    Fatigue 6 weeks post op

You're not alone. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and sleep 10 hours a night. I'm exhausted. I take my Vitamins, too, and I aim for 800 calories a day. I struggle to get my Protein and Water in. I get in the bare minimum. I know I need more calories and hydration because I've started walking an hour a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protien help

So I'm 5 weeks post-op and having trouble getting in protein looking for something I can mix with Crystal Light and not taste it any suggestions cannot deal with the protein shakes too thick and will not go down
  3. Well had my physical today and passed. I am healthy just over weight by 75 pounds. I am so nervous, I am having the sleeve and was concerned about going under because my BP runs low 100/46 today, that is a normal for me or it runs 90/42, no dr has said anything about it being low so guess I'm good. My dr wanted me to have the sleeve before I have health issues, I think it's a good idea, I have tried dieting, weight watchers, the military diet and I couldn't get the weight to come off, always so discouraging. Breathes deeply so nervous.
  4. Mine still had the steri-strips over them at that point. 9 days now and 3 of the 5 still have the strips on them.

    tell us about yourself

Hey everyone, my name is Tiffany. I'm 32 years old, married to the greatest husband in the world, John (27), and mother to the most amazing son in the universe, Caysen (11). My husband is active duty Air Force, and we are currently stationed in the NW panhandle of Florida near Pensacola. We've been together for over 3 years, and were married in Feb 2008. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and have been in the insurance industry since 2002. I just recently resigned my position with a small agency due to the extended recovery time I am dealing with, and wanting to spend time with my family. My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan, and is due home at the end of September. I love to write poetry, fish, go to the beach, and just about do anything with my family. John and I have a date night once a week, and are enjoying our life on the beach. John is going to adopt Caysen, and we will try for another baby next year. I'm excited about what sleeve life has to offer. I'm doing great with the weight loss. I'm seeing changes, and my clothes are definitely too big at this point. It's exciting, but I'm also looking forward to moving to regular food with some consistency.
  6. I hardly slept, could not get comfortable and my body just feels achy. Almost like flu achy. I've been nauseous off and on since yesterday but no fever. My bm's have been like liquid and I'm afraid I'm dehydrated. I've already been to the ER once for fluids at 8 days out. Trying to get some gatorade in and maybe a little sleep. Going to call the docs office when they open. Anyone experience these symptoms?
  7. We were eating at Hard Rock Cafe this last week in Seattle before a concert at the showbox ( imagining dragons- truly awesome). We wanted to eat on the roof and enjoy the beautiful weather as the sun set over Puget Sound. Without thinking, i took the 3 flights of stairs 2 at a time without stopping, going fast and felt nothing at the top except awesomeness. I was like, wow, I could not have done that before!
  8. Okay, so I am 4.5 weeks out and after dropping 43 pounds (including the liquid diet) I am in the dreaded stall. It is evil, completely evil, and even though I know it is basic math (calories eaten-calories expended will eventually lead to weight loss) I can't help feeling frustrated. I have banned the scales, read all the stall posts, but need to vent. I upped my exercise this week, tried to up my food a little (600 calories). So please post encouragement and tips, dear fellow sleevers!
  9. Okay friends, I would like your input. I'm about 14 weeks post-op. I had been walking or jogging 2-4 miles a day and decided on Monday to start alternating an Insanity work-out every other day. Well, apparently I hadn't used those muscles in forever because of course, my whole body is sore. Starting Tuesday though, mid-day, I began having pain in my stomach. Not abdomen, but stomach. Also pain/soreness around my port area. I haven't taken it too seriously because to be honest, my whole body hurts. My abs and ribs are sore from all of the jumping and bending. Last night, I got four bites into dinner and got stuck. I've been pretty good lately at taking small bites and chewing thoroughly; I don't think the stuck episode was due to my error. I have 6 cc's in my 11 cc band and think I'm finally in the green zone. The pain is worse when I sit down, and is about 2 inches above my belly button. It's a dull ache to constant pain. Not - double over pain - but definitely an unwelcomed nuisance. I put a call into my doctors nurse for her opinion, but had to leave a message. Has anyone else experienced this before? I am pretty sure it's from over-activity and my big workout (it was 57 minutes of non-stop go go go), but the pain coupled with the unusual stuck episode makes me wonder if I did something to somewhere! I'm going back to liquids for today to see if that helps.
  10. I had mine on 1/18/16, lost 20lbs in the first 10 days, then gained back 6 and have stalled. I'm encouraged that at least I'm not the only one who has stalled, but the weight gain is what has me worried. Guess we'll have to have patience and wait it out, which is always fun...
  11. No you dont take protein powder you will be on clear liquads for first week
  12. I'm 11 days post op and I'm mostly liquid. When does your nutritionist let you move on to something soft? I'm up to two teaspoons of plain yogurt. I'm taking an antibiotic because I've had a fever so to avoid a yeast infection I'm doing yogurt for me 3 "meals" this week. Have you eaten Jello? That gave me the sensation of eating while being on the liquid portion of my plan. I also like Popsicles because it's almost like a bite.

    Fatigue 6 weeks post op

yes, I am 7 weeks out and I *do* feel like I am eating all the time. you can't go by hunger anymore. you just have to eat when it is time to eat. in fact, I've just made adjustments to my workout routine because after having my husband help me evaluate my calories (I am seriously math challenged) I knew I can NOT eat enough to do what I have been doing the last couple of weeks. Some minor tweeks to food, and work out and we'll see if I can get this party started. :-)

Anyone in water aerobics post band?

