I just wanted to share a female NSV I had today. When I was young and thin I always knew when I was ovulating. I would get a little cramp in my abdomen and get a couple light pink spots. I also felt bloated for a few hours. If I counted I would see I was at my ovulation date. That all stopped when I got heavy. I still had my period but never felt ovulation. I am assuming I was though. I felt it today! I used an online calculator and sure enough today is my ovulation date. Not trying to get preg but it is still kind of cool to feel your body working right again!

Questions to ask Surgeon
thinoneday replied to Bonnielass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bonnielass, I did just what Tiff explained and my surgeon was really pleased to know that I was actually asking those questions. . .he was right in there like a dirty shirt! He was honest about it, especially when I asked how successful he has been as a surgeon with the sleeve procedure. . . he said, "it's a fairly new procedure, I have done more bands, and only about 200 sleeves, but I have never had a leak" So that was comforting, he also told me that I would be in hospital overnight for sure, get a leak test done, and if there was one he would do an oversew to correct it. . . he told me I didn't need a preop diet cause my BMI wasn't high enough! Talk about a NSV!!! I told him i would rather do a pre-op diet however, he must of thought I was nuts, but he said, sure that will make my job alot easier! he was so pleasant and courteous. I had a good feeling with him too. . . so I trust him. . even though I know that I'm just another dollar sign walking around! hehehehe -
I did my first 5K today!! I ran walked the entire thing and didn't die!! I am 327lbs and if I can do it anyone can!! Next one in Jan...now working on improving my time!! Had to brag...I am so excited! YAY!!

Being able to shop in the "normal sizes" stores is a huge NSV - congrats! Even though buying new clothes in each size as we go down isn't practical, it costs nothing to go into stores and try things on just to see what actually DOES fit. It can be amazing to see our bodies that way. Hmmm, think this is good advice for myself, too!

mutti - those are awesome NSVs Stoongal and Cajun - congrats on no more BP medication too!

My NSV was when my son in law told me he thought I had lost enough weight. Little does he know I need to lose another 30 - 40 lbs. Also, my daughter told me my 14 jeans where to big.

Congratulations Holli! Often the NSV's mean more than the number on the scales! Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on both the weight loss and the loss in sizes. I know that when I get stuck and not lose weight for awhile I do realize that my clothes are a little looser. I have gone from 3X shirts to Medium shirts, form size 56 pants to 36 pants. The greatest NSV is that I am no longer diabetic and no longer have sleep apnea or pain in my back or my knees.

I've bought some smaller clothes since surgery because they were getting too big. Seemed like some things were just getting stretched out (from washing/wearing) rather than me just getting smaller. I can't wear practically any of my clothing now without it looking ridiculous. And this seems to have occurred just in the past couple weeks. People are noticing my weight loss and I keep hearing, "You're getting so skinny!" I went shopping about a week ago to Cato's, which has both plus-sized and average-sized clothing in the same styles. Well, I tried on a ton of different things in the plus-sized side and everything was TOO BIG. So I ventured over to the normal sized section and actually ended up buying a size LARGE shirt (not 1x, not 2x, but large). I thought it was a fluke. So last night I went to a store called Avenue, which is a plus-sized store. Tried on a bunch of stuff. Huge. When I exited the dressing room the woman asked if I had any luck. I told her that everything was too big and I wouldn't be able to shop in their store anymore! LOL!!!! So then I went to Macy's and tried on a ton of shirts, mostly size large. THEY ALL FIT!! I didn't buy anything, though, because I don't really have the money. So then I went to Kohl's because I needed some new black pants (mine are ridiculous right now). I ended up buying size 16 pants!! Now, they're a little tight right now, but I need them to be. So I've gone from a 3x/2x to a Large. And a 24 pants to a 16. The actual weight loss is coming along slow (to me), but I'm thrilled with the new sizes!

NSV- Everything is so much easier to do now. Couple flight of stairs, no problem. Tying my shoes without needing to sit down. Crossing my legs! College students are oblivious, usually, so they stand in the middle of hallways and stairwells... I don't feel like a fat cow squeezing between THIER inconsiderate hides now! Oh, and boys talk to me more, hehe.

That's even better than the going down sizes NSV's. Health improvements is what it is really all about.

Overweight instead of Obese
thinoneday replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you Tiffy! It's a long struggle, but I'm so glad there is help out there for us, that is a great BMI. . . the doctor thought my BMI of 41 was not enough to put me on a pre-op diet. . . . that was my first NSV! :001_tongue: -
Thanks Tiffy and Itstime! Tiff loved your NSV story! It was so cute!

