Hey Guys... So, I started a new PT job several months ago as a Karaoke Host/DJ... the company that I work for hosts an annual DJ Olympics where we have games, prizes, food and lots of DRINKS!!!... So, I participated in ALL of the games, that included a Hot Potato Relay (assembling Mr. Potatohead while racing another team back and forth across the lawn), Dart Poker, Dance Off, and musical chai to name a few.... Well, I didn't when any of them.. HOWEVER, I ran around the yard, picked up little bitty nuts and bolts, ran around the chairs (I came in second, cause I was CHEATED!!! LOL) and walked, walked, WALKED!!! Guess what?? I wasn't overly tired, my back didn't hurt and I fit in ALL of the lawn chairs w/ ease!!! I wasn't touching the sides!! I stood for hours at a time and felt really good (save a sinus headache from hanging out w/ 10 smokers for 8 hours!)... I've been a little up and down lately because of the scale... I've decided to dedicate myself to following the rules for MY SLEEVE and to enjoy this process... No, I haven't fallen in love w/ working out yet, but I love the sense of accomplishment that I get when I complete my workouts... no, I don't ALWAYS eat on schedule or the best thing every time... BUT, I try not to make the same mistake twice... if I do.. I get over it quickly and try my best to find out why I did it, ate it or bought it!!! We can do this!!! You can and WILL achieve your goals.. just stay positive and work your sleeve!!! And if you aren't dropping tons of weight, but you are gaining tons of energy, confidence and physical freedom to enjoy life, consider it a VICTORY!!! The pounds and inches will come off!! Enjoy your journey!!! Tina

Any girl willing to send some tips for another women
Kindle replied to TheNewSamanthaSmiles17's topic in The Gals' Room
Follow your pre and post op diets to a T. They are designed for your health and safety. You will feel very empowered with confidence once you make it through without cheating. Don't weigh yourself everyday. In fact, twice/month for the first 3 months is plenty . It will save you the frustration of stalls. If you stick to the meal plan you WILL lose weight. Measure your success by NSV's, how your clothes fit, and how you feel. Stick with thrift stores until your weight stabilizes or you will be out a lot of $$$$. Eat until you are satisfied, not full. -
This morning, I got to the 5:30am (UGH!) Body Pump class at the gym a bit later than normal. The only remaining open spot was in the very front of the class, about two feet away from the instructor, so I had a good view of myself in the massive mirror throughout the workout. I realized then that I haven't spent any time gazing at my reflection this year, and I couldn't believe how amazing I look. [if I do say so myself... ] I seriously can hardly recognize my own body when it's staring back at me. Even more amazing... about 20 minutes into the class, the woman next to me leaned over and said "...Amy!? Is that really you?!" It was the nutritionist who got me through all six of my monthly pre-op appointments. She left the clinic shortly after I had surgery and I haven't seen her since. This woman had a huge impact on the success I've had to date, and I am so grateful for her help and support. Even more incredible is the fact that just 8 months after surgery, I can work out right next to her and keep up at every step of the way. Sometimes, I hardly recognize my own life.

You go Robin. I'm still with you and watching that ticker move on down. You hang in there and watch it happen. Great NSV.

I have been a little bummed out occasionally because my loss has been slower than others. I've also stood in front of the mirror and don't see any big difference, that's why I've never posted my pics, I'm afraid everyone will say I look the same. But this week I finally went out and bought some new clothes. I was wearing tight 3X and 30-32 before my surgery (I could squeeze into 28 pants if they were really stretchy). All of the new clothes I just bought for going on interviews are 22-24's!!!:clap2: :clap2: And they fit very comfortably. I guess maybe if I took a pic and compared it to my before I should be able to see some difference anyway. Atleast my clothes say so. And....today on an interview I was led up some stairs to go to the Manager's office rather than waiting for the elevator. I almost choked. But guess what? I made it and I wasn't even huffing and puffing. My knees were a little wobbly, but I made it up and then made it down again.

Whats wrong with me!

