B-side from yesterday - I have both dogs and cats. Once upon a time, I thought I was a cat person but nowadays, I'm a dog person. Also, horses...always loved horses. I'm generally patient but do have my impatient moments. I'd have to say Star Wars over Star Trek. 24. 19 push-ups completed. I'm going out to dinner tonight with friends, so that's a treat. I suspect I'm going to stop at the local nursery this afternoon after my eye dr. appointment so if I shop, that will be my real treat! B-side - I haven't tried the new ice creams. I do have a love of Haagen Daaz and Ben & Jerry's - I don't remember the last time I had any ice cream - might even have been last Summer. I'm sure I'll have a cone at some point this Summer - how can I not? I live on Cape Cod and they are so good after a day at the beach.

Have you ever lost 31 lbs. in 6 weeks? That's quite a lot. Plus, remember it's a revision and revisions don't typically lose as fast as virgin DSers. Now a stat to make you happy, I lost 19 lbs. my first month with a virgin DS in 2005. I was thrilled as I'd never lost that much before in so short a time. :)

PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
catwoman7 replied to GastricGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 57 lbs prior to surgery between my six-month supervised diet and my two-week liquid diet. So on the morning of surgery, I weighed 316 lbs. After that, it took 18 (maybe 20?) months before I hit my lowest weight (138 lbs - I've gained 10 lbs since then - I need to update my profile!) -

I asked at my 9 month follow up today. Response: If you continue to work out and stay active you should not expect to gain weight, however some people might gain 5 or so pounds from their low weight even if they are active because their body just wants to settle there. I was told if I stop exercising regularly then yes I should expect to gain 10-20 pounds. I hope that helps. It isn’t a perfect science! -

April 2019 Surgeries!

@Alwzla8 ,, I was thinking the same thing about myself .. I had my sleeve done on 4-10-19 .. I went in at 261 .. I’m currently at 228 , i thought I would have lost more weight by now since the amount of food I’m able to consume is SO small and I’ve started going to the gym about 2 weeks ago .. I’ve read lots about it and turns out losing 30 lbs in 4 to 8 weeks is normal and the mistake I’ve been making is not having enough water .. just can’t stand drinking plain water ,, but it’s essential in helping the weight go down faster . Stay encouraged and continue on the plan and the weight will start to fall off .. I’m right there with you 👍🏼 -
Foodies - honestly how bad is it?

I wouldn't say I have everything down pat, more than anything I've been lucky! 🙂 I started at 243 lbs, I currently float between 125-130 lbs. My total loss is about 115 lbs. It took me 9.5 months to hit goal, and then continued to lose below my goal weight. Each Month Total loss Month 1 -17.6 -17.6 Month 2 -16.2 -33.8 Month 3 -14.2 -48 Month 4 -8.4 -56.4 Month 5 -12.6 -69 Month 6 -9.4 -78.4 Month 7 -12.2 -90.6 Month 8 2.8 -87.8 Month 9 -10 -97.8 Month 10 -6.4 -104.2 Month 11 -6.6 -110.8 Month 12 -1.4 -112.2 Month 13 -2.2 -114.4 Month 14 0 -114.4 Month 15 -0.6 -115 As you can see my losses were overall pretty predictable, larger losses at the beginning, then slowing down as I got closer to goal. I had one month with gains because I had a hard time getting back on track after vacation, combined with my hunger monster being awakened again. Good luck! -

how has surgery impacted your hunger?
CaribeRidge replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my surgery, gastric bypass, on 1/22/19. What I notice the most is head hunger. My mind wants food but my stomach says no. I find myself wanting to put a lot of food on my plate when it is something I really like and being disappointed that I can only eat a bit and not a lot like I used to. So I have to remind myself that I can no longer eat like that, nor do I want to, intellectually. Granted all this happens in a couple of seconds. "Mmm, I want more...no I can't have more... sadness... (pep-talk) this is the way it is now and how it should be" Then I hope my brain will eventually train itself to not be so greedy. For the most part, I eat because it is "time to eat" and not so much because I feel hunger. When I do it is typically a side effect of some of my meds which cause hunger or I missed the "time to eat" cause I was busy and eventually my stomach says "hey, remember me?" I think I am probably one of the luckier ones in this. It would be so much more difficult if I was dealing with stomach hunger as well as mind hunger. -
Honey, you look FABULOUS!! This is a mind game ~~ although I haven't had my sleeve yet (its scheduled for June 3, 2019) I already know I am not expecting "certain attributes" for my body, I just simply want to wear clothes better, feel healthy and more in shape, and just generally not let food rule my life... I know I will always have a big butt (it runs in my family), small breasts (which will become smaller), and I am not expecting to wear a bikini, or be the best looking girl in the room ~~ and that's OK with me! Learning to be proud of yourself and the way you look is not easy, but you will get there!

Hi, (sorry for my english)..6 years ago I had the sleeve , I lost 20 kgs. (I wasn't very overweight, but I wanted to be thin). I kept my weight for 3-4 years, until I had to stop making excersice ( I ran marathons, ironmans, play tennis, etc), because an injury on my neck. So the last year I regain half of the weight I lost at the begining of my sleeve. To make it short I went to the doctor, he said I didn't need to lose weight but if I really wanted he would make my stomach as small as the first time (it is called "la remanga"). "the sleeve again".. It was a total disaster, whatever I eat I vomit it, even the water I drank I couldn't keep it in my stomach. So the doctor had to make me an emergency bypass in January (6 days after "la remanga"). So I had 2 operations. I lost 10 kgs. I am very thin again, but it was really scary and its been difficult in many ways. Between the sleeve and the bypass, I would choose the sleeve by far (for many reasons). Hopefully my experience can help you in some way.

God I wish you would quit scaring people. You are SUCH AN OUTLIER, you're in a different universe. I've ignored and ignored your posts. But YOU are not the reality. Period. I'm sorry your life is so tragic. But you are not an expected outcome. You are one of the .01%. -

I also increased my calories recently. I was eating like 450-480 calories a day but am trying to be somewhere in the 600's. I walk 4 miles a day. I want to join the gym soon. Surgery date 4/8 HW: 303 or 304 SW: 262 ( 272 pre liver shrink) CW: 238.8

The reason I felt I HAD to do the Roux n Y full by pass was to heal my body of the effects of my acid reflux. From the first seminar at the hospital I had my surgery at( given by the surgeon who actually operated ) I learned that the full by pass gave me the best odds to lose the most weight AND heal the GERD that wrecked havoc on my insides for way too long.. I know many people who had great success with the sleeve but my surgeon was adamant it could increase my acid.. everyone must follow their own path.. since Feb. 4, 2019 , I’ve lost 52 lbs( 12 pre op from liver shrinking protocol diet) and NO ACID REFLUX .

Hi, I know its frustrating. ITS NOT EASY. Im about 3.5 weeks out and stalled 10 days ago at 16 pound lost since surgery. I keep seeing everywhere its normal and just to hang on and it will pick up again. One thing Im glad I did was my body measurements. The scale hasnt moved in 10 days but im still losing inches. Did you measure yourself? Try that now!