Those are great NSV Carolyn and Tiffy! It feels so good when these wonderful things happen that would never have happened without the sleeve. I have a little one too. Last night at dance class, the teacher picked me to demonstrate one of the dances. It was kind of fast, and he said he picked me because I am so physically fit. I guess all that cardio at the gym is paying off. I was so irritated to have gall bladder surgery and not be able to exercise for awhile. I was going to go to the gym today but it's freezing cold in there in the morning and I have to work this afternoon. I am going to start back tomorrow for sure and go a little bit later so I don't freeze. I know it's not supposed to be warm in a gym, but I think 50 degrees is a little ridiculous. They have no heat in there and it's been down to freezing at night here.

Ha ha ha Carolyn, I love your NSV ! ! !

NSV shout outs
carolyn24seven replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Tiffy: that was a great NSV. I had posted but not in this place. So sorry if you all havealready read this but here goes. Friday after thanksgiving we were going togo to the show and meet friends after. I had to try on 8 different things to find one thing that was acceptable. Then on Saturday I was wearing just my regular jeans and top and I was working in the kitchen and walking back and forth to the dinning room (putting stuff away) any way hands full and all my pants started sliding down. Now, get a mental picture of this please, my hubby is up on a step ladder putting the bowls and large platters away for me and here I come with my arms full and there go my pants! I am trying to do the legs wide apart so they don't fall off, and so I am just waddling. histerical. just crazy fun. After the moments (several) had passed, my hubs said I was to go shopping and get some pants that are tight. Tight enough to last until the next stage. He is sure a believer now in the sleeve. So, walking out of your pants is fun. I laughed so hard and long my sides still hurt on Sunday. Sunday when I went and got 2 new pairs of pants. Hubby said good thing I was not wearing thoes jeans when we went out last night! duh! Glad you had a great time with your Hubs too. Thoes moments lead to such great celebratory fun. heehee turtles and blondes: you get us on our backs and we are both screwed. -
I had to return a skirt I had ordered today as it was miles too big!!! I couldn't believe it and was certain that I was still in a UK size 18. I didn't have the confidence to order a 16 as the size 18 jeans I wear every day don't seem that big on me. Anyway it has gone back and a 16 is now on order. I haven't lost any more weight lately but I definitely seem to be losing inches as a couple of people have commented on my weight-loss recently. It's really great to be able to wear lovely clothes again and not the tents that were 'comfy' xxxxxxxxxxxx

It's been a couple of weeks since anyone posted any new NSV's so I wanted to bump this thread, and see how everyone is doing. I have one, it isn't very exciting, but I thought I would share. While John and I were in WV, we attended a WV University football game in Morgantown, WV. It's been John's dream to attend a game up there, and I got box tickets for 50 bucks for the biggest rival game of the season. We decided to rent a hotel room, and stay the night up there. The college is 3 hours from his folks place. Anyways, we knew parking would be a nightmare. The hotel desk attendant told us it was only a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. We thought it would be a nice little walk, and give us a chance to see stuff around the area. Come to find out, it was a 4 mile trek up and down hills to get to the stadium. BUT, I walked it like a champ. It did only take us about 20 minutes, but I have short legs so I don't walk fast. I'll throw out there that it was also 29 degrees out, and my knees NEVER hurt, ached, or throbbed ( I would of never been able to make it pre-surgery). I told John we were going to get a taxi for the way back. But, at the end of the game, we sucked it up, and walked back. The temperature had dropped, and the wind was whipping around at about 15mph, but we managed. My hamstrings were a bit tight the next morning, but I don't if that was from the walk or the after the game celebatory lovin':001_tt2: I got at the hotel ! ! ! WVU won, and so did I.

Hey, all, it's time for more NSVs! Especially if you're feeling down after the holidays. Good time to remember the non-scale victories. I went to have a medical test done recently and the nurse gave me a regular size gown! I was so happy!! :frown: I always hated how the nurses would look me up and down, then go to the other shelf to get the big gowns. And then, even worse, if the big gowns didn't close... ooh. Also! I have very fat hands and big fingers (look at Rosie O'Donnell's hands, and those are mine), but I can now see the bones in my hands!!! For years, if I made a fist, my knuckles didn't stand out. Now I can see them again! Wheee! :frown: This is a very big thing for me, because I got teased about it when I was in grade school, and it always stuck with me. So... let's hear some of your good news!

Great story. Thanks for the reminder. I walked out of my pants two days ago! Hubby said I Had to go shopping and get some pants! I am laughing so hard at that statement. HE never wants me to go shopping. I think pants falling off by themselves is a great NSV. Not one I ever thought I would experience. Amazing journey!

77 lbs! Feels amazing, doesn't it. Congrats on your NSV! Daisy, do you like the dance classes? I've been wanting to try it.