Our brains play games with us. And it always will. We see ourselves one way and yet we are another. When an anorexic patient sees themselves, what do they see..fat...It is a matter of perception. It will take time for you to see the new you and as you start seeing NSV you will start to see yourself differently. But trust me you will still have issues with how you see yourself. Being heavy for a long time makes us see ourselves as large for quite a while. It is part of the retraining of our brains. Learning how to eat better, exercise, take care of ourselves more and resolve what got us to the point where we needed this help. I am 16 months out and still see myself as a very large woman. my daughter tells me all the time that I am not and that I see things with a fat head. I am working hard to overcome this issue.... Keep talking it out with your family and ask what they think. I know I have to because I always feel heavy! they are a great stabilizer for me. -
Today marks 3 months with Miss Pearlie and I have to say that I'm so glad to have her in my life. Since she's been with me: I've lost 46 pounds I've lost 40.5 inches My blood pressure is normal - 120/80 My blood sugar is 94 (no longer in diabetic range) My severe obstructive sleep apnea is gone I don't snore loudly I feel good I look younger I have several NSV's, but these are the things that matter the most to me and many other bandsters. Needless to say, I am thrilled at my progress and it has truly exceeded my expectations. Good luck everyone!

It is awesome to hear how well everyone is doing! This is a great thread! These are my NSV's: *Shoes are too big (had to go shoe shopping) *None of my previous clothes, coats, undies fit - have given bags & bags to Salvation Army, etc. (have gone clothing shopping numerous times) *No longer feeling like a sausage while riding on the plane! YEAH.. *Eye glasses no longer worked for me (the progressive lens moved).. my face/neck are way much smaller (had to get new glasses). *No longer sleeping with CPAP & am getting a full nights sleep! YEAH! *Can walk/run on the treadmill for a much longer length of time (although I need to get on much more) *I purposely find reasons to take the stairs at work several times per day. I just feel sooooo much better about myself!! -
Loving my new charm bracelet that has charms for all my fitness NSVs! So far: plumeria flower for Maui Half Marathon, engraved charm for OKC memorial half, ragnar charm for the Miami to Key West Ragnar Relay, and tiara for the Disney Princess Half. Looking forward to adding more in the future, but taking a break right now for orthovisc injections in my knee and plastics next month.

Banding abbreviations...
pink dahlia replied to Iwilldothis2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on being banded ! Yes, Onederland means 199 or below, ( Like the old Toyota truck commercial says " Oh what a feeling !!!!! " ), WSL means weight loss surgery, NSV means a Non Scale Victory, (like your pants getting looser but it doesn't show up on the scale) etc.............. Anyone else have some ? -

Good afternoon everyone! I am happy to be down 85lbs at this point. So I went out to celebrate. I also went way out of my comfort zone-I got the tattoo I've been wanting forever! I am 20lbs from goal and couldn't be happier! So here's my NSV- Happy Friday to all of you!

hey annie, congrats on the nsv! and thank god im not the only one going through this. I JUST turned 39 and thought i was going through "the change" early too. You know though it DOES make sense to get on the pill to try to control it. Libra, thanks for that idea, ill probably go in and see what i can do. maybe because of the extra estrogen the pill you were taking isnt strong enough anymore? Im definitely going to go in and find out if i can get on them. we only have so many eggs. when they go, they go...and rapid fire shooting isnt doin me any good.

Good morning everyone! I just had to tell about my NSV this morning...I finally fit in my size 14 jeans!!! Woo hoo, I am sooo excited. I havent been in 14's since the late 80's. I started in a size 20. I can wait to be able to shop in the normal stores, not the plus size...sooo close! Happy Friday!

Hilarious! But still a great NSV!

So, this morning I grabbed an almond croissant with the full intention of eating half of it. (TMI: I am seriously PMSing and was craving stuff (not to mention I was also really hungry).) I went back to my desk and stared at the delicious pastry; then, I proceeded to wrap it in a napkin, squish it, then throw it in the trash. Yay for me!

