You have lost almost 20 lbs and that’s great!!! What are you eating right now? Have you added to liquids? Are you staying in a calorie range? I had surgery on the 2nd and after week 1 could add drinkable yogurts and runny soups blended.. 60-80 g of protein and a 600-800 calorie range. I noticed I didn’t loose the first two days (was even up) of adding the soup and yogurt. Maybe you are just adjusting?

Maybe not enough protein is the issue. I would follow what your surgeon recommends, they should have given you a very specific plan. Greek yogurt is good and has a lot of protein but the protein drinks are really the best way to get it in right now.

Yes, I buy premade meals. Another member recommended the Real Good Food brand. They have a lot of high protein low carb foods that you can throw in the microwave. I also do the high calorie, high protein premier protein bars. As mentioned, they are high calories but have tons (30grams) of protein. I don't find myself hungry very often so these work great as a meal for me. I will also do foods I dont have to cook like deli meats, cheese, yogurt, oatmeal, and fruits. Happy Birthday! Mine is on Sunday the 11th. I had ricotta cheese, butternut squash soup, mashed up avocado, yogurt and cream of potato soup. It has all stayed down so far I am just starting week 2 of my pureed foods.

I'll be hitting the year mark on the 29th. I FINALLY started feeling a bit better about a month ago. I can finally eat more than yogurt without pain/getting sick. So, SO thankful. My first few months, I was creating such good habits - cooking every night, eating healthy stuff. When I started feeling like death in February, all that went out the window because all I could eat was soft foods like yogurt, cheese, or milk. So, here I am, nearly a year out, and I have to start over trying to create the healthy habits. And for some reason it seems harder now than right after surgery, but I'll do it. Now that I can eat, my loss has slowed. I'm up and down a lot, still about 1-2# down in a month. I'm down 135 total, 114 since surgery. Lost 90% EWL and am down to a 26.7 BMI. I'm now a 12/14 (depending on the brand), down from a 24/26. But I still look super flabby. We'll see how it all shakes out now that I can actually eat.

If you are on liquids then i would recommend the fruit and yogurt shakes from McDonald's or sonic. -

Welcome Heidi. You have come to the right place for sharing or should I say over sharing. Lol. I think anything goes in here since we are all in it together and here to support. New thing for me. Let Greek yogurt get room temperature. Add 3oz Water so it's thinner than a milkshake and eat. 5 times a day. 60 Protein and extra 15 oz Fluid. I'm going to get bored soon. I just need the food dreams to stop. Lol Just keep swimming swimming swimming. -
Hey Marissa. I read in another post that sometimes if you get a pillow and basically be on all fours. Lower your front down on the pillow, you put your butt in the air while on your knees, it supposedly relieves the gas pain as gas rises. I don't know if it works, but another person who posted said it really worked for them. Oh by the way lizrbit, I was banded 2/8 and I am drinking protein shakes (since the hospital), dannon yogurt smoothies (light, I like the strawberry/bannana one), jello, fudgsicles (sugar free, make sure it dissoves to liquid before swallowing), popsicles, V8, and I can have cream or milk based soups (not chunks) that are thinned with water. I was not told any clear liquids after surgery. Doctor wants my energy up he said. He said just to listen to my body and sip. Hope that helps. Luv2blab, I did not have any band around me after surgery. I am starting to feel better today. If you look at some of my other posts I got really emotional. I am actually started to feel good now. I think it was what other people said, the anethesia and pain meds. I was banded on 2/8. I haven't taken pain meds since yesterday morning (day 3). I have tenderness at port area, which I don't know if it is the port or the fact the incision is bigger there than the other ones. I don't even feel the other incisions. Just that one on the side. I was thinking I would write out my experience from check in at the hospital to now to give people an idea of what to expect. I know I wanted to know everything.

Different plans seem to have some differences in what’s considered a liquid or a purée. I’ve heard that some plans consider yogurt a liquid, and some people are even allowed to eat yogurt while still in the hospital. I couldn’t have yogurt until purées (1 week post-op). And I couldn’t have eggs until soft foods, but I didn’t even try them until I was almost 3 months out because I’ve read that a lot of people don’t tolerate them early on. Fortunately, I haven’t had any problems with scrambled eggs. I’ve read that adding cottage cheese to scrambled eggs make them more tender, so I add 1/2 ounce cottage cheese to 1 egg.