I started aquafit about four weeks after band surgery without any problems. I've continued with it for the last year, going about three times a week. I too also did a lot - A LOT - of walking before I started a regular exercise routine, first with a trainer at home and for the last month at the gym. I now do each of these activities, and much more, and have never experienced any problems related to the band. Lots of muscle soreness and tiredness, but that's all good.

    My journey

This will be about my journey loosing weight after having the lap band. I had it on Feb. 17th 2009. I weigh 244 and I want to get to 150. I am nervous about the whole process. I eat so much and I love food. How will I do? How do I train my brain that enough is enough? I am very sore so far and I am also hungry. I don't get my first fill for 6 weeks. I stay on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. I am hungry! lol I am sticking with it though and doing what I should.

Always stick to your plan. You are nowhere near healed at four weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Finally, after 6 weeks, I can drink water again without discomfort. I was having to drink crystal light and propel exclusively. I was getting so sick of it. Now I just can't wait until I can chug water after a workout!
  18. This was from my post on Friday regarding BMs (or lack thereof) To upcoming bandsters-some possibly helpful info regarding meds Please speak to your doctor concerning the adverse effects that narcotic (at home) pain meds can have on you. Was banded 10 days ago and when I went for my one week post op had not gone to the bathroom. I guess in all of the excitement of finally being on the road to better health I overlooked the fact that I had not had a bowel movement since the day before surgery. No one ever mentioned to me that the medicine used during surgery and the viacodin/hydrocodone that was sent home with me could cause constipation. Believe me, it can and it does. So before surgery discuss w/ your surgeon what type of OTC meds you can use and when is a good time to start using them. I'd venture to guess that if I had realized the situation I was about to be in I would have started Miralax or Milk of Magnesia (acceptable to my doctor) on day 2 or 3. The pain that is associated with the introduction of gas during your surgery will be 10x worse if you can't go to the bathroom. Just something to put out there so that hopefully no one else has to deal with it. I didn't feel constipated either so maybe that is another reason I didn't think anything of not going... Renee'
  19. Hi all- I was banded on April 27th of this year. I have lost all total (including pre-op) 58 lbs. I am so thankful and happy for that. However, after my last fill, I have lost maybe 2 lbs...and it has been three weeks! I am now not making great choices as far as food ( but not horrible either). I am so frustrated as I am (and have been) about 4 lbs from a MAJOR milestone on the scale. I got on the scale today and it showed I gained about 1.5lbs....from what, I am not sure. A little weight gain from the choices I made maybe but not 1.5 lbs! I am even exercising 3 times a week for 1.5 hours. I would love someone that I could talk to, who can understand, who can be an accountability partner. I can be that for someone else too. Thanks- Jen

    Are you eating enough?

I can identify with that feeling, and its one thing I think is problematic with the band becuase I think it keeps you in that dieting headspace. I'm conditioned through dieting my entire life to expecting to be hungry. I spend my entire losing phase convinced I wouldnt lose THIS week becuase I was a piggy and had eaten too much. Even five years down the track, every day feels somewhat like one of those "bad days" from pre band, where you go to bed vowing to do better the next day. I just constantly feel like I havent done well enough becuase I'm full and satisfied. What I tend to do though is not "allow" myself to eat enough at meals and then wonder why I get the bikkie attack at 4pm - the cravings that send me for the chocolate biscuits. Yet, allowing myself to actually eat at that time feels somehow wrong. I'm working very hard on this and am slowly overcoming it. It just doesnt compute for many of us - we cant possibly be not hungry, that means we've done somethign wrong.
  22. I'm dealing with the same issues. The day after surgery the doc told me to expect this so to take stool softeners. I asked her if I should expect to be going since since I would be barely eating for a few days and she said that it didn't matter, I should still be going. My advice that since it has been a week, just put a call into your doctor.

    The dangers of sleep apnea

Prior to my RNY gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago, I had sleep apnea. At night I would keep my wife awake all night long with my snoring. After surgery this condition went into remission and stayed there. I would wake up in the middle of the night and find my wife hovering over me. I asked her what she was doing. She said I was sleeping so quietly she was trying to find out if I was still alive. I came across an article today called Engineer in NJ Transit crash had undiagnosed sleep apnea, officials say that points to one of the dangers of sleep apnea. The article says that the 29 September 2016 commuter train crash that killed 1 and injured 108 people in Hoboken, New Jersey and also the 1 December 2013 commuter train crash that killed 4 and injured 63 people in New York may have been due to the conductors suffering from undiagnosed sleep apnea. I guess I always put sleep apnea in the box of snoring but I wonder how many lives are lost when drivers temporarily fall asleep at the wheel, or train conductors at the controls of the engine, or ship pilots at the helm. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/11/16/engineer-in-nj-transit-crash-had-undiagnosed-sleep-apnea-officials-say.html

    My day three

I can relate. When I was 3 days out everyone I put something in my stomach I turned into a teenage boy (gas machine). I would burp and toot and thought it would never go away. Fortunately, it subsides. I'm 1 week out and still get some gas, but not a ton. It does subside.