That has got to be the best NSV ever.

where I work I can dress in jeans/shorts/etc so I have been wearing clothes that I bought 10-12 years ago hoping to wear. Now they are falling down, I look like one of the teenage boys will all of his boxers exposed if I am not careful. I told hubby yesterday I have got to get a pair or two of shorts. I proceeded to go back through the smallest jeans/shorts I have and I can wear all of them but one pair!!! To me these are the best NSVs. The scale hasn't moved but I know my body is changing because my clothes are fitting differently and everyone keeps complimenting my weight loss and that I must have lost more weight (since Christmas). Not! I have lost around 4-5 lbs since before Christmas so the inches must be coming off. I will take that.

As I’ve gotten further and further out and maintained at goal weight I really don’t feel like I have a lot of NSV’s anymore, so when something dawns on me as having been one, I’m like…hey, YAY. I’ve always liked clothing but when I was larger I avoided buying any because I knew no matter what I wore it wouldn’t matter. Now though I tend to love shopping entirely too much and every time I go into a store I am as equally delighted that I easily fit into the 0,2,4, xs, and small range as I was the first time I zipped up a 0. I took almost 6 months to fully heal from my last plastics surgery where I ended up with a giant hole in my back that only recently has fully healed, so I haven’t worked out as much and I tend to feel like I look a little flabby in the mirror. The scale says I weigh the same, my clothes all still fit, but I feel like I see cellulite on my butt and thighs appearing more and more everyday. Yesterday a store I really like got all of their new fall suiting in and they had a giant sale. I went to the store and I had a jolly good time trying on all of the new clothing. I was super excited that their tight business dresses fit me in a size 2, since my fake ta-tas make tight dresses a bit of a complication since the top is usually too tight on smaller sizes and larger sizes that fit the top end up being way too big on the bottom. By the end of the trip I had purchased several new suits and dresses and had my list of stuff I wanted to buy online since the store doesn’t carry all the petite styles. I felt grand. I then walked out of the store and Auntie Anne’s was right in front of me. Oh you beautiful cinnamon and sugar pretzels. I decided to be virtuous and instead run to the food court and find what appeared to be moderately healthy fried rice, vegetables, and some kind of bourbon meat. I really just wanted a small plate, but you apparently had to order this massive dish of food, which I did. I then took my bag of food and walked back to Auntie Anne’s where I got a big cup of sugar, cinnamon pretzel nuggets. Ohhh they were good. I ate 2-3 of the nuggets out of a cup of maybe 15, and then I threw the rest out. I also tossed out the giant plate of food because who was I kidding…dirty rice, fried veggies, and bourbon pork…no way was that actually good for me. My sleeve also tends to rebel against anything that has been anywhere near oil or a fryer so I figured I was in for a night of puking either way. I then went home, heated up a cup of some turkey chili I made the other day, and ordered all of the things online that the store didn’t have in stock. Two years ago I would have eaten all of that food and I would have cried because not a single thing in that store would have fit me. I think the entire time I was in there I saw maybe one size 14 and it would not have fit over my butt in the months before I ended up having surgery. Now, while I did enjoy a few bites of sugary pretzel, because of my sleeve not only do I fit into the smallest sizes in a designer store that I used to hate because they carry nothing for fat people, but I didn’t have the slightest problem throwing out about $14 in food that probably tasted really good. Fitting smaller sizes is always a nice NSV, but being able to throw away food without feeling much guilt at all, that’s a big win for me. There may be starving children in Africa as my parents always told me when I was forced to clean my plate, but right now there is one less obese girl in America because I’m finally learning how not only to not clean my plate but how not to feel guilty for having not done so.

Non-plus size stores...where did you go first?
gowalking replied to PuraVida37's topic in The Gals' Room
Totally get what you gals are writing about. I posted on the NSV thread last night that I went shopping with my girlfriend and got into size 12 slacks and was trying on XL tops. They were too big and my friend knew it. she kept bringing me. medium and smalls... which fit. I started out a year ago at size 26 pants and 4X tops. Oh and I shop at Walmart and Penney's a lot because I don't stay in the same sizes for long. -