The 4-ingredient* protein mug cake you need in your life
catwoman7 replied to BigSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
once I open a can of pumpkin puree, I use it pretty quickly. I'll make pumpkin protein shakes, pumpkin protein muffins, and pumpkin yogurt out of it. It really doesn't have any taste (unless you add spices, of course), so it's great for adding moisture (and fiber) to things.. -

Georgia, stop in the grocery store. Grab a yogurt or applesauce that are in the tubes so you can eat on the go. -
Mornin' girls! Allie...you are soooo close to goal also. You and Long and almost neck in neck. How about a good ole' race? Just kidding. Everyone is different and wouldn't want anyone ending up disappointed. Crazy around here with hauling corn to town and getting equipment ready for spring. I have said this b/4 but think it really does happen. I think DH stand out by mailbox (we live on an extremely busy tar road) and waves people in and yells "She's cooking today and there's room at the table!". I have two homemade chicken pot pies in the oven, three loaves of yeast cheese bread, a strawberry, banana, fresh pineapple and yogurt salad made and a two warm Dutch apple pies sitting on the counter. Then I go to town and volunteer at the hospital till 6pm. But, busy makes me happy. Tomorrow I am heading to Fargo to look at my new tanning bed. This is something I promised myself I would buy when I got to goal. Got to goal in Oct, 2008 but just haven't gotten the task done. Need to have an electrician come in b/4 the bed is delivered to put in a new outlet for it. I'm EXCITED! I never overdo in a tanning bed but a couple of times a week makes me feel and look better. VZ...we are going up to our lake place on Sat to open up and stay over night. Can't wait. Gotta hit the shower b/4 the "herd" pulls in for lunch.

Don't you just love those Costco meals? LOL I've done that a couple times. Was there about lunch time, had a few samples and was pretty full. I got the lowfat yogurt at the snack bar for dessert and ate like 1/4 of it. Now before I hear about how it's not healthy, not enough protein, too many calories etc. It is the rare occassion or treat that I've done this. I used to love their hot dogs too, now a 1/2 hotdog w/o the bun is lunch. Too bad they make you order the soda with it as I just throw that away unless someone is with me and I give it to them. Well I am working 8 hours today. That's 5 more than usual! LOL Gonna be a long one! LOL I am just very part time but filling in for a gal that needed off today for spring break. Better get going

I thought long and hard about it, but never did it. I really, really came close. I had Chipotle once, steak and veggie burrito and frozen yogurt, but that really wasn't out of the ordinary for me at the time after a big workout, lots of protein, 60g protein in that one meal. But didn't do the whole all out binge fest, and I felt tons better afterwards.

Hi Silry, My stomach was gnawing and rumbling and so I went ahead and incorporated the sippable yogurt yesterday. Dr. Miranda said that this could be started as early as day 4. I did start feeling hungry again yesterday, but with three sips of the yogurt I felt full - AMAZING! Tomorrow will be the start of when I can do the Protein Shake and I am thankful for it! :biggrin1:

Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Pre weight loss surgery I drank the International Delight creamers, and went through a phase of using half and half. Then when I began my weight loss surgery journey 9 years ago, I swapped out those types of creamers for cashew milk and always sugar free sweeteners like Stevia. To me it was creamier than almond milk. Now that I'm 7 weeks post op revision, I've switched yet again. Now I make 4 oz of strong coffee with a full reusable Keurig pod and add it to a Fairlife protein shake. I make them both hot and iced. Then I add complimenting sugar free coffee syrups to that if I want. I can't recommend these syrups enough! https://www.skinnymixes.com/ (I also add these to Greek yogurt, SF tea, SF lemonade, and I've read that some people add them to oatmeal, but I've not tried that, I don't eat oats very often) I'm sure you could switch to half caffeine and half decaf for a while if you want to slowly eliminate the caffeine from your diet. If you truly enjoy the benefits from a warm beverage, maybe eventually you can go straight decaf and use a protein shake so that a warm cup of coffee is beneficial to your diet and you ensure you reach your daily protein goals. That's what I do. I have two cups a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so that's 60 grams of easy protein a day for me. Best wishes! -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
dwilbanks replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello WSLers Long time listener, first time caller. I was sleeved on 11/22/21. I had lost over 40lbs since my surgery, but now seem to be gaining a pound a day the last few days. My diet has remained the same, 1-2 Premiere Protein shakes, 5 oz of non/low fat yogurt, and 4 bites of misc protein from dinner. Getting 64 oz or more of water has been brutal. Any ideas on the weight gain? It's really screwing with my head. Walking (exercise) has been limited, since I am currently experiencing my fourth gout attack since my surgery. I've been taking 600mg Allopurinol daily and 0.6mg of Colchicine during flare ups. It's been brutal. I have not had an attack in a while. Regards Dan -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
Lifestyle Changer replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My nutritionist has me starting eating things like scrambled eggs, canned chicken or tuna with very little light mayo to moisten it so it won’t get stuck going down while swallowing. I can eat lean ground beef, thin sliced deli roast beef and turkey, shrimp, cottage cheese, yogurt some cooked vegetables. I still need at least one protein drink included in my day. My nutritionist stated I have to introduce these foods slowly to determine if my new stomach can digest these food. She some patients find out that the foods they ate before surgery find out they are unable to eat afterwards. I am so excited to start transitioning to textured foods but nervous at the same time that my new stomach will handle it now. Wishing all my fellow November Surgery Buddies who are transitioning to the next phase of your diet plan. What do you all think of changing our group name from “November Surgery Buddies” to “2021 November Surgery Warriors” I believe this group we are all warriors from our decision making, preparing or already has their gastric bariatric surgery as well as joining BariatricPal for support. I will understand if no one wants to change the groups name. I just wanted to bring it up as a suggestion. Reading these posts and seeing how much all of support each other made me look at how much we have a lot of strength and are uplifting thoughts for each other. It reminds me that we are warriors of battling our challenges together. -
What is on your Trader Joe's Shopping List?

Was just there yesterday. Was very hard to resist some of the pumpkin choices for sure! The macarons were calling my name, but I put them down! I've been playing with their organic pumpkin purée though! Overnight oats with plain 0% fage Greek yogurt, pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice and fairlife milk. Pumpkin purée, a small bit of applesauce, ricotta cheese and pumpkin pie spice I did splurge on some pumpkin "o's" Cereal and I actually didn't like t at all--too sweet and not enough pumpkin flavor. My chickens ate it. -
Tracy, alot of times if you eat yogurt it helps with effects from antibiotics! I wanted to lose 20 or 30 pounds before we meet in Alabama. I didn't!! Think I can lose them in a week? I am being a pretty good bandster, and exercising pretty well, but still at same weight. I have good restriction also. Oh well, I am up in weight, but still the same Jane. Off to do laundry and stuff before work!!

Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients
alabamagirl1975 replied to Savedbygrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know you did! But when she flopped it out there....I couldn't help it! Then Lisa wasn't there...so I got Dr. Miles and the nurse told me "Your gonna need the numbing medicine - he hasn't done many fills". Why would you want to tell a first timer that???? Just to FREAK me out even more! LOL.... I do have a question for you guys...since my fill I have been able to eat like before (solids) but just smaller amounts. Ok that's good...but today I have developed a pain in the middle of my chest, right below where my breast bone ends ~ like the hernia spot. Any clue as to why??? I have been munching on yogurt and it is coming and going....even took Gas X -
I don't know your stats but 800 calories a day doesn't seem too high to me. Unless you're really tiny and inactive, you should be able to lose on that amount. I mostly eat mini-meals throughout the day. I start eating at about 6 AM when I have coffee before work and I eat every 2-3 hours or so until about 6-7 PM (like maybe 6 AM, 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, 5 PM and 6-7 PM). I'm naturally more hungry in the daytime and not so much at night, so I don't usually need to eat at night. It looks something like this: 1. 6 AM: Morning latte (made with Kitu Super coffee, 10g or Protein and no sugar) 2. 8 AM: 1 scrambled egg 3. 10 AM: Yogurt 4. 12 PM: 1 chicken thigh 5. 2 PM: sugar-free pudding 6. 4 PM: Lunch meat wrap made with Mission Carb Balance tortilla 8. 6-7 PM (Nighttime snack): cheese stick When I was still losing, I restricted carbs but not calories, so if I had a hungry day I might eat a little more or conversely I might have a low appetite day and eat less. I ate around 800 calories a day from 6 months through about 18 months, so I guess that's why it doesn't seem excessive to me. I did not have weekend treats while I was losing (although I did have special-occasion treats, like Christmas and my birthday). The more often you eat on-plan, the faster your weight loss, but you get to decide the balance between losing weight and enjoying life. Just be alert to how things affect you, so you can adjust if there is a problem.
