  1. The nurse said she want's me to be full 4-5 hrs after eating 3/4 to a cup of food. Today I ate a cup of soup and was stuffed around noon and then by 3 I was feeling hungry now im staving it's 4. I just got filled on mon.
  2. I was full pretty easily for the first 3 days after my first fill then it took about 0 seconds to get full. I have no restriction. Next fill will be on Dec 3rd. I think it is very common for people not to be full after the first fill. He put in 5.2cc. Hopefully I am not too far away. Greg
  3. I'm just over 2 months out and I've been stalled for almost 3 weeks. I think this is a pretty normal thing so don't let it get into your head. Up your protein and water, take your vitamins, and soon you should see the scale move. Like others have mentioned, my clothes are still getting looser and I can see my face slimming down. Also - get off that scale! Best thing I ever did...I weighed every day for a month and a half and the stress of a stalled scale was really affecting me.
  4. Today is Day 12 - Post op... I've heard of stalls happening at weeks 3 & 4 but not week 2. I lost 14 pounds the first week after surgery and only 1 pound during week 2. The good news is that I haven't gained any. Has anybody had this happen before? The stall began when I started the full liquids (yogurt, pudding, soups). Related? The other thing that concerns me is that it's been 9 days since I've had a BM. Normal for post - op?

    Iam I Doing Something Wrong

How many calories are you getting in? Your weight loss looks about like mine did at 2 months out (see the bottom of my signature). Stalls are pretty normal. If you are getting your fluids and protein and avoiding bad carbs plus exercising I am sure it's just a normal stall!

    What To Eat?! Please Help!

I did a lot of: poached egg over refried beans pureed tuna salad pureed chicken salad pureed chicken with barbecue sauce hummus Greek yogurt nonfat cottage cheese with hot sauce or chipotle salad dressing stirred in for flavor pureed shrimp salad I didn't have any trouble tolerating any of that. Just kept the amounts very very small - no more than 3 tablespoons of food per meal.
  7. Going in tomorrow morning. I'm not sure how I'm feeling. I'm not excited, but that doesn't bother me. It's something that I know needs to be done. I'm a realist. Could go well, could have a lot of difficulties for weeks or months. I do have some nagging second thoughts about having the majority of my stomach permanently removed, but I turn 40 this year and enough time has gone by already. I know this is what I have to do. I'm not focusing on the future joy as I'm afraid it can cause me some depression if things are difficult at first. Just trying to take one day and one hurdle at a time and reminding myself that "this too shall pass". My nerves are on the rise now that surgery is in the morning and I'm getting irritable (that's apparently how my nerves show up). *I could really use your prayers, if you are willing.* Thanks guys. <3
  8. I feel really great one week post op except for a sharp pain on left side, under the ribs. It only hurts with movement. I vaguely remember the doc saying it would hurt... But I can't remember why. And more importantly, when it goes away?
  9. So, I am almost 4 weeks post op and about 10 days ago I started with persistent vomiting and food becoming stuck when I eat. Went for the scope today, and I have a small bowel obstruction. Need to have a barium swallow and then surgery to correct. Anyone aware of this procedure?

  11. Congrats on your 1st fill. I, too felt no restriction for my 1st fill - until about 2 weeks later! Seriously! It still wasn't enough and I was still battling hunger but by 2 weeks after the 2nd fill (I know - sounds strange but it's not uncommon) I was really noticing the difference. I've had a 3rd fill and will see the doc tomorrow regarding a 4th. I may not need it! I no longer feel hungry between meals and I'm finally loosing pretty consistently I have had abosolutely no problems with the actual fill process either. The first 2 were totally painless and the last was a tiny sting. NBD

    Is This Right?

You've lost 14 pounds in six days? That's phenomenal! I realize that part of that was the fluids from surgery, but WOW!!! Sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. Your body is healing. You'll hit a true stall for a few days around the third week, then you will be amazed at how fast the weight will drop off you. Don't let the scale run your life, but enjoy the ride!

