -- HIIT on the treadmill usually or by swimming laps the same way. Some days I use the torture machine (i.e. stairclimber!) but only rarely. I've consistently lost 2 pounds per week, this week 2.5 (yay!) and I can finally say I'm never hungry or deprived feeling. I have bread or a treat if I want to factor it in, and if it's REALLY good, but decided there's no point in eating mediocre stuff. Hope this is helpful. I aim for 60 ounces of Water each day too. Kate Wow - sorry for such a long answer just now! -