    Grazing

I get up at 5am and don't get to bed most of the time until 10pm or later. I was told 3 small meals a day and no grazing, but I get hungry so I have a planned snack twice a day. Anyone who is farther along in your weight loss, do you do this or stick strictley to your 3 meals a day and how do you feel it has effected your weight loss?
  14. I've been following a ketogenic diet for the last 3 months and have been pretty successful. My surgeon originally wanted me to lose about 30 pounds and I have lost 25 and he has been happy with me so far. My nutritionist did not suggest keto, I kind of just took it in my own hands to follow keto instead of the high protein low fat diet they recommended. My main question here is, if you followed keto up until you got close to your surgery date what did you do when you got close to surgery? Did you go back to high protein low fat, or follow keto right up until the pre op liquid diet? I'm not sure what I wanted to do. My surgery isn't officially scheduled yet but I'm probably looking at early October. High protein low fat and actually eating carbs is going to be so weird for me and I'm afraid I'll gain or stop losing if I start eating carbs. I know it isn't likely but when you do keto for so long you understand. So please anybody with any advice or peace of mind to give feel free!! Tell me what you did when your surgery date got closer and if you began following keto at maintenance after surgery or if you did not go back to keto. Thanks!
  15. Hi, I have had 3 Lapband slips and my doctor is recommending me for a revision to VSG. I just found out that he won't remove the lapband and revise to VSG in one surgery. He does it in two. I can't afford to have 2 separate surgeries. Does anyone know if there are any doctors in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg area who will do the Lapband to VSG all on the same day. Please let me know.

    Sour Stomach

You're not crazy. Sounds normal to me. I'm just under 4 months post op and I learn new things all the time. That sour feeling does go away after awhile, it varies for everyone, but I am one of the oh-so-lucky ones that gets it along with my period every month. For the first few weeks I felt every bit of everything I swallowed. Taking pills was like torture. It DOES get better though, everything sort of smooths out after awhile. It's a learning process. You will start to figure out what hurts and what doesnt, what you can and can't tolerate. Take it from me though, get in that protein! Protein has been the hardest thing for me and after weeks of getting in very little (if any at all) per day I have noticed how weak my muscles are. It's almost harder for me to climb stairs now than when I was 100 pounds heavier! Live and learn, I'm getting in that protein now and feeling better. Just my own personal tip. Congrats on the surgery. Just take it one day at a time, come to these boards (or call your doctor) when you have questions, and you'll be a sleeve pro in no time.

    Can I?

You wouldn't be the first person who gave the preop diet a go before actually starting preop preparations. The only concern, and IMO it's minimal, would be that preop isn't a nutritionally complete diet. It's designed to shrink your liver down so it can be clipped up out of the way for the procedure. The Vitamin and mineral profile of preop foods isn't ideal for long term, but some people are put on 6-8 weeks of preop and do fine. Humans are remarkable and we can survive long term on deficient diets (look how many people eat fast foods for years and don't suffer any serious hallmark vitamin or mineral deficiency)

    Help with stall

I had my surgery on 8/15, and the first week dropped 10lbs. I haven't lost anything since, and in fact, I gained 2lbs somehow, which I still can't figure out how that happened because I've had nothing "off" the full liquids plan. I haven't been cleared for anything but walking, though. I'm trying not to get frustrated too, but it's hard not to! Good luck! Just wanted you to know you're not alone!! 1 Year Post-op Slow andSteady

I don't lose weight rapidly but my body keeps getting slimmer. I'm in a size 12 now and haven't lost a single lb yet I was a size 14 2 weeks ago. lol! Mine is slow and steady but my body is changing more rapidly.

    Is this normal ?

I believe you are just experiencing the post-op "Whoosh!" most people get when starting a low cal diet. I lost 10 lbs in the pre-op diet (7 days) and then another 11 in the week post-surgery. I'm sure things will slow down a little for you as you eat more food in the coming days.
  21. BECAUSE he keeps thinking I had Gastric Bypass and not the Sleeve! My 6 month check up is this week and I'm not even excited for it. Starting weight 276 in January, Surgery weight April 15th 255 and current weight 199.5 (yay!) I've been told by my surgeon I'm not losing as fast as everyone else and to eat 3 meals a day with no snacks. Well too bad because I continue to eat 5 small healthy meals a day and I think I'm doing great so he can shut it!

    Wish me Luck

The first week on clears were hard.. couldn't get a lot in but i went from only being able to take in 16 oz to at least 50 oz. Now i've started mushies and i could only take a couple of bites of the things i've tried (crabcake and egg/cheese, probably not the best choices but i was craving them) before i started feeling sick. I did not enjoy them. The first week i lost 14 pounds, the second week i lost 2 pounds and now on my 3rd week i haven't lost anything yet. It's frustrating the dramatic difference but hey a lost is a lost. If I didn't have the sleeve I probably would have given up if I saw I didn't lose weight. I know the weight will come off. I am concentrating on my Protein, not getting enough and i will start my Vitamins.

    mourning food

I know exactly how you feel! I got sleeved on the 8th and am on full liquids. I start puréed tomorrow. But the first few weeks I been craving foods that I never even ate before my procedure. It will get better this sounds weird but when I'm feeling hungry or craving real food, I like to look up recipes for the next stage and see all the things I will be able to eat very soon and then it's kind of exciting good luck!
